Survivor of 2011 Tucson shooting Suzi Hileman |
Suzi Hileman brought 9-year-old Christina-Taylor Green, her neighbor and friend, to a Tucson grocery store last Jan. 8 so the girl, who was interested in politics, could meet a real-life female politician. When a gunman began firing on the crowd waiting to meet Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, Hileman tried to block the little girl from the bullets.
Hileman, 59, was shot three times herself but was unable to save Christina, who was fatally shot in the chest. Hileman was forced to look into the little girl's eyes as she lay dying and begged her to stay alive.
Hileman granted a request by The Associated Press to share her thoughts _ in her own words _ as the one-year mark of the shooting rampage approaches and how she's managed to put her life back together after that tragic morning when she couldn't bring Christina home to her parents.
The following is what Hileman wrote:
_______________________________________
I'm reminded of Jan. 8 every time I change my clothes. My scars, surgical and weapon-related, will never let me forget.
I'm reminded of Jan. 8 every time I try to lift something or contemplate walking instead of driving to visit a friend.
I'm reminded of Jan. 8 every time the school bus goes by, missing one little girl.
It's not a great place to go and I try not to stay for long but it wouldn't be honest to deny it.
There's more but I want you to click the link to read the rest.
I tried to read the above article to my daughter last night, and was surprised that I could only get a few sentences in before choking up and being unable to continue. I found myself overcome with emotion at the memory of that terrible day, at the struggle Gabby Giffords has gone through during her rehabilitation, and at the loss of that beautiful little girl which this selfless woman tried so hard to protect.
This brave woman has refused to let this terrible incident define the rest of her life and has started a non-profit organization that is dedicated to supporting, creating and promoting intergenerational mentoring projects. You can read more about that by clicking here: GRandparentsINresidence (GRIN).
I can only hope that on Sunday, which marks the one year anniversary of this tragedy, that the woman who so thoughtlessly put crosshairs over Tucson, Arizona, marking Gabrielle Giffords for removal, finally feels at least some portion of the sadness, and sense of loss, that many of us will share with the people of Tucson, as they remember the day that tore their community apart.
But honestly I do not hold out much hope.
I will forever hold Sarah Palin responsible for this tragedy. Forever.
ReplyDeleteShe may not have pulled the trigger, but she created a climate of hate and violence that incubated and brought to life this horror.
She will rot in hell for eternity, as it should be so.
I choke back tears myself when reading these articles. What a horrible event. I also cried when I saw her photo on the Rose Bowl parade float.
ReplyDeletehttp://phoenix-on.us/2012/01/02/christina-green-remembered-on-rose-bowl-parade-float/
" A portrait of 9-year-old Christina Green is among 71 others featured on the “Donate Life” float, a Rose Parade float designed to honor organ donors. Green’s death brought sight to two other people after her family decided to donate her eyes."
What do you want to bet that Sara finds someway to put herself in the news this week and Sunday for certain. She can't pass on an opportunity to remind us she's as much a victim as Gabby and the people who died or were wounded there. She's sick and sick people demand it's all about them so watch for something ridiculous from her by weeks end
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping she keeps her goddamn mouth shut on Sunday, but it is more likely that she will feel compelled to spew venom and make it all about her again. I lost my son to senseless evil violence, so I know how it feels. Sarah doesn't feel, nor does she think.
ReplyDeleteThat poor little girl's blood is on Sarah's hands. What happened that day is totally Sarah's fault and I hope karma catches up with her soon. Sarah Palin is the devil.
ReplyDeleteSarah.. your hate filled speeches and "cross hair" map helped cause the death of Christina.
ReplyDeletePlease just STFU and go away.
I personally hoped that Ms Palin would express regret for having posted gunsites on Tucson.
ReplyDeleteI hoped she might even fly down to Tucson to attend the memorial
If $arah only realized how much credibility she would have gained with millions of people by just attending that, and even dropping a tear or two on camera.
Even crocodile tears
But Gryphen, she can't show weakness, , remorse, or anything approaching sympathy
Ms Palin has a deep and abiding sickness which many of us believe is pathological.
I hope that if I'm ever put in a position to save a little girl, I can be as brave as this woman.
In New Hampshire it's easy to get a carry permit for a handgun, and I have one. If Jared Lougner or his like attack innocent victims in my presence,
his doppelganger might find a response not to his liking.
