This whole "Ask Uncle Gryphen" idea has really brought the homophobes out of the shadows today. Ooh, lucky me!
I actually deal with them quite often, and reject their asinine comments on a daily basis, but today they were especially aggressive.
Here is a little video to help them to understand why they feel the need to call others fags, or equate homosexuality with pedophilia.
There now do you understand?
Just so you know, EVERY TIME you attack somebody for being gay, whether real or simply imagined in your precious pointy head, we all know that it is a cry for help.
And we want to help, really we do. But first you have to admit your problem, because that is the first step toward acceptance of who you are.
(You can read more about the study by clicking here.)
Very excellent.
ReplyDeleteAnyone who would attack you with a homophobic rant would be someone like Sarah Palin- someone who would look at your self assured, independent, forward thinking, compassionate, educated daughter- and then compare them to her own offspring. What's the opposite of forward thinking, compassionate, educated? Bristol. Willow. Track.
ReplyDeleteGod weeps every time someone demeans or debases a gay person in "His Name". When it's all said and done and we will each have to look at the landscape of our own hearts, it's the anti-gay "church crowd" which will grieve Hesus the most.
Obviously I meant "Jesus", not Hesus. Damn dirty iPad screen!
ReplyDeletePlease take note, Robert Stacy McCain.
ReplyDeleteNever thought of that but yes, I wouldn't put anything past RSM - he stoops pretty low.
DeleteLoved your response, Gryphen.
ReplyDeleteOh my it must be Willow and Bristol again... Hi Hoe's... I'm sorry, I meant "Hi girls..."
ReplyDeleteGood one Gryph.
ReplyDeleteMy guess is that it must be Brillow's little immature friends.
very interesting video, thank you. really hatred in any form does not accomplish anything good or useful.
ReplyDeleteFrom the department of "NO DUH!" I have known this since I was a little kid in the 50s just because of a close family member and his attitude. I didn't even know anything about homosexuality but because this family member couldn't stop talking about it(in his own homophobic way) I knew that the thing he was revolted by was what he was.
ReplyDeleteI see. It's easy to try to play the victim. Just like Sarah once again. Why can't you address the real question of your censoring posts that ask questions you are afraid to answer.
ReplyDeleteYOU ARE THE DEFINITION OF A COWARD!!
Now herein lies the problem of using the Anonymous button when posting here.
DeleteI honestly have no idea which rejected comments have so upset this person.
Was it the comments demanding that I admit that I am gay?
The ones telling me that they are bashing me on their website and demanding I talk about it here?
Or the comments asking me if I am sleeping with Sadie? (I'm not.)
Quite a quandary really.
Gryphen - you are just too kind to this asshole. Anonymous@Apr 9, 2012 05:52 PM _There's not much censoring here, you moron. To the above jerk - You are the coward! Go make your disrespectful, tantrumming, demands over at C4P or ADN - NONE of your comments would see the light of day. Quite frankly, there are so many of these Hate Bot comments running roughshod here at IM, it's hard to tolerate them. Thank Gryphen for letting you vent your hate as much as he does.
DeleteI agree, Marleycat.
DeleteThe problem is that the "Shift" and "enter" tabs are too close in proximity. They spend all this time typing their kneejerk reaction, hit caps then move on. They come back and are pissed that their comment got "gasp" censored!
We've all seen the truth of what these studies show, e.g., Ted Haggard, Mark Foley, the Idaho legislator with the "wide stance" whose name escapes me, some of the C Street crowd, and so on.
ReplyDeleteThey try to purge their self-loathing by abusing their positions of power to meddle in the loves of other people. What a painful way to live, and what immense suffering they cause.
OT-Deadline.com reported 4 days ago that Discovery will have a new show called "Mark Burnett's Alaska" about colorful characters of AK. It seems odd that he would name it that since he produced "Sarah Palin's Alaska." A bit of snark in that title, maybe?
ReplyDeleteIt is remarkable in 2012 that there are still some people who, likely due to so much internal pain, think it is insulting to suggest that a person is sexually oriented toward a person of the same gender. But when that person is as self-assured as Gryph, that arrow has no sting. And the pedophilia charge is but a desperate grasp at straws. Palin herself has tried that charge, either directly or with innuendo and it has always resulted in most thinking people wishing she would just show a therapist where the bad man touched her on a doll, so she can begin healing from the hurt she clearly harbors.
ReplyDeleteWhat I love is that the next generation and the next after that is accepting of it all. My grandkids don't think twice about same sex couples because they know many of them. It is no different to them than any other two people who love each other. What they do question as they are getting older is why there are laws against them marrying. It seems very middle ages to them.

Me thinks that the Repubs already know all about "the bad man who touched" Baldy...and his name rhymes with Smuck Smeath.
Unfortunately Baldy is no longer capable of being healed from the hurts...instead she has made it her mission to hurt as many people as she can...which includes her family. You almost feel sorry for her....ALMOST.
