Rick Santorum tries to grab the special needs spotlight away from Sarah Palin. You know that's not going to happen without a fight!

"Back off Santorum! Don't make me cut you!"
Courtesy of The Daily Beast:

Last week, Rick Santorum and his family offered us a reminder of what really matters. When his 3-year-old daughter, Bella, born with Trisomy 18, was hospitalized with pneumonia, Rick left the campaign trail to be by her bedside. In the middle of this very heated campaign season, many of us prayed through tears for Bella’s health and added prayers of thankfulness for a public example of someone’s sacrifice made with the right priorities.

(Translation: Last week Santorum decided to invade my turf and try to steal MY special needs credibility for himself. Bitch does NOT know who he is fucking with!)

It’s a sacrifice every parent and caregiver of a child with special needs sympathizes with. Families of children with special needs are bonded by a shared experience of the joys, challenges, fears, and blessings of raising these beautiful children whom we see as perfect in this imperfect world.

(Translation: The people I pay to keep that kid away from me and make sure he is healthy and well behaved in case I need him for future political appearances, apparently share a special bond with him and, though they are paid do deal with the challenges, I guess they probably get some joy out of it as well. If such a thing is possible.)

During the 2008 presidential campaign, on rope lines at rallies across the country, my husband, Todd, and I met so many of these families and caretakers, and I’ll never forget them. There was an instant connection—a kind of mutual acknowledgment that said, “Yes, these children are precious and loved. Yes, we face extra fears and challenges, but our children are a blessing, and the rest of the world is missing out in not knowing this.

(Translation: That kid was GOLD on the campaign trail!)
"Do your job and look cute kid."
Every parent struggles with juggling the commitments of work and family. Women, especially, know this well. Over the years, I’ve learned that women can “have it all,” just not all at once. For me, it was a lesson learned through the school of hard knocks, but it was one my own mother made me aware of when she calmly told me that as a working mom in the rough-and-tumble political arena, I would have to make tough choices. We all do. In making decisions about my career, I’ve put my family first, and I’ve never regretted it, although it has meant periodically putting particular pursuits on the back burner.

(Translation: When my mother told me that trying to "have it all" would be hard work, I knew right then that I would focus on making money and getting others to do the hard shit for me.)

When I discovered early in my pregnancy that my baby would be born with an extra chromosome, the diagnosis of Down syndrome frightened me so much that I dared not discuss my pregnancy for many months. All I could seem to muster was a calling out to God to prepare my heart for what was ahead. My prayers were answered beyond my shallow understanding of what true joy could be. Yes, raising a child with special needs is a unique challenge, and there’s still fear about my son Trig’s future because of health and social challenges; and certainly some days are much more difficult than if I had a “normal” child.

(Translation: When I decided to fake a pregnancy, and chose to adopt a child with Down syndrome to stand in for the imaginary baby because nobody would ever be able to say he did not look like his parents, I knew that it could be challenging in the future. But hell I thought I was headed to the White House so I figured it would be somebody else's problem.)

Many everyday activities like doctor’s appointments and social gatherings and travel accommodations and even mealtimes and a solid night of sleep are that much more difficult, but at the end of the day I wouldn’t trade the relative difficulties for any convenience or absence of fear. God knew what he was doing when he blessed us with Trig. We went from fear of the unknown to proudly displaying a bumper sticker sent to us that reads: “My kid has more chromosomes than your kid!” He may not be the next Wayne Gretzky, but our hearts are filled with so much pride watching Trig giggle with his sisters’ puppies, or sway to the rhythm of his Little Angels DVDs, it’s as if he were hoisting the Stanley Cup.

(Translation: The kid can be a real handful, and he keeps fucking hitting me!  But I at least I got the opportunity to drive around with a smug bumper sticker on the Escalade. So there's always that.)

Granted, I know I may be more fortunate than others to have loving friends and a big, supportive family I call on to help, including a husband who spends many sleepless nights with this restless little one. (And Todd actually makes Trig’s puréed baby food!) Others aren’t so fortunate, and in our thankfulness I am made more compassionate toward others who have less.

(Translation: Thank God I have stupid people who send me money for doing nothing and make it so I can afford to hire somebody to deal with Trig. And after this article hits the newsstands I expect you people to dig a little deeper too!)

I often think now, what would we do without Trig? He’s our “everything that really matters.”

(Translation: I often think how much easier my life would be if I had not impulsively decided to fake that pregnancy, but hell I'm stuck with him now so I might as well use him to get attention and make money.)

