Waffle House killer was a sovereign citizen who wanted to meet Donald Trump. Update!

Courtesy of USA Today:

The suspected gunman on the run after riddling a Tennessee Waffle House with bullets dubbed himself a "sovereign citizen," before being arrested in July 2017 outside the White House.

Travis Reinking, 29, used that term — which the FBI has also used to describe a group of anti-government extremists — during a clash last year with the Secret Service, according to a police report obtained by USA TODAY.

Reinking told agents he needed to see President Trump and defined himself as sovereign citizen who had a right to inspect the grounds, according to an arrest report by the Metropolitan Police Department in D.C. He was arrested on an unlawful entry charge after refusing to leave the area.

The FBI has said sovereign citizens "believe that even though they physically reside in this country, they are separate or 'sovereign' from the United States."

The agency has also defined sovereign citizens as "anti-government extremists who claim the federal government is operating outside its jurisdiction and they are therefore not bound by government authority—including the courts, taxing entities, motor vehicle departments, and even law enforcement."

You may remember that Alaska's own domestic terrorist, Schaeffer Cox, also identifies himself as a sovereign citizen.

So you know, they're crazy.

After that incident at the White House the Secret Service actually took Renking's guns away and gave them to his father. A solution that had only one problem.

Courtesy of Newsweek:

Police said the father of suspected Waffle House shooter Travis Reinking handed his son back an AR-15 found at the scene, after it had been seized by authorities in relation to another incident.

That's right, daddy gave his guns back.

After all this is America, right?

There is at least one hero here and that is the young man who actually disarmed this killer bare handed.
Courtesy of HuffPo:

James Shaw Jr. said he was dining at the restaurant near Nashville with a friend when suspected gunman Travis Reinking, armed with an AR-15, opened fire at people outside and then inside the establishment just before 3:30 a.m.

Shaw said he jumped behind a nearby door and suffered a minor gunshot wound to his arm in the process. As he waited to see if he would live or die, Reinking’s gun appeared to jam, giving him a chance to charge.

“It was about that time that I made up my mind ― because there was no way to lock that door ― that if it was going to come down to it, he was going to have to work to kill me,” Shaw said at a press conference. “I rushed him and it actually worked out to my favor.”

Shaw tackled Reinking and grabbed the gun’s barrel with his bare hand, an act that badly burned him in the process.

Shaw said he didn’t feel the metal’s scorching heat on his skin. Instead, he continued to grip the firearm before tossing it over a counter. He then proceeded to physically remove Reinking out of the restaurant. Reinking disappeared on foot and remained at large as of late Sunday afternoon.

Thanks to Mr. Shaw's courage there were not more people killed of wounded in this attack.

However it should be noted that if there had been stricter gun laws, or if  Reinking's dad was not such a fucking idiot, Shaw's life would not have been put at risk in the first place.

Getting a gun, especially an AR-15, should not be as easy as buying a pack of gum.

There should be an extensive background check, a waiting period, and then a viable reason given for why you think you need a gun in the first place.

And if the answer given is I hear voices in my head, my bitch of a wife is getting a little mouthy at home, or I am a sovereign citizen and I want to defend myself in case the government comes to take me away, then the answer should be a resounding "NO!"

Update: They finally caught this asshole.
Courtesy of the New York Times:

The police said Monday that they had arrested a suspect in the killing of four people at a Waffle House in Nashville, ending a wide search that had unnerved one of the largest cities in the South.

About 160 law enforcement officials had been involved in the search for the suspect, Travis Reinking, 29, who officials said used an AR-15 rifle to carry out a rampage at a restaurant southeast of downtown on Sunday morning.

The police said they arrested Mr. Reinking on Monday afternoon in a wooded area near the apartment complex where he lived, bringing an end to a manhunt that had stretched into its second day.

Well at least that's some good news.

Two men injured outside a Utah gun show after their weapon exercised its 2nd Amendment rights.

Courtesy of KUTV:

Two men are recovering from gunshot wounds after an accidental discharge in the parking lot of the Mountain America Expo Center in Sandy where the International Sportsmen's Expo was being held.

