Should Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowsi be the new spokesperson to address women's issues in the Republican party? Rachel Maddow certainly thinks so.

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

See? I wasn't the ONLY one who thought that Murkowski did a good job of stating what is wrong with the Republican party's stance on women's issues.

Please! Not women's issues! These are FAMILY issues, and couple's issues. Until more men see these are issues which impact their lives, it will be an uphill struggle.

Murkowski's a decoy, shiny object, lookie over here...
The Republicans have gone too far in their war on women and the Republican election committee knows it.

Fool me once - Murkowski voted for the Blunt Amendment. That flies in the face of supporting women. Trust her again...sure...as I watch her vote a straight obstructionist Republican Party line.

No-one in the GOP can be a better spokesperson for women than President Obama - and now I have reached that topic - it seems like the woman who lives by the dead lake has an opponent to decide who is really truly jealous of the President

Romney says "Years of flying around on Air Force One, surrounded by an adoring staff of true believers telling you that you’re great and you’re doing a great job ... "

Presidents have flown in AF1 for more years than I can remember - but if you're a black President it obviously goes to your head. No wonder its "anyone but Romney"

Lisa for VP would be the only way Romney could possibly get women back, but it would mean a total reversal of his twisted philosophy. Not that we havn't seen that before. I wonder if Lisa is trying to get something organized with the moderate Repubs of the past? She's Shakin' things up alright

    1. A failed VP attempt would put Lisa in the same group as Sarah Palin - I think she is politically, much smarter than that.

Holly, you are so right in that statement. Glad to see Lisa take a stand, but she needs to take the message to the senate chamber and remember it the next time she votes!

Murkowski hasn't spoke up for women in Alaska who do not get equal protection from the Anchorage Police Dept!

Those officers who swore to uphold the law calls the media and make false comments at the request of Sarah Palin's lawyer regarding Pimp Daddy Todd Palin!

When will Lisa address the allegations made by Shailey Tripp in her book Boys Will Be Boys which documents the hell Todd Palin put her through as her pimp?

Does anyone know if there are other Alaskan pimps out there? Anyone older than Todd, been doing it longer? Prostitution has been around up there forever. Where's the starting place?

    2. I get the impression from Shailey's blog that Lisa is after some bigger fish...re Stevens case.

I a have a secret desire that "Anonymous" would hack Anchorage Police emails revealing rampant corruption. I'm not holding my breath.

    1. Because she is. As I said on a previous thread, she's just trying to rehab her image, like Sandra O'Connor did after the Bush v Gore obscenity. Cowardly opportunists.

And both of them can still go to Hell!

Lisa Murkowski has a long way to go. She has no credibility until she walks the walk, not just talks the talk. And since when is she a Republican? She's an Independent now.

  11. Don't you think maybe the state legislators are the ones who should deal with this Palin/law enforcement corruption? Seems like Lisa has her hands full in a bigger arena. Just my opinion, but I'd like her to use her time and energy for nationwide problems, not so much in-state. We have just one Lisa and one Mark in Washington...and multitude of Alaska political types who need to get on this.

While I really feel that Lisa has a good heart and all this is a little too late. SHe voted for the Blunt amendment and now she expects Alaska women to have her back....BS.

Don't put too much praise on a one trick pony. Let's see how Murkowski will use her influence on energy, the environment, jobs, stand your ground, banking regulation, health care, etc. She is Frank's daughter. I support her stand on one women's issues, lets see how she handles herself on the big picture that has a effect on the middle to lower class who are suffering. Not just women, but families. I'm holding my breath.

Rachel is spot on about the douchebag t-bagger walker. He quietly signed a whole pile of legislation that either repeals former women's rights or just prevents them. I am so glad this koch funded ALEC agenda promoting fuckwad is being recalled here in WI.

    1. The recall hasn't happened yet. There are measures afoot in Wisconsin to prevent voter registration or previously registered voters from casting their vote, the removal of that Waukesha county clerk notwithstanding.

And there seem to be a considerable number of teabagger voters who support that POS Walker.

The recall vote might be too close to call, like a lot of these GOP primaries.

I don't like her for backing her cronies in so much back scratching, but we have to encourage her in this. Send her letters of encouragement. She is going to get some mean from her church and she needs as much support as we can give her. If you are upset about something, say it in another letter.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the Republican party wants people like Joe Miller and Wes Keller. They don't want Senators like Lisa.

That's not entirely clear. The TEABAGGERS want Miller and Keller. The GOP old guard wants the teabaggers to turn out come election time, but they don't really want them at the table. They want them to take their pitchforks and torches and go home once the election is over. I think that many upper echelon Republicans would like nothing better than for the teabaggers to dry up and blow away. In GOP leadership circles, Palin, Bachmann, Miller, O'Donnell, Angle, et al., are about as popular as a prolapsed hemorrhoid with a side order of genital warts.

Gryphen, I am pleased that you are showing some interest in tracking Murkowski's behaviors. It will add new avenues for us to comment on. It is fun snarking on the Palins. In some ways Sarah and Lisa are connected. They have mutual history. Having influence on Lisa would benefit all of us now that the cancer of the Palins is on the wane. I hope Lisa will start following your blog. If it were not for a Murkowski, there would be no Palin.

She was elected Governor of our state because Alaskan's felt "anybody but Murkowski". How did that work out?

For quite sometime I have been wondering just how batshit crazy the GOP would get before some of the sane ones began breaking ranks. Now we know. The WAR ON WOMEN bullshit is just plain suicidal for the GOP. Seriously, how stupid are these goobers if they think this is a winning issue? Do they think that women are just going to take off their shoes, go meekly back into the kitchen and prepare to get knocked up?

My guess is that they will next begin a campaign to reinstitute slavery and expect that the black folks will willingly report to their new assigned plantations.

    Republicans are such stupid fucks.

It's a good thing that this woman senator is stepping up to the plate for women's rights. If she sat silent on what has gone on over the last several months she would be done, and I mean done! I just hope that she is sincere on her words. She seems to studder alot, seeming and trying to get her words 'politically' correct. I'm not convinced she is totally sincere. Or maybe she just doesn't know how to convey her words very well as a senator and a female and being a republican. After all, it's not easy living in a republican chair these days.

I think that Lisa Murkowski is being put out there by the Republican leadership to "prove" that there's no GOP "war on women." I don't believe anything she says; she votes with her Republican male colleagues.
