Three years of progress.
Now THAT is a powerful campaign commercial!
I wish today were election day, because I am ready to vote for our President right now!
Loved it! I'm so proud of our President. Thank you, Mr. Obama, for not giving up on the American people as the GOP was willing to do with the auto industry. We NEED four more years to really turn things around completely but there's no doubt we're on our way!
I have never been happier with a president in my life and I will work just as hard this time, as last time, maybe harder, because so much is at stake and we have to dodge a bullet TWICE! 2008 and 2012. Let's stay together and have a LANDSLIDE. 4 more for 44.
Obama, the Guy with the Purple Shirt, and a Promise Kept
OK Democrats, lets get every Dem we know to get to the polls, or vote by mail if need be, and make this another landslide victory for our President Obama.
An adviser to Sarah Palin, a Tea Party leader and a Republican politician are starting a super PAC to endorse conservative women running for office and gather women's support for the Republican nominee in the presidential election.
Ford Motor Company wasn't facing bankruptcy, but sent their executive to testify that the bankruptcy of Chrysler and GM would ruin the parts supply network and force the end of North American manufacturing. Toyota and Honda sent letters to the same effect.
Love the ad, but it is only for those of us who can read at a reasonable level! That unfortunately leaves out the majority of those who SHOULD view this with an open mind. Sorry... I forgot that regressive and open mind are mutually exclusive. I have only one suggestion to the makers of this video. It relates to the wording of the Bin Laden elimination. The regressives will pounce all over that one, as it sounds as if the President himself found and killed BL and it could be avoided by a simple rephrasing.
The paltry turnout in the Republican Presidential contests over the last week reflects what we've seen in our recent national polling: Democrats are now more excited about voting this fall than Republicans are, reversing the enthusiasm gap that plagued the party in 2010.
Our last national survey for Daily Kos found that 58% of Democrats were 'very excited' about voting this fall, compared to 54% of Republicans. Six months ago the figures were 48% of Democrats 'very excited' and Republicans at the same 54%. Generally you would expect voters to get more excited as the election gets nearer. That trend is occurring on the Democratic side, but not for the GOP.
Going deeper inside the numbers:
-25% of conservatives are not at all excited to vote this fall, compared to only 16% of liberals.
-The percentage of Tea Party voters 'very excited' about voting in November has declined from 73% to 62% since late July.
-The single group of voters most enthused about turning this year are African Americans, 72% of whom say they're 'very excited' to cast their ballots.
Obviously all this could change once Republicans are settled on a nominee. But for now Barack Obama's prospects in both our state and national polling are looking the best they have in quite a long time.
George W. Bush and the neo-cons punched great big holes in both the economic and jobs buckets and then ran out the door.
For the past three years the Republicans and Fox News have been pointing at the President and shouting "LOOK! That black guy is letting everything run out of our buckets!"
Now that President Obama (in spite of bald-faced opposition from the Republicans) has made much progress repairing the holes in the buckets - the Republicans running for office are promising to do the exact. Same. Things that blew the holes in the buckets in the first place.
I almost lost a very good friend of over 20 years because 2 years ago I said I would vote for Obama again. She thought I should at least consider other candidates - the TeaPublicans. At the time I had no idea who might be running against Obama but I had a pretty good idea the field would look like it does now (minus SP of course). Looking at the photo of him watching the OBL raid, that is exactly the type of person I want as President - a serious person. The people coming out of the clown car that is the Republican primary do not deserve even a passing glance.
But it really saddens me that there is a large segment of our country so filled with blind hate that they can't see the good this man is doing. They can't even acknowledge that he's a good person, with a kind heart who is sincere about helping his country. He doesn't have an ounce of malice in him, yet they make out to be the devil. It is truly troubling.
The Republican nominating process last night was rendered a howling mess for the next two months. Super Tuesday is going to be a bloodbath, especially in the South, where Willard will have to see if he can grovel any lower than he already has, where N. Leroy Gingrich, Definer of Civilization's Rules and Leader (Perhaps) of the Civilizing Forces, will make his last stand in places like Alabama and Mississippi, where Ron Paul can continue about the business of Being Ron Paul, and where Rick Santorum can try to build on the momentum he is alleged to have developed last night, when no delegates were on the line, but when he clearly became the favorite candidate of a political movement reduced at the moment to its essential nihilism, and when he became the vessel for that vast number of things about which a fuck need not be given, including the truth, science, the Republican party, and that fragile old republic called the United States of America.
