Steve Schmidt: “I think the notion of Sarah Palin being President of the United States is something that frightens me, frankly."

An absolutely MUST SEE discussion with Steve Schmidt about movie Game Change on Morning Joe today. (Make sure to watch until the end.)

Palin was always about the money. To get to that money, she was willing to lie, cheat and prostitute herself for the Tea Baggers and the Republican Party. Little did they know that she gave a voice to the racist, delusional, angry fringe members of the party who have now come out and taken over the GOP. The GOP is dead as a party. And if it wants to take it's party back, I think it knows as Schmidt does, that it has to expose Sarah Palin. They built Frankenstein, and now they must take her down.

If it is true that the media protected her, then it is also true that those on high (except Fox news) have given the ok to destroy her now. Good riddance. I just hope Babygate comes out and puts the final nail on her political coffin.

Interesting...I wonder if taking Rush and Glenn Beck down are also part of the plan. If they are to redefine and reinvent the party, they must take out all the hatemongerers...

In my opinion, Sarah Palin is treasonous. She thinks it's God plan for her to spread hate, racism, and destruction. What a waste of good Alaskan air.

This should be a warning to all of us that when a politician says they are God's Plan, it's time to pull the plug.

Game Change certainly showed us that.

Ed Schultz And Guest Blame Sarah Palin’s ‘Manifest Unintelligence’ For ‘Bigoted Attacks’ On Obama

With the Southern primaries coming up tomorrow in Alabama and Mississippi came the news from Public Policy Polling that a plurality of Republican voters there think President Obama is Muslim. This news greatly concerned Ed Schultz tonight, though in a larger national lens, and he asked guest Michael Eric Dyson whether the HBO film Game Change proved that Sarah Palin was the originator of much of the hate.

“Is Sarah Palin at the root of this issue, and the McCain campaign?” Schultz asked, noting that, in watching the film this weekend, he got the sense that “that’s where it started.” “She is one of the major facilitators of this,” Dyson replied, calling her a “woman of manifest unintelligence with no historical perspective” whose rise to fame came on the back of “ceaseless assaults on the President’s morality” that make him appear to many as “the ultimate other.”

He praised Sen. McCain, however, for taking a different route, but nonetheless did see a correlation between his choice of Palin for running mate and the smearing. Asked whether “the bigoted attacks will get worse,” Dyson was optimistic, instead argument that rather than more hate, there would be a rise of “Nixon’s silent majority” of decent people who would “register their most eloquent comments” at the voting booth. While the optimism that not all Americans buy into the “othering” rhetoric that comes from some on the right, this segment lands wide of the mark for myriad reasons. For one, the impulses and ugly undertones to some of the language used on the right is not at all new, nor is it a unique invention of Sarah Palin’s.

Sarah Palin didn’t invent the “Southern Strategy;” with the exception of language that, liberally interpreted, could have served to attracted fringe voters, she wasn’t out there calling President Obama as Muslim or, as Newt Gingrich was actually doing a “Kenyan anti-colonialist.” Unlike Donald Trump, Sarah Palin’s “people in Hawaii” never claimed to find “incredible things.” Palin is worthy of many of the complaints against her and often makes comments or uses language that plays into a narrative of her as a, to use Dyson’s language, manifestly unintelligent woman, but to hoist upon her shoulders the burden of all Republican bigotry lets too many guiltier people get off the hook.

$arah Palin didn’t invent the “Southern Strategy,” but she is apart of it. That bitch has helped moved this country backwards. She made "open" racism popular, again.

You make very good points. The Southern Strategy began after the civil rights and voting rights acts were passed in the mid-60s. By '68, the Silent Majority had congealed. Spiro Agnew, George Wallace, the slow but steady transformation of the South to the racist Republicans -- Sarah Palin was just the latest iteration of this hatefulness, this time in heels.

