I think in the next war we declare it should be stipulated that ONLY marshmallow cannons can be used. That way nobody has to die, and when you get hit you have a tasty little snack to eat as you leave the field of battle.
Tomorrow we will have to hear from the Republicans about how the President does not take his job seriously and is promoting a faith in science over religion. They ruin everything.
Personally I really enjoy watching the President having fun on the job. Lord knows he deserves it.
Update: The kid who built the marshmallow cannon was not the only one who had a special experience meeting the President.

ReplyDeletePresident Obama has a curiosity of life and everything around him that I feel certain his mother had everything to do with. I wonder if he hadn't followed the path of politics if he wouldn't also have excelled in the sciences since he is such a visionary seeing such a long way out in ideas coming to fruition. He sure looks like he's having a blast with those kids. Bless him. Bless them.

ReplyDeleteThis has got to be one of my favorite President Obama clips yet, and not just because I live in Phoenix, home of this smart young man! My sons both did science fair, and I love seeing the science fair kids on David Letterman from time to time. But the President's genuine interest, great rapport, and wonderful sense of humor makes all of America look good! Plus, that marshmallow cannon is awesome! I'm sure my 35 and 40 year old sons are heading to Home Depot right now!

For Obama supporters (like me) who have gone through a period of feeling disappointment that he didn't seem to fulfill more of his campaign promises during his first years in office, try to get ahold of the Jan. 30, 2012 issue of The New Yorker magazine. There is a terrific article that helped me to see how hard he was working to get the job done.

ReplyDeleteThank goodness for the Occupy Movement, and the Coffee Party. They may have some issues, but the groups are aligned with being more normal than extreme. I hope they continue forward.
I would venture to say that fast forwarding twenty years or so there will be a generation of young people who will voice the fact that they had been personally inspired by this man, in much the same way as those who were inspired by John Kennedy.

Remember the incredible nastiness from the Republicans when President Obama wanted to do a "welcome to your new school year" to American children in September 2009, something that numbskull President George Bush had done with no opposition in previous years. Even in our rather civilized school district, his talk was banned. Barack Obama has been a truly remarkable president and leader.

Last night I watched about 2 minutes of Santorums acceptance speech - 2 minutes is all I good stomach from this backwards thinking bigot. Anyway, he was saying how the President feels he is better than everyone else, smarter than everyone else (code for uppity?). It made me sick because I know our President as a genuinely warm and caring person - it shows and it especially shows when he is with kids. The key word here is genuine - something Romney doesn't possess. Warm and caring - something none of the other candidates possess.