Will Sarah Palin rear her ugly head on this day?
ReplyDeleteThe only thing it would be ok for her to say today is: "It was a terrible mistake to put Gabby Gifford's in gun sights and I'm very, very sorry."
Hi Sarah, Welcome Back!
ReplyDeleteThis is your fault.
Surveyor's symbols...I call Bullshit!
Sarah Paline can't say "I'm sorry," because her lawyers have advised against it, in addition to the fact that she hasn't yet connect A to B, and her role in this horrific carnage.
ReplyDeleteThe little girl who was killed was exactly the same age as Piper Palin. If nothing else, a mother's compassion for a child who's died a violent and senseless death would ellicit, from a "Christian" such as Sarah a deeply heartfelt prayer for the souls of all those who died or were maimed on January 8th. It's not about HER -- it's about them.
Sarah, please think about this.
ReplyDeleteIf someone kept talking about how bad Parnell is and that he needed to be taken out, and then put out a map with cross hair over him; and then a crazed gunman shot Parnell and killed others (including maybe Piper)... how would you feel about this person?
Sarah, your actions helped kill these people.
Don't blame me! Those were surveyor marks! And I didn't even send the mailer.
ReplyDeleteI have said this before...I think every single time Sarah appears someplace, people need to hold up pictures of that beautiful child. Her blood is on Sarah's hands. I know she did not pull the trigger..but her hated filled rhetoric created the atmosphere of hate that directly lead to that crazy young man to think he had to kill Gabby. You can't put a target on someone's picture and then plead innocence when they are shot.
ReplyDeleteI hope she keeps her stupid mouth shut and stays out of sight this weekend, but I seriously doubt she will be able to do this. Remember..in her world, it's all about her..she is the real victim of this tragedy.
Sorry, trolls, but even you can't have so little human compassion to try to spin this any other way. Why don't you spend your time getting her mental help, instead of earning money posting fairy tales and lies about her and your family?
Like the first poster, I will FOREVER hold her responsible. Also John McCain for letting his old man dick overrule his sane thinking when he unleashed her on us all.
Beautiful write-up.
ReplyDeleteAs far as blaming SP, she technically has nothing to do with it. But, any normal human being who would be so arrogant as to put crosshairs on a map in regards to admonishing voters to vote out each "target" would retreat back into the woodwork. A normal human being would at least feel remorse and always wonder if their actions may have caused some young reactionary to go postal.
Normal human beings would refrain from speaking, being televised, showing up for speeches, twittering nonsense, revelling in their reality series and advertising themselves right after the tragedy in Tucson. They'd be quiet and reflective and wouldn't be quick to judge others, nor judge those in Office who do the backbone work. They wouldn't criticize and accuse and point the finger and spew venom towards others at that time.
Most compassionate human beings in that situation would go to the families and ask for forgiveness, even though it was not their intent for that to happen. They'd reach out to the community in a spirit of unity, not personal victimhood.
They'd watch their words and realize they have NO right to throw stones, then or now during this upcoming election. Contributing to issues is one thing, but calling elected officials names and wanting to be the first one to bring "the rope" or "hanging them high" is quite disturbing considering they still haven't removed that map with crosshairs even to this day.
This is disgusting that she lets this stay here. Let's Facebook, Tweet, email and share this far and wide to remind people of her responsibility for these people's deaths and the horrible losses of the community and families that were just out on a weekend. She is so cold and evil, it makes me sick.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=373854973434
Gryphen thanks for posting this. I plan to tweet this out along with CROSSHAIRS Map off her facebook page and her blood libel bs.
ReplyDeleteFrom the MOMENT I saw a Dem had been "killed" (that's what it was saying at first) Sarah Palins Crosshairs were all over twitter. And in her blood libel vid she had the nerve to paint HERSELF as a victim, while Gabby Giffords fought for her life and little Christina died, The judge, Gabby's assistant and others lost their lives that day, to someone who most probability saw her crosshairs map! And was deranged enough to act on it! She might as well have pulled the trigger. Gabby Herself gave a interview to Rachel Maddow a week or two before the shooting how fearful she was about that map and how words have consequences. Oh yes Caribou Crosshairs you braindead followers don't get it but everyone else DOES! You are a danger to our society!

Yes that would be nice.