In all seriousness this is BEYOND pathetic.  I really do believe she is doing this to compete with Santorum and that she was royally pissed to see him getting attention because of Bella. Who, I believe, is actually his real daughter.

A couple of things really bothered me about this article.

First she did NOT include a recent picture of Trig. (Though I guess it might show up in the Newsweek magazine itself.  I will reserve judgement, but I still have to wonder how much she actually sees Trig these days.)
The Palin's at the Reagan Ranch. Was this the last time Trig and Sarah were photographed together?,

And second why is this sentence included?  "Todd actually makes Trig’s puréed baby food!"

Trig is almost FOUR years old! And even though children with Down's often take longer to get onto solid foods, it does not take this long.

So is Palin describing something that used to happen the last time she had Todd were actually caring for the child, or is he really this delayed?

As IF Palin wrote anything. Which minion did she demand spill forth this garbage? R-i-i-ight, Sarah the poor rill American Alaskan Mom who derives such JOY from a child she's never seen with anywhere. Pfft to Sarah. Oh and Sarah? Fuck you and your whole lyin' ass valley trash family. Tina Brown should have her head examined printing this crap. The USA media needs to get over it's junkie-like fascination with the human heroin named Palin.

She really is frighteningly ill/ How does she have the cojones to continue with this story? Sarah, Tri-G did not come out of your vajayjay in April 2008 like you declare.

At least the Santorums did not name Their child with an extra chromosome Tri-E.

Remember: Trygve means "brave victory" in Old Norse. Tri-G means trisomy G, Trisomy 21, Down Syndrome. If Sarah wanted to name the child she acquired after his dear old uncle Trygve, then she should have named him Trygve, or Tryg. But naming him Tri-G is cold hearted and disgusting. Now that she sees how appalled people in the DS community are by this, she has alot of nerve not addressing this horrible naming gaffe.

Well, the writer if this crap wrote "makes," so I guess she/he has seen Todd pureeing something somewhere. Although, it wouldn't surprise me if Sarah has lost her teeth as well as her hair, and he was pureeing those Belle Grandes for her! Yes, Sarah, we are aware of how very many sacrifices you made to carry Trig, ride the jets for hours, and then bypass several equipped facilities to make sure you 'delivered' in a place that would ask no questions and tell no secrets. How much are you paying these people for their silence? As far as sleepless nights, I doubt you were ever up with the girls or Track, let alone Trig. So how would you know? You are a fraud, Sarah, and now there is someone on the trail who actually has a more disabled child than your fake one...whatcha gonna do next? Find Mitt's missing setter and adopt him?

First of all, 'pureed baby food' can be had by mashing most foods with a fork or using a blender - so I fail to see where the big deal is about Todd doing this for his [grand]son. I don't know a parent who hasn't done this.

Second, I agree with Gryphen's observation about a 4 yr old still requiring pureed foods. Would Trig not at least be on junior foods by now? I mean unless the bub has serious digestion problems why isn't he eating big people food like other healthy kids?

Last but not least - what an incredible contrast these two stories provide - one political parent who actually made a sacrifice for his child and another who only talks about making sacrificed for her [grand]child.

I truly believe - at the end of the day - this article is going to bite Sarah in the ass and I hope the media will be there with cameras rolling when it does.

So basically she's pissed Ricky took her cash cow. What a horrid human being she is. I thought there was now worse person on earth than Rick - mostly because he's still out there stalking the nomination, something the grifter from wasilla doesn't have the cajones to do. But seriously Sara - you are probably the most purely evil, manipulative, dishonest person who I've ever had the pleasure to not meet. Even Hitler seems like a sweetheart, Idi Amin a thoughtful man, Sadam Hussein a worldly man compared to you. Perhaps Lizzie Borden might be in your league or some other serial killer - but otherwise you and your hatred are out there on a level most of us have never experienced and hope to never have to. Can you imagine what the world would look like if McCain had been elected? Would we have started the road to recovery or would be be a smoldering wreck of a country? Would you have found a way to weasel or murder him out of office? Would you have pulled the nuclear trigger yet? Would your daughters be banging everything that walked in DC? Would you be home schooling Willow and Piper at the White House? The possibilities are endless and none of the answers are good. Thank God Obama beat your ass to the ground. You'll never get back to where you were in 2008 - no matter how much money you steal from the less fortunate who mistakenly still believe in you you'll always be nothing but a clown, a dangerous one at that.

