I am by NO means a Ron Paul supporter, but I think his political ad, "Imagine," should be seen far and wide.

If only this guy were not a rabid anti-women's rights, racist, homophobic Republican.

Just imagine.

  1. Honestly I have no desire to see any ad Ron Paul puts out for any reason. He is not just a republican he is a Libertarian which =Koch Brothers and NO message he has would interest me. Why listen to a lie to start with?

  4. This is a must read for Obama supporters on the topic of Ron Paul: http://www.salon.com/2011/12/31/progressives_and_the_ron_paul_fallacies/singleton/

A section copied here that relates this post:

"the minute “Ron Paul” is mentioned. As soon as his candidacy is discussed, progressives will reflexively point to a slew of positions he holds that are anathema to liberalism and odious in their own right and then say: how can you support someone who holds this awful, destructive position? The premise here — the game that’s being played — is that if you can identify some heinous views that a certain candidate holds, then it means they are beyond the pale, that no Decent Person should even consider praising any part of their candidacy.

The fallacy in this reasoning is glaring. The candidate supported by progressives — President Obama — himself holds heinous views on a slew of critical issues and himself has done heinous things with the power he has been vested."

And then Greenwald goes on to list facts about Obama's actions, policies, and appointments.

Adama Brown revealed more of Ron Paul through more of his newsletters - and points out that the things Paul says is actually the way the right wing thinks. Paul's only sin in their minds is to have put it on paper and lose "plausible deniability."
    http://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/12/31/1050321/-Meet-the-real-Ron-Paul-

While I've suspected Paul was quite possibly one of the Theoc-licans since 2007-08, it was more from what he wouldn't say than from things he actually said. He's been more explicit on the "fallacy" of separation of church and state than I realized. It seems "Mr Constitution" has his own version of a lot of it.

As Ron Paul and other TeabaKKkers attempt to stick it to the Feds w/ a frothy mixture of anger and stupidity, especially in places like Montana where they gained a super-majority in 2010 and are now, like Ron Paul, full off into Nullification and other nutty right-wing notions, the Montana Supreme Court - which is not a bunch of nutty TeabaKKKers - has decided to stand up to the SCOTUS and have ruled that Citizens United does NOT apply in Montana. The majority opinion of the Court is quite compelling. This will be a good case to watch.

Those who marginalize Paul for any alleged anti-gay or racist stances are only buying into fabrications by the controlled media that HATE his anti-Israel stance, which is political suicide in this land and perfectly explains why they either don't report on him or put out deliberate misrepresentations like those mentioned above. If you think the US should conduct all its foreign policy, domestic "security" and wars to accommodate Israel and its rabid supporters, many on the religious right, he's not your man.

I really want 2012 to be the year babygate breaks. Trig hasn't even lived with Sarah in ages, it's time she is no longer allowed to hide behind the "self sacrificing mother of special needs child" meme.

To that end, I am putting out any tidbit which might shed light on this issue. Personally, I believe Trig is the bio child of Bristol and Levi. BUT- I have heard multiple rumours about Lauden Bruce being more out of sight than normal during December 07 - January 08. Which also coincides with the time I think Trig was actually born. (sometime between dec 07 - feb 08)

Ron Paul holds too many positions that are anathema to me to vote for him. But I do appreciate his candor, and some of his POV resonates. What he is very good at, which benefits us all, is in his role as catalyst. This has historically been the role of the Libertarian Party, whether they like the moniker or not - their candidates are never electable, but they do play a very important outsider role in contributing to the health and progression of our electoral process, as agitators, stimulators, sharp sticks that make us think deeper as Americans. A lot of this, in my opinion, has to do with their candor, their unfettered political character, in stark contrast to the political pap we most often are served by the majority parties. I appreciate them, very very much, but within these confined parameters.

"I pray every night that God will hear the cries of His people and raise up a Godly warrior who will lead us out of the mess we are in. I also hint to Him who I believe that is ;)"

The whole Republican primary process is such an obviously orchestrated offense on Obama and positioning for Romney, I hope some of you can see this.

