I actually told myself not to watch this.
I said "Gryphen you have watched enough of this lunatic, take a break. Isn't there one of those shows where people pretend to fall down or drive their golf carts into a lake to win money that you can watch?'
But somehow as I was channel surfing I accidentally landed on Fox News. Before I could hit the button and save myself I saw this.
WTF? I know right?
I actually saw some of the show before they introduced Glenn Beck's old chalkboard and brought out one of the suitcases from "Deal or No Deal" to introduce an unworkable solution to high gas prices. (Which by the way Bolling's guest, and ex-"Die Hard" villain, CFTC Chairman Bart Chilton rejected as unfair to the average traders.)
In the earlier part Bolling and Palin, doing their best Frank Luntz impersonations, quizzed an audience packed to the brim with representatives from giant energy lobbyists like the American Petroleum Institute and the Koch brother's Americans for Prosperity. There was nothing even remotely subtle in the fact that the show was a giant advertisement for oil exploration and an attack on any green policy which would negatively impact the fossil fuel industry. Things got so animated at one point I thought they might bring out an effigy of Obama to burn right there in the studio.
Palin seemed completely ill at ease (Even though it was clear that she had a teleprompter feeding her her "off the cuff" responses), and for all the world looked like an old used up game show hostess on her last low budget television gig before she ends up turning tricks for pocket change and food stamps.
She NEVER seemed to really understand the conversation, despite her much trumpeted "energy expert" credentials, and spent much of the program trying to make sure the camera only caught her "good side." (Not to Palin: Sorry sweetie, NONE of them are "good sides" anymore.)
All in all I could not figure out if I should laugh, cry, or cup my hands over my ears to keep my brain cells from dying of stupidity. (That last option might have been the best.)
Clearly Palin is working her virtually non existent ass off to impress the Fox News folks that she can headline a show. Whether they take the bait or not is anybody's guess (after all the bar IS pretty low), but if this were an audition for most any other network, and if she were not once a Republican VP candidate, there is NO WAY we would be seeing her on our televisions ever again.

...What the Republicans are about to find out is that Barack Obama is not John Kerry. Obama is not going to let the lies of the Republican candidate go unchallenged. DeleteI find it so funny that Fox TV, in 2012, thinks using a 1910 era chalkboard makes their presentation look professional. No schools even have chalkboards any more--they use white boards. And any middleschooler with a computer could whip up a PowerPoint presentation on energy for his social studies class that was classier than this. TV hosts spend the majority of their time worrying about how they look, how they sound, how efficient and professional they look, how they successfully read the teleprompter, which leaves a small amount of time making any problem-solving discussions.
If Sarah really wanted to put her 'energy expertise' to it's full potential, she would begin by steering her ambitions towards a career in economics, where she'd have to give up her life in the spotlight. Becoming an oil economy expert would have her sitting in a stuffy old office keeping her head in the books, charts, statistics, numbers, all that boring stuff.
She's a joke, trying to pretend she's worth listening to on the ins and outs of what controls the world's oil prices. She knows no more than the average reader who reads up on this stuff. So sad that kids spend 4,5,6 years in university studying for this and they can't get their foot in the door.

DeleteI am glad I did not donate or invest time, money or anything more than a little time. I think I would want a lawsuit. Not saying there is one but she did leave some people in a bad way. I know of a similar blog, mother who uses charities and her blog. She is educated and has held down good jobs in her past. She tells a hard luck story and she is struggling and better now. It was all believeable until I met an old friend of hers. She has many businesses and collects some kinds of welfare for all the sickness in the family. That blog is still up and collecting donations. I talked with the DA because in one of her scams my address got involved (she uses others ID info). She doesn't know she and her internet life are being investigated. It is complex. The police don't just go in and shut her up. The blog opened a door and is getting the ball rolling for the local police. I am not sure if that operation goes out of state. Things are different in Alaska but most places you do not want to mess with people on the internet and open yourself to being the focus of an investigation. Not if you aren't ready to move around and change your name.
I wrote this upstream: I don't care if she shuts down her blog. It is the way she is doing it. The last comments I read were sounding more like Pbots. Shailey has done more for women, strong yadda, yadda. A little too krusty for me. Someone asked Malia Litman a question and she answered and that is good enough?