Probably few will dare take on Sarah's sentimental blather in Newsweek lest they risk offending some other parent (a real parent) of a special needs child -- someone such as Rick Santorum or David Axelrod or me.

But, please, don't let that stop you!

I am the actual biological parent and decades-long caregiver to a special needs child who is now an adult and requires constant help with basic skills -- like eating and breathing.

There are, indeed, "joys" involved, but so much more pain (especially for the child involved). Medical problems are painful, constant, and hard for such a child to understand and are simply experienced as random torture.

Rarely can caregivers live anything approaching a normal life. In fact, the stress of bringing up such a child takes an average of 13 years off the life of the caregiver (by inflicting damage to the telomeres that protect DNA).

I am now in the process of trying to "survive" cancer (at a relatively young age) while caring for my severely disabled adult child. Even with extended family help and resources, this is VERY difficult.

Most parents, who are actually caring for a special needs child know that Sarah is not actually "walking the walk," since she has WAY to much time free time to engage in political posturing.

Trig is a political tool for Sarah, to be cared for by others and trotted out (though not now in person, it seems) whenever she wants sympathetic media attention.

Palin's platitudes about "special needs" children and families are nothing but "canned" sentimental tripe, that, from my perspective, trivialize the tremendous challenges and pain of real families caring for children with severe medical and developmental disabilities.

  23. Anonymous12:01 PM

Every child is a blessing. Parents make sacrifices for every child, in different ways, depending on the needs of the child.
It's to be hoped that, while Trig gets lots of attention (from someone or other), Piper and the other Palin kids also get attention sometimes, so they don't feel left out of the scene.
I'll bet, if you looked at every single American family, you'd find a situation where someone or other is "less than normal," on some scale.
Palin is making herself, once again, into a special Madonna, when she's just a part of the human race.

P.S. And why is it that Todd does or did the pureeing? Does Sarah not know how to do it?
What's so unusual about a sleepless night when you're a parent?
Why doesn't every parent write for Newsweek about their particular circumstances?

How much did she get paid for this gig? Incredible that she'd still use this child by again writing up on how she's accepted his condition as a gift from God. This is not fair to moms out there who do all the hard work caring for real children with disabilities, including Down Syndrome, without all the frills and support system that Sarah enjoys. Would she step back, maybe, and ask Newsweek if they would pay a lower middle class family to write an essay on how they face the daily struggles with their DS child? Would Sarah "sacrifice" her $100,000 or whatever gig and give that opportunity to someone else who might need the money?

While these parents treasure their child and love he/her as much as Sarah does, they'll tell anyone it is not something they would wish for everyone else.

She writes, "Yes, these children are precious and loved. Yes, we face extra fears and challenges, but our children are a blessing, and the rest of the world is missing out in not knowing this." So, in Sarah's mind, the rest of the world is missing out in not knowing this? How about the rest of the world has challenges and fears and anxieties beyond what Sarah Palin can comprehend? What about those who will be denied health care, or denied housing, or help? What about those who HAVE disabled children, while they are themselves experiencing terminal illness, other illness, debilitating illness, death of loved ones, loss of jobs?

"We went from fear of the unknown to proudly displaying a bumper sticker sent to us that reads: "My kid has more chromosomes than your kid!"" -- How can a loving mom and dad praise a stupid bumper sticker? How can caring concerning fearful parents go from "fear of the unknown" to "proudly displaying" that bumper sticker? Is that all she can draw from on this subject? They deal with Trig's challenges by feeling so defensive they have to put a stupid sticker on their car? How's that going to help others? Is she so shallow that, 'how people think about DS' or "how others see her imperfect child', she MUST address it so childishly?

She says, "Others aren't so fortunate, and in our thankfulness I am made more compassionate toward others who have less." --- So, where is the walk, the display of more compassion to those who have less?

She is so desperate. Her "image" is so important to her. That's her priority.

She doesn't really say much about Trig in this article. His sight has definitely been compromised by not wearing his glasses from infancy on. From appearances, he doesn't react to sound either. He's probably clapping to get their attention. And he still sleeps in a crib. Is this normal for DS kids? Really Sarah do you know what he does all day? Does he receive any therapies? Is he in a special pre-school?

Has she ever watched the special olympics? Those kids are amazing. They push themselves to their limits with so much encouragement. They are special, just like every other kid.

That poor child also needs a pair of glasses.

I would also like to remind everyone that when Sarah was expecting Track (Sarah in the red shirt), she was as big as a house. In the other photo, Sarah is supposed to be in her seventh month, pregnant with Trig.

