Just in case you did NOT know that John McCain is a senile old fart, completely divorced from reality. Update.

"Picking Sarah Palin for VP? Uh, well, um, sure it was the best idea ever! Just curious, did she send you to ask me"
Courtesy of the Huffington Post:

John McCain has no regrets about the biggest and most controversial decision of his unsuccessful 2008 presidential campaign. Speaking to Sean Hannity on Tuesday evening in New Hampshire, McCain said naming Sarah Palin his running mate was "still the best decision I've ever made."

The "best idea I've ever made?" WTF?

How bad is this guy's decision making abilities?

And why can't this asshole just admit that plucking her out of he wilds of Wasilla and plopping her, and her hillbilly clan, onto the national stage was perhaps the worst thing to happen to this county since the Japanese made a surprise visit to Honolulu?

I wonder, is it ego, or fear of the dreaded Palin curse? Remember how we once considered him a war hero?

Well of course Fox News had to quickly inform Palin of what McCain had said about her and ask for her response.

Image courtesy of Love & Knishes
Sadly though nobody could make out what Palin had to say due to the presence of an unruly new hairpiece.

Personally I think it is a vast improvement.

Update: By the way, since we are talking about Palin, it should be noted that the so-called "Palin Earthquake" did not even add up to a flea fart, as she did not even receive one, that's right NOT ONE, vote in the New Hampshire primary.

"Best decision ever" McCain?

Not even a tremor.... Sarah didn't even get 1wtite-in vote!!! lol

It's all over but the contract with FOX which must feel like a ball and chain to them now. I wonder if they think signing her was the best decision they ever made. Yeah, right. They all got what they deserve. McCain, FOX and Sarah. Good riddance.

When I look at that picture of McCain, I can totally picture Steve Martin playing McCain in a movie about the 2008 election. Am I right?

  4. OK, I've figured out what John McCain meant: "Having Sarah Palin as my VP running mate was the best decision I ever made because it ensured that we lost the election and I didn't *really* want to be President, and Barack Obama is doing a fine job anyway; better than I coulda done."

See? This way, he's perhaps not really the old coot we think he might be.

    Haha! Love it.

McCain's statement about Sarah Palin just proves what we've been saying - that the GOP, and whomever specifically was involved in the VP fiasco, want to make sure it is never exposed to more thorough investigation. If they insist there was nothing wrong with what they did, they keep everyone at bay and off the story.

Too bad for them, saying it doesn't always make it so! And they don't get to decide what's worth investigating, either.

Sheer ego and the fear that someone will chisel "Unleashed the she-beast that is Sarah Palin" on his tombstone.

Remember his very weird "She's my soulmate" comment? He wasn't commenting on her intelligence, or statecraft abilities. She charmed the hell out of that old goat, as she hoped to do to Obama during the Alfalfa Dinner.

That's why we see her frantically trying to hold on to her looks.

Maybe McCain's goal was to stick it to the Republican party, which had not been good to him.

It goes without saying, but I will say it anyway...This is exactly the reason why he lost the election. In 2008, I really thought that a black man would never be elected to be our president. I believed that it wouldn't matter who was running, how obviously corrupt he might be; anyone running against Barack Obama would win. But McCain's senility, idiocy and complete failure of judgement shone through and he LOST because he chose a totally incompetent, corrupt, functionally illiterate imbecile to be his running mate.

The fact that he considers the decision to be the correct one shows his true incapacity and I find it really revealing of his lack of awareness that he doesn't realize that he would most certainly be dead right now if he had been elected.

  10. It was the best decision he ever made because he had no intention of being president. The look on his face during his concession speech was pure relief.

Why doesn't Sarah Palin speak the English language? She can't form coherent sentences, and she can't pronounce everyday English words: "real," "field," "deal."
Shouldn't we have a Constitutional Amendment requiring that all Vice Presidential candidates speak the language that Jesus gave to the Founding Fathers?

How's that for all your RECONSIDER ads in my home state, you Pbotz?

Yesterday, I worked from my home office, and there were at least 3 local ads on AM radio chanting
"Go rogue, vote Paylin!", "write in $arah Paylin"

Holy Toledo $arah, you didn't even GET ONE VOTE!!!

MIchelle your girlie show rival got 353 after QUITTING the race?

Herbie "I'm innocent" Cain got 152 votes.

$arah, you got even less votes that Hugh Cort, the lunatic, ultra right idiot nutcase from Alabama.

