I would like to correct these people, but where would I start?

I have to imagine that the congregation does not contain any doctors, or biologists, or morticians, or ANYBODY who is older than seven years old even. How else to explain this sign?

And THIS is their best argument against atheism?

Well touche Truth Church. You sure showed me a thing or two.

You have it all wrong! Whoever made up the sign has no brains, period. They are correct!

    huh?
What are brains surgeons working on when they crack open a skull? What are those pink curdy things that drip out when you watch too much Fox news?
We are living in an Idiocracy.

To add to the list : Morals, Family Values, Common Sense Conservatives cannot be seen, either, but according to the gop they are the cornerstone of their party. Those qualities are sadly lacking, especially in their "leaders" yet they insist that they do exist.

Not a reasonable argument, I agree. But, I one argument I've heard is that the Jewish people DO exist. The Old Testament in many ways can be historically validated. Archeological digs in Israel find numerous walls, tunnels, foundations of temples, old temple materials described in the OT in ancient Israel.

You can argue the case about the exodus of the Jews out of Egypt because it was written in a book, but there are written accounts on hieroglyphics in Egypt which do show they were enslaved for a time. Also, there are accounts of the Great flood from each continent, either found in ancient depictions on stone or the story passed down from generation to generation in South America, Asia, Europe, Africa, Asia. Minor.
We've heard of the many sightings of Noah's Ark leaning off a ledge on Mount Ararat in Turkey.

Yet, belief in Jesus Christ is a faith thing, not proven by eyes, but known the change in a person's life. If it's considered 'ignorance' for some, it's a gift for others.

  5. When I served on a school board, I once wondered aloud what some of these kids, with their "D" grade point averages, would do after graduation. The high school principal said, "Bible college."

Yeah. I can see that. The minister who put up that readerboard went to one of those Bible colleges- otherwise he'd know that people have definitely seen brains.

As a Christian, I find this offensive.

    Isn't this sign a joke?

You can not see something that does not exist. The members of this cult proudly acknowledge the fact that they do not posess brains.

We should not mock such a blatant display of honesty.

Guess they never heard of..oh, I don't know...brain surgeons? MRIs? Yes, as arguments against atheism go, this one is certainly brain dead on arrival. Funny, tho. Thanks for the chuckle, Gryph.

  14. Small brain who wrote that, of course we HEAR the brain in action every time a word is spoken. We SEE the brain in action, every time a breath is taken. We FEEL the brain, with every heartbeat. And the brain is able to provide, the LOVE of Jesus.

I think they needed to put this in sarcasm font. I think their point is that this is a ridiculous argument, and that just because we can't see God/etc doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

  16. I'm not sure historical writings about Jews has anything to do with whether brains exist. Do you go to...oh, nevermind.

  17. my guess is that this msg was a practice in some sort of joking / sarcasm or, that it was created in photoshop or the online "church sign generator."

  18. As I look at the sign again, I suspect that may have been just an outrageous, attention getting lead-in to the following Sunday's sermon about why God exists even though you can't see him.

If that's what it was, it appears to have been pretty effective.

Umm, so that isn't a joke? It's for realz? The stupid is really, really painful. From where I live (central Michigan) I can't see the Atlantic Ocean or Washington D.C. but they exist and I know they do.

    Typical of religious/Republican lies.

Real history bothers them immensely, so they make their own version instead.

I'm pretty sure the poor things meant to say "mind" instead of "brain" on their sign. That's the usual argument.

Too bad they're so dumb they can't distinguish between the two.

HA HA HA!!! This has Sarah written all over it. They could easily subtitute the word "God" for "brain", and the sentiment would make more sense.
