Well that's nice to know.

Of course it is hard to feel comfort that you are preferred by a being that you don't believe to exist, but it is still a nice thought.

Thank you for the kind words Pastor Tate.

More, more, we want more signs like this!

You can't run your life on hate and survive like the teabagging, rightwing christianists do.

I wonder if Pastor Tate has received any threats from hateful Christians since that sign went up.

Great comment on sign @church. Wasn't it Gandi that said, "like your jesus, dislike your Christians?" or something like that? I've felt that way more then once.

I "Liked" this on one of my friend's Facebook post's yesterday. Glad it's getting on everyone's radar.

We may say some snarky and defensive things on here, but we all really have everyone's best interests at heart. Of course, the fundies claim the same thing, but funny, their prayer, worship and spending habits aren't diminished by our efforts to keep public life free of legislated, arbitrary morals.

And sadly, the 'kind Christian' does not seem to exist in these United States..just the hateful, mean, lying ones...and they are running for POTUS!

    1. Actually, they do. They just need to stand up and be counted. They've let the mean, hateful ones take the stage without a fight.

I grew up in Minnesota, where people can be understated to the point of being frustrating.

Example: please, say what you mean already!

On the other hand, I look also at another side of it. I recall when my grandmother (my mother's mother) died. I thought she deserved to go to heaven and I hope she did go to some beautiful place. At least she did so in my heart and when I think of my past. I'm grateful to her.

She was someone who led by quiet example. Compared to some other Minnesotans who can be obnoxious and toxic with their religion. Wrapped up in the 'merican flag. One way street of them telling everyone else how they should live, yet they don't live by their own rules, laws, etc.

Anyway, my point is: I love the church sign.

Also, if it does exist, I hope my grandmother doesn't have Sarah or Michele and so many other USA tea taliban self-involved busy bodies and haters in heaven with her.

You may not believe in God, but, as the saying goes, God believes in you.

Just as the current wise men of economics, who have created our economic mess, are not the men from whom to learn that discipline, so too are many wise men of Christianity not the men from whom to learn about his wisdom.

I'm pretty sure Pastor Tate's message was not to atheists, but rather, to the hateful Christians among us.

Even though I am an atheist now, I did attend a Methodist church in my teens. Of all the churches I have attended since I NEVER heard the Methodists talk like any of the christian churches today. I am sure there are plenty of churches giving this guy hell now. You know, because he isn't really a christian & doesn't know the bible (been there, saw that).

It is too bad more churches like this don't get together & stand up to the current christian bullies.

    Maybe someday......

It's one of those, "church sign generators," where you make your own signs, for kicks and grins. If you look close you can see that the letters don't match the squares they are supposed to be printed on.

It's a fraud, pure and simple.

Look on the churches website you will find another photo depicting this same message. Real deal.

You really must learn to resist these foolish impulses you get. You're promoting kristianity's evil when you should always be working to destroy it. Is it because the kristian that was instilled in you as a child is still too strong that you can't let it go?

I know exactly where that is. They're a very tolerant group of people in a very tolerant city (Portland, OR). This sign is for real, and it's sad that some folks won't see it that way.

  14. Good find Gryph, just retweeted it. Yeah, as someone else said in the comments it probably wasn't meant for us atheists but rather for the hateful folk who call themselves christians.

Love the sentiment, but I doubt it'll convert any atheists. At least it seems to at least accept Atheists and Hateful Christians as people.