"I know America's potential for goodness, thus greatness, because I
see it every day through my son. Nothing makes me happier or prouder
than to see America's good heart when someone smiles at my Trig. I
notice it happens often in airports. Often a traveler passing by does a
double-take when they see him, perhaps curious about the curious look on
his face; perhaps my son momentarily exercises an uncontrollable motion
that takes the passerby by surprise. Perhaps, as an innocent and candid
child announced when she first met Trig, they think "he's awkward." But
when that traveler pauses to look again and smile, and maybe tells me
what a handsome boy I have, I swell with American pride. I am so
thankful for their good heart. They represent the best in our country
and their kindness shows the real hope we need today."

I have to say I loved reading the comments at Huffpo from IM and other well-known anti- Palin Blog commenters taking down Sarah Palin's recent Newsweek article - 99% of the comments about her are very negative, here's mine, posted under:

"Vermonters" - “When is the MSM going to tell the truth about this grifting Charlatan? Palin did NOT give birth to "Trig", has no special needs child - Bristol is Trig's mother, and also is the mother of "Tripp" and a subsequent "after DWTS" baby. Bristol was NEVER abstinent - just a grifter like her mom. Now - next up Willow is "engaged" - read that "pregnant". Track is NOT married, and in all likelihood he and Britta's "wedding" that never occurred was a front for one of Bristol's or Willow's latest illegitimate babies. Sarah Palin is the consummate grifting fraud! Do your job - MSM - help America understand who this fraud really is!”.

KUDOS to everyone weighing in on the TRUTH! There's certainly been a major shift in the moderation on Huffpo, allowing some very negative comments about her Palin's low IQ, babygate, fraud, and grifting. It's about time!

I am embarrassed to admit I do check in at HP, despite my feelings (and attempts to stop) that Arianna is a hypocrite and anti-Obama-ite. When she posted a picture of President Obama with the caption underneath it that read "Dead on Arrival" - I knew her agenda is not liberal OR progressive.

That said, HP does offer a great deal of information as to what the RWNJ's are promoting (scheming)- and at least for the moment, is actually letting some truth shine on the Grifter from the Great Land!

Anyways, GOOD JOB, everybody! I should go back over there and post a link to IM and some of the other anti-Palin blogs, Shailey's blog, too!

She's been saying these same lines for more than two years (in Going Rogue and in her right-to-life speeches). So Trig's been doing the same thing every morning since he was two years old?
    R I G H T - Sarah must think these lines sound good but they're not believable...

According to Sarah's own book, "Going Rogue," the sonogram that showed a thickening in the neck of the baby she was supposed to be carrying took place at 12 weeks.

The Newsweek article said that she knew about DS early in her pregnancy. So, when is EARLY? 12 weeks is 3 months, a third of the way along. That's not early. Early is the first month, maybe 6 weeks-- too early to be doing a sonogram or an amniocentesis. In fact, there is a risk of miscarriage with an amnio, so some one as pro life as Sarah wouldn't want that risk, even a small risk. She would have accepted whatever God was giving to her. That's the way pro life is supposed to work.

Doctors usually perform amniocentesis at 15-20 weeks, not 12 weeks. Sarah claimed to have driven herself, sneaked in through the back door and used her maiden name. Who was she fooling? She was the Governor of Alaska? Everyplace I go, I have to produce both an insurance card and matching ID. Did Sarah pay cash up front to avoid billing? How does that work these days?

There are very serious rules for a woman having an amniocentesis. To avoid any risk of cramping, she is to be driven home by someone else. Sarah claimed to have driven home herself. A local anesthetic was used. When that happens, hospitals make sure that there is a designated driver. Law suit law suit. They do not want anyone suffering even mild effects of the procedure to drive. They do not want the blame. Sarah claims to have driven herself home. Sarah's written version of the amniocentesis is fake, and makes not sense.

There is no need for Todd or anyone else to be making pureed food for Trig. He should be eating solid foods. There are many finger foods that he should be feeding himself. The store shelves are filled with soft foods that he can digest easily: apple sauce, mashed potatoes, soups. He can pick up tiny meat balls, crackers, anything that can be cut up. Pureed foods go out by 18 months.

    Get that kid some glasses!

The comments at Daily Beast are great. Few believe that Sarah is Trig's mom. She is really addressing this lately, so there must be something she wants that she feels the fake pregnancy keeps her from doing. But I think all she'll accomplish is calling attention to the story and convincing no one. if she keeps at it, it just may be the thing that gets this story blewn out of the water.

