Julianne Moore discusses her preparation to play Sarah Palin in the HBO movie "Game Change."

Courtesy of New York Daily News:

"I listened to her book on tape, 'Going Rogue,' I went on YouTube and found all of her media appearances, all the speeches, debates, the convention speeches, and put them all on my iPod. I wiped everything off except for 'Ice Ice Baby,' which is the song that my daughter ice-skated to," Moore told Jay Leno.

"My 14-year-old son was really embarrassed by that. There is nothing worse than a mom who has nothing but Sarah Palin and 'Ice Ice Baby' on her iPod. I'd put it on in the car, I'd listen to it when I was running. I'd listen to it constantly. It was really a total immersion."

But the Oscar-nominated actress went even further than an iPod reset for the role. Moore's uncanny physical resemblance to the former Alaskan governor was the result of a daily two-and-a-half-hour makeup job.

"Everything had to change — my skin tone, the shape of my face, my lips, my eyes, I wore contact lenses," said Moore. "Everything was completely changed."

Ms. Moore is being VERY diplomatic here, and I really do think that she is going to portray Sarah Palin as honestly as she can, but ANYBODY who has to listen to hours and hours of Palin talking simply cannot help but form an opinion of her that would not be very charitable. (Unless of course you grow up dining on paint chips like those sad folks over at the Sea O'Pee.)

Personally I think that Julianne Moore should be nominated for an Emmy simply for having to immerse her self in Sarah Palin's life.

Or maybe a Purple Heart would be more fitting.

We're going to deal with Game Change, the HBO film drawn from the 2008 campaign book written by John Heilemann and the far less excusable Mark Halperin, at some length next week. But, apparently, the production concentrates rather exclusively on the selection and nomination by the McCain campaign of Princess Dumbass Of The Northwoods. The word on this, apparently, has reached the near vicinity of Grifter's Hollow.

Let the whining and sponging and the driving-of-nails-into-one's-own-palms begin!

"Behind Game Change's slanderous agenda is a trail of money leading straight to the Barack Obama campaign and the Democrat Party," states the release. "Writer Danny Strong and director Jay Roach each donated the maximum $2,300 to Barack Obama's campaign in 2008. Even actress Julianne Moore, who plays the Governor herself, contributed to the more than $120,000 donated to Obama and Democrats since 2008 by the film's producers and cast."

These people honestly believe that the president awakens every night in a cold sweat that a halfwit with a 56 percent disapproval rating will run against him for president.

Now, even granting that any Republican who tried to push this lemon on the American people four years ago needs to take a long timeout from being believed on anything ever again, the money-grubbing victimologizing that is going to result from this film is going to make her even more beloved by those already in her deep database of abject suckers. This may ensure that she doesn't have to look for a real job again for at least three more years.

How nice of Jay and Julianne to gloss over the reality of what the movie is going to ultimately show us, sucks to be you, scara. We already know that the politics are tough, but we did not know what a phoney you are scara. The most wonderful thing about the revelation, is that you alone were responsible for the outcome, you can't blame a single soul for your missteps. It is all documented for the world to see. I think you should have "blinked", don't you?

"Game Change" kicks off in August 2007 with McCain asking Schmidt to join his team when his campaign is lacking. It soon skips ahead in time to McCain being convinced by aides that choosing Palin, who was Alaska governor at the time, as a running mate would excite the Republican party's conservative base and lure female voters.

But the film shows Palin never having been properly screened in a rushed, five-day vetting process. Under immense pressure, in some scenes she looks nervous and vulnerable, including before she steps onto the stage at the Republican convention to give a speech that made her a star of the party's conservative wing.

The film does not delve too deeply into Palin's personal life and family except to offer quick scenes of a close-knit clan and Palin as a supportive, affectionate mother.

"Game Change" does show an increasingly unstable politician who complains about being a political puppet while performing some of her now famous gaffes -- from an inability in an interview to name a newspaper she reads to knowing little about the genesis of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

When Palin, the character, is asked if she wants to take a break as aides rush to educate her in foreign affairs, she answers, "No way, this is flippin' awesome."

She is also shown under extreme stress. Aides worry she is heading toward a nervous breakdown as she refuses to eat and is obsessed with her poll ratings back home in Alaska.