But she won't. She couldn't even Call Gabby's husband all she could do is whine about how she was being blood libeled...anyone who wasn't brain-dead saw the real SP that day...cold, callas, psycho bitch.
Bitch Queen had better keep that big trap of hers clamped shut. We still remember, and have saved for eternity, her blood libel rebuttal. We know how she feels.
ReplyDeleteAccessory to murder...
This woman is one of the unsung heroes of that day. Although she was unable to save the life of that precious little girl, she deserves the utmost in our affection and respect. I can never look at the picture of Christina without feeling a profound sadness that this promising life was cut so short by senseless violence. And like many others, I hold Mrs. Palin partly responsible for helping to create an atmosphere of hatred and violence with her reference to cross-hairs. It was absolutely sickening to witness her speech about "blood libel," in which she tried to portray herself as another victim of forces that she helped to set in motion.
ReplyDeleteAJ
ReplyDeleteHaving a gun is not the solution.
Gabby had a Glock. They were allowed to carry into the Congress building I believe?
She didn't have it on the day she could of used it, and I don't think it would of helped her at all, anyway...
There were others there who had guns also and thus made it hard to police to discern the REAL gunman.
Fox news with its Pied piper of Hate Sarah Palin are goading crazies like Jared into violence. Guns are too easy to get and too many are in the wrong hands.
Fox & Palin shouldn't be able to spew LIES & Bullshit about POTUS and Hate speech!
Hate speech is not Free Speech! Hate speech is Illegal and led to the Tuscan shootings.

Exactly! Well said.
My first thought after the shock of this tragedy registered in me was that Palin put a gun target on a woman gunned down and others were murdered and wounded.
ReplyDeleteI say Palin demonstrated she is oblivious and probably mentally ill having no conscience someone did what her rhetoric and symbols called for. Her blood libel video hammered home Palin is a sicko compounded by lies of surveyor symbols. Palin turned it around that people calling her on her words, violent symbols incited hate and violence.
I disagree with some commentors about Palin being all at fault. I hold her guilty for her part and the shooter for gunning people down-his actions. Time will tell if he was inspired by the pathalogical politicuan, Palin.
More people now recognize how divisive, trouble making and diabolical she is. Not falling in love the more they see her.

Sarah, this is what real heroine - a brave, selfless, genuine humanitarian - looks like. And what a real heroine does. Tries to make a positive difference after unspeakable tragedy strikes.
ReplyDeleteObviously, though, you are unable to process such information. You're not "wired" that way. You're only "wired" to be a selfish, envious, hatemongering coward.
Before the shootings ever happened Gabby Giffords went on MSNBC and talked about Sarah's crosshairs and said that actions have consequences... which fell on the deaf ears of Sarah Palin, yet after the horrific act of violence Sarah goes on TV, the same day President Obama would be attending a memorial service for all the victims and tries to make it all about her and she shows the lack of sensitivity with her "blood libel" speech. How could anyone forget how they tried to spin the crosshairs into surveyors mark and didn't Roger Ailes told her to sit down and STFU but no she had to have it her way.
ReplyDeleteThe imagery of the crosshairs made Gabby Gifford afraid, not just for herself but everyone. Gabby didn't predict the outcome but spoke of the dangerous consequences while Sarah was being defiant with her "don't retreat, reload" message. It also shows that Gabby is a lot smarter than the Idiot Queen. I have no sympathy for the sociopath Sarah Palin. There's a room reserved in Hell for her.
"If $arah only realized how much credibility she would have gained with millions of people by just attending that, and even dropping a tear or two on camera."
ReplyDeleteBut that would have shown actual leadership and compassion. $arah doesn't know what those words mean. We saw what her response was. "Blood libel" and a self-serving lecture about media ethics.
On that day when the Blood Libel video came out, showcasing Palin (playing pretend President) attempting to trump Obama's visit to Tucson, I never saw so clearly the horrible mistake we avoided when we didn't elect McCain.
I don't personally hold Palin responsible for the shootings, but her cold, selfish response clearly shows she deserves no mercy.
Heartrending . . .
ReplyDeleteI blame the shooter for the death of this poor little girl and all the others.
But the blame for the political climate accsaserbated in 2008 goes to one screeching nightmare of a woman named Sarah Palin; who brought us to democratic congressmen and senators being threatened during the health care vote. I blame her because when the rednecks at her stump speeches started screaming hate and vitriol at then Senator Obama in the fall of 2008--she stood there like the vicious soul she is and said NOTHING.