Sarah knows that she is faking and bluffing. She could get away with it in Wasilla, and she managed to fool the people in Alaska until they saw her on the national stage. Sarah has that dreaded feeling of being found out and all the bravado in the world can't cover it.
DeleteWe have someone in our family who is exactly like Sarah, unable to learn, afraid of being found out and covering it up. He deals with it by drinking and taking drugs. I have heard the rumors that Sarah took medication for ADDH, the same as my family member, accounting for her tics, lip licking and unusual affects. She is not relaxed and confident; she pretends to be confident but it is an act and a sham. Inside, she is churning, afraid that the teleprompter will freeze, that she won't be able to focus and read an answer or that someone will throw in a question that she isn't prepared for. The reason that we are so uncomfortable watching Sarah is because she is that uncomfortable, too. For a so-called journalism or communication major, she cannot speak in simple, complete sentences. She's a fake.
Sarah has a really unattractive habit of pressing/pursing her lips together which makes her looks like a nasty old gramma. She should relax her mouth when she's not using it, but she never does and it just adds to her obvious physical decline.

DeleteWe subsidize Corn (a food product) to make ethanol, a fuel. While Brazil uses a byproduct of sugar cane.
Ethanol supposedly makes gasoline burn faster, but it's added because it's better for the environment.
Food not only went up, but the size and weights have gone down. We take the peanut oil out of processed peanut butter, and add palm oil and other cheaper oils to make it "spreadable", and we add government subsidized "High sucrose corn syrup" (again, corn is a food product AND a subsidized fuel source) to everything instead of using sugar.
And we wonder why our health costs are so high.
Our local cable tv access channel has smarter people on its shows, livelier discussions, and, frankly, better looking people, with more to say.

I've considered Palin as ENTERTAINMENT for years now - only now it's NOT entertainment - it's embarrassing and painful torture. Death by a thousand sound bites of Sarah Palin and Fox News. Good thing there's an 'off' button.
After reading all of the comments, there seem to be a lot of people who thought that Sarah was uncomfortable and unprepared. It reminds me of how people also react to Romney. He is not comfortable talking to people, and his positions change so often that it is no wonder that someone on his campaign staff admitted that the view expressed by Romney in public are not the views that he holds in private. They are both fakes. People see how uncomfortable Romney is pretending to be just one of the regular fellows, while sounding like a jerk. (He claimed to be an avid hunter, which morphed into hunting twice and shooting varmints.)

Instead, Sarah developed the knack of rattling words together with some cute winks, you betcha's, a short skirt and a tight blouse. Ever the beauty pageant contestant, she knows exactly where the camera is, she is always smiling (except when she talks). All of this covers up the fact that Sarah is completely unprepared and has been getting by on charm, influence, power and bullying people.
Fox tested Sarah with an hour long program of recorded segments that Sarah introduced to an audience. She never seemed to do another one of those shows. Being the failed VP candidate from an election 4 years ago is no qualification for having a TV show. Jennifer Granholm was a two term governor of Michigan, a state with far more people than Alaska. Jennifer is smart, studies the issues and she looks good, too. Sarah can't fake her way through a program when there is real talent out there. Sarah will never be Rachel Maddow, Jennifer Granholm or even one of those ditsy blonds on Fox. Maybe she needs higher high heels and a shorter skirt.

OT but Shailey's latest comments show she still doesn't understand why people who have been helping to promote her and spread the word about her cause are confused about her shutting down the blog. We "lack compassion," apparently and she doesn't "deserve" the questions. She also says that she has an opportunity to pursue a dream and that she needs to do it now before she gets "too old," which leads me to believe someone is dangling a carrot in front of her of her becoming a performer, on air personality, or model, which are the only things that would require her being under 40 to get started. But is she so out of touch that she really thinks she is a candidate for those types of careers? Especially given her looks and her having two disabled kids which limit the time she has available to work?

During a speech at the University of North Carolina, Ailes said that "Sarah Palin had no chance to be president." The quote came from New York Magazine editor Gabriel Sherman's Twitter feed. Sherman, who was at the event, is writing a book about Ailes and the rise of Fox News. Ailes was at the university addressing a group of journalism students.
Palin responded to Ailes' remarks in an exclusive interview with Breitbart.com. Palin called the remarks "interesting."
She said, "I wonder if he is aware that the same thing was said about me when I ran for city council, mayor, and eventually governor." She added