A couple of months ago we joined a group of friends from church for lunch out after the service. A grandmother, her daughter and the daughter's DS child, a toddler girl about 18 mos. old. I always like to watch babies in these situations and the toddler was very cute, serious about eating tiny, bite-sized pieces with her fingers or a plastic spoon, drinking from a sippy cup and paying close attention to all those around, giving big smiles to anyone who made eye contact with her (she was wearing her eyeglasses). She clearly did so well because she has received the proper kind of attention and therapy that a loving family (and not wealthy, in this case) will provide.

Sarah Palin could learn a lot from being in the company of these women and this very much loved baby. There is always a sense of trying too hard and insincerity in Sarah Palin's continued self-praise about her relationship with Trig. She should be far beyond the "he is such a blessing" and "we are so blessed." Hypocrisy, thy name is Sarah Palin.

Tweaky has a history of sudden and relentless bailing at the last minute on events. Could it happen again for CPAC? Could she have gotten wind that those wacky Paul supporters have a surprise for the Queen of Fraud?

I take care of a little girl with Down Syndrome. She is almost a year old and cannot yet eat even thin baby cereal however....she was almost three months premature and is way behind because of that as well.

We have been told by many, many experts that she will be delayed in eating, crawling, walking, you name it. However, we have also been told that she would catch up around the age of two. Unlike Trig, she had no heart defect.

If Trig is still eating baby food, there is something seriously wrong with his parenting. The little girl I speak of has had early intervention through Easter Seals, why didn't the Palins do the same for their special needs child? He should be able to eat a hotdog on a bun by now.

At nearly age four, he should be pretty self sufficient even with DS.

I know what Trig is doing. He probably has poor speech development, so this is the only way to let people know that, "Hey, I'm awake! Give me some breakfast! Hey, where is everybody?"

I remember Sarah describing Trig visiting a farm (in her second book). She wrote about Trig holding his hand in front of him like a North Star, guiding him as he ran forward, trying to reach the animals on the farm that he liked.

The reason that Trig runs with his arm out in front of him is so that he doesn't bump into anything. I challenge anyone reading here to think of a time when you wake up in the middle of night. It's dark, and even though you know your bedroom like the back of your hand, when you reach out for the light switch, your hand is out in front of you to prevent you from bumping into anything. If you are in a strange place, for sure that North Star hand in front of you is running interference.

"God knew what he was doing when he blessed us with Trig."

Sarah claims to be both a journalism major and a devout Christian woman of faith. The sentence should read, "God knew what He was doing when He blessed us with Trig."

It is the height of arrogance to presume to know what God knows. In "Going Rogue," Sarah wrote that God knows her. He does not know Sarah. God is not leaning over the shoulder of kids taking exams, football players who want to score a touchdown, or a unqualified VP candidate. God has big serious issues, such as watching the birthplace of Judaism, Christianity and Islam blow up. That's a major trifecta where He has major interests. As if that isn't enough, there have been major weather disturbances around the world. Half of the US is basking in a warm winter without show while Europe is frozen with snow as far south as Rome and Naples, burying people in Eastern Europe. God has one big mess to clean up and straighten out, so He is not running around bestowing blessing because some guy in Alaska can make pureed food.

Sarah, here is how it works. You are supposed to honor God. He is not supposed to be honoring you. God did not pick out a special blessing for you. If He had that ability, there would be no children born with defects, no children who get cancer at an early age, and children would not be abused or neglected.

If Trig was truly her "everything that matters", why
did she agree to put his special needs interests aside and accept Grampa McCain's VP offer when he was a tiny infant and needed her the most?

If Trig was truly her "everything that matters", why wasn't he on her bus ride to nowhere tour during the summer when she was pretending to run for president?

Trig is her prop. Her very lucrative prop. And now that he's outgrown being hoisted around like a football or a sack of potatoes, he's been retired from duty. But she's still "writing" about him and exploiting him whenever she can.

I've got one question for her. We know what Trig has done for her because of his special needs, but what in the hell has she really done for the special needs community?

    Exactly nothing. That's what.

(btw, Tell Sarah to come back and glorify herself when she's got more than 4 yrs of care taking of a special needs child under her belt. I'm sure her stable of nannies does the heavy lifting anyway. I've taken care of my son w/ autism for 22 yrs and as far as I know, I haven't been anointed as a saint yet.)

a pro-life woman doesn't have an amnio, since there are risks of a miscarriage with the procedure.
The reason to have an amnio is to then make a choice about whether to carry a disabled baby to term.
If you're "pro-life," that's never a question, so there was no need for her to ever have the procedure.
Plus: all the details you add, about driving herself home, going in a back door, etc. And, amnios are done at about four months, not three.