    4. Anonymous6:48 PM

The "hate" issue without a doubt stated with Palin. Starting with the campaign, and continuing even to today, whenever someone said or did something Palin didn't like she would perceive it as a snub or a scorn against her. This is particularly the case when they said something that was true and she couldn't think of an appropriate response. In a case such as with Couric, she would always accuse that person as being a "hater" or it was because of "hate". The same type of behavior is frequently exhibited at C4P as though they are copying her behavior. I almost think they use the word "hate" in a religious connotation as a substitute of the word "evil".

The hate was always there. Palin just slapped lipstick on it and trotted it out in a sexy package in fuck me pumps. She put pretty to the ugliness and made it a-ok to be a racist, bigoted, moron. Having the usual fat, old, white farts out there didn't give the hate enough juice and fuel to become mainstream GOP. Having a "sexy" spokesperson did. She didn't start it, she gave it legs, ass, and makeup.

And you're right, Gryph. That last minute and a half is quite a bombshell.

I can think of no other time in American history that the leader of a Presidential campaign has called a member of his ticket unfit to lead within three years of an election. Huge, huge, huge. And Sarah will never, never, never get it.

Just as telling is the question from Andrea Mitchell towards the end of the clip. She asked if Palin was qualified to be President today, since Sarah wants to play a part in a brokered convention.

Schmidt said that Palin is no more qualified today than she was four years ago. She had the chance over the last four years to learn something, and she chose not to. We can discuss whether Sarah can learn and chooses not to or if she is lazy.

I think that there is a third choice.I think that Sarah is unable to learn. She has been covering up her learning disabilities for years. We have someone in our family who could be her twin. He has ADDH and cannot learn in traditional education. He cannot read a book and process the information. But, he has incredible people skills and he can charm people into thinking that he is smarter than he really is. He is a master of telling people what they want to hear and what makes them feel good. He has not held a job in years.

In the movie, Sarah wrote everything down on note cards as if she was hearing those history lessons for the firs time. (That does not speak well of her Alaska or university education). Schmidt, in the movie, noted that Palin wrote things down but couldn't remember anything. We saw Palin exit the lecture about Paul Revere and she managed to mix up that simple story. Sarah cannot learn. She make have been able to fool people in Alaska and tell them what they wanted to hear, but she couldn't fool Charlie Gibson, Katie Couric, Nicole Wallace, Steve Schmidt or anyone else who had to interact with her at a serious level. What is sad is that Sarah will not recognize her problem. Anything that happened to her was the fault of other people.

Since she's incapable of learning like you said, I wonder if she was intimidated by Couric and Gibson. I'm wondering if at anytime during her interview with those two she made that face that Gryphen was referring to.

On the other hand, she can memorize (although it's obvious she doesn't understand, nor care to). Her debate with Sen. Biden was a prime example. When she was thrown a question to which she hadn't memorized an answer, she chose to "redirect" (or as the film said, "pivot" and said she'd rather talk about such and so. It drove me crazy that Gwen Ifill let her get away with it.

Reagan was a good memorizer too. Not too sure how much he, too, actually understood what he was saying.....

This made me recall that in October 2008, there was a well-attended rally held in downtown Anchorage (Alaskans for Truth) that protested Sarah's lack of accountability. One of the handmade posters read "Cram, baby, cram!" So apt.

      Delete
    4. I need to say that NOT ALL OF US PEOPLE IN ALASKA were fooled by her! I did not vote for her, because I heard her speak with both Tony Knowles and John Halcro at an event. All I could think was "this woman is dumber than a box of rocks." When I listened to all of them, I felt John Halcro was the most qualified because he knew the issues and he understood them and he suggested solutions. My sense of Tony Knowles--and I really like Tony Knowles--was that he only talked about his past record, but didn't offer anything of what he would do now. He had been governor twice and I don't think he was interested to be governor again. He was qualified and so was John Halcro, but it was very clear to me that Sarah Palin was not at all qualified to be governor of Alaska. As a result, I did not vote for her.