Palin's reload bullshit will be written on whatever shit road she decides to walk down in her blighted future. And she deserves it.
Sarah Palin cares about Sarah Palin only.
ReplyDeleteShe has no motherly instincts for her own off-spring so I highly doubt she felt guilt or remorse for Christina Taylor Green. Her blood libel speech said it all.
A beautiful child's life was cut short and all the other victims and Sarah can't and won't own up to her reckless behavior. Sarah destroys people's lives. She is as evil as they come.

ReplyDeleteVERY well said.
In this last year, I was reminded that just weeks before JFK was shot, there were posters in Florida showing his head in crosshairs. No one tried to call them "surveyor's marks" after the assassination.

I too find Palin responsible for the violence. It was everywhere in town halls after she made up the “death panel” claim. She is a sick woman.
ReplyDeleteThe blood libel speech showed what a cold-hearted, self-serving bitch she really is. Yes, she didn't pull the trigger but her words and action helped to create the climate of violence and hate. Who the hell did she think she was talking to? AIP members?
ReplyDeleteThis tragic incident will ALWAYS be connected to Palin and she DOES have responsibility in it. I've also always thought that there is a place awaiting Palin in hell for the many, many misdeeds she has done (that we know of for sure!) during the past recent years - this being the absolute worst.

I hold Palin totally responsible for this, and it will be interesting if the evidence on what influenced Loughner to do this is ever revealed. What websites did he read? Did he ever visit Palin's FB page? Someone already has that evidence.

De Facto: Anyone who still supports her approves putting target on innocents and letting another pull the trigger.

Sarah Palin will go down in history as the one who propagated this bloodbath and everyone will remember her for it. It is written in stone now, and she will live under the shame of it for the rest of her life. It will come out, again, as the news reflects on the year that has passed and on the magnificent recovery of Gabby. Sarah will be reliving her nightmare this weekend, and deservedly so. I won't be at all surprised if she concocts some kind of attempt to grab the spotlight and take attention off of the anniversary of her handiwork:

The sad thing is until people who have evidence of all the illegal things she has been involved in releases that information and she is in jail where she belongs She will not stop spewing her hate. She has spewed so much hate for our president you would think something could be done to stop her. John McCain is as crazy as she is.
ReplyDeleteHaving now lived in Tucson since '85, I've watched Tucson metro double in size, from ½M to over 1M people. It had retained, back then, an amazingly small-town feel for a town that large. As it grew, I was saddened that it was feeling bigger all the time, and seemed to have less a sense of community. On Jan 8, last year, that perception changed completely. This town of over 1M suddenly felt like a village. The loss and shock were personal. None of the victims were faceless strangers to any of us, they were our neighbors, and even if we'd never met them before, each of them was a tangible loss, and the pain of their families was felt by our families. While Gabby's determination and recovery are inspirational, we still have been deprived of her vitality and leadership in Congress. Besides her personal loss of the the right to live her life as she would have chosen, and the pain she and her family have suffered, the loss to all of us continues to grow, and continues to be felt and given voice throughout the community.
ReplyDeleteI don't know that any straight line connecting the dots to Palin can ever be drawn, and I didn't give her much thought until I heard her incredulous Blood Libel bile. I was stunned. Even coming from Palin something that rancid was shocking. She removed all doubt that day that she is the incarnation of evil. Any rational person who had done what she had done would have been aghast to think that, while maybe not this time, next time there may be a line that directly leads to me, and would have begun taking steps to make sure that couldn't happen, beginning w/ taking down the map and contacting victims or their families. Instead she continues to facilitate next time, and when it happens, will be just as much in denial and just as callous as she is now. I'm sure, within her twisted mind, it's all part of her delusional mission for God. And you know which God I mean - the one who either dispatches rapists to bestow His blessings on the lives of women who don't keep their guns at the ready to prevent it, or, if he doesn't dispatch them, at least believes rapists have the only opinion that matters when choosing the mothers of their spawn.
Makes you want to rush out and join a fundie church, doesn't it? And Palin, please don't ever dishonor this community w/ your presence.