According to Jason Nielsen from the Sandy Police Department, the two adult men were sitting in their car at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday when one tried to hand a firearm off to the other.

The gun discharged hitting one man in the hand, ricocheting and hitting the other man in the leg.

Both were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The report does not say that the men just purchased the gun at the Sportsmen's Expo but that is likely the case.

Which would mean that almost immediately after purchasing a weapon for protection they were injured by gun fire which could have potentially ended their lives.

There has got to be a lesson here somewhere.

Ohio 8 year old shoots 4 year old sister multiple times. The 2nd Amendment at work.

Courtesy of Mansfield News Journal:

A mother was arrested Saturday evening after an 8-year-old boy shot his 4-year-old sister Saturday afternoon, the Ashland County Sheriff's Office reported.

The sheriff's office was notified around 2:30 p.m. Saturday that the 4-year-old had been shot and sustained injuries that were not considered life-threatening, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

Ashland County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Carl Richert said the 4-year-old was shot "multiple times" and initially treated at University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center before being taken to a Cleveland hospital.

Richert said the girl was in stable condition when she was transported. The child is currently in stable condition and is expected to recover, according to the news release.

The Ashland County Prosecutor's Office will review the case Monday, Richert said.

Both children have been removed from the home, he said.

Multiple times does not seem like an "accidental shooting."

Perhaps this little boy was simply standing his ground and his little sister simply would not stop touching his things?

Or perhaps he simply lives in a house where the adults believe that guns are harmless and only a danger to the "bad guys."

Guns kill. How hard is this for people to understand?

New Jersey teenager celebrated 2018 by taking a semi-automatic rifle and killing almost every member of his family.

Courtesy of WPVI-TV:

Minutes before midnight on New Year's Eve, a 16-year-old boy allegedly used a semi-automatic rifle owned by a family member to shoot and kill his parents, sister and a family friend inside the parents' home in a coastal city in New Jersey, the county prosecutor said.

The teen, whose name has not been released, is in police custody in connection with the shooting deaths of his father, Steven Kologi, 44; mother, Linda Kologi, 42; sister, Brittany Kologi, 18; and a family friend, Mary Schultz, 70, who was residing at the Kologi home in Long Branch, New Jersey, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni and a statement from his office.

The teen's brother and grandfather apparently escaped harm. They "thankfully left the home and came out OK," Gramiccioni said at a press conference Monday morning.

Police arrived on the scene shortly after receiving a call from inside the home about shots fired at 11:43 p.m. on Dec. 31, a statement from the prosecutor's office said.

The boy was arrested at the scene without incident, Gramiccioni said.

Boy it sure is a good thing we have that old 2nd Amendment to keep us safe, don't you think?

Just imagine how long it would have taken a teenager in Australia, Germany, or Britain to slaughter his entire family with a kitchen knife or an axe.

Could have taken as long as a half hour, and more of them might have been able to get away.

But not in America by god. When it comes to murder, we have the best tools to make it highly efficient.

Alabama man thinks somebody is stealing his truck, shoots and kills his own son.

Logan Trammell
Courtesy of WIAT:

Family and friends of 22 year old Logan Trammell are gathering to remember the young musician after a shooting took his life on Christmas Eve.

Trammell’s family says he was driving away from his parents home around 11:30 p.m. on December 24th in one of his father’s vehicles. His father was unaware that his son was borrowing his truck. Fearing the vehicle was being stolen, the family says he yelled out, firing a warning shot in the air in an attempt to get the driver’s attention, and then shot once at the tailgate to stop whomever was taking the truck. Once the vehicle stopped, they say his father realized he had accidentally shot his own son.

“It was just a horrific accident. A horrific accident. My brother thought someone was stealing his truck, never realized it was Logan because he didn’t live down here all the time, he lived with my mom and dad,” Logan’s aunt Tammy Jacobs explained. And he was supposed to be in the bed.”

No. No this was NOT an accident.

This man purposefully took out a firearm and shot at a moving vehicle.

That is a conscious use of deadly force.

People need to stop thinking that guns solve problems, or offer protection,

They don't. They only offer death.