There is almost zero correlation between her vocal and written use of language. Word patterns and sentence structure, grammar and syntax, are completely different.

Of course, oral and written communication are different. When one writes they have time to think about what they are writing, but it would be a highly unusual case to consistently see such great differences between written and spoken word from the same individual.

Sarah has a stock speech about learning that she was supposed to give birth to a child with DS and choosing life. She gives this speech to pro-life groups, however I wonder why she doesn't give the same speech to Down Syndrome organizations. She would be a phenomenal fund raiser for them, and they would love to hear her story. She could even tell all of her famous stories, such Trig applauding each new day.

The reason that Sarah does not address DS organizations is because they would see through her in an instant. I am surprised that for all her millions, she is not generous with her donations to them, nor does she give them her time and celebrity in fund raising.

Sarah uses her Trig story to appeal to religious, conservative people and for political purposes. She doesn't seem to talk about the therapy that Trig is receiving or what he is capable of doing.

    NO.

She decided there was far too much attention & sympathy being shown to him that she felt rightfully belonged to HER. After all, SHE'S the one who went to all the trouble to fake a pregnancy. If ANYONE is gonna milk a special needs kid, its gonna be her goshdarnnit!

That's why only the 1st paragraph was dedicated towards Rick's kid Bella. The rest was an ode to special needs parenthood according to the gospel of Palin. It was sickening, fake and unbelievably phony, especially since she couldn't be bothered to pen anything new. It was all a cut & paste of crap ghostwritten by RAM in the past.

According to her Pac disclosures, she paid good money for a lot of ghostwritten speeches, op-eds, Facebook screeds, etc. I guess the cheap-ass side of her shines through in the end....RECYCLE. RECYCLE. RECYCLE.

In the end, we may end up thanking this crazy bitch. In her desperate attempt to draw attention to herself(yet again) she drew the spotlight on her biggest weakness...TRIG.

I have two special needs grandchildren. My daughter-in-law and son really have a lot of responsibility. Grand daughter is 17 has the mental ability of a four year old. She also is very social and active. She loves to go to girl scouts, sing in the choir at church, plays softball and ice skates in the Challenger League. She also has seizures and many health problems. She also talks constsntly. My grandson is 12 but not as social. He does love to play softball. He can say some words but does not talk much. They are both precious to our family and my daughter in law would never have aborted them. They do lead a very stressful life because of the children's health problems. They can not afford help like Sarah yet Sarah wants people to feel sorry for her. Sarah wants to take away the small amount of help they do get. Sarah is evil and thinks everything is about her. Sarah needs to set down and shut up. Now I will stop rambling. Sorry about that.

What kind of mother who pretends that child is loved more than anything, still takes speaking gigs far away from home and her doctor (not an OBGYN, a GP at that) and ignores admitting herself to the hospital when she feels a "strange senstation low in her belly?" Instead she waits a whole day to hop on two five hour long flights to get into Anchorage and drive another hour to a hospital ill-equipped to handle special needs premie births?

My neighbor's son was born with Down syndrome at a time when those kids were warehoused. There was no therapy available. Parents did not have the internet to connect them and supply information. She did not have a support system, and there was very little written or understood that would help her.

She was amazing. She taught her son to talk, to read, and to ride a bicycle. Yes, she called everyone in the neighbor and told us to watch out for him as he came riding by, but he achieved far more than playing with puppies and dancing to music.

Why didn't we hear about Trig's therapy? Is he able to speak? Does he recognize people and objects and call them by name? Does anyone play games with him such as: show me all of the red things that you can find or let's look for things to build a castle. Clapping his hands and playing with puppies and he is going to be four years old. With all of Sarah's millions, she should be doing much more for him.

I know that her trials and tribulations were unknown and remain unrealized. Her experience has always been superficial and it sickens me that she capitalizes on Trig's condition, whether he is hers or not.

I don't trust that Game Change is having Sarah mumbling that she misses her baby and wants to sleep with him. I don't believe it. I don't think she had him, I don't think she nursed him and I doubt she nurtures him at all.

Even before he was 'born' she was posting how she and Todd were so excited and up to the challenge of raising a special needs child.