This is how I predict Hateful Sarah will mark the anniversary of the cold-blooded killing of these wonderful and innocent people:
ReplyDelete1. Appear with Trig. This will be the first time in weeks that she has even touched him much less interact with the poor child. As soon as possible, she'll hand him off to someone, anyone for fear of being somehow tainted by this imperfect little boy. If he were perfect and beautiful like Tripp, she'd hold him patiently.
2. Make some convoluted remarks that turn out to be about her victimization.
3. Ask for an apology from Gabby Giffords for speaking the truth about the inhuman way Palin behaved before and after the shooting. And not a word about thanking God for Gabby's miraculous recovery.
4. Use the solemn occasion to fundraise for Sarah's favorite charity: Sarah and only Sarah.
5. Lobby for a reality show based on the awful events of Jan. 8, 2011 which so ruined Sarah's destiny.
Message to Sarah: Stay home in your smelly den. Wash your cruddy wigs for a change. Apologize to your children for being their mother.

$arah Paylin can be credited with the total degeneration of US political discourse that now focuses on violence, bigotry and a total lack of regard or respect for anyone who disagrees with her views.
ReplyDeleteEvery time I see little Christina's face - or Gabby - I think of the Quitter. Nice legacy, loser.
I will forever blame Sarah Palin for the Tucson massacre. Loughner was mentally ill but he was the kind of person who Sarah is trying to reach when she calls for violence. People like Loughner share her mental illness and her "worldview". They are her true followers and she is their leader.
ReplyDeleteWhen Charles Manson and his followers shocked the nation by murdering innocent people, he never issued a statement saying he was sorry or wrong. He is still defiant - just like Sarah. Sarah reminds me of Manson. She shows her defiance and insanity by keeping the crosshairs map on her Facebook page. She's doubling down.
For you, Sarah.

Gryphen, perhaps you can make an addition to your post-- or create another post which reminds people about Sarah Palin's cross hairs and her use of violent rhetoric aimed at and targeting Democratic candidates. The never were surveyor's marks. One does not survey the opponents.
ReplyDeleteWe should also celebrate the anniversary of Sarah's blood libel speech. Roger Ailes had told her not to respond, and Sarah didn't follow orders. Her speaking engagements declined after that, and I think that is when the people who once made her their star decided that they couldn't back a candidate who didn't follow orders. We know Sarah. No one tells her to shut up and get back in the truck (or was it shut up and sit down?).
Sarah takes threats against her family very seriously, even when they are not really threats. An author living next door did not rent the house to spy on little Piper in her bedroom. Sarah has told a number of stories about the so-called threats to her daughters if they attended Juneau High School. And, poor Bristol, was all alone in that big house with only the Secret Service to protect her and she got a cell phone call (which she didn't discover until 12 hours later).
No, Sarah didn't like it when people "targeted" her kids, but it was all right for her to turn her nasty rhetoric on others. Remember the shouts of "kill him" when Palin campaigned in 2008? Yeah, she can dish it out, but she doesn't like it when it happens to her.
Of course $arah Paylin is totally responsible for the injuries and deaths the gunman caused that fateful day!
ReplyDeleteShe is certifiably crazy - but remember bipolar and personality disorders, as known by the pysch community, are devoid of conscience. You cannot assign them behaviors in a body and brain that have no receptors for those emotions and feelings. Stop trying.
The unbelievable hatred, violence and vengeance-seeking, Paylin exudes every time she opens her mouth sowed the path to this tragic incident when she used the REpubs campaign podium to gin up volatility and violence from people in the audience who were calling out the despicable phrases of ending her opponents' lives.
Neither she nor McCain put any, not any, none, nada, effort into intstilling civility into their meetings, and demanding that terrorist behavior in their followers was wrong and would not be tolerated.
How can anyone, any of you, with sanity, excuse Paylin's dark persona influence,or that of her writers, minions, staff, McCain, Faux Noise or anyone connected with the trashy acts of right wing nuts like "spitting on the black legislators as they pass by" is beyond me.
No one came forward to belittle or criticize those who spat on the leaders elected in our country. What has our nation come to with the loud, overhead crap that the right wing spews daily? Anything goes, but you gotta be a Xtian. Really? What is a Xtian? Clearly those fornicating, evil leaders professing to be one have no clue.
