The President's Weekly Address. The Christmas Edition.

Look, the President said "Merry Christmas" AND expressed holiday wishes to people of different faiths.

Do you see how it's done now Republicans?

And did it really seem that hard?

  4. It's good, but I always liked those Bush-era "Barney" home-movies. Call me demented but they were so bad they were good.

Merry Christmas to all! Especially good wishes to President Obama who is leading our nation in such a good manner. He also has a wonderful family! To hell w/the Republicans in Congress - vote them out of office next election cycle. President Obama is doing a hell of a job in spite of their trying to discredit him. He is so far above any of the Repubs in the primary race - he will clean any of their clocks!

There have been several posts of late attacking Pres Obama's vacation cost. Of course no one compares to the costs of former Pres Bush. Here are a few facts to combat their lunacy:
President Bush took 149 trips to Camp David, 77 visits to his Crawford ranch, and 11 trips to his father's Kennebunkport mansion. Since Air Force One reportedly cost $56,800 per hour to operate in 2004 (which Bush used to get to Crawford), and the plane can travel up to 630 miles per hour, it cost at least $259,657 to get the 2,880 miles to Crawford and back, each time Bush went, or roughly $20 million dollars just for taking the plane on the Crawford trips alone. Add in the cost of putting up Secret Service and other staff for the ranch trips, as well as the Kennebunkport and Camp David trips, and you get, well, a lot.

I was pretending that this was Sarah and her habit of tongue protrusion...and then it ended and I laughed REALLY HARD (though secretly wishing that the last scene was a wolf), but this worked too...

    Thank You!

The First Couple make me so proud. Mrs Obama's causes make sense, she's one of the few First Ladie's who are passionate and active, yet humble.

Look at the expression on President Obama's face while she speaks. Words fail.

    Go Obama, Five more years!

My sincerest gratitude to you, Grypen. Your blog offers so much content and opinion not seen anywhere else, and my gratitude for your efforts is boundless.

    Happy Holidays!

My minister tonight emphasized that we are all one human family, that we are all joined together - when something bad happens to one of us, it happens to all of us. That each of us has the right to live in dignity, as well as in brotherhood and peace with our fellow man.

Those are truly Christian sentiments. It's not about political power or worldly domination at all. It's about gentle compassion, loving kindness.

Happy Holidays to all ;-). (He made a joke about this, too.)

Happy Solstice, Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, Merry whatever you choose. And may 2012 be the turn-around year, when history will show that mankind began to actually lead from the heart - solving problems with compassion as well as reason.

President and Mrs. Obama already show these qualities for all to see. Now, that is true leadership. No wonder the 'Right' (to generalize) is fighting this so viciously. Once TRUTH is revealed in a tangible and visible way, it cannot be stuffed back into imagination and argued about philosophically, any more than a new born baby can be put back in the womb. It's a new day, and we are creating the new world - together.

I am immensely grateful for your strong and passionate dedication to TRUTH, Gryphen. Thank you.

And I feel very honoured and privileged to be vibrantly connected with most of the contributers to this vital blog.

Enjoy this holiday season, it is sacred because Life is sacred. I hold you in my heart.

  21. Thank you for posting this, Gryphen. I love our POTUS and his lady so much. It is nice to hear such a heart warming greeting from them, and a reminder to honor our service men and women who fight for us, and put their lives on the line.

Merry Christmas everyone, and here is a little poem I wrote for FB:

    It was early Christmas morning,
    I hopped out of bed.
I had forgotten to set the bread machine
to make our Christmas morning raisin bread.

I added the water, the butter, the cinnamon, the cloves,
the nutmeg, the raisins, and on the list goes.

I turned on the bread machine, and set it for raisin bread,
with visions of a nice loaf for Christmas morning in my head.

Here's hoping the bread rises, as it always does,
and hoping your Christmas is all filled with love.

Anon @ 9:54 - I gave up attending any kind of service, no longer pretending to practice a faith I don't have.

Faith does not make me or break me. I don't have to support a zombie that was a pretty spectacular man but a ridiculous idol worthy of worship that would no doubt embarrass or worse, humiliate him.

I still have a good heart and good will toward man. I am a glad American who supports our troops but am glad to have them depart Iraq and can't wait to leave Afghanistan. I pay my dues to this country, not whining a whit about taxes.

I would appreciate your minister, and it would make it bearable to be captive for two hours on this still wonderful night I observe and honor for whatever reasons.

  24. The clip is smarmy and egregious and patronizing. I admire and respect
Barack and Michelle Obama, and would vote for him for President every Tuesday for the next 5 years if I could.
