So THAT'S how it works!! Now, I guess we just need to step back, click our heels three times and let Mittens save the world by raising taxes on the middle class, tearing down the social safety nets and giving some more people their pink slips...

All of this has been OUR fault because we didn't BELIEVE hard enough

  4. Blind faith without brain attached is a pox on this world.
Trying to force that faith on others should be a goddamn felony.

That really says it all, doesn't it?

I got a chain email once that was full of rwnj lies. The person who sent it put a note at the top that said,"I know if you look at Snopes, they say that none of this is true but I'm sending it out anyway because I like what it says."

“We owe a huge debt to Galileo for emancipating us all from the stupid belief in an Earth-centered or man-centered (let alone God-centered) system. He quite literally taught us our place and allowed us to go on to make extraordinary advances in knowledge.”
    ― Christopher Hitchens

The biggest lie in religion is that believing in things w/out evidence or reason is somehow virtuous.

  8. How odd.
They are pretty much admitting that their faith is teaching things that are not factually true, and if you are really really faithful you can overcome these "facts".

Are they talking about evolution, birth control, global warming,
    white male supremacy?
I'd be thinking about my faith if I belonged to that church and wondering what lies they were telling me.

Some examples that illustrate how a low-fact diet regimen can impair brain function. (Warning: DON'T drink coffee while you read these - you'll spray it all over the place.)

Unflippin believable, but people do believe it!

    -------------

That, and they seem to think their opinions on "reality" somehow determine what reality _is_.

In science, reason, and sanity, reasons come first, and are the basis of any beliefs held later.

Religions have a completely backwards view, putting belief first, and reasons second.

  15. I have always been partial to the idea of reincarnation myself. After all..."You must be born again..." and Jesus says he will return. Makes sense to me. These idiots will have a lot of lives ahead of them to straighten out their little mistakes (not that I don't think I do too). But we all have our ideas of how things are. Mine are just mine.

My favorite church sign was one in Coatsville, NC that read: "Jesus is Coming" followed by "Pray for Our Troops."

And I thought "Wow, He must be heavily armed!"

  19. Religious wars have caused untold millions, if not billions, of deaths throughout human history. It's all about CONTROL, not faith.

"My religion is better than your religion, therefore, you are a heathen and must be put to death." That's their message.

Thus, I don't DO conventional religion and will NOT ALLOW anyone to shove their rantings and ravings down my throat. To each their own - and I have my own thoughts about the matter which I protect at all costs - thank you very much.