And they endanger everybody around you.

New York man who shot and killed woman he mistook for a deer charged with manslaughter.

Rosemary Billaquist and her murderer.
Courtesy of the New York Daily News:

A hunter in western New York who mistook a 43-year-old woman for a deer was charged with manslaughter on Thursday.

Rosemary Billquist was walking her dogs the day before Thanksgiving in the town of Sherman when she was shot once by Thomas Jadlowski.

Jadlowski called 911 and stayed with Billquist until help arrived, but she was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital in Pennsylvania.

The 43-year-old Billquist was shot at about 5:30 p.m. It is illegal to hunt big game after sunset or before dawn in New York state.

"Today, Mr. Jadlowski is being held accountable for his dangerous and reckless conduct when he shot his neighbor in the dark," Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Commissioner Basil Seggos said.

Jadlowski was charged with hunting after hours and second degree manslaughter.

Of course if this had happened in Texas they probably would have charged the woman's corpse with wandering carelessly into the path of a bullet.

Right Wing flips out as illegal immigrant accused of killing the young woman who inspired "Kate's Law" is found innocent of both murder and manslaughter.

Courtesy of CNN:

A jury on Thursday found an undocumented immigrant not guilty in the July 2015 death of Kate Steinle, a decision that reignited the debate over immigration policy.

Jose Ines Garcia Zarate, 45, was acquitted of murder and involuntary manslaughter charges, as well as assault with a deadly weapon. Jurors convicted the Mexican citizen of being a felon in possession of a firearm, which could bring a three-year sentence.

Prosecutors had argued Garcia Zarate intentionally shot Steinle, 32, with a Sig Sauer .40-caliber handgun as she and her father walked on San Francisco's Pier 14. But Garcia Zarate's defense attorney said the shooting was accidental and the bullet ricocheted off the ground and traveled about 80 feet before hitting Steinle.

Federal immigration officials said they will try to deport Garcia Zarate. He had been deported from the United States five times prior to Steinle's death.

This woman's death became a rallying cry for conservatives, and a tool for Donald Trump to make his argument that we needed to build a "big, beautiful border wall."

She also was the inspiration for Kate's Law, which suggests harsher penalties for illegal immigrants who have repeatedly broken the law.

Of course as soon as Trump heard about this he was all over Twitter.

I'm not sure what Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer have to do with this, but as usual Trump needs to attack someone.

Trump was certainly not the only one to take to Twitter over this.
Oh yeah, if only there had been a wall. Simple minded moron.

Even the Wasilla Wendigo contributed her two cents.
Actually they were given the same rights, as both sides were represented and the jury delivered its verdict based on the evidence.

That is how justice works in this country.

It is indeed a tragedy that this young woman lost her life, but it is also just another among the thousands of deaths each year caused by gun violence.

The only reason the conservatives give two shits about this incident is that it involved an undocumented immigrant.

Period.

Texas man killed by shot to the head while teaching son gun safety. Well that there's an "F" boy.

Courtesy of News4 San Antonio:

The Comal County Sheriff's Office says the 53-year-old man was teaching his son how to shoot on a more than 10 acre private property in Bulverde when it happened.

Deputies say it was an accident. Many in the community are saddened by the news, but local gun expert Jaime Correa says it's not unusual for kids to learn how to handle a gun at such an early age.

Nope it is never too young to teach them young'uns about shooting people in the head.

After all isn't that how people in Texas win arguments? (And Alaska to be honest.)

When that article was written the father was still clinging to life, but he didn't cling for long.

Apparently deer are a lot harder to identify than one might imagine.

Hey Jethro, that there look like a deer to you?
Courtesy of The Post-Journal:

An Ohio man is facing charges after accidentally firing a high-powered rifle at a brown pickup truck he mistook for a deer, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The hunting accident was the second this week in the county and drew a sharp rebuke from Sheriff Joe Gerace, who called Friday’s incident in the town of North Harmony “absolutely irresponsible.”

Deputies charged 26-year-old Marvin C. Miller of Middlefield, Ohio, with second-degree reckless endangerment and discharging a firearm across a roadway. The shooting took place around 11:20 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office reported.