But in some scenes, the film -- as does the SarahPAC video -- shows a charismatic, hard-working Palin whose Republican convention speech reshaped the race and how she attracted huge crowds at rallies and connects with voters.

I guess we'll have to wait another week to find out if anyone had to wrestle her fingers loose from her dual Blackberries, and if anyone was injured in the free-for-all.

In fact, did the HBO production crew get that little quirk right? Look for the Blackberries throughout the movie!

      The quitter, hard-working? Not.

The crowds that Palin drew, were nothing compared to the crowds President Obama is able to attract. I’m tired of the media saying $arah Palin “connects with voters.” That is inaccurate. She connects with a certain kind of voter, but alienates the majority of other voters. That’s why her poll numbers suck.

My only comment is that it will be interesting. Sarah is one of very few people in the world who can light up a room just by walking into it. That cant be mimicked. She's also one of the few who can reach people with just a simple touch. People love her when they meet her. That's obvious, especially when you hear people who youd think would hate her actually like her. She compassionate and confident, and shows that she really cares about you and the world.

Do you mean light up a room with racist, violent opposition to a democratically elected president? Do you mean use sarcasm and implication to turn a large portion of American citizens into non-humans? Are you talking about all that us versus them and values of one group being sacred and values of others who disagree being evil? Do you mean targeting political opponents as if they were game animals? A little superficial charm to potential followers in person doesn't make up for who she really is. Or is it who YOU really ARE, Sarah.

Do you really believe Miss Wasilla/Alaska/USA/America are always compassionate and confident, and show that they really care about the people they meet and the world?

No, there is a significant number of times they plaster on the smile and the wave and the pose, and greet people because it's what they signed up for when they entered the competition. Just like politicians.

Sometimes they are just too distracted or overloaded or sociopathic to give a damn about the people they face -- but they do the job, because they want the next prize. And they won't win it if they show what they really think.

Sociopath's are often extremely charming people. They work hard at creating an attractive, interesting persona - it is a critical part of their scam.

As soon as the 2008 campaign was over, SP could not wait to dump her government job of "serving the people". She wasn't interested in the hungry children and elders in rural Alaska, and failed to provide basic health services for the elderly and sick, resulting in 200+ deaths.

Um, a lot of people can do that. President Obama does it all the time. He even attracts huge crowds in other countries. Can Palin do that? NO. If $arah Palin walked into a room, I would leave in a hurry.

“She's also one of the few who can reach people with just a simple touch. People love her when they meet her. That's obvious, especially when you hear people who youd think would hate her actually like her.”

Really? Then why are people who have met Palin writing about what a despicable person she is, and why did people who met her spill the beans to the authors of “Game Change” about what a fucked up mess Palin is? And why then is $arah Palin one of the most despised women in America?

“She compassionate and confident, and shows that she really cares about you and the world.”

$arah Palin, “compassionate?” HELL NO! Two words: “Blood libel.” $arah Palin is definitely overly confident, (except when dealing with real reporters) and very full of herself. That part I agree with. I have seen no evidence that $arah Palin cares about anybody but herself. For somebody who allegedly cares about the world, she seems to know very little about it.

$arah, your mental illness is showing.

Face it $arah's a classic case. I know many mental health professionals that recognized this about her right off the bat.

America fell in love with her for a minute but it was not long before they figured out that she was a bad machine. Blood libel sealed the deal. The whole country collectively shuddered at that gross display of narcissism.

Dumb bitch took my advice. On the latest Greta interview she repositioned the camera to pan down and not expose her turkey neck. She moved the
teleprompter below the camera to hide the reflection off her glasses but now she talks to the teleprompter without looking at the camera.
As advised, the lighting is also different.

Can't wait to see the scene where Sarah gets into it with Steve Schmidt wanting Steve to state that Todd is a registered independent and only inadvertently checked the box as Alaska Independent Party thinking it meant Independent. Steve told Sarah that it would be a blatant lie to say that since Todd indeed did register as AIP and not Independent a number of times each time the Palins changed addresses...

Well, I hope the twitter feeds pick this up and perhaps the blogs since liar Sarah states again in the latest Greta interview on March 2nd that Todd is an Indepedent. Even more revealing is the fact that Sarah states that Todd cant even vote in the primary in Alaska on super tues since the election is closed to anyone but registered republicans.

