Mitt Romney, he'd let America fail. Update!

I don't think Romney is going to have much luck fighting back against the perception that if he were elected President, Americans, who are NOT millionaires or corporations, are essentially on their own.

Remember this is the man who believes corporations are people, and introduced a tax plan that was a gift to the very wealthy, and would cut spending by taking away funds that benefit the poor and middle class in America:

He proposed cutting individual marginal income tax rates by 20 percent; reducing the corporate tax rate to 25 percent, from 35 percent; eliminating capital gains taxes for people with incomes below $200,000; abolishing the alternative minimum tax and the estate tax; indexing the eligibility age for Medicare to longevity; allowing private insurers to compete with Medicare; eliminating the Affordable Care Act, Obama's health care law; and reducing federal spending to 20 percent of the national economy by making "hundreds of billions of dollars in cuts," including to programs like Amtrak and Planned Parenthood.

So reducing the corporate tax to 25 percent,  raising the age that the elderly receive medicare, and taking away funds from, or eliminating altogether, programs that provide medical assistance and transportation to those who otherwise cannot afford it.

Yeah that is exactly who Americans should place in office.

Update: And the Romney gaffes keep right on rolling in.

Asked by the AP reporter if he follows NASCAR, Romney responded, "Not as closely as some of the most ardent fans. But I have some great friends who are NASCAR team owners."

Yep a real man of the people. Assuming of course that corporations really ARE people.

What's interesting about bailing out irresponsible companies/industries is (auto is the big one), the behavior has no doubt continued, hopefully to a lesser extent. Detroit is no better. Unions are still incredibly counter productive and shady. Does no one see this? Are people really ignorant enough to believe the bailouts changed things for the better, when the people in DC right now are sucking lint from Wall Streets pockets. There isn't a more manipulating administration than Obama's. Bush had his issues, issues that WERENT new.

Romney is so out of the loop with REAL people, it is laughable. Then Santorum would have all women wear burkas, since he wants to be America's first Ayatollah. How did he ever get married to a woman who lived with an abortion doctor for many years? All I can think is that the repubs. WANT to lose the next election, just as they did the last one. They want the Cheney/Bush mess cleaned up by democratic politicians, then they will get serious.

5:08 am. If you lived in Michigan or in any of the other states that produce automobiles or their parts, you wouldn't be saying what you said.

Now, on topic. Mitt Romney was in our town last evening competing with the annual Oscar celebration at the local movie theatre. When we drove downtown we were worried about parking as the Romney event had started about an hour earlier. Lo and behold, lots of available parking in the downtown lots just two blocks from the Romney venue. According to the newspaper, the venue was "packed" but it doesn't hold many people. Maybe they learned from the Ford Field fiasco. If he's in Michigan, keep the venue small!

    Poll: Obama winning GOP primary

    http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0212/73308.html

    http://www.politico.com/polls/politico-george-washington-university-battleground-poll.html

President Barack Obama’s approval rating is 53 percent, up 9 percentage points in four months. Matched up against his Republican opponents, he leads Mitt Romney by 10 points (53-43) and Rick Santorum by 11 (53-42). Even against a generic, unnamed Republican untarnished by attacks, Obama is up 5 percentage points. In November, he was tied.

Anon 4:57 & 5:08----Please STFU as you are both bringing too much stupid. Thanks.

I read a comment on another site that sums Romney up
precisely. He is wearing a human suit. He goes back to whatever pod he originates from and unzips it
while his wife feeds him a nutrient and complains that he hasn't got "normal people" down pat yet.

  12. Someone pointed out that FDR and JFK came from great wealth, yet they helped the poor and disadvantaged. I doubt that people, in the midst of The Great Depression, were resentful of FDR's wealth. They knew he was trying to bring the country out of a terrible financial mess.

The big difference is that few people believe that Romney really cares about the poor and disadvantaged. He does not even know how to "govern" his own comments in front of media. We now have many gems of cluelessness to laugh at, but the point is that this man believes he can lead this country.

The choices are very grim for the Repubs because they allowed their party to be hi-jacked by the extreme right wing. Only in this climate would someone like Romney be attractive to the Republicans.

Karma calling on the Republican Party thanks to Sarah Palin and her followers.

Santorum (yuck!) is making the same argument; that we'd be better off if the domestic auto industry had gone belly up with the concomitant loss of an additional 23 million jobs.

THAT'S a pretty damn hard sell. We'd still all be either living in caves or in our cars if the GOP had been in charge.

So by all means, let's put them in charge now.

The Romney remark that got me was him saying people need to buy up forcloseures, fix them up and rent them out.
Granted this is prime time for such investments he said it as if the majority is able to do this. Romney has univision of the severe economic recession as only a business opportunity. The reality of mid to higher middle class, theajority of sellers and buyers unable to do either is of no concern to him and he is oblivious to the economic impact.

