Now, while the tone of this remark may have been tongue-in-cheek to some extent, I think that there was an edge and a point to it: WHO is the one who is hardy and strong enough to bear up under both the physical storms of the winter season in The Great Land and the political storms of an election season in America? She does not have to spell out the answer; she leaves it to us to do that: S-A-R-A-H …SARAH!!!!
She summarizes the strategic and key place that Alaska holds in our polity, with its riches in natural gas; with its abundance of oil; with its strategic location. Again, she does not have to SAY it, but we remember who was GOVERNOR of this key State, and who, in part of a term, accomplished more than most governors do in multiple terms!!
Alaskans look at obama's naïve apologies to SAVAGES in Afghanistan who turn around and kill our soldiers, and they say, "ABO," "Anybody But obama."
Alaskans are tired of the pettiness in the GOP primary process.
It is very important to get a Commander-in-Chief whom our troops deserve.
Alaskans believe in the US Constitution and in their State Constitution. This State Constitution established that the Forty-Ninth State should be as self-sufficient as possible. But the Feds have impeded and interfered with this principle, especially when it comes to energy development.

obama manipulates the domestic supply of energy and bows to our enemies: This INFURIATES Alaskans. Further, his manipulation of US currency is devaluing the dollar--which eventually leads to phenomena like the high price of gas.
We need to replace obama with someone who understands the energy security that is JUST AT OUR FINGERTIPS--and Alaska has a lot to do with that.
Guys, to my eyes, this was as strong a statement that she is going to run as she could make without formally announcing.
The other candidates are not tough enough for the winter climate of The Great Land---by implication, they are not tough enough for the "winter," hibernal climate of the savage PPD (Politics of Personal Destruction) that are waged by the Chicago thug and his minions.
She emphasized this point via the raging fire that grinned at us from the background during the interview, a fire that was a symbol both of the storms and winter outside, and the fire inside her that can meet and overcome the storm!!
The other candidates cannot come close to matching her record with and experience in ENERGY issues, which she emphasized as paramount and critical to the security of the nation.
SHE DOES NOT SAY IT DIRECTLY, BUT SHE IMPLICITLY CONTRASTS THE SMALLNESS AND PETTINESS OF THE GOP PRIMARY PROCESS WITH HER OWN STATESMAN-LIKE QUALITIES IN FOCUSING ON THE NATION'S INTERESTS: DEFEATING AND OUSTING OBAMA, AND SECURING OUR NATION, BOTH IN TERMS OF ENERGY AND IN TERMS OF OUR MILITARY.
Only Sarah, from her lofty seat in the High North Country, takes the long view, as she gazes down with the eyes of the Eagle upon the discomfiture and the crisis of our times!
IMHO, this great interview delivered a subtle but powerful punch!!

I get it, there are times when the US has come to the aid of other nations at critical points in history, or during political unrest, and been welcomed - though of course that is usually only when we have something economic at stake - but so often we are propping up dictators or occupying lands just for our own strategic interests. It's disgusting, and there is an appalling arrogance at work in these practices. Sarah Palin doesn't know squat about history and foreign affairs, and she should just shut her trap. FOX News is a freaking nightmare for this country. They get to pretend they are informed when they are anything but, and so many of their viewers are just as under/mis-informed.
Now, I believe our President does understand the larger picture and has carefully weighed the necessity of foreign intervention and US presence abroad. As you say, Gryphen, people do not realize how fortunate we are that we have an INTELLIGENT person as President at this time. McCain/Palin would have opened other Middle Eastern fronts by this point, and we could be in a total conflagration by now, likely. Endless War for Endless Profit.
Let's stop pretending the US takes the high road in all things - it's a self-delusion so we can all try to sleep at night, but nothing more. Hear that, Sarah? Just keep quiet and GO AWAY.

I have been praying fervently for Sarah's son who is in Afghanistan. She must be so worried. And knowing what we know about Sarah, I'll bet she is chomping at the bit to say something about Obama apologizing to Karzai, and furthering the violence against our men and women who are serving.
We are living in terrible times. May God have mercy on the Republic and all of us.

And the lack of ability to move her facial features is glaring. You can see the muscles try and fail to overcome the stone that used to be her muscles and now she has to wag her head side to side instead of raising eyebrows or furrowing her brow - must be the botox froze her features. Whatever attractiveness she had is now long gone. I'm guessing that's why most of the media uses stock photos of her from 2008 dolled out in the clothes she stole from the RNC - wonder what ever happened to those clothes? The far right would like to make these issues black or white, us or them, good or evil. I appreciate that we have a true leader who can understand the complexities and is big enough to own up to a mistake. This in no way justifies the retaliation, but again attaching the blame of that to the whole of the Afghan Muslim population asinine and nonproductive.

Mainstream releases are backed by huge marketing pushes; self published books are never reviewed. I'm not saying Shailey's book isn't true, only that since she wasn't able to find a NY publisher interested in what she has to say, her book will be ignored. The same fate awaits "Fred"'s book if it is self-published. Sad, but true.

She has lived in this country for a long time..her kids are all regular American children. Yet she can barely speak English. Reminds me of the Gabor whores. My own grandfather came from Switzerland at 18 and could not speak one word of English. He worked very hard and it wasn't long until he no longer had anyone asking where he was from. He was proud of that. His wife, my grandmother, did the same thing when she came here at 13 from Sweden.