Bill O’Reilly was twisting himself in knots trying to figure out a way not to give Obama any credit for saving the auto industry. Since facts weren’t on his side, Bill-O went with the most convenient all-purpose Obama smear on the Fox News shelf, the claim that President Obama is arrogant. President Obama was criticized up and down by Republicans like Mitt Romney for the bailout, but since it worked, they now have to find a way not to give the president any the credit for it.
It is the height of arrogance for TV talking head Bill O’Reilly to lecture the President Of The United States that he needs to be more humble, but this is what Obama has been dealing with from the right since he became the Democratic nominee in 2008. White Republicans consistently have placed themselves above the president and have demeaned and lectured him at every turn.
The idea that Obama lacks humbleness is another bit of racial code put out there by Fox News.
Gryphen, usually by Super Bowl Sunday during an election year, cars are plastered with bumper stickers in the Greater Washington area. Apart from one Ron Paul sticker I saw in Pennsylvania, I've spotted NO sticker for ANY 2012 GOP candidate. Not one.
Anon@9:36--I totally agree with you. If the Repubs had worked for the good of the country instead of being strictly anti-Obama on everything, this country would be in much better shape.
I vividly recall what it was like a little over three years ago, when Mr. Obama was running for office against Mr. McCain and his ill-chosen and unqualified running mate.
It is not much different now in terms of how the right tries to portray Mr. Obama. Check this out from an article in the November 3, 2008 The Nation written by Richard Kim:
"In case you haven't heard, there's a guy running for president named Barack Hussein Osama Nobama. This Nobama was born outside America and secretly schooled in Islamic terrorism at a Wahhabi madrassa. He then moved to the United States to take up the radical '60s teachings of the Weather Underground's Bill Ayers, while also organizing for ACORN, a subprime-lending, voter fraud-committing collective of affirmative-action welfare queens. All this happened before he became an elitist celebrity advocate of socialism, infanticide, the sexual abuse of children and treason.
Suffice it to say, this caricature stretches even the limits of comic imagination. The real Obama's Christianity, his patriotism, moderation and commitment to capitalism, law and order, and national security are matters of abundant public record--some of which displeases the left wing of his party. But this is of little import to the Republican rank and file. For them, the fallaciousness of the whole counts for less than the suggestive appeal of the parts. All John McCain, Sarah Palin and their surrogates need to do is raise the insidious question--'Who is the real Barack Obama?'--and the zealots conjure the rest, along with cries of 'Treason!' 'Kill him!' and 'Off with his head!' The virulence of such rhetoric makes even Palin seem thoughtful; she at least inserts whole verb phrases like 'palling around with' in between nouns like 'Barack Obama' and 'terrorists.'"
The President had me at "hello" and he's got my vote again. I do phone work for OFA, and I've heard bullcrap from Republicans AND "progressive democrats",
I know democrats who were willing to not vote because "their pet issue" wasn't addressed, and they're coming around, considering the alternatives, the obstruction, and the facts in this video, but the majority of the calls are chomping at the bit to vote for him, especially those who weren't voting age three years ago.
Vote Obama, and bring a friend or two along with you. We can't afford the clowns and four more years of GWBush lite.
I got a job today, after 17 months of unemployment.
Do not give this country back to the 1%. For the first time in my life, I put a bumper sticker on my car last week. It says "99%."
I shudder to think what kind of economy we would be experiencing if McCain and his incompetent second-in-line grifter extraordinaire would have been elected.
But we all need to work to get more than 58% excited to vote. That is not enough! We've got nine months to get the rest of them fired up. Do Not Sit This One Out!
Yeah, riiiiight. Tell that to the people with Master's Degrees living in tent cities.
Ahh, propaganda. I love it watching how people become so easily fooled with promises of utopia when there are 46% Americans living on food stamps and the highest unemployment rate since the Great Depression.
Dream on. You're going to need your fantasies to get through this GLOBAL economic collapse combined with total GLOBAL warfare heading our way.
Ignorance may be bliss, but it'll kill you in the long run - stop living in Obama fantasy-land. Republicans are worse - so there you go.
Me too. And I wanted to get my support for President Obama in before "Gasman" comes along and deflates anyone's enthusiasm!