Romney's statement is made even funnier because he's standing next to Santorum's sponsored race car.

Ideological rigidity and Obama hatred led Republicans to reject the auto bailout. Now they’re doubling down on their opposition—and surrendering Michigan in the general election.

    Hey, Anon @ 5:08,
You are a shithead. The unions didn't create the problems in Detroit. To be sure, they were PART of the problem, but the crappy cars weren't designed by the unions and the marketing wasn't done by the unions and the exorbitant salaries paid to management weren't because of the unions.

You are a fucking moron. Please, provide us all with a detailed exegesis of how the economic situation of 2008 would not have progressed into a full blown depression if the auto industry had collapsed like the GOP wanted.

You can't deal with the fact that the bailout worked - and the GOP can't claim ANY of the credit.

Only the cousin humping toothless teabaggers are congenitally stupid enough to believe your "we'd be better off if we were worse off" argument.

Haha here's the rest of the story: But the crowd initially booed Mr. Romney, who occasionally struck a discordant note, as when he approached a group of fans wearing plastic ponchos. “I like those fancy raincoats you bought,” he said. “Really sprung for the big bucks.” Per NYT.

    GOP’s Santorum Panic

On the eve of major primaries, party leaders are convinced that a Santorum victory would doom their entire ticket in the fall.

For more than six months, worried conservative chieftains talked up the need to unite behind a single rightist candidate in order to block the potential victory of the “mushy moderate” from Massachusetts, Mitt Romney. Now, on the eve of crucial primaries in Michigan and Arizona, and with Super Tuesday looming just one week later, some of those same leaders speak privately of the need to unite behind that same, once-dreaded Romney in order to avert an even more dire disaster: the nomination of Rick Santorum.

Romney appears to not care to tune into reality of people. I am reminded of McCain who did not know how many houses he owned nor that the economy was in jeopardy to in the precipace if a great depression. A true leader must be aware of others to make wise decisions.

I sense Romney is in his own bubble that everyone has his personal wealth.

Angela, that is funny. Romney's newest plan is to not hide or apologize for his wealth, but to embrace it, saying that he's "successful". We have had many wealthy Presidents, senators, and governors over the course of our history, but the difference is that most emit HUMANITY. Mittens is the embodiment of what Beldar Conehead (the old SNL one, not our fave IM' er) would be as a politician- absolutely tone deaf and completely unable to relate to people.

The problem is not RMoney's wealth, it's RMoney.

Mitt knows how to speak to real Americans chapter 22. He is really just like you and me (so he says.). He is a ruih well connected expert in everything too. He has the smooth social skills of a convicted ponzi schemer like Billy Sol Estes. No wonder he's running for President! Again! Isn't he?

Cause iffn you are a nASSkar fan, them team owners is who you rilly love. Not the drivers, and not those lame ass mechanics and car builders. Everyone knows nASSkar really gets done in the boardrooms and executive jets. In the toilet paper aisle at your local supermarket- where it really is win on Sunday, sell on Monday- that is what nASSkar has become.

None of the fans wants to build their own car in their shop and the race it! Uster be posers did that and actually won. Earnhardts and Kulwickis not to mention real losers like the Woods Brothers who actually used a tree limb to change engines when they were getting started. Shade tree mechanics winning any kind of a race- thats just shameful! Thats when it really was Nascar. We have rules to prevent that now in the modern era.

Luckily for fans like Mitt Willard Romney the sport has been IMPROVED! All real true fans of nASSkar can dream of the day when they can be in the private jet flying to the race and meeting other rich important lame dixk azzhats! There are lots at every race! Some team owners actually have their lameazz professional sports teams to grift from the public with also too. "We need a new stadium or the team will have to leave town."

Every real fan like Mitt knows the real work of nASSkar is making the cookie cutter cars of tomorrow (TM-NO SHIT-That's what they call them) look like a rolling supermarket coupon flyer. Who wants to hang out with mechanics and car drivers when you can hang with the people selling toilet paper and erectile disfunction drugs! These are the real heros if you are limp like Mitt.

Romney is a phony who can't even begin to relate to the majority of the American people and what they go through daily to work hard and make a living and survive in this tough economy. He "has his" and doesn't care about anyone else. He has his investments in the Cayman Islands and Switzerland, he has all his tax breaks, and he doesn't give a rat's butt about America. He is NOT working together with Americans to solve our problems and move the economy forward. He continues his vicious attacks on President Obama, while offering no intelligent and workable solutions as to how he would ever do better.

To elect Romney for POTUS is to hurt America and set us backwards. He is a despicable phony!