    Quote:
"If elected, Cort said, he would bomb Iran and Syria and flood Iraq with a quarter-million more American troops. Cort pledged he would end abortions the moment he was sworn in by signing an executive order halting them, and he said he would push Congress to pass an amendment mandating that marriage is between a man and woman only."

Has to hurt you Pbotz too, to think that your hero didn't get ONE Earthquake vote

Guess that ad money went to a great cause , didn't it?

Selecting Palin did accomplish firing up their base and won over evangelicals who would not question facts about one who claims their christian values. So that goal was accomplished.

As a friend stated, Palin has caused more trouble, fighting and divisiveness. It took a while for people to check out facts for themselves instead of buying into facts are lies to attack the godly Palins.

In less than two months enough people came forward for the good of our country speaking up she was unfit for VP. I sense McCain staffer might have. Palin gave McCain a boost and drawing bigger crowds. That part worked for him.

John really, really wanted Joe Lieberman(sp.) to be his running-mate. When the "powers" in the GOP said no way, John said "screw you" and chose the worst person he could find. Voila~we have scarah. So, in that sense it would have been his best decision.

Could've been worse. Much worse. At least Palin isn't really influential and didn't make real waves after the election was over. Everything that has happened could have been multiplied by 2000 and there could have been bloodshed and an actual war.

So, just think, it could have been worse if she were someone who ACTUALLY knows how to manipulate and harness power. I will say she did help to get people to look twice at what is REALLY happening in DC, the democrats' manipulations and lies that the media otherwise ignores. But, again, only a small segment of society actually listens to her.

If Sarah has done one thing, it is starting the process of actually vetting Obama (albeit late) and really digging into his plans. He is THE master manipulator and will be remembered as such one day.

I'm not sure why he chose to say "best decision ever". There are so many choices we make in life about family and career and he feels of ALL of the ones he's made, that was the best? Come on. He could have just said something like "I feel Sarah and I created the best GOP ticket that would have been great for leading our country." Well, that would be expecting something intelligent coming out of a repub and that doesn't happen vey often and explains why he and Sarah lost. They spent too much time spewing absurdities thinking they could fool voters. It didn't work, thank goodness.

McCain still suffers under "old misogynist white guy" delusion that picking a woman, any woman, was the good choice, because after all, "turn 'em upside down and they're all the same." Now he thinks he can't say anything against that woman because he's projected his delusion onto everyone else.

I'm certain that he does know that his decision was one of the greatest mistakes of his political career. Also, McCain is stumping for Romney, and Todd endorsed Gingrich, so eventually the McCain family will perceive more distance between them and the Palin's.

There is no doubt about it, Mrs. Todd Palin (Is there really a marriage certificate?)stirred up the GOP base. Then again, I can remember a song from the 70's, "They Call Him the Streak," that stirred a lot of people into running around naked in public; nothing really serious about this joke though, unlike Big Juicy.

In his usual style, John McCain tarnished what he touched. His selection of Big Juicy dumbed-down the role of the VP. But then again, that what Johnny likes to do with his broads.

MimiC at 4:58 is right. McCain was used and abused by the Republican establishment in 2000. (Remember that the things said about him back then by members of HIS OWN PARTY were on par with some of the hateful lies Repubs have told about Obama more recently.)

He wanted to win the Presidency on his own terms and settle a few party scores. When that wasn't possible, he decided he didn't want the job after all, and took them all down with him. John McCain is not a big, statesmanlike guy. He holds grudges. The only good thing about his 2008 campaign was his concession speech, when he finally showed an ounce of humility... and RELIEF that he had managed to cut off "the nose" of the Republican party to spite its face. Hence, bringing Sarah onto the McCain Train (bound for Nowhere) was a great decision.

I agree with McCain - it WAS the best decision ever made. Because she's the reason he LOST the election.

When Sarah Palin hit the stage the first time and started speaking, I thought, uh oh! She's GOOD. We're in TROUBLE.

    But then she kept talking...

And she blew it during the infamous Katie Couric interview.

And then she didn't just graciously laugh it off - she called it a "gotcha" interview!

    She "lost her cool".

  43. I think MimiC is right about McCain seeming relieved that he lost the election. He was actually gracious and statesman-like when he delivered his concession speech. Could've been worse. Much worse. At least Palin isn't really influential and didn't make real waves after the election was over. Everything that has happened could have been multiplied by 2000 and there could have been bloodshed and an actual war.

