Okay hopefully you will not think any less of me if I admit that seeing the picture of President Obama standing next to Giffords in her hospital room made my eyes tear up a little.I pre-ordered the book and I hope you do as well. She is an amazing woman with an an incredible heart, and an incredible story to tell.
I now count her as one of my personal heroes.
Looks like Sarah doesn't just have Katie Couric to blame for diminishing her bright shiny Northstar in the court of public opinion anymore.
ReplyDeleteGabby, with traumatic brain injury, is more competent and fit to serve with a servant's heart than Sarah could ever be.
God bless her recovery and her devoted partner on her side.
See Sarah, this is what a real victim looks like, but also what a real Undefeated person looks like.
ReplyDeleteSarah Palin and the Tea Party have encouraged at least half of the country to look at the government as if it were our enemy. They have made people think they don't have to pay taxes. What do we see in our society now? People flying planes into IRS buildings, citizens shooting children and fellow-residents while going after a Congresswoman.
ReplyDeleteDoes that sound harsh Sarah? To blame you? You have contributed nothing positive in becoming a household name in this country, only blood, guts and destruction.
Gabby, you and your husband rock, you are examples of what we look for in our citizens and people who live to serve their country.
I'll take Gabby over knuckle-dragging Sarah any day.
Tears and coffee in the morning - no words.
ReplyDeleteSarah.. do you ever think about the nine year old girl you helped kill?
ReplyDeleteWow. She is just amazing. I hope she continues to grow stronger.
ReplyDeleteAnd for the record, she's ten times tougher than her attacker, and more dedicated and awesome than any of the wacko politicians who publicly talked smack about her. You know who I mean.
Thank you for this post. I read it and then did my morning Google for Palin and found this:
ReplyDelete"As per last night it is safe to say there is still time to get in simply because nothing else is working. And the failure of the other contenders works positively in her favor."

Palin would not want to make news by running when Gabby's book is in the news, since that would bring up all kinds of negatives for Sarah.
She might not reenter the race if she doesn't want to answer questions about Fred's book. Its (frustrating to me) delay may hold her back.
First picture of Gabby Giffords in hospital: Shocking image reveals bravery of shot congresswoman as she fought for life

THIS is one powerful video. Makes Palin's pathetic "blood libel"...me...me...me, "I'm the victim" screech all the more disgusting, revolting and nauseating.
ReplyDeleteThank you, G. That gave me goosebumps.
ReplyDeletewhat a woman.
what a family.

I will bet my house that Sarah Palin did not shed one, single tear for a single person that day.
I will never forget that Sarah "tweeted" that she was "praying for the victims"; but PRODUCED A LENGTHY VIDEO RESPONSE to address HERSELF!!!
The flames are licking at your feet, Sarah.
OT sort of...just where IS Ms. Caribou-Killer these days?
ReplyDeleteDid Faux "News" finally give her the hook?
No recent Sean (hand down his pants) Hannity, lobbing softball, pre-arranged questions to the IDIOT?
Gotta get this book - what an amazing person she is, and a devoted husband (Kim Kardashian wouldn't hang around if her husband had TBI)
ReplyDeleteI had TBI 10 years ago after a car accident. Although my injury was insignificant in comparison to Gabby's - it was a difficult recovery. I could speak, but not in complete sentences.
There were so many amazing people involved in this story - her aide who held her until help arrived, the doctors, the rehab specialists and her family.
Perhaps if Palin thinks her invective and angry diatribes have no impact on some of her low thinking followers perhaps she can also explain to us why billions of dollars are spent on advertising and other forms of propaganda if mere words have no impact.
ReplyDeleteWords have power Mrs P, and words cause actions that are not always positive. We all recall how ferociously you have gone after the mentally challenged young man who 'threatened' you from thousands of miles away so obviously you thought his words constituted a threat. Why then do you insist that your words pose no threat to other innocents? I'm guessing it's because you long ago sold any soul you may have owned to the devil and he's working you hard. You have your 10 year old daughter, another family doesn't and you need to think long and hard about that outcome and how few degrees of separation there are between you and the deaths of Christina Taylor-Green, Judge Roll, Gabe Zimmerman and others.
Palin can do a small penance by disappearing from the public political scene. She can go home and enjoy the husband and family that she still HAS and leave the healing of this Nation to those who have that goal in their heart as opposed to pocket lining and title winning.
The President certainly looks as though he is praying for her. That's what faith in action looks like, not faith for show.
ReplyDeleteThis is how a woman politician should conduct themselves; with respect, dignity and superhuman strength. I have been impressed beyond words by this brave and lovely woman and I pray she makes a full recovery and goes on to make this country as strong as she is.
ReplyDeleteShe is truly an inspirational human being and I could only hope to be half the woman she is.
speaking of the former 1/2 ex-gov
ReplyDeleteis she home baking cookies to bring to the storm lashed coastal villages?
bitch
sarah palin owns this tragedy. I noticed the opening of "hardball" has been changed and sarah no longer appears. haven't heard her being on greta or seany lately. don't hear anything about bristle's "reality" show. maybe America is finally getting lucky and we'll finally be rid of the palins and will see far less of their reality doppelgangers, the kardashians...
ReplyDeleteSuch a hard road. Such good people. Thank you, G-man.
ReplyDeleteGabby Gifford is an amazingly intelligent and thoughtful woman. She is strong, well-spoken, and a survivor.
ReplyDeletescarah palin is the antithesis of anything good, honest, and decent. She is self-absorbed and requires fawning and worship from her fans. Their numbers are declining; however, the rilly stupid ones still hold hope that she will magically become president--for absolutely no reason at all. Just because. palin is a pathetic, stupid, lying, intellectually challenged, mentally ill whacko whose personal hygiene rilly stinks.
Gabby is a strong, resilient, caring person, as well as a role-model. Can't wait to read her book!