It ticked me off as a parent of a DS child, she had no idea what was coming but to make it seem like a piece of cake, and welcomed at that, is nauseating. It isn't all bread and roses, but there are inherent rewards. That doesn't make us special needs parents saints either.

You want an easy support base? Just say you chose life. You are a mama. You are a mama grizzly. You wear lipstick. You are a proud red-neck. And ya got a slobbering, applauding audience that only gives a shit about Life when it is developing, but not when it is out of the womb.

  153. Anonymous6:08 PM

I don't understand how Sarah can preach about how "Rick Santorum and his family offered us a reminder of what really matters." Who appointed her the Priority Family Matters Police? Does she walk the walk? Where were her priorities when she abandoned her infant special needs son as Governor, during her VP campaigning, her stints at travel, talk shows, books, tours, reality show, travel, Fox News contributor, daily pursuit of the public's attention. WHERE was Sarah's priority? Her mind obviously was on many other things since that child's birth.

Of course the Santorums did what any normal family would do. But, why are they singled out by Sarah? Does Sarah not realize how the "rill" people live?

Yes, Sarah, children do matter to most mothers and fathers. They matter so much that moms stay at home, if they financially can, to bond and care for their infant. They don't trek to the office immediately after with the baby in a carrier and if that special needs child is prone to viruses with a low immune system, where is the lesson of where a mother's priorities lie? A child's health? Or Insisting on bringing him to work 3 days after his birth? - Real people with true convictions and priorities don't add stress to the baby's life - they plan their maternal leave, they postpone their careers, postpone their plans, child, endure disruptions. No nannies, caretakers, extra family support. It's not hard to forget how Sarah suggested to the Alaskan villagers during that hard winter that they should move to where the work was? She would suggest they leave the family unit and uproot their lives to a new community without a soul to help them. It's one way for Sarah and another way for everyone else.

What that essay doesn't address is how parents raise these children in this imperfect world. They don't bark at their President. They don't depend on OPM. They don't whine and complain. They don't demand attention. They don't look for sympathy. They don't claim victimhood.

I just don't understand how this essay drivel can be tolerated by real-life Alaskans who are the strong ones. They don't brag about their challenges and priorities, nor do they whine about them, they just DO them.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Anonymous6:23 PM

Is she trying to "guilt" Santorum into "sacrificing" by dropping out of the race? Sort of a "Look at me. I didn't run because I had a special needs child. Rick shouldn't either."

"what really matters" is that describing a high-risk pregnancy in terms of blatant endangerment of an unborn child indicates that Sarah Palin is mentally unstable.

In her own books, Sarah Palin boasts of boarding a transcontinental flight after an unchecked amniotic fluid leak for a premature Down Syndrome baby and over 40, 7th pregnancy, history of miscarriages, no NICU hospital not even rated for twins.

That's not media hype or political enemies, that's Sarah Palin herself talking. And that is not sane.

Sarah Palin is too stupid to understand that bringing Trig back into media focus again risks the perfectly natural questions about her "wild ride".

Keep it up, Sarah! You will cause the exposure of the sorry tale of Trig that should have come out in 2008.

I have quite a bit of experience with DS babies and toddlers( I did medically fragile fostercare). The only reason that at 4 Trig is not eating solids and vocalizing (talking) would be if he did NOT get the correct therapies from an intense Zero to Three program, That is a complete failure on the Palin's part. And IMO it should be catagorized as abuse and neglect. I can just about guarentee you that if they were poor and had an involved social worker that those things would have been enough for him to be removed until the parents got on the therapy bandwagon.

For someone whose paid trolls report about how "close" the Palin family is, doing everything together, laughing at the "haters" and saying they don't need anyone, Sarah's decision to not tell anyone about her alleged pregnancy for months, betrays the "happy family" troll as being a hypocrite and liar.
Close families share things with each other, the good and the bad, because they trust and love their family, but not Sarah. She's so full of shit, lying about why she didn't tell anyone about her pregnancy. Sarah didn't say a word because she didn't actually know if she was going to be "pregnant" until John McCain cinched the nomination.

Sarah pretending to be the ever vigilant mother, protecting her kids, is just another lie she tells to spin the happy family saga. Hell, when she was Governor, she farmed her kids out to friends and relatives rather than take care of them. This wasn't anything new due to being Governor, she'd been doing it for years and wasn't going to change while she was Governor. That claim about how she does it all has always been a farce you could see through after listening to her speak. After four years, she still can't speak with any knowledge about raising a child with Down Syndrome because she's not doing the raising or any of the care. Of course, she does allow her PAC the privilege of paying for Trig's care.