Robert Merritt, of Springboro, Pa., called 911 to report that the pickup truck he was a passenger in had been struck by a bullet. Merritt and the driver, who was not identified, were on an access road heading toward state land on Wiltsie Road.

Miller told deputies and New York State Environmental Conservation police that he had mistaken the pickup truck for a deer when he fired a round from his 7mm high-powered scoped rifle. The bullet struck the vehicle’s front fender on the driver’s side just a few feet from the cab.

The round entered the engine compartment, disabling the truck, the Sheriff’s Office said in a press release. After firing the shot, Miller left the woods and checked on the truck’s occupants.

One the one hand this idiot literally mistook a truck for a deer.

On the other hand it WAS a kill shot, so I guess he can take a little pride in his accuracy.

At least this time there was no loss of human life unlike that unfortunate incident in New York.

Now I am not a hunter, as all of you are well aware, however I HAVE seen a deer or two in my time.

I can legitimately say that I have NEVER mistook a motor vehicle, a person, or even a dog, for a deer in my entire life.

I would think that the ability to make such a distinction should be the very first hurdle that somebody had to negotiate before anybody allowed them to have a hunting license or gave them a firearm.

New York man fires at what he thinks is a deer in his backyard, kills 43 year old woman walking her dogs.

Courtesy of WaPo:

A neighbor, Thomas B. Jadlowski, thought he saw a deer in his back yard 200 yards away and fired a single shot. Then he heard a scream. Realizing he’d shot a person, he ran out to help, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office officials said in a news release.

Jadlowski, 34, called 911 and applied pressure to Rosemary Billquist’s wound until paramedics arrived, according to the sheriff’s office. The bullet had traveled through her hip and out her back, Jamie Billquist said. He rode with his wife to a University of Pittsburgh Medical Center facility in Erie, Pa., where she was pronounced dead.

Jadlowski has not been charged and has been cooperating with investigators, officials said. The case will be reviewed by the Chautauqua County district attorney’s office, which will determine whether Jadlowski will face criminal charges. Officials said the shooting occurred less than an hour after sunset, at a time when it’s illegal to hunt, according to the Associated Press.

Shooting after dark, not properly identifying your target, and now a man has lost his wife, and his life will never be the same.

I certainly think that criminal charges are in order here.

Guns are not a tool. Guns do not protect. Guns are simply an instrument of death.

I will never stop saying that.

81 year old man shows off the gun he carries in case of a church shooting, accidentally fires it wounding both him and his wife.

Courtesy of WaPo:

About 20 elderly people sat down for an early Thanksgiving meal Thursday at a church in East Tennessee, unaware that the pleasant afternoon would take a grim turn.

During their meal, they decided to discuss gun safety in light of recent mass shootings — an idea that came to them after a neighboring county’s sheriff’s department chose to hold similar seminars at its local churches, said Tellico Plains Police Chief Russ Parks.

“Well, I’ve got my gun on me,” an 81-year-old member of First United Methodist Church in Tellico Plains said, according to Parks, whose department investigated the incident. He pulled out his holster, which held a .38-caliber Ruger handgun. He removed the magazine, cleared the chamber and showed the gun to the other parishioners. They talked about how to safely bring guns to church — and how sad it was that so many people nationwide had been killed in recent mass shootings. Earlier this month, a gunman killed 26 people when he opened fire with an assault-style gun during Sunday service at a small Baptist church in Sutherland Springs, Tex.

The 81-year-old man put the magazine back into the gun and put the gun back in the holster, Parks said. Later, while people were cleaning up, a church member who had missed the demonstration asked to see the weapon.

Just as he was about to show it to the church member, the man accidentally pulled the trigger without realizing the gun was loaded.

A bullet fired across the palm of the 81-year-old’s hand and toward his 80-year-old wife, who was sitting in a wheelchair next to him. It ripped through her lower left abdomen, out the right side of her abdomen, into her right forearm and out the backside of her forearm. The bullet then struck the wall and ricocheted, landing under the wife’s wheelchair, Parks said.

