Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey

Everybody needs one of these sometime. But what if that sometime never came?
Watching brought a huge smile. The end brought tears. Watched 2nd time and teared all the way through knowing how sad.
Volunteering with special needs kids -- this doesn't surprise me to know how many stare, comment meanly, bully, ignore, etc. Sadly, it's their everyday life.
Beautiful!! Peace, All. Sending big hugs from Maui! And one for your sweet, lovely daughter, too ... As a couple of wise souls once said, "And in the end, the love you take, is equal to the love you make." Bless you, Mr. G., for sharing.
Jesus , I cried when I saw this. Not necessarily for the ending, but for the very fact that it takes such a contrivance to get us to visit and feel that which we already are: human.
You know what moves me most about this ad is the woman who comes to grab the "bear" from behind at the 0:59 mark, as if to somehow, at a very minimum, fulfill her need to absorb its warmth in whatever way she can. This moment, I submit, truly speaks to our need as humans to grasp and retain the best in others-human, real, or not-which we believe can fulfill us.
Oh thank you Gryphen! Something so fundamental and simple as a hug is the answer for peace throughout the world. Why can't we all just do it? ... love each other, be kind to each other, support each other? The way that video portrays the hug-a-bear, with people first staring and then gladly following the first 'brave' responder, is so simple but poignant, it is an instant tear-jerker. I hope you post more of these simple inspiring videos. You've done a few of them lately. Thanks from New Zealand (expat American) Thanks
Wonderful! Reminds me of Yogi Bear..I loved that show! My church hugs...everyone. We have a couple o handicapped adults coming, and they get the same hugs as everyone else, from everyone.
Powerful vignette. I'm going to church this morning, Gryphen. Something you disdain. But, I want to tell you that mine is a church of joy, not judgement. Why do I bring this up? Because, today, as usual, I will make contact with several members whom I know desperately need HUGS and attention from other human beings. The church makes it possible for them to be nurtured. I wouldn't even know these folks if it weren't for the church. The church gives them a little of the kind of comfort that comes from a loving family. Just one reason why I attend church.
How many missed the real message in the video. You may think it was a hug, but it wasn't... It was about disabled persons wanting to be treated the same. Watch the ending again. The man under the suit.
I guess you have a better eye that I. I didn't see a handicap person until YOU pointed it out. Then I went back and saw the guy had a limp. Most of us didn't even notice. I got that if you dress up like a Cartoon bear, you will get hugs! But if you walk around in the world as yourself...you are basically unapproachable. Putting on a cloak of "Anonymity" makes people more approachable. Just my .02
Gryphen----you are a beautiful soul! Hugs to you from Colorado!
ReplyDeleteLovely - brought a tear or two to my eyes.
ReplyDeleteSometimes it seems it really takes so little - then why is it so damn hard?
Everybody needs hugs....(8) to all.
ReplyDeleteThat was beautiful! Tears and faith in humanity at my house! Thank you Gryph!
ReplyDeletePS My religion is humanity.

ReplyDeleteWonderful moment...absolutely wonderful.
Something as simple as a hug can connect people and brighten their day. This reminds me of our President.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder!
Hugs to everyone!

Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI forwarded that clip to my children.
It is the second clip from you that I have forwarded. The first was Debbie Wasserman Schultz reading Gabby´s resignation letter.
All of my daughter´s dormitory mates want to meet me.
Again, Jessie, I thank you.

ReplyDeleteI take the point but without the costume, the barrier that exists between all strangers and even acquaintances would still remain.
DeleteWe all want out "space" and most of use respect other's space.
The costume and spread arm sent a message that was commonly understood.

ReplyDeleteMade my day.