Ron Paul - dark horse to peel the youth and anti-war voters away from Obama, should the powers that be decide he should end up running third party in order to do so.

Santorum, Gingrich, Bachmann, etc. - all dark horses to peel votes away from each other and leave Mitt Corporate Robot Romney the only one standing.

Palin - the Faux News "pundit" who carefully praises all of the above except Romney (who she studiously ignores, including to criticize) just enough so that their supporters won't defect en masse to just one of them who would then pose a real threat to Mitt Corporate Robot Romney.

Here's my issue with ultra Libertarian views -

Returning powers to the states that were specifically reserved for the Federal government will weaken our country to its breaking point; finishing off what our corrupt corporate politicians have started.

The United States will always need a strong central government. The "founding fathers" figured that out after a few years of trying to hold the fledgling United States together under the failed Articles of Confederation (and Perpetual Union)of 1777.

In my opinion thinking that decentralized government is a viable option in these times is flawed thinking.

    Reproductive rights ARE women's rights.

Allowing states to decide who controls our bodies will result in millions of women cut off from making decisions based on what's best for them and their families.

Women will continue to have reasons to terminate unwanted pregnancies and they will continue to look for ways to abort. Certain states will decriminalize abortion and take control of the pregnancies within their borders. Doctors will be severely ham-stringed in relationships with their patients and we will see more and more women and children on public assistance in those states.

Meanwhile, wealthy women will always be able to secure abortions, no matter where they live.

Ron Paul would vote against abortion rights in his state based on his emotions, just as he would vote against same sex marriage in his state because he finds it icky.

Atlas Shrugged belongs on the bookshelves of college students who leave it behind when they grow up and realize that a world full of men out for only themselves would be a bleak one indeed.

  52. If a origressuve rules out Paul because of some of his heinous policies, then one must look at Obama as well:

"The fallacy in this reasoning is glaring. The candidate supported by progressives — President Obama — himself holds heinous views on a slew of critical issues and himself has done heinous things with the power he has been vested. He has slaughtered civilians — Muslim children by the dozens — not once or twice, but continuously in numerous nations with drones, cluster bombs and other forms of attack. He has sought to overturn a global ban on cluster bombs. He has institutionalized the power of Presidents — in secret and with no checks — to target American citizens for assassination-by-CIA, far from any battlefield. He has waged an unprecedented war against whistleblowers, the protection of which was once a liberal shibboleth. He rendered permanently irrelevant the War Powers Resolution, a crown jewel in the list of post-Vietnam liberal accomplishments, and thus enshrined the power of Presidents to wage war even in the face of a Congressional vote against it. His obsession with secrecy is so extreme that it has become darkly laughable in its manifestations, and he even worked to amend the Freedom of Information Act (another crown jewel of liberal legislative successes) when compliance became inconvenient.

He has entrenched for a generation the once-reviled, once-radical Bush/Cheney Terrorism powers of indefinite detention, military commissions, and the state secret privilege as a weapon to immunize political leaders from the rule of law. He has shielded Bush era criminals from every last form of accountability. He has vigorously prosecuted the cruel and supremely racist War on Drugs, including those parts he vowed during the campaign to relinquish — a war which devastates minority communities and encages and converts into felons huge numbers of minority youth for no good reason. He has empowered thieving bankers through the Wall Street bailout, Fed secrecy, efforts to shield mortgage defrauders from prosecution, and the appointment of an endless roster of former Goldman, Sachs executives and lobbyists. He’s brought the nation to a full-on Cold War and a covert hot war with Iran, on the brink of far greater hostilities. He has made the U.S. as subservient as ever to the destructive agenda of the right-wing Israeli government. His support for some of the Arab world’s most repressive regimes is as strong as ever." www.salon.com/2011/12/31/progressives_and_the_ron_paul_fallacies/singleton