This of course is the kind of thing that I have predicted would happen if more people start carrying guns into churches, theaters, malls, and public schools.

But that does not make me any more intelligent than the guy who predicts that if you stand in the rain you are likely to get wet.

It is just common sense.

More guns, simply means more shootings.

People seem to think that guns work like crucifixes do in the movies to ward off vampires, in that simply wearing one keeps you safe from attack.

But that is not the case. If you have a gun on your person you are endangering everybody in your vicinity.

However, this being Tennessee, I doubt that is the lesson these people will learn from this.

I imagine that next you will see this man's wife strapped with a holster so that she can return fire if her husband "accidentally" shoots at her again.

Another white man with a history of domestic violence went on a shooting spree yesterday. Update!

 Courtesy of the LA Times:

A gunman's deadly rampage through rural Rancho Tehama on Tuesday was stopped when police rammed his vehicle and exchanged shots in a fierce gun battle, authorities said.

"The suspect was actually shooting at the police vehicle, back at them, the officer rammed the vehicle, forced it off the road, an exchange of gunfire — resulting in the shooter's death," said Tehama County Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnston.

The shooting ended what authorities described as a 45-minute attack through Rancho Tehama, a quiet reserve about 120 miles northwest of downtown Sacramento.

The gunman at one point terrorized a local elementary school. Witnesses said he crashed through the school's gates with his truck and opened fire, spraying walls and classrooms with bullets. Teachers and other adults on campus frantically got the students under desks.

Before the rampage was over, five people were dead, including the gunman, and at least 10 were wounded.

It could have been much worse if local teachers had not been so quick to respond to the threat.

Courtesy of NBC News:

No children were killed in the shooting spree that began at shortly before 8 a.m. PT in the community of Rancho Tehama Reserve, about 130 miles north of Sacramento, Tehama County Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnston said.

The rampage could have been worse, Johnston said, had not the staff at the school heard gunshots around a quarter-mile away and initiated a lockdown.

"The shooter literally took his vehicle and rammed their fence and gate, entered the grounds on foot with a semiautomatic rifle," Johnston said at a Tuesday afternoon news conference.

"It appears that because he couldn't make access to any of the rooms — they were locked — that he gave it up and re-entered the vehicle and then went on his killing spree and took it to the streets of Rancho Tehama,” Johnston said. "So I really want to say that the quick action of those school officials, there is no doubt in my mind based on the video that I saw, saved countless lives and children."

I say it all the time, but it bears repeating, teachers are the true American heroes. And it should not take a terrible incident like this to remind us of that fact.

As it turns out this lunatic was known by police for being a very violent offender, and was about to go on trial for past crimes:

The gunman who killed four in a sprawling rampage Tuesday before being fatally shot by police was about to go on trial for stabbing and robbing women in his Northern California community.

Kevin Jansen Neal, 43, was charged with assault in January. Little is known about the incident, except that Neal was charged with assault for shooting at two female neighbors through a wooden fence while they were walking. Neal then "jumped the fence, confronted the women, stabbed one and took a cellphone from the other," Tehama County District Attorney Gregg Cohen told Red Bluff Daily News. Authorities said one of the four individuals killed Tuesday was a female previously targeted by Neal in his neighborhood.

Neal, 43, was arrested again in February for assault with a deadly weapon, battery, crimes against an elder or dependent adult and discharging his firearm with gross negligence, among other charges outlined in Red Bluff Police Department logs. Neal was scheduled to stand trial on January 11, 2018, for the assault against the neighborhood women, with trials beginning in December.

And yet he was still able to get his hands on an AR-15 Bushmaster rifle as well as several other firearms.

And why not? This is America ain't it?

Investigators later found the body of Neal's wife hidden under the floorboards in his house, which brings the death toll up to five.

Update: Totally agree with this.

Philadelphia six year old shoots three year old brother after being left home alone without adult supervision.

Courtesy of the Daily Mail:

Police in Philadelphia say a 3-year-old is in critical condition after being shot in the head by his 6-year-old brother.

Authorities say the younger boy suffered a gunshot wound to the left side of his forehead just after 3pm Saturday at the home on the 3600 block of North 18th Street.