For that same reason, I was very disappointed that she accepted the nomination for vice president. If she wasn't qualified to be governor, she absolutely was not qualified to be vice president or the possibility of being president if it became necessary. From my perspective and my own personal experience in life as I am a senior citizen now, she is extremely immature and its that immaturity that that is her downfall. She is too lazy to do the work necessary to become qualified. A sure sign of immaturity and lack of self-discipline. She's not willing to pay her dues and work for it.

When she returned to Alaska after McCain lost the campaign, I thought I would give her the benefit of the doubt such as if she returned to Alaska, put her nose to grind stone and became the best damn governor she could, and read and became educated on the national and international issues, I could have forgave her. But she didn't! She continues to this day to be self-centered, egotistical, and remains extremely immature and not qualified to be dog catcher.

She was popular with the men who voted her into governor, but they didn't use their heads; they used their appendage that absolutely has no intelligence!

I truly believe more people will come forward who have national credibility.

Her latest FB rant demonstrates she is a sick person. She would love people to believe the POTUS has not discussed nor noticed major problems. She is a destructive force and plain crazy bitch. She is escalating. She is delusional she will be asked to run for POTUS.

    7. Why did it take him so long to see it, with his political operative experience and all? And Nicolle Wallace, crying because she couldn't vote for the ticket. Um-hmm.

Filming Julianne Moore from arty angles is great, but it just begins to hint at Palin's black hole.

I cottoned onto reality as Palin delivered her nasty RNC speech. Confirmation of the crap content was easy to come by.

During the VP debate with Biden, Palin's failure to provide answers was only part of the story. Her bland lack of affect when Biden emotionally noted the death of his wife and child, and serious injury of another child, made it evident--she was an emotional cipher, not a real person. There was more lacking there than intelligence.

Bloggers everywhere have offered opinions about narcissistic personality disorder, bipolar disorder and/or sexual abuse, etc. I wonder about an organic affliction, seizure disorder NOS, if the descriptions of eyes rolling upward and a catatonic state really occurred, but that's not my field.

I'm sincerely sorry if this miserable woman has not received appropriate medical intervention. But I'm everlastingly glad that she will never be anything more than a Fox news pimple on the ass of politics.

Sarah is not smart, but she is an excellent mimic. She can catch on to whatever another person wants to get from her in mere seconds. She is able to fit her responses to what the other person wants, hence is able to capture people off guard. My sister can do this and unless you know her, she can buffalo anyone by her personality. 14. This questions needs to be asked until Palin answers it.

She doesn't, because she can't. She didn't physically birth the lovely boy known as Trig Palin.

Almost everyone knows the Wild Ride--as told by Sarah Palin in her own words--is absolute BS.

What do you do when your water breaks? What do you do if you have strong contractions--not just Braxton-Hicks--late in your pregnancy?

Especially, if you are carrying a special needs child and you are deep into a high-risk pregnancy because of your age, a grand-multipara, with previous spontaneous abortions?

Do you bypass world-class medical facilities with NICUs 5 minutes away (like Baylor U) and fly 4 hours to Seattle, where you bypass several state-of-the-art hospitals with NICUs, sit calmly during a two-hour lay-over, fly to Anchorage and ignore the big hospital there, and drive to Mat-Su Regional, a tiny hospital that does not even allow twin births, where you have your premature Downs baby delivered by a family practice physician?

Later, realizing the Mat-Su boo-boo has been discovered, you begin to give speeches about Trig being born in Anchorage. Of course, all mothers forget where their children have been born.

Has there ever been a politician in recent history--even with the likes of George Wallace and his wife, Lyndon LaRouche, Ross Perot--who has tried to pull off a more preposterous scam?

Yes, maybe, but they've all been more plausible than this stupid bitch. And damn her for being a woman, with the harm she has done to our brand and her cursedly cheap attempt to capitalize on journalists' fear of playing the "birth card."

