Here is a blast from the past. Alaska's most famous singer mocks its most famous disappointment.

I have to say, as an Alaskan I am proud of Jewel.

I think my feelings toward Palin are fairly well known.

(Here is a hint: Not proud.)

  1. off topic - G. I need your help! my daughter bakes my hubby makes awesome soup and chilli - but I don't have any "signature" dish to bring along to family get togethers and pot lucks -- would you be willing to share your spinach dip recipe ???? I would give you full credit for it of course! (and a donation too)

  2. And Doonesbury puts a cap on Sarah's relevance.

Sarah blows the flute just like she did Glen Rice...

A question for Palin troll... can you tell us how Todd feels about Sarah banging Glen Rice?

I am sure the Glen Rice story helps the happy strong family "love" each other more.

  4. I had heard of Jewel, of course, but was not familiar with the early details of her career.

So off topic, but what's up with the Mercede Facebook post I just saw screen-shotted at Serpent's Heart? Makes me wonder all over again about Trig being Tripp before he was Trig. There ARE two Tripps.

Doonesbury squarely hits the nail, and the reason for the upsurge in troll infestation here. Irrelevancy.

They "thought" they were going to be THE First Family of REAL America. They didn't count on REAL Americans vetting them, as they should have been in 2008, and putting the truth out for all the world to see.

Weeks of silence to regroup and try a different tactic, and out they come just to be smacked down again. It's a SAD SAD commentary on a "family" so desperate to matter....and flat out doesn't.

    That was funny.

Jewel may have allowed her handlers to embellish her frontier narrative, but she was never spectacularly abusive of it (talking about eating Moose stew 24/7) and she had the talent to carry her toward stardom regardless her background.

Sarah was an ordinary person from an extraordinary land (and that's giving Wasilla a lot of credit, even though they do have a road system and gorgeous scenery, they are for the most part seriously myopic) whereas Jewel was an extraordinary person from an extraordinary land.

Jewel did let down Alaskans a few times both when she canceled her Alaska State Fair appearance and her New Year's Eve concert at the PAC. Lots of people never forgave her for those last minute cancellations and accused her of "selling out". While she was famous for being from Homer, when she gave her bio to reporters in the early 90's she said that she grew up in a van in San Diego.

I wonder how many outraged death threats Jewel and her family received for this silly piece.

This was funny. Except Sarah's followers would just obsess over the "Die," part.

Brilliantly funny! Jewel was always stunningly beautiful and talently gifted, but in contrast to dirty wig, she's a knock out!

Don't feed the trolls!
It just goes directly to their thighs.