Three boys - aged three, six and 12 - were on the second floor of their north Philadelphia home, alone, when the shooting happened.

The six-year-old grabbed the gun and began shooting, hitting his little brother on the left side of his forehead, according to police.

Another careless shooting in the NRA's America.

At least this time the father was charged:

The father of two young boys has been charged after police say one of his sons shot the other inside their Tioga-Nicetown home.

Action News has learned the father, identified as 36-year-old male Sirhaven Williams, has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child, even though, police said the gun belonged to the children's uncle who lived at the home.

Of course he's black which might help to explain why the cops are holding him accountable.

If it had been a white father I am sure they would have simply seen it as an unavoidable accident.

When will people finally understand that guns kill, that is their only purpose.

And having one in the house does not protect anybody, instead it puts every member of the household in danger.

Three men arrested after one of them opens fire at group protesting speech by white supremacist. Update!

Courtesy of ABC Ten News:

A Texas man who fired a shot at a group of protesters after Thursday's Richard Spencer speech at the University of Florida and the two men who encouraged him to open fire have been charged with attempted homicide, Gainesville police said.

Tyler Tenbrink, 28, fired the shot, after he and two brothers in a silver Jeep shouted obscenities, threats and chants about Hitler at the protesters, who were at a bust stop on SW Archer Road, police said. Tenbrink has also been charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

According to the arrest report, William Fears, 30, and Colton Fears, 28, both of Pasadena, Texas, shouted "I'm going to f****** kill you," "kill them" and "shoot them," before Tenbrink fired the shot, which missed and hit a nearby building.

Police said that as the Jeep sped off, one of the protesters was able to get the license plate and reported it to investigators, who relayed it to law enforcement in the area. An off-duty deputy with the Alachua County Sheriff's Office spotted the Jeep with the matching Texas tag around 9 p.m. on I-75 about 20 miles north of Gainesville.

Well good for that guy for having the presence of mind to get the license plate number after being forced to dodge bullets.

According to police, just before 5:30 p.m. Thursday, the men in the Jeep stopped to argue with the group of protesters on Southwest Archer Road and one of the passengers yelled "Hail Hitler" and other chants.

The protesters argued back and one of them hit the rear window of the Jeep with a baton, according to the arrest report.

The Jeep then pulled about 10 feet away, stopped again and Tenbrink got out and pulled a handgun on the protesters as the Fears brothers egged him on, police said.

At least two of the three have shown connections to extremist groups, according to Gainesville police.

Two of the men are being held on a million dollar bond, while the shooter is held on a 3 million dollar bond.

Hey, maybe Donald Trump will post their bond? After all he is the one who helped bring these cockroaches out into the light.

Just another reminder that racists, and apparently wannabe Nazis, are no longer bothering to hide in shame, and are instead taking to the streets to fight for their right to be complete assholes.

Just like their hero.

This is the country we live in now, whether we like it or not.

Update: Apparently this Colton Fear fellow was interviewed by CNN:

Colt Fears, a 28-year-old wearing a pin he described as "an S.S. thing," came to Gainesville from Houston to support Spencer. He said he agrees with about 75% of what Spencer says, but said he thinks Spencer sometimes "beats around the bush."

"He won't address that our entire Hollywood media is run by the Zionist media. He won't address that. There's certain things he won't talk about that people in our movement want him to talk about," Fears said.

Oh yeah, he seems like a sweetheart.

(Thanks to the constant reader who sent me that CNN link. Can't do this without you guys. )

Tina Fey teams up with director of "Game Change" to make film about shooting at Kent State.

Courtesy of Philly Voice:

Tina Fey is co-producing the film “67 shots,” which will depict the events leading up to the 1970 shooting at Kent State University.

The film will be directed by Jay Roach, who previously worked with Fey on “Sisters,” which Roach produced.

Roach’s other work as a director includes “Game Change,” the HBO drama depicting Sarah Palin’s rise to a vice presidential nomination (and, no, Fey did not play Palin), and “Trumbo,” among others. His more recent political work comes after directing franchises like “Austin Powers” and “Meet the Parents.”

