Behold Michele Bachmann's Epic "Twitter-fail!"

"Oh come on! Don't tell me you are all too lazy to tweet! Hello? Is this thing on?"
Courtesy of Politico:

The outraged Michele Bachmann campaign today blasted an email to its list asking that supporters respond to CBS News and its political director John Dickerson, who limited her time at yesterday's debate, with specific action:

"Please show your support by tweeting your outrage to CBSNEWS and John Dickerson or posting on Facebook to give them a piece of your mind. Afterwards, I hope you will make a donation to Michele's campaign to ensure she has the funds necessary to fight back against the liberal media."

The email, noted by the Times's Jeremy Peters, went to one of the biggest email lists in politics, and went out to the people who forwarded it me a bit after noon today. The request for action was in its last paragraph.

But a search of Twitter suggests that virtually nobody acted on it: searching "jdickerson" and "Bachmann" turned up just three outraged tweets this afternoon. A similar search around @cbsnews turns up another handful, and if the word "Bachmann" is removed, you'll find another couple dozen complaints that seem primarily to be from supporters of Ron Paul.

This kind of social media campaign can be a sign of a candidate's grassroots strength. Or, in this case, it can be a sign of apparent weakness.

Oooh that has GOT to sting!

You know I think it might be time for a certain somebody to admit that her campaign has just flat-lined.

Just think of that high, the conservative Americana bubble gives these airheads not fit for office.

Sarah was hooked on McCain's campaign trail like heroin, basking in the unwarranted adulation of a curious base. Once the novelty wore off as the reality set in that this was a bullshit cynical move to capture the female vote, and the press started simply asking questions befitting any aspiring or sitting public figure, Sarah crashed and burned.

"Can't I just be Vice President and then President if I want it enough" Sarah thought. And Michele also too.

They thought the baggers could propel them into power. . .not enough of them.

Saner heads prevail. It's cold outside that bubble. Ask The Donald and Herb also too. Rick Santorum may not have a chance in hell, but at least he is schooled on the issues, wrong as he may be on them.

Can we sum up Bachmann, Palin, Perry and Cain's epic crash & burn in the greater political field (and theater) in less than 140 characters?

They forgot that their homeschooled, luddite, caveman, pregnant and barefoot base doesn't have cell phones can't possibly respond. I really doubt if they actually have an email list.

  5. Re: Jerry Sandusky, Michele Bachmann: "I would beat him to a pulp", Sarah Palin: Hang him from the highest tree, I'll bring the rope".

    Well, that's mature.

Those two really know how to sound like Presidential material, don't they? Imagine such statements issuing from the White House. (shudder)

At least Bachmann is fun to listen to - stupid, yes - but hilariously stupid.

As opposed to Palin, who is just mean stupid.

  7. I am always amazed at how many time these low-functioning morons can be riled up by the words "liberal media". No different than one of Pavlov's dogs slobbering... and about the same reasoning ability.

Hey, Michelly, nice try - They're not that into you, get used to it.

Sam, your comment made me laugh. Whatever happened to "Do unto others as you would want have done unto you", or "turn the other cheek" once again, violence or the threat of violence, is their achille's heel. Don't recall Jesus saying "Sometimes, they just needed to be killed".

So VanSistern tried to bail Sarah out by saying, "yes but you'd let the justice system work." And the ever brilliant Sarah replies, "of course, when he's found guilty, then he can hang from the highest tree. I'll bring the rope." Maybe they still hang people in Alaska, but down here, not so much. I think she's confusing Sandusky with another person she hates even more, and she misspoke...she meant to say "lynch." And I have no doubt that she would be in the front row cheering.

  10. Gryph,

Saw your twitter feeds last night about Palin's appearance on Greta and am hoping you'll blog about the experience. A GOP political consultant tweeted:
this Greta segment w/ Palin giving advice to all the candidates is absolutely painful

    OT.
Check out this 53 second video of what is twirlin' around Herman Cain's head. Very cute.

So the twitterquake was a failure?

    Posting on Facebook?

Maybe Bachmann supporters were gettin busy on Facebook with other things? There have been some distractions lately on Facebook. If all the supporters were distracted and not following her commands- that would be proof of a plot.

So what was Marcus looking at lately on the internet?

I've never understood why the media ever bothered asking her opinion on anything, because her responses never made a lick of sense. If they hadn't paid her any attention, she would still be an unknown quantity, sponsoring bills that never make it past Committee (if that). The biggest whopper she told was about the cost of the President's trip to India. Fortunately, CNN's Anderson Cooper called her out on it, but it didn't stop her from telling outright lies about the President, the Democrats or any other entity she hates. A truly disgusting woman, aided and abetted by the media -- who, through their giving her airtime, clearly show that they are not the liberal organizations the Cons constantly say they are.

Unlike this twitter fail Turdblossom Rove was occupied last night.
    Mic check video

    thinkprogress.org/special/2011/11/16/369694/occupy-baltimore-karl-rove/

"Rove soon discovered that he wasn’t going to deliver his right-wing rhetoric unopposed, as a cry of “Mic Check!” rang out among the audience.

“Karl Rove is the architect of Occupy Iraq, the architect of Occupy Afghanistan!” yelled the demonstrators. "

    Turdblossom.

  14. It's really too bad that Reagan closed so many mental health facilities cause Marcus may have to give up his fashion career to provide a different sort of care for his beloved partner in crime. Some may have flown over the cuckoo's nest but Bachmann happily resides there.

Yesterday, Herbal Cain asked Henry Kissinger to be his Sec of State. Marcus, order two of everything, you may have another patient checking in. (Wonder if he also called Joe Miller to see if he could get a good deal on those unused drapes.)

The crazy just keeps ramping up over there on the right. Just when we think we've heard and seen it all then the next week dawns and they blow out the charts all over again.

  15. 1) That's hilarious.

    2) Proof Bachmann is a completely removed fool.

I don't believe her base is rooted in "new technology" like President Obama's and others.

I'm a grown woman, wife and mother; I have no use for Twitter or Facebook, I'm just a private person. I text, call or e-mail people I want to reach.

I'm sure she still has her strong base of support, but her support is not growing.

The fail here was the campaign's. It required people to not simply tweet, but probably, for the majority of MB followers, it would have required them to CREATE accounts.

These are people who probably shun e-mail in lieu of a handwritten letter. That's fine, but it's not a "twitter" kind of group, ya know?

    Here's what Dickerson wrote:
"Okay let's keep it loose since she's not going to get many questions and she's nearly off the charts in the hopes that we can get someone else."

Stupid stupid Bachmann. She lacks the intellectual comprehension to see that he was doing her a frickin' favor! It's completely the opposite of her outrage and allegation of unfairness. It WAS unfair, but to her advantage!
    Dummy!
Does she HAVE advisers? Hey. Guys. They were trying to HELP her and keep the show rolling. It was about production, not the politician. IDIOTS.

  18. It's hell being crazy with no audience tuned in to watch you act the fool.

Just ask the half-baked Alaskan Quitter. She looks like she has developed cabin fever these days in her seclusion.

  20. Um, who sends an email asking for "tweets of outrage?" People who don't understand Twitter.