So more power to Jayken. We need to keep demanding the birth certificate. Take a deep honest breath and ask why Palin has not provided it.

While I respect Schmidt for being so honest and accepting his responsibility for what has happened, according to his interviews today, HE DID VOTE FOR HER although he states he "voted for McCain" and then goes on to laud McCain.

Ok, that part is fine except VOTING FOR MCCAIN IS VOTING THAT IF MC CAIN DIES, THIS PERSON HE KNOWS AND HAS ALREADY REGRETTED BRINGING TO THE TABLE WOULD BE PRESIDENT.

I think Schmidt NOW has a fuller understanding of how disasterous that would have been BUT EVEN NOW he hides behind "voting for McCain" instead of being up front about the fact that as much as he knew, he still cast a vote that COULD have placed Palin as president.

He could have just NOT voted !

Still, he should be respected for confronting himself on his error. NOT an easy thing to do and something Palin has no concept of.

While I also think Palin may have real learning disabilities, let us not forget that she SIMPLY DOES NOT THINK KNOWING "STUFF" IS IMPORTANT ! Goes back to her debate with Knowles and Halcro. Her GOAL is the ultimate narcissistic supply i.e. attention and being the MOST IMPORTANT PERSON IN THE WORLD and she simply feels SOOOO ENTITLED to that position because of her narcissism that she does not have to "do" anything to get there.

It is hard to learn anything if you inherently have no interest it the subject. Palin is simply NOT interested in ANYTHING except herself.

Hard to wrap your mind around unless you have literally EXPERIENCED a real maliginant narcissist. Kinda like buddhism/taoism. No matter how much you intellectually understand what you read, until you have literally experienced satori, you simply to not know--it must be experienced for full realization.

Sarah Palin is a very mentally unstable person no matter what other disabilities she may have or which her instability may resemble.

My honey and I watched it last night and he really doesn't give much thought to Palin. His response was hilarious as he kept shouting out loud to tv "shit, she's a fucking IDIOT!!!"

Now he understands why I was so adamant she be defeated in 2008.

It's easy to blame Wallace/Schmidt now, but they were incredibly busy. And I think Bill Kristol (National Review) had planted the seed of Palin as VP in 2007. So McCain was being reckless, and this is what he bequeathed to the country.

Nicole Wallace said pretty much the same thing on Rachel's show tonight. Wallace admits that every now and then they politicians have to make a bold choice, but she regretted their failure to vet Palin. Nicole knows that Sarah was unfit to be President of the United States. Schmidt points out that since Sarah hasn't learned anything in the last four years, she is still unqualified.

Who is more believable? Wallace and Schmidt speak in complete sentences and convey complete thoughts. Even when Sarah has the questions and answers in advance, she still sounds frenzied when she appears on Fox. When Sarah says that our first African American president wants to go back to a period before the Civil War, when he would be a slave, Sarah continues to prove Steve Schmidt's ocmment that Sarah cannot learn anything.

The bottom line for me is that our country needs serious campaign and election reforms.

Unstable candidates, Diebold voting fraud and unlimited money from SuperPacs is just an unacceptable way to choose our leaders.

Schmidt chose his words carefully, but I'm glad to see him say in so many words "the end does not justify the means".

He could have been much more damning, for example Palin is a chronic and shameless liar, and is emotionally unstable. But he pulled his punches. I think Frank Bailey pulled his punches too. If they were to tell the WHOLE TRUTH people would say "why did you enable her insanity"?

I think SP very cleverly makes sure all her aids get their hands dirty, so they are ashamed of the part they played in propping her up, and she has something she could shame or blackmail them with.

Really, it may be a decade or two before the kids grow up and can step away from her entanglements and the people now living feel the hand of mortality on their shoulder and have nothing to lose by telling all.

For one thing, they aren't psychiatrists nor have they had Palin seen by a psychiatrist -- it's not for them to say she's emotionally unstable or has a disorder.