The film will be a historical drama detailing the events that led to the shooting of Kent State students during a Vietnam War protest in May 1970. Sixty-seven shots were fired by the Ohio National Guard, four students were killed and nine were injured.

“There was a prevailing movement in the country – they measured it with polls – where the vast majority of Americans blamed the students for what happened,” Roach told Deadline. “We have footage of the people on the streets saying, ‘I wish they’d shot them all.’”

Roach also compared the 1970 events to today’s political protests, specifically the controversy surrounding athletes' choice not to stand for the national anthem.

“The tamer version of this now is the NFL protest, the hatred that comes out for any show of what some people consider lack of patriotism,” he said.

"Four dead in O-h-i-o."

A troll asked me recently how I could have been so politically aware at such a young age.

Well the answer to that were events like this which shocked and inspired my generation to become more aware and ultimately more involved in the political process.

For me this was a seminal event in my life, and it definitely impacted how I saw government and the military for decades to come.

And I think a movie about it at this time in America will send a very powerful message about how terrible things can become in this country if we do not stand up as speak truth to power.

The feud between Dakota Meyer and the "King of Instagram" heats up.

Here @danbilzerian I'm done with your petty games. Don't ever drag my family into anything. I'm waiting

A post shared by Dakota Meyer (@dakotameyer0317) on

Courtesy of The Daily Mail:

The veteran Marine and Medal of Honor winner sparring with King of Instagram Dan Bilzerian over how he responded to the Las Vegas massacre has taken their feud to new heights.

On Saturday, Dakota Meyer challenged Bilzerian to a fist fight, claiming in a video that the playboy social media star had been sharing his wife Bristol Palin's phone number with his friends since their public spat began.

You guys undoubtedly remember that this whole thing started when Dakota called Bilzerian a coward for running from the massacre in Las Vegas.

Since then apparently this feud has blown up with Bilzerian calling Meyer a "retard," which is a little on the nose if you ask me, and now apparently writing Bristol's number on bathroom walls. (Just like high school, right Bris?)

And now Dakota wants to trade punches with Bilzerian.

'It's one thing you talk about me all day, I don't care. But here's the problem. My purpose in life is family.

'You wanna bring my family in this, you wanna put my wife in danger by putting her phone number out to people? You got your little friends trying to FaceTime her?

'My life's not a game and it's not entertainment either so what I will tell you is, my family's purpose is my purpose and now you're my mission.'

Meyer, staring coldly into the camera, continued: 'This ain't an option. You just need to tell me when and where and if not we'll be somewhere together, I'm sure.

'Why don't we handle this like men? You got it? You got it, Dan? I'm waiting.'

Oh he seems SO butch, does he not?

Now of course the problem with this is that historically Meyer  does not do well in the hand to hand combat department, remember he once got beat down by a woman in a bar fight.

The second problem is that Bilzerian clearly does not skip out on gym day.

Now muscles are not everything, but I think that Meyer still gets winded putting on his socks so he might want to keep this fight online, where he will not end up even more humiliated than when he actually married a Palin.

Of course this whole thing is ridiculous, and these two men are acting like children.

The only reason I give them any attention is because....well because mocking Dakota is a nice change from mocking Donald Trump.

And let's face facts here, guys have probably been calling Bristol's phone ever since the wedding.

Not sure if it is fair to blame this idiot for that.

Dakota Meyer attacks somebody at the Las Vegas mass shooting for running away instead of getting killed.

So here is the actual video that this Dan Bilzerian fellow posted, as you can see he was unarmed during the shooting but said he got a gun and headed back. Though of course there was nothing to be done. Now look I really don't know, or care much about this Bilzerian guy. He could be a real douchebag, and according to his Instagram account that is probably somewhat accurate.

But I am still not sure what compelled Meyer to go after him like that on social media.

First off the guy was unarmed, which according to some messages on Dakota's Instagram makes him a pussy right there.

But secondly even if he was armed with a handgun, HOW would that have helped?

The gunman was firing an automatic weapon from the 32nd floor into a crowd of people.

