Did you see Ed Schultz's interview with Occupy Oakland's injured Marine Scott Olsen?

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

I know that many of you were worried so I am glad to see this young man making a slow, but steady, recovery.

Hearing him struggle to speak is somewhat heartrending, especially since what happened to him was completely unnecessary and an indication that some places in this country are little better than a third world dictatorship.

It is indeed heartrending to hear him struggle to speak clearly - but encouraging to see, despite that dysfunction, his mental clarity and function is very sharp. I hope and pray to my atheistic higher power the effects of being brain injured does completely remit.

He is a brave young man who has taken it upon himself to give voice to the discontent so many citizens have with what is going on in our country today - and sad that anyone dares to vilify him for being a true Patriot. This young man gives me hope for America's future - his parents sure did raise him right!

  5. Completely off topic, but what happened to Joe McGinniss? I haven't seen anything new from him in weeks.

Yeah, it was great to see him recovering, and I hope he continues. This young man fought for our country, and comes home to see the economy in shambles, sees the injustice of the income disparity, gets up off his ass and soldiers on for the cause.

How anyone can, in good conscience, make fun of him, what happened to him, and his bravery in soldiering on is beyond me.

You will be Karma's personal bitch, and you know who you are.

    "DO YOU LOVE YOUR FREEEEEDOMMMM?"
What fucking freedom? We're becoming a police state. Oh by the way, law enforcement officers? The OWS movement is fighting for your rights too. Why don't you pull your heads out of your power trip asses?

I did see it...the young man is very brave and very determined to keep working for this movement. I applaud him...does he need anything?

The USA is no longer a country to be proud of...watching these cops handle the demonstrators made me sick. We are no different than a third country and just getting worse. Pay attention folks...I think we will see rioting in the streets throughout our country.

I wish I could stand with him when he goes back.

I wonder if I would have the courage to face what he's been through, then come home to a war zone, and stand again for what's right, only this time on his own streets.

These people are the hope of the vanishing middle class, and I do so admire them, all the while I fear for them.

It truly saddens me, what we have become.

I fully support the occupy movement... but you do not wear a neck brace after 5 days... If health issues are involved you should be going through surgery. This makes him look like a complete MORON.

I seem to have "scored one" recently, in an ongoing headbanging between lefties and righties.

After I wrote something like the following, no one from the right had anything more to say about how terrible the OWS movement is:

If you are AGAINST the Occupy Movement, it means you are FOR the gangsters who raided your tax dollars to the tune of trillions.

They made not only poor investment decisions, but were caught redhanded trying to rip you and others off...then had the nerve to ask the government for corporate welfare in the guise of a "bailout." The government SHOULD have JAILED them, instead.

Now, when people have given up the comfort of their couches to be on the streets bringing this injustice out in the open, the cops are bashing THEIR heads in, while it should be the investment bankers, and the Treasury Secretary, as well as the war profiteers who have almost ruined your great America.

And you want to sit home and complain about how they leave garbage behind, when they are chased out of an area, beaten, jailed, and sprayed with chemical weapons, doing what YOU should be there doing, if you had an ounce of guts?

Hmm... talking out of your ass. You should see a doctor about that.

11:03 - you DO wear a neck brace after 5 days if your doctor or physical therapist tells you to wear it. You are not privy to what his medical professionals are advising, nor do you know why he is wearing it.

I had to wear a neck brace for more than five days after my car was rear-ended so violently that it pushed two cars in front of me across the intersection and down the next block. The neck brace was to be worn for two weeks as a safety against moving my neck too much too quickly.

So suck it up. Most of us listen to our doctors, even if they are being overly cautious. Whiplash is nothing to be taken lightly. It can devastating impacts - even mild whiplash can produce lingering injuries of a magnitude that is surprising. I do not know that Scott Olsen suffering whiplash, but considering a metal canister was propelled towards him and hit him hard enough to fracture his skull, it would not be a shock. The man just got out of the hospital recently. Give him a break, please.

If this had happened to Sister Sarah, we could expect to see her in wheelchair and collar for as long as it brought her headlines. No - she would have raised holy heck, sued everyone she could and be whining about her injuries, not the issues.

Scott Olsen is my new hero. Even with a severe head injury that impedes his speech, he speaks better for the American populace than any right-wing talker.

I truly wonder what these violent assaults on peaceful demonstrators are intended to accomplish?

They may be a prelude to the kinds of greater violence and murders and massive arrests that foreshadowed Nazi Germany, the USSR and that have sustained many monarchs and dictators.

If that is not the intent, then history tells us they will only increase unrest, resentment and grater public demonstrations, and will eventually elicit violence in return for the violence they inflict as more and more of the public see that as the only means to protect itself.

I am hugely curious as to how each individual policeman can possibly justify their actions.
Peace keepers? They are not. Upholders of the law? They are the greater perpetrators of crime. Protectors of the innocent? Certainly not.

So what do they see in the mirror, how are they making life for the children better?

Upon what bed rock of justice do they rationalize violence against the non violent and the destruction of personal property and deprivation of freedom in the face of Constitutionally guaranteed rights of assembly and freedom of political expression.