For another thing, if they're already getting hacked, getting death threats or are suffering blowback from Palinbots, it might get a lot worse if they tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth (Babygate, for instance).

Schmidt comes very close to coming totally clean. However, I disagree with his false equivalency between Palin and John Edwards. He claims that both were unprepared for office.

    Bullshit.

Edwards was prepared to be president. He had the experience, he had the skill, he had the ability, he had the knowledge, but he was also a goddamned liar and a crook. Palin was simply too fucking stupid and emotionally immature. Edwards didn’t lack ability, he lacked judgement. Palin lacks judgement AND temperament, maturity, and knowledge. Edwards could have handled the presidency. Palin could not, under ANY circumstances. EVER. Both would have been impeached, but for very different reasons.

    BIG difference.

However, I think Schmidt’s admonition to the GOP to exclude Palin from ANY decision making input at all is sound advice. He pulled no punches in assessing her intellectual sloth and indifference at her stunningly expansive ignorance once it was exposed. I think that far too many people - Kristol, Schmidt, Wallace, Davis, McCain, et al. - simply assumed that since she was a popular governor that there was nothing they needed to concern themselves with in her background. They all saw what they wanted to see. NOBODY grilled her for even a nanosecond before she was picked. A cursory two minute conversation on world affairs or U.S. History would have scuttled her from the start.

Palin should serve as an object lesson in how NOT to pick mayors, governors, and presidential candidates. ANY presidential candidate should assume that their pick is a potential Palin and go about doing the research to prove that he/she is not a vindictive, petty, lying imbecile.

BINGO!!!!! Just watched the first minute or two of this, and he said it - "a vetting process based on secrecy, that was compartmentalized".

He is trying to tell us that there were people and/or forces at work pushing this nomination through, and that his right hand did not know what this mysterious, and probably far more powerful, left hand, was doing!!!!

He is too afraid to actually come out and imply or even claim that others were truly responsible for the Sarah Palin pick! In this I can't judge him, for these background people are likely extremely scary.

I firmly believe that in spite of the Dick Cheney comment about her being a bad choice, the NeoCon/Big Oil alliance was likely the responsible group. They identified her long before 2008.

I bet some of the pressure she felt during the campaign came from her contacts within that realm. (Why in hell did this woman have 2 Blackberries again, and why, besides her concerns about her ethics problems and her personal Trig problems, was she so obsessed with protecting her email? They even put that in the Game Change script, as we all know.)

I think her inexplicable, unbelievable confidence came from more than her quasi-religious beliefs. I think it's because someone told her long ago they hoped to put her in that position. I think they probably were naive and thought she'd know that she would need to prepare herself, however - how wrongly they judged her priorities and intelligence!

Secrecy, compartmentalized...he's trying to tell us the whole truth.

What now? This movie has come and gone. Will it change anything? Will SP still maintain her political clout?

Was surprised that she wasn't on Fox News tonight. She may have been too humiliated to make an appearance, or Sean and Greta were too embarrassed for her.

Last week, she was lambasting the Dem party for not 'vetting' President Obama. It's total hypocrisy for her to claim that. Not only was she not intelligent and incurious, and did not know or care that she had too many limitations. the story of Game Change shows people how deceptive she was. Her saying she was exonerated from the Troopergate inquiry, not telling them about Bristol's pregnancy, Todd's AIP history. The campaign were constantly trying to plug the dike holes that she 'forgot' to tell them about up front.

She had no integrity and her character is out in the open now. Wonder how her Fox friends are going to handle this hot potato.

OMG - check out Palin's latest FB post. Someone really needs to take this idiot down now!!!

Let’s Talk About the Real Issues, Mr. President
by Sarah Palin on Monday, March 12, 2012 at 6:41pm ·

The far Left continues to believe American voters are not smart enough to grasp the diversionary tactics it employs to distract us from the issues our President just doesn’t want to talk about – issues that affect us all every day and must be addressed.