NOBODY fires a handgun and hits a guy 32 floors up except in the dumbest action movies ever made.

The best this guy could probably have done was to shoot out windows on the 20th or 25th floor and hit some poor bastard who was up to that point completely safe.

As for leaving that woman shot in the head, yeah maybe this guy could have provided help if he is trained to do so, but most likely he would have simply been killed as well.

Nobody knows what they would do in a similar circumstance, and only an asshole insults somebody running from a hail of gunfire.

At the time of this post the death toll stands at 58, with 515 wounded.

If this Dan Bilzerian had followed Dakota's advice he would quite likely be number 59, or if lucky number 516.

Mass shooting in Las Vegas. Update!

A gunman fired a barrage of bullets on an outdoor country music festival in Las Vegas Sunday night, killing at least 50 people and injuring more than 400 others, police said, in the worst mass shooting in modern American history.

From his room on the 32nd floor of a glitzy hotel, the shooter, identified by law enforcement officials as Stephen Paddock, 64, of Mesquite, Nevada, fired shot after shot down on the crowd of more than 22,000, sending terrified concertgoers running for their lives.

“We heard what sounded like firecrackers going off. Then all of a sudden we heard what sounded like a machine gun. People started screaming that they were hit… When we started running out there were probably a couple hundred [people] on the ground,” witness Meghan Kearney told MSNBC.

"People kept dropping and dropping… People were getting shot one foot away from us," she said. “People were trying to save their friends. There were gunshots everywhere. Helping them would’ve meant that we got shot, too.”

There are reports that this man had as many as ten rifles in his possession, and that he killed himself before the police reached him.

As you can hear from this footage the man clearly used at least one fully automatic weapon, which is supposedly illegal.

Currently the motivation for the shooting is unclear.

This is a terrible, terrible tragedy and is being called the worst shooting in American history.

Update: Trump weighs in.
"Warmest condolences?"

Update 2: Trump is now speaking about the shooting. He is actually quoting scripture.

Plans to visit Las Vegas on Wednesday. I assume to make sure none of his properties were hit by gunfire.

Update 3: Hillary Clinton offers the leadership that Trump cannot.

Now you know why the NRA worked so hard to defeat her.

Update 4: Let's put this to rest, shall we?

Michigan toddler finds gun in child care center, immediately exercises his 2nd Amendment rights.

Courtesy of the AP:

Police say a toddler accidentally shot and wounded two other children at a home day care facility in suburban Detroit.

Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad says a preliminary investigation has determined that the toddler “accessed a handgun and the weapon discharged” at around 10:20 a.m. Wednesday.

Police said Thursday that the wounded 3 years olds are in serious but stable condition at a hospital.

Haddad says the gun was kept in the Dearborn home. Several other children were in the home at the time of the shooting. They were taken to the police station to be reunited with their parents.

No one has been charged. Police say investigators plan to meet with prosecutors to determine whether charges will be brought.

I guess I can kind of understand why somebody would want a gun in the house for protection.

Kind of.

But a gun in a home that also serves as a child care center?

And to leave it accessible to the children in your care?

No, that I will NEVER understand.

Another senseless shooting. This time at a church in Tennessee.

Courtesy of Tennessean:

One person was killed and eight others wounded Sunday after a man in a ski mask opened fire following a church service in Antioch.

The shooter, identified as Emanuel Kidega Samson, a 25-year-old Rutherford County man, accidentally shot himself after he was confronted by an armed member of the congregation and is being treated at the hospital, according to Metro Nashville Police.

Police say the gunman wore a neoprene ski mask when he shot and killed a woman in the parking lot of Burnette Chapel Church of Christ, as the service was ending shortly after 11 a.m. With his blue Nissan Xterra still running, the gunman then entered the rear sanctuary doors of the church and began "indiscriminately" shooting, police said.

Among those shot were three men and three women, police spokesman Don Aaron said.

Apparently the gunman was confronted by an usher at the church and while pistol whipping the man he inadvertently shot himself in the chest.

He ultimately survived and is in police custody.

No reason has been given for the shooting.

Just another day in the NRA's America.