Sarah, you're no longer relevant, neither are the trashy daughters or feminine-sounding Toad. You're time is up and nobody gives a damn about what you say about being a parent.

This maniacal lunatic, selfish, thoughtless, egotistical, babbling moron not only chose to embark upon a transcontinental flight with leaking amniotic fluid, she bragged about it. This act alone is diagnostic of irrational thought. This act alone renders Ms. Palin reckless. As such, for the love of God, I can not imagine why anyone, anyone, would consider her a political force or worthy of an opinion on anything outside Botox and Liposolve.

Damn that woman is an idiot. she's redundant and wants to be pity. It's the same dried up shit she pulls out her flat ass year after year. Damn hillbilly thinks her tired out tricks will work in the lower 48.

  178. rick is as slimy as the clown bitch. I thought he left because he was losing the campaign so the sudsy one claimed he had to do his taxes.

he bragged that he could be home with his family doing taxes, I guess like a regular non-millionaire family man. BARF That excuse didn't go over too well so he changed his story to be about his sick child.

Anyone else remember this story? G?

@7:04 The reason that Trig didn't get any therapy during the first three years of his life is because he was working at his unpaid job. Trig's resume:
    1. 0-5 months: validate Grandma's pro-life credentials and make sure that she gets that job as the VP nominee. (I hate being dragged around in that pillowcase. Sometimes the fabric sticks to my face and I can hardly breathe).
2.5-7 months: Republican Convention and Republican campaign for President (well, Grandma was running for Vice President, but that old guy didn't stand a chance once they all got to Washington DC)
3.8-12 months: Photo opportunities, posing with my brother, Tripp.
    4. 1st year to 18 months: Book sales, Grandma is dragging us half way around the country by bus and plane to sell books about me.
    5. 2 years: Rallies and appearances. I wish that they would teach me to write so I could keep track of every place that I have been. My job is to wave at the crowd, pose for pictures and validated Grandma's right to life credentials. That's what they tell me.
    6. Three years: There is a second book about me, but I am getting too heavy to drag around. I do get to go on vacations, pose for photos, wave at people. Life is a blur because they don't let me wear my glasses. I am sure that the crowds are making noises, but thankfully, most of those sounds are muffled and I hardly hear a thing. I can't teach myself. I wish I had help.

    O/T - 'Pink Ribbons'

Further to the trailer of the documentary film 'Pink Ribbons' that Gryphen posted in an earlier blog, here are two short videos of conversations, one with the Director, Ravida Din, (4 mins) and the other with the Producer, Lea Pool (3:27 mins).

The 3rd video is the TIFF 2011 Q&A (26 mins (when the film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. The first few moments, the speaker in the audience did not have a microphone but they repeat the question. They did then provide mics in the audience.

She is once again dangling the carrot, confident that no one can touch her. Her confidence is running high right now; she doesn't think anyone can or will expose the truth. She is giving all "trig-truthers" the finger with this article and at the same time crowding in on Santorum. Nobody steals Sarah limelight - not even a sick little girl.

Liz: No, Jenna, I don't think you'd make a good mother.

    Jenna (indignant): Why not?

Liz (exasperated): Because you're jealous of how soft a baby's skin is!

Jenna: AND how much attention they get.

Everyone is doing a great job on the DB article bringing up questions about Trig. Love it!

I noticed in the picture on the DB article it looks like Track is in the background. Did anyone else notice it? He doesn't look happy either, as is usual for him. Hmmmm.

Here are is a funny exchange in the comments I thought I would bring over...
Did you all see how hot Palin and Bachmann looked at the Searchlight Arizona Tea Party. Beautiful and Intelligent. Now that's a package, especially while wearing tight black leather pants.

You know how they'd look even hotter?

Yes I do remember the story about the taxes. I didn't think about the the timing of the change in his story. I think you're right, he was desperate for more votes and went for the sympathy. Disgusting.

    "Sisters' puppies"?

The Palins have puppies??? (Bitches, yes; puppies, no.)

When do they have time to raise and take care of pets with all that traveling between various houses? Has anybody ever seen them with puppies? No pictures of sharing ice cream or hugging or walks?

Worse... if "puppies" is code for "babies"... is the use of the plural possessive: multiple Palin daughters have babies, all lolling around on the hearth like a mixed litter?

If Child Services won't intervene, maybe Animal Control will. :<