Exhibit A in these diversionary tactics is an absurd new attack ad President Obama has released taking my comments out of context. I’m not running for any office, but I’m more than happy to accept the dubious honor of being Barack Obama’s “enemy of the week” if that includes the opportunity to debate him on the issues Americans are actually concerned about. (Remember when I said you don’t need a title to make a difference?)

Just off the top of my head, a few of these concerning issues include: a debt crisis that has us hurdling towards a Greek-style collapse, entitlement programs going bankrupt, a credit downgrade for the first time in our history, a government takeover of the health care industry that makes care more expensive and puts a rationing panel of faceless bureaucrats between you and your doctor (aka a “death panel”), $4 and $5 gas at the pump exacerbated by an anti-drilling agenda that rejects good paying energy sector jobs and makes us more dependent on dangerous foreign regimes, a war in Afghanistan that seems unfocused and unending, a global presidential apology tour that’s made us look feeble and ridiculous, a housing market in the tank, the longest streak of high unemployment since World War II, private-sector job creators and industry strangled by burdensome regulations and an out-of-control Obama EPA, an attack on the Constitutional protection of religious liberty, an attack on private industry in right-to-work states, crony capitalism run amok in an administration in bed with their favored cronies to the detriment of genuine free market capitalism, green energy pay-to-play kickbacks to Obama campaign donors, and a Justice Department still stonewalling on a bungled operation that armed violent Mexican drug lords and led to the deaths of hundreds of innocent people.

I’m sure I missed a few things, but the list is just for starters. Along with millions of others, I’m willing and free to discuss these issues with the President anywhere, anytime; and I’m sure any of the four patriots currently running for the GOP nomination would also welcome the opportunity to talk about the problems everyday Americans face due to the abject failure of our current administration’s politics. The President will dismiss all of these problems by saying, “Well, uh, ‘change isn’t easy.’” But considering that candidate Obama promised to turn back the waters and heal the planet, the American people had at least a reasonable expectation that, at the bare minimum, he wouldn’t bankrupt our country.

This latest ad is quite odd, but also quite telling. It shows that our President sure seems fearful of discussing the economy, energy prices, and all the other problems people need addressed. And intended or not, now that his ad opens up the discussion of Barack Obama’s radical past associations and the radical philosophy that shaped his ideas about his promised “fundamental transformation” of our country, I welcome the media to join ordinary Americans in finally vetting Barack Obama. The media failed to do so in 2008 to the detriment of us all. Maybe this time around they can do their job.

They might start by noting the President’s heavily edited attack ad. Breitbart’s Ben Shapiro helps them out in this piece. Please read it all.

"but I’m more than happy to accept the dubious honor of being Barack Obama’s “enemy of the week” if that includes the opportunity to debate him on the issues Americans are actually concerned about..."

REAL NARACISSISM AT WORK: Remember she literally CANNOT ( as opposed to WILL NOT) see reality, and look at how much ego, arrogance and CALL FOR ATTENTION SHE GIVES HERSELF with her statement intimating that she is important enough TO President Obama that 1) he even thinks of her, much less considers her an "enemy" and 2) that she is an important enough enemy that he would want/need to debate her ! !

Obama will as usually not address her remarks. This is the ONLY way to handle narcissistic mental instability as ANY response/reaction is a no win situation.

This long winded FB comment (and I have not read past the first paragraph or two yet) tells me she is really breaking down now. With a narcissist, the closer to being forced to see reality, the more threatened they feel, the harder, more desparately they push back and the more delusional their thinking becomes.

And the more potentially violent they become.

When they feel they are losing any ability to control "you" (or the situation) the higher their anxiety the more they LITERALLY feel their life--physical, not just reputation--is threatened and when you feel your life is threatened physically you have the right to defend your life physically.