05:52 PM - Yikes, I'll not have the koolaid they've been drinking.
ReplyDeleteGryphen posted your comment. Your comment again is, what? Gryphen censors comments.
Heh heh, ha ha, yeah, please go and drink more self-victim koolaid. Then waaaaaah on about your delusional wrong righteousness.
Gryphen does this, Gryphen does that, boo hoo.
5:52 p.m., what a lot of bull droppings. Plus Mr. Bull Droppings, Gryphen answered the question.
Now begone before a house falls on you.
I went through this with my mother, when she finally heard about homosexuality (no one had been inclined to share). www.VermillionRoadPress.com
ReplyDeleteShe almost had a stroke.
I, on the other hand, thought about it briefly, and then went about reading a library book. There is a real difference in people regarding this; even among those who could be considered naïve (as we were). Gay experts need to realize that there are people like me and people like my mother; I’m a breeze to reach; she would be nearly impossible, but she’s dead. Maybe dying out is the answer.
That’s harsh, but I’m used to harsh things. I hope this can be torn apart for answers.
Olivia, You are absolutely right about the next generation. It's no big deal! I remember when my college daughter brought home a male friend in the middle of the night and invited him to sleep in the spare bed in her room. I pointed out that this was not a good thing for her little brother to see. "But Mom" she protested "John is gay!" Well all right then.
ReplyDeleteI guess my biggest problem was all the sweet, intelligent thoughtful guys I had a crush on in my youth turned out to be gay.
In all my years on this earth, I have NEVER had a gay person try to "convert" me to their lifestyle. How many religious nuts, including Marcus Bachmann think that they should "pray away the gay"? What difference should it make to them what a person's orientation is? Live and let live is the way we should live. Live your own life the way you want to and let others live theirs in their own way. Why should ANYONE be made to feel guilty or wrong for the way they were born?
ReplyDeleteIt's ironic. Religious people accuse gays of trying to "recruit" and "impose their agenda" on anyone.
DeleteBut it is all the religious people who are out trying to recruit and impose their agenda.
I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing...but "Crazies4Palin" have added on a new staff member at the asylum. He's openly gay and he wrote an article for a New York magazine. The title of the article at "Crazies"...."C4P's Elephant in the Room"...there is only 57 comments and most seem slightly bewildered on what to say! LOL!!
ReplyDeleteAs part of my strict policy of not subjecting my IM friends to the toxic fumes that emit from over there...I will not be linking to their website...you can thank me by contributing to my newly established SUPERPAC.....GinaMPAC is the name...of course! HeHe!
I haven't been to the see-o-pee for a long time. This seems to be worth it.
DeleteThis rings of truth. I wonder if it applies to someone who mounts a campaign of hate against another, or builds a career on attacking someone else.
ReplyDeleteYeah like that religis guy- what's his name ahh its Pervo or something like that?
DeleteYou've described Sarah Palin to a tee. Never have I seen a nastier speech from a national candidate than her sneering hate-fest at the GOP convention.
DeleteShe attacks at any perceived slight and she holds a grudge like nobody's business.
And she proudly proclaimed herself to be an attack dog.
yup maybe palin is really a lib
DeleteWow, 6:01, what a comeback. Too bad you're a drooling Palin sycophant so your comment means absolutely nothing.
Delete@ 8:13 what makes you think that? for a free thinker you shure paint with broad strokes
DeleteLet's hear it for the University of Rochester! I spent a summer program there many years ago. It is a top notch school that uses books, facts, and even teaches real science - so it is the antithesis to teabaggery.
ReplyDeleteSo, methinks the homophobes doth protest too much.
This doesn't bother me as much as the quiet ones.
ReplyDeleteI graduated HS in 1976, an english teacher invited a man named Michaelangelo Signorelli. Apparently the principal at this Catholic School didn't do his homework until the day before. At the time, Mr Signorelli was the publisher of a gay magazine called "The Advocate" and the topic was "Acceptance of Homosexuals in Academia, Society, and Public Discourse".
The school went in full lock down, gates and doors were locked, the media got involved etc. A letter of apology was sent to all the parents, full of hateful terms and slang.
One parent owned a large catering hall and also happened to be a parent of a gay child. On the saturday that followed, 2800 of 3000 students were invited to the lecture MrSignorelli graciously accepted an invitation to.
I've exposed my children to "Equality Forum" (part of gay pride events) from when they were little, as have many people, so love can conquer hate in less than one generation.
The oddest part was the original speech hardly mentioned the LGBT terminology, and could have applied to races of people, cultures of people and people who spoke languages other than "American".
Had they not made such a big deal over it, I bet there would have been two hundred or fewer people in the auditorium.
Thanks for this clip.
What a creative way to deal with homophobic prejudice - great story, Anita!
DeleteThis theory might explain Santorum fixation with homosexuality, bestiality, pedophilia, and pornography. He's warring with himself on all these issues.