Yes, Gabby is a true hero; as is her husband Mark. Speaking as a full-time caregiver myself, he has my admiration and respect.
ReplyDelete"I now count her as one of my personal heroes."
ReplyDeleteI have for quite some time now, Gryph and, yes, I also got teary seeing that pic of Obama @ her bedside. :-)
"I will get stronger. I will return."
ReplyDeleteRepresentative Giffords, you are one wonderful lady, and millions of people are sending you strength.
As to Mayor Palin - she's done, and the world breathes a sigh of relief.
It is so sad for all the trauma and loss Gabby and her husband have suffered.
ReplyDeleteThey are so very lucky they have each other and such strong faith in overcoming this horrible tragedy.
As for Sarah Palin and her henchman, Todd - I can only hope they are being interviewed by the Feds right now about their role in all of the "gates" and underhanded shenanigans.
I did find it curious on Shailey's latest post "Guilt by Innuendo", she said before she was arrested that the APD were more interested in asking her about Sarah, Todd, and others - they wanted information about their possible role in a prostitution ring
(although I can't remember her exact words) and possibly underage sex trafficking (who was involved as customers/perps/if it was going on, etc). They only arrested her and obtained a search warrant when she didn't provide the information they wanted - about those people.
It seemed to me that Shailey wasn't really the target, but became one in so far as they arrested her primarily because they thought she might have information to the above questions, info that might implicate Todd and his cohorts.
This would explain Sarah Palin inadvertantly (and stupidly) letting the cat out of the bag - referring to a "prostitution ring", when up until that time the only thing that had come out was about Todd soliciting prostitution.
Perhaps the Palins and whoever else was involved were the subjects of an ongoing investigation and maybe the real reason Shailey's property hasn't been returned is that it's still needed for that investigation and future prosecution of the people involved.
Sarah has been awful quiet, but I don't think she plans on going away, there are too many fools left out there that she can scam $$ from - she's not going to leave any stone unturned that she might find some moola under. Unless, of course, she's been arrested.
With women like Gabby Giffords, Elizabeth Warren Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and my own Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand in politics, WHY are Bachmann and Palin even considered as possible candidates for President?
ReplyDeleteFrom the determination and strength she has already shown, I have no doubt that Gabby will return someday to a life of public service. Perhaps not to Congress, but in some position where she can make the world a better place for everyone.
She and Mark Kelly are models of courage, devotion and love for all of us.
Amen.
ReplyDeleteI wonder that people like Sarah who believe so much in God's willful choices of who succeeds and who fails has not become a big supporter of the woman who made a mad man miss killing a still target from just a few feet away? Much left that target with enough brains to still walk circles around Sarah's.
ReplyDeleteCome on Sarah where's your predestination, God's choice, when it is somebody else but you who God chooses.
Giffords is an extraordinarily unfortunate and extraordinarily fortunate person. Yuh think she wants to do some good works with her good luck?
She's my hero, and I'm giving her book as gifts this winter solstice and for birthdays.
ReplyDeleteHer story touched me in a visceral way. A friend of my family was shot at point blank range and his struggle taught me not to take a single second for granted. Without going into too much detail, lets just say his prognosis and outcome is much less hopefull than Gabby's.
What an amazing woman, what an amazing testament to the power of a good marriage and the triumph of good in the aftermath of pure evil.
Sarah's a victim by choice, Gabby refuses to be a victim, but chooses to be a victor. She is an inspiration soley for the person she always was and will be. A woman of honor, a true public servant, and an example of the best a human being can be.
That photo of President Obama by her bed is awe inspiring.