Narcissist --hate to keep using the word, but it is important--LITERALLY feel they dont exist without their audience (good or bad attention) because their entire sense of self is oriented outside of themselves--they have no "center" except what they see in how the outside world reacts to them.

Better to have bad attention than none because at least that way they know they exist, even if unhappily.

Someone will end up bleeding --or worse--as Palin deteriorates.

In the meantime, her rhetoric is becoming closer and closer to legally defined treason.

I think those who protect our President are watching closely--they just know enough not to "telegraph their message."

As damaging as Palin has been and is, as with all underlying infections, they must become worse, be seen for what they are and "owned" before they can be healed. Palin's incarnation into this life, as I feel Hitler's was, is a necessary "evil" so that it can be seen for what it is and eradicated.

WHEN EVIL EXHAUSTS ITSELF, WHAT IS RIGHT PREVAILS. One of those old buddhist/taoist insights :)

OK I have now read her entire FB rant.

Just about everything she says here is classic projection.

      Unbeliveable.

Just substitute the name "Palin" wherever she mentions "Obama" or implies him and it reads clear as a bell.

My mother was a narcissist and I learned "at her knee" but sometimes, 68 years later, it is still hard--even for me---to wrap my head around what goes on in a narcissists' mind and how they hide from reality.

Their actions and words are intentional and they are fully responsible for the, but at the same time the source of their actions and words --their view of the world--is so distorted that, as dangers and therefore frightening as they are, as much as they must be stopped, it is hard to "hate" them or even have malevolent feelings toward them. I only want them restrained and contained and restricted from spreading their evilness--and it is "evilness." I do not use that word lightly.

You cannot oppose evil by hating it. You can only transcend it and that means knowing it in it's depth for what it is and how if functions.

I would "pull the lever" on her myself but only with the thought of "God have mercy for her soul" (whatever you consider God to be or not be i.e. whatever it is that is immanent in existence.)

The computer scrubbing which took place before journalists - and who knows, maybe even the vetting team itself - got up to AK after the surprise choice, was done by people with very "special" skills... They said the vetting was supposedly done in 2 weeks instead of 8, or something like that.

I don't think it's too much to speculate that a thorough investigation of this story might one day expose a tale far more like a spy thriller than anything else. I wonder if Schmidt and the film director and producers suspect as much, too. Meaning, Schmidt himself was used and duped.

In the Game Change script (I guess it's in the book too, didn't read it, myself) they talk about only a few people knowing about the Sarah pick before they told Nicole Wallace. This is an example of the secrecy Schmidt is referencing. I think it was done not to preserve some political wow factor pertaining to the announcement, but to buy time so they could be sure all their ducks were in a row and no rogue info was left to be discovered by any snooping journalists.

And what about that Rick Davis, check out his background.

This book and film are just the tip of the iceberg.

  36. these people still pull their punches.
these insiders know 10 times as much about palins mental instability and her lies and bizarre life then they will ever say over the airwaves.
just to get this far not only is a first but it is with out question a pushing of the envelope towards more scrutiny of who these candidates are who want Power over the rest of us.

Schmidt clearly states how scary palin is and everyone there obviously knowing it too just agrees.
no one came to her defense.

one other point about how palin helped the ticket.
its true she created lots of noise and the dynamics are very different now then in the past because you have fox trumpeting her walkout under controlled theatrics at the republican convention.
add in none stop hatE talk radio and the propaganda machine for a time creates the impression something big has arrived in town.

the reality is after the American people saw for themselves who anD what palin was they disapproved of her to the point where her appearances had to be scripted and controlled less she continue making a complete fool of herself trying to answer a question as simple as "what newspapers do you read".

so the myth was created and now comes full circle after 3 years with the movie Game Change demonstrating what anyone paying attention lonG age realized; palin after you get to know her leaves you wondering if she is "mentally unstable".

I think Schmidt and Wallace were played by some GOP powers-that-be. They thought they were involved in helping an elder statesman, one who they felt was very worthy, make a "bold" move in order to be elected. They believed he should be President.