President Obama inherited TWO actual wars coming into office. He is responsible for winding down the war in Iraq. Palin stated that she believed that the US should go to war with Russia if it attacked Georgia. McCain criticized Obama for drawing down the troops in Afghanistan. You're right. If either of those two war mongers had gotten into office, we could have been 2000 times worse off! They could have completed what the Bush administration almost did, utterly destroying America.

Not sure what you are saying here. Are you saying she doesn't manipulate and harness power? Because if that is the case, I have to say, faking a pregnancy and using a child as a political prop is at the top pinnacle of manipulation in my book. She also has used fear to terrorize people in Wasilla to keep people from speaking out against her. That is how she has used her 'power'. As for Democratic "Lies and Manipulations" that the media "ignores", can you state any examples? Provide any links? I find many times people who post these claims, such as yourself, state it as though it was a fact, and yet there is never any citation. I believe that is because you don't want to have any fact checking done.

If Sarah has done one thing, it is starting the process of actually vetting Obama (albeit late) and really digging into his plans. He is THE master manipulator and will be remembered as such one day.

Digging into his plans? Which plans are those? Yes, as President of the United States, he has plans. His plans have been toward getting the country out of the economic chasm that the Bush administration drove us into. Calling President Obama a master manipulator is a interesting choice of words. I call him an effective leader. He has managed to accomplish a lot of the goals that he promised us and many of those were the reason that I voted for him. He has managed to do that even when the Republican senators were filibustering every bill he worked to get through and now Congress playing as obstructionist. He still managed to make progress.

That is not manipulation. That is called the democratic process. And this president is good at it!

I was one that wrote him after he picked Palin and said he made a terrible mistake. I'd wager he is STILL getting those type emails and letters.

He knows he didn't make a popular decision in picking the idiot and fraud from Wasilla, Alaska.

"I think John McCain, being from the generation of men who behaved like gentlemen, won't admit his failure at picking Sarah."

Right, the kind of "gentleman" who calls his wife a c*nt and a trollop. So genteel, that John Sidney McCain!

John McCain was thinking with his little head, it was the best decision for an old guy in need of a rush.

John McCain put his little head first and his country last.

    Traitor.

  66. So it was a great decision to pick Palin. But what about the decision to keep her after they learned they had damaged goods?

Sorry, but I'm not one that ever considered McCain a "war hero". In fact, he's anything BUT a war hero. For anyone that might have EVER had a notion that McCain deserved the title of "war hero" this link will clear that up.

Perhaps this is a deal McC and the GOP made to keep Palin out of the running? We'll only say good things about you as long as you don't run for office, otherwise the beans WILL be spilled.

10:49, I agree with you that Sarah doesn't have a college degree, especially with a major in Journalism. How could anyone graduate from college and speak so poorly? But, i'll show her my college transcripts if she shows me hers.

  72. Right. And just after he steered the Titanic into an iceberg, the captain, Edward John Smith was heard to say "That was the best decision I ever made!"

McCain will forevermore be known as the TRAITOR who foisted an under-educated, completely unqualified, racist mean girl who was married to a bigoted secessionist on our Democracy.

For that, we should give him the 'Congressional Dunce Cap Medal of Treason.' And let's ask Gabby Giffords if Sarah Palin was the best decision Gramps ever made!

McCain had Palin forced on him.

He was "coerced" by his old "friend" Lowell "Bud" Paxson. Paxson had entrapped McCain, into, among other things, an affair with glamorous Paxson lobbyist Vicki Iseman.

This all came to a head in February 2008 during the Republican Governors' Conference in DC.

McCain secretly agreed to accept Palin as a running mate, and Paxson called off the McCain/Iseman exposés that were then beginning to appear in the New York Times.

Palin went back to Alaska. In a matter of days (and only hours after McCain sewed up the nomination), she announced to everyone's amazement that she was "7 months pregnant." The resulting child would be known as Trig Van Paxson Palin.

So, McCoot would rather go down in history as being an ignorant buffoon than to admit that he stepped in shit up to his eyeballs.

If it were me, I'd rather admit my error and regain a modicum of respect. McCoot lacks the character to do even that.

    Fuck McCoot.

McCain has his skeletons RE: VICKI ISEMAN, a lobbyist who was with McCain during his 2008 campaign on Corporate Jets and at Private Parties. Google VICKI ISEMAN. No wonder McCain did not vett PALIN.

And the corporate jet where McCain and Iseman were "indiscreet" was owned by Lowell "Bud" Paxson.

Paxson's corporate jet was also reportedly used to get the Saudi royal family (and assorted bin Ladens) out of Las Vegas following 9/11, at a time when US airspace was otherwise closed.