Understand that the momentum just built from the spitting and degrading onto the unseemly tragedy of lost lives, and all who perpetuated behaviors that laid the groundwork for that horrendous act are responsible! All! Everyone who worked to make it happen by their sick riot type talk.
Words are so frequently followed by actions, so let's put the blame where it belongs - on all those determined to perpetuate action in violent happy jackasses only too willing to do the dirty work of the orators who encourage them to "take out" anyone known to disagree with the idiotic demands of the stupid, thoughtless, and yes, sometimes demented right wing "leaders."

Sorry, I have to disagree with you.
1.) Charles Manson did not technically have anything to do with the savage deaths of Sharon Tate and also the LaBianca family.
Yet a court of law still found him responsible.
2.) A normal person would NOT put up cross-hairs on a map, in a climate of political volatility.
Sarah Palin is quilty in both regards, as far as I am concerned.
Here is a shorter link to Sarah's Special:
ReplyDeletehttp://williambanzai7.blogspot.com/2011/01/lunatic-fringe.html
Sarah, you and McCain will forever be losers.
Surveyor's symbols my ass. Nice try, Quitty McLying-tard.
ReplyDeleteAll the negative, devisive, hateful rhetoric that paylump screeched definitely had an influence on lots of people, many of them most probably "unhinged." "Death panels (lie)," "don't retreat, reload," "going rogue," etc.
Fucking narcissistic sociopath.
Oh, and fuck you mccain, you piece of shit.
Sarah has shown that she does not feel remorse about anything, and that she sold her soul to the highest bidder long ago. I'm sick of her and her scoldings of the administration and Congress. Isn't her contract up already?
ReplyDeleteHeart-breaking.
ReplyDeleteSarah you have blood on your hands.
ReplyDelete"Don't retreat, reload." Yeah, that means that you should survey it again. Let me put a surveyor's mark to show you exactly which people we are targeting. Take aim. Reload. Yup, surveyor's talk.
ReplyDeleteI don't care what anyone says. Words matter. What we choose to say and how we say it matters. We can either lift up and encourage or tear down and slander. I don't care how Palin spins this - she is partially responsible for the climate of hate in this country from 2008 till now. She didn't pull the trigger but her words were poison. They still are poison.
ReplyDeleteGryphen - I know you're a person of no faith. Which is fine with me. But allow me the small comfort of having the faith that one day we all have to answer to God for our actions and our life. Including Sarah Palin.
Sarah Palin - do you fear God? Because you should. We all should but you, my dear, should especially. Considering all the havoc & terror you have wrought on so many people's lives. One day you will have to give account.
I live in hope that one day - Justice will be done. Preferably in this life time =D
Six people were killed and thirteen people were injured that day.
ReplyDeleteNo, Palin did not pull the trigger but in Mark Kelly's words she was "irresponsible" and she will have to live with the hatred she fomented for the rest of her life. I personally don't think she lost one night's sleep over the deaths and injuries caused to these people. What she probably did lose sleep over was the fact that people associated her with the massacre. That didn't go down too well with the hockey mum.
Then she topped it all off trying to one-up the President whilst invoking blood libel on the day of the memorial service. It was so obvious to everyone that the only person she was interested in was herself.
She is rotten to the core and it shows on her face now. I saw it the day she gave the RNC speech as I'm sure many did.
What really upsets me about Sarah Palin's use of guns and gun imagery is that she uses this as simply more bling to seduce the lusful old fools.
ReplyDeleteSPA showed the viewers that Sarah did not know about gun safety, how to load her gun, how to shoot her gun, or how to hunt. Nor does she bother to learn.
She uses guns as accessories and political bait. That's the limit of her understanding of the consequences of her use of violent gun imagery - "does it make me look sexy?"
I really think Sarah is so shallow she can only see her own reflection - it's her illness, her extreme narcisism.
I am not making excuses for Sarah's use of violent gun imagery - I abhor it - nor saying her use of violent rhetoric does not stir the pot to the point of rabble rousing and the unthinkable, as happened on January 8.
I grieve over this horrible and senseless tragedy, as do hundreds of thousands of people across America. But don't expect Sarah to be among the mourners.
To expect Sarah of responding in any way other than how she has responded in the past is fruitless. I hope her current handlers are keeping better wraps on her than Ailes did last year.
THANKS, Jaye, 7:56AM. Beautifully simple and True. We should always remember these victims. And we should also remember the crosshairs and who irresponsibly placed them ...