What they got was a mess, dumped in their laps and for which they have had to take much of the blame.

Hidden players are able to stay hidden, and these two are left thinking they have to explain themselves. On some level they do, but the very idea of considering this woman in the first place did not originate with them.

Schmidt's pangs of conscience and admissions of "vetting in secrecy" DURING a campaign, to win at risking catastrophe to the country are admirable, but from reading the book and watching the movie, they DID have a window of opportunity to "Slap McCain in the face and scream "Snap out of it!" ala Cher in moonlight.
As catastrophic as the pick was, the secrecy was much worse.

(Remember when I said you don’t need a title to make a difference?)"

If President Obama was making an enemy of the week list, he would not start with Sarah Palin. There are a couple of dictators who are seeking nuclear power and they don't debate. Arranging a high level diplomatic meeting would be the more desirable way to go. Then, there are nations who are kind of sort of not really our friends, but we have to maintain good relations with them. They also have nuclear capabilities, harbor some of our really dangerous enemies and we take a very careful line in talking to them. The leadership in the Republican Party promises President Obama one thing, and like Lucy with the Football, full a fast one.

Sarah, you are so far down the list that it wouldn't be worth President Obama's time to even send you a post card. I saw the movie; you barely made it through 90 minutes with O'Bidden. She really is a backwards redneck racist hick who gets off on inciting violence and hatred. Pure white hilbilly trash.

McCain and his family are traitors. Their duty should be to the US not to John's legacy.

And where are the others--Mark Salter, Rick Davis, Mark Wallace, etc.
Don't they care enough about the soul of this country?? I guess they are just trying to protect their careers which is despicable. I have to give Schmidt and Nicole Wallace credit for admitting their mistakes. Yes they should have done it sooner but at least they have the integrity to do it now unlike the McCains and others.

Sarah is a cancer in this country. I pray that more people have the decency to come forward.

She is like a rabid dog that needs to be put down, and no i do not mean violence.

A prostitution / sex trafficking scandal might just help.

Hey Sarah instead of focusing on the President shouldn't you be keeping an eye on Todd the Pimp of Wasilla?

  69. So, confronted with then candidate Obama, knowing he was a superior candidate who McCain couldn't compete with, the campaign knew they "needed something bold" to win, some big, dramatic move. If Palin truly wasn't vetted, then it was an unforgivable gamble on the only pretty face who was anti-abortion. If she was vetted, if they knew she was ignorant, demanding, jealous, dishonest, immoral and had psychological problems, then they figured a win for McCain would justify their choice. The end would justify the means.

After the loss, after McCain's concession speech, it was easy for McCain's people to shut Palin up by pulling the plug on the mic and turning off the lights. Too bad we don't have a way to do that.

All of them went home, Schmidt and Wallace wrestled with their consciences, at least had the courage to step forward and speak up and their lives went on. Not life for everyone though - some people died as a result of Sarah Palin's voice. People lost loved ones and others were maimed because of Sarah Palin's voice. Sarah doesn't care - if more lives were lost tomorrow because of her vile rhetoric, she wouldn't care.

The Republican party owes those victims and the victims' families for what Sarah did. The Republican party owes the rest of us for the damage that's still being done to our country by that woman and the copy-cats who are trying to out-do her. The GOP needs to step up, clean up their mess and carry out the trash they left us with.

How much do you want to bet that whomever gets the Republican nomination will ignore the lesson in Game Change and pick a Right Wing religious hater as a running mate. . .you know, to "balance" the ticket.

Steve Schmidt has completely redeemed himself as far as I am concerned. He has been the most candid of the bunch of them by far.

I think she's having flashbacks after watching Game Change (and we all know she watched it).

It took her right back, delusions and all.

Sarah honey, shh now, it's getting embarrassing.

Nothing you do or say this week is going to alter what people saw in that movie.