Well, I want to ask Todd why in the hell did he state he was endorsing Newt Gingrich if he can't even vote for him on Tues? If Todd truly was meaning to support Gingrich, he would have changed his registration. What a hypocrite!

Let's not forget that actors play characters as they are directed. Shooting a film is a collaborative enterprise. The characters, their lines, their behavior are determined by the material and the direction. This isn't just Julianne Moore deciding to "be" Sarah Palin, or making choices what the material includes. Moore is such a good actress that she achieves her goal - making her character seem like a real human being and believable in the context of the film.

Anyone who thinks she is making a statement about the real person, or who thinks that somehow her performance reveals "secrets" is naive. As are those who stupidly think Moore is part of a "hit job."

The story of Sarah Palin and the 2008 campaign is a fascinating one, and it's totally reasonable to assume that it will be recounted - and that there will be multiple versions from multiple points of view.

Sarah already got a chance to tell her story, which was a white-washed fantasy if ever there was one. She shouldn't complain when someone else's version of the story is out there.

By Saturday morning, Legal Zoom, Citrix Success, Heart and Body Extract, AutoZone, Quicken Loans, Sleep Train, Sleep Number and Oreck said they yanked ads from Limbaugh's show.

I watched Bill Mahar's show last night and he mentioned having already seen "Game Change". He had one of the authors of the book on his show.

Poor Ms. Moore, having to listen to the voice of Sarah Palin constantly to play her in the HBO movie! Cannot imagine. Hope she was paid well! Haha! They are already saying that she's probably going to be up for an award for her portrayal.

O/t and maybe this has been noted and I missed it, this is a creepy chuck alert, he is writing a book to be released Sept. 2012 called Our Sarah, Made in Alaska. Eeewww, made in Alaska written by her dad? Gross, it just makes me nauseated. Check out amazon, it is listed there. Make sure you have your barf bag near when you do.

But she was made in Idaho and delivered in Canada.

Poor Sarah all she has left are family and paid lackies, often one in the same.

I hope that Chuck will give a vivid description of being there when Trig popped out. Maybe he'll use Bristol's pictures, too. I wonder if he was there when the other kids popped out. I think that it will be quite a literary work. One chapter could be devoted to giving birth, followed by another chapter of Chuck killing enough animals to build a pile of bones.

I thought is was Chuck Jr., her brother not father that is writing the book.

Doesn't Chucky, Jr. have a 20 year old wife and a new baby with her. Wasn't he a high school teacher, hope she wasn't one of his former students, if so! I don' think he's any smarter than Sarah or Chucky, Sr., either way!

The most shocking thing in Game Change is Julianne Moore's nude scene!

I'm going to order her book. Think Shaley has done a service to all of us in putting this information forth. I keep reading and adding these books to my library about the Palins. There is so much information out there to show how they lie, lie, lie and are NOT the people/family they profess themselves to be.

They have given the State of Alaska a horrid reputation! My friends 'outside' ask what the hell were we all thinking of when we elected her! I can reply that I didn't mark my ballot for her (she was an awful debater w/Andrew Halcro!) and that she is going down in history as Alaska's worst 'quitter' governor.

She's nothing more than a farce! It's also been proven that Todd did most of her work when she was governor and he was never elected to the position! Everyone has ALWAYS carried Sarah - she has no clue what the word 'work' means!

"Boys Will Be Boys" would be a great slam-dunk to Palin and her hubby - AND drive sales up through the roof for Shailey - I'd definitely watch it.

Yes, I think Julianne Moore will be rewarded for her performance. Sarah Palin is an enigma. Her own odd enigma of her own making. The Sarah Palin we all know is insane and a complete fabrication of the Eliza Dolittle sort. But, unfortunately unlike Eliza Dolittle, Sarah didn’t have a teacher but depended upon her own weird idea as to what a “politician actually does.”

Sarah is one of very few people in the world who can light up a room just by walking into it.

    Yes, it's called aggravated arson.

Rumor has it that during filming of "Game Change" the makeup crew went through 15 55 gallon drums of skank. They had to slather it on Julianne Moore with trowels just to get that authentic paylump vibe.