ReplyDeleteGo Gabby and Mark! You are loved by an entire Nation. And don't wait for an apology from Sarah Palin. She can't even tie her bloody shoes.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnOgROJ8mg&feature=related
ReplyDeleteThis, IMHO, is the best of all the crosshairs videos and should be disseminated far and wide. Sarah Palin may want to forget this day, but we will not.
Go Gabby and Mark! Go President Obama!! Landslide in November!!!
This day is always going to bite Sarah in the Ass.
ReplyDeleteNever forget.
How are you going to top your blood libel video Sarah?
Christina's portrait is a really difficult photograph to look at. Such a beautiful little girl. What a terrible waste.
ReplyDeleteIn all her future appearances, any of us who are nearby should make an effort to appear along the route to the venue with pictures of Christina and Gabby, the two most easily recognized victims of the Tucson shootings.
ReplyDeleteEven if Palin doesn't see them, others will and be reminded anew of the power of words.... granted, she didn't pull the trigger and no one has yet produced any proof that the shooter saw or heard of her "surveyor's symbols," but she bears responsibility for the nasty intent implied by her words, actions and total self-absorption afterwards. Maybe, just maybe someday it will get through to her
"Sarah takes threats against her family very seriously"
ReplyDeleteEspecially the ones she makes up!
Which is most of them...
I blame Palin for fanning the flames of hate in this coutnry. I also blame Palin for all hate, and insults hurled at FL Michelle and President Obama.
ReplyDeleteSarah Palin is PURE EVIL to the bone!
Had this happened to one of her children, Palin would still be screeching and unwilling to let ANYONE off the hook and especially if she could point out that someone had been promoting violence via a political campaign.
ReplyDeleteShe must have been experiencing some real feelings of guilt that she so quickly jumped in with her victim meme to deflect blame.
The tentacles of this tragedy reach far and deep and will last forever for all the families and the words of Suzi Hileman bring the abject horror home to all of us. Well maybe except for 'one' emotionally frozen family.
I will cry 'fraud' if the 'blood libel' lady makes any display of remorse or sadness about the Arizona tragedy. Sadly, I believe she is incapable of either empathy or sympathy and, even if she were, it's way too late for a genuine response or anything other than a manipulative apology for personal gain.
ReplyDelete"Gryphen - I know you're a person of no faith. Which is fine with me."
ReplyDeleteI just have to say that as an atheist myself, I don't consider myself "a person of no faith." I have faith in people, in their basic kindness and willingness to do the right thing. I don't speak for Gryphen but I think it's possible to have faith in things other than religious institutions.
@10:50AM "...Gryphen - I know you're a person of no faith..."
ReplyDeleteIn an otherwise sensitive post the above words were quite jolting. Perhaps it wouldn't have sounded so judgmental had you said "I know you don't share MY faith...".
I doubt Gryphen would waste his time and talent trying to bring truth to light if he possessed no sense of faith or fairness. He just derives his from a different source than yours. I don't think your words were intended to slight but it illustrates once again the danger of thinking there is only one moral path thru these endless trips around the sun.
Palin loudly proclaims for all to hear that she is a 'believer' and we all have witnessed by her words and action what that means.
curious to me: SO many trolls yesterday...none here today.
ReplyDeleteand the tone of the IM comments is intelligent and respectful.
my hope: a troll or two drops in, reads, and leaves thoughtfully...perhaps sadder and wiser?
Aurora
This unspeakable tragedy brings into focus what has become increasingly apparent and that is that this a very disturbed woman. A person who cannot draw parallels between the act of putting targets on individuals and then having these same persons being shot is at the very least delusional and at worst criminally insane. Somehow through her bizarre television appearances and gibberish I tend to forget how very dangerous and dark this woman really is.
ReplyDeleteQueen Bitch is not a believer, she is a user full of hate and vitriol to stir up, not bring together. The only time she has ever mentioned Jesus was when she thought she could ride on Tim Tebow's popularity. Anti-Christs DO that.
ReplyDeleteShe is NOT sorry for Tucson, and if Faux and Pirro have already scripted a fake dialogue for tomorrow night concerning the asnniversary, it is nothing but that. FAKE.
