Elizabeth Warren not just a candidate, she's a cause!

Courtesy of Business Insider:

Elizabeth Warren raised $5.7 million over the last three months of 2011 for her challenge to Republican Senator Scott Brown who currently sits in the seat once occupied by Ted Kennedy. That haul of cash is twice what Brown raised in the same quarter.

Warren still has a long way to go to match Brown dollar for dollar – he has $12.8 million cash on hand – but she has something that Brown has lost.

She is not just her party's nominee; her candidacy is a cause for liberals nationwide.

Warren's candidacy is the rallying point for liberals who believe Wall Street exercises too much power over the American Republic. She stands for re-regulating it, and promoting a vision of America as a commonwealth, where everyone has a stake in each other's success.

Like I have mentioned a few times before, if I lived in Massachusetts I would be all over this campaign.

If Warren takes this seat away from ex-Teabagger candidate Scott Brown, that will be a HUGE shot in he arm for the progressives in this country and it will really demonstrate that the mood of the country has taken a very interesting shift toward intelligent governance.

I think I am going to LOVE 2012!

Elizabeth still has to win the nomination. There is a video of Scott Brown talking with one of the Koch brothers thanking him for his donation and asking him if he can count on his support in this upcoming election.

If you think about it, if House & Senate elections are funded from outside each state why do we have 50 states, 435 house members and 100 senators. We might as well have just one Rep and one Senator. Save a lot of money and fewer zombies to deal with.

She has people beating down her door to volunteer - we still have our share of teabaggers and faux news watchers. Ugh.

I live in New Mexico and I love Elizabeth Warren enough to send $50 to her election fund in Massachusetts.

The Tea Party has had its day. There is no staying power in ridiculousness. Just look at Sarah Palin.

  4. I live in deep red East Tennessee, so I have no representation. I have chosen Bernie Sanders as my Senator and I give campaign donations. I am doing the same thing with Elizabeth Warren, hoping she will be my other Senator!

I live in Massachusetts. On MLK Day my family hosted a table at A Day of Service to write letters of support to service members. EW arrived and of course there was a bit of buzz among the volunteers. She stayed at the event for an hour and a half to make scarves/blankets for the homeless, education packets for pre-schoolers and she sat at our table for 15 minutes to write a long letter of support. She never asked me for my vote, but she thanked me and my 12 year old son for organizing the table. Her staff asked if we would like to take a picture with her. By dinner that night I received an email from her staff with the picture thanking us for volunteering. I have already donated to her campaign, but I will say that Scott Brown is no match for Prof. Warren. She is a class act.

From what I've read, I really like Elizabeth Warren and wished she stayed ahead of the federal committee for consumer affairs. I believe she could have really made a difference for all consumers. But, not is all lost, and she will also be a very outspoken Senator not just for her state, but for the whole country.

I really hope she wins her election, and I will be keeping tract on election day, even though I live in Florida.

  8. I, too, support Elizabeth Warren and have contributed to her campaign through ActBlue.

But, if she's elected - and I certainly hope she will be - I bet a lot of her supporters will be disappointed in her just as so many of Obama's supporters were disappointed in his "failure" to be as progressive as they wanted.

The "progressive" Dems are as naive about the political system as the TeaBaggers on the Right are. Warren can never live up to the expectations of her supporters, given the realities of the American political system. I'm sure her rabid supporters will be crushed when she can't deliver all THEY'RE expecting her to deliver.

Disappointed (and naive) Dems sat out the 2010 Congressional elections because they were "mad" at Obama, and the TeaBagging Congress was the result. Let's not make the same mistake about the 2012 election. Fellow Dems, please don't sit out this election or say, "meh, they're all the same". They're not.

And don't - please don't - expect perfection from (hopefully) Senator Elizabeth Warren. She's sure to disappoint you.

If Massachusetts is in the same kind of mindset as Wisconsin, and I think the voters there are, then Warren will win in a landslide and Brown will be in the same boat as Walker, looking for that lobbying job that was promised them.

I was hoping she'd run for president.

I think she may be the only person in the Beltway that hasn't been bought off or influenced by Wall Street and corporate lobbyists.

Well I like her and hope she wins but Scott "Tea Party" Brown has turned out to be pretty dang moderate...He is not on the top ten list of Repubs I'd like to see replaced. But each one helps.

I wish we had more like her.

Scott Brown has never earned by respect as has Ms. Warren.

We need more Liz's in politics. I'm always amazed at how well she connects with the voters and explains things in a way everyone can understand, yet she doesn't come off as "snooty". She's the genuine article, I see great potential in her future, she's got the guts, brains and grit to get things done for the 99 percent.