All it takes is one look at her haggish aging the past three years to realize the truth. No amount of plastic surgery can cover the UGLY. It oozes.
we should probably be grateful that palin made the blood libel comments in her pathetic attempt to look presidential in her little skank room.
ReplyDeleteBecause it was at that moment her future was sealed forever.
Every year this anniversary comes up the public will be reminded of the awful and tragic loss of life and the nearly fatal gunshot to Gabby's head. They'll always see the innocent 9 yr old child's face smiling in that picture. And the wounded and dying in the aftermath.
Palin managed to make Gabby a beacon of light, strength, courage, hope and love.
I truely believe that palin hates Gabby because of the massive amount of love and support offered to Gabby after she was shot.
Palin was pissed. Her little plan backfired. The skank was jealous then and is today. That's why she made her sick blood libel video, she wanted to push Gabby off the "stage".
I love, love , love the fact that no matter the details, Scara will forever be linked to this tragic event, as it should be. it kills me to think about the loss and how it could have been avoided. HI Scara, you know you will/are rotting in hell.
ReplyDeleteAurora, the trolls have nothing to say about real events and real consequences. If it doesn't involve the family going to Applebee's while being strong and working at the dermatologist real hard even when not in town, then it doesn't exist.
ReplyDeleteOf course the insufferable bitch will open her old, filthy mouth. she was the caused of the massacre because Rep. Giffords asked that the cross hairs be taken down before the massacre happened.
ReplyDeletethat insufferable woman loves having her name associated with that horrid event.
anon@849a: my sentiments exactly! And I continue to be struck that we've heard NOTHING about Loughner's statements, motivations, etc. As you say, yes, he's clearly mentally ill, but he must have made some statements since his arrest. One would think that, in a year's time, something would have leaked.
ReplyDeleteI didn't want to focus on Sarah Palin when I read this post. What happened that day is a tragedy of epic proportions. The people who died and those who survive are the ones I'll be thinking of, afterall, it's their memory we need to keep in the spotlight this day.
ReplyDeleteAs a person of no faith, as someone else mentioned, I find Gryphen's thoughtful insights on this post (wait for it....) full of Christ-like compassion for the victims.
As an atheist, I find it equally offensive that self professed people of faith project the stereotype that all athesists are incapable of decency, compassion, good will toward others, nor the ability of reaching out to others in their time of need to say "I believe in you, I recognize our shared humanity and believe that good will always overcome evil".
So I guess I have to chime in and mention, not only were the districts marked with gun sights, but were listed by district and the people holding office in that district, so, to me, it's clear what Sarah's intent was in a)hateful rhetoric, b) using that specific graphic, and keeping it on her site after the tragedy and c) claiming "blood libel" and carrying the mantle of perpetual righeous indignation while claiming she was the victim.
Something occurred to me as I read the article, something I overlooked before or didn't bother to notice.
This wounded lady, laid there and saw this precious child die before her eyes.
Can anyone imagine the weight the true victims who survived carry on their shoulders while carrying the visible scars for the rest of their lives? This woman turned her hurt and guilt to charity for others as a way of paying it forward.
Beautiful post Gryphen. Thank you. This tragedy was fueled by hate rhetoric spewed from the mouth of Alaska's former half term governor. No, we shall not forget.
ReplyDeleteSuch a horrible tragedy. Thank God Gabby was able to survive and she has been a tremendous inspiration to others - both Gabby and her husband, Mark. Love and prayers for all the families of the victims who never made it, like little Christina. They have not been forgotten. Love and prayers also to the victims who survived, and the agony they have gone through as they have tried to heal, physically and emotionally, from this senseless tragedy.
ReplyDeleteWill Sarah ever show remorse or recognize how she is a part of this senseless tragedy? From what we have seen before, it doesn't seem like it, but who knows what will eventually happen? One thing for sure, she is not qualified to hold political office ever again. Someone with such a lack of compassion and personal responsibility is not fit to ever represent anyone else in this country.
I can't believe she's not in jail over this tragedy.
ReplyDeleteIn Europe, if her career could have survived putting crosshairs over her political enemies (a big no-no), it would have fallen dead the very second the gunman started shooting. Even if she had not made the blood libel video.
Calls to hatred - and someone responds to that hatred and people die ? She pushed for the crime to be committed all right, and the crime did happen.
She's guilty of the death of those poor people, as guilty as if she had pulled the trigger herself. As guilty as Manson is.
