Stephen Colbert uses humor to rip into David Koch, and the idea of SuperPACs, at Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People gala.

This is what Stephen Colbert had to say with Davd Koch sitting right in front of him in the audience:

Of course, all of us should be honored to be listed on the TIME 100 alongside the two men who will be slugging it out in the fall: President Obama, and the man who would defeat him, David Koch.

Give it up everybody. David Koch.

Little known fact -- David, nice to see you again, sir.

Little known fact, David's brother Charles Koch is actually even more influential. Charles pledged $40 million to defeat President Obama, David only $20 million. That's kind of cheap, Dave.

Sure, he's all for buying the elections, but when the bill for democracy comes up, Dave's always in the men's room. I'm sorry, I must have left Wisconsin in my other coat.

I was particularly excited to meet David Koch earlier tonight because I have a Super PAC, Colbert Super PAC, and I am -- thank you, thank you -- and I am happy to announce Mr. Koch has pledged $5 million to my Super PAC. And the great thing is, thanks to federal election law, there's no way for you to ever know whether that's a joke.

By the way, if David Koch likes his waiter tonight, he will be your next congressman.

Damn this guy has BALLS!

You know someday many years in the future when young people are learning who the heroes were of these last few decades, I certainly hope that Stephen Colbert is listed as among the MOST courageous, and informative, and humorous men of his time. Because he is ALL of those things, and more!

The man is certainly MY hero.

Yes. superpacs are stupid. Politicians are elected to a JOB, a normal job like any other. Yes, WE elect them, but why should WE have to give them money to help them get a job? Esp since WE fund them if they win the election. It's ricockculous. It was stupid that Obama's pac rules were nonexistent, it's stupid that ANYONE can create a pac to raise money for basically ANYTHING.

It's the new welfare. Yes, most people are trying to change something for the better, but still stupid.

And not a Palin on the list (although her cursed ones, Jeremy and Tebow are there.)
Agreed, Colbert is a national treasure.
I'm waiting for the speeches at the Wite House dinner..CSPAN has the whole thing live, although they spent a ton of camera time following Sanctimonous and 2 of his daughters around (I swear the brunette looks older than his wife!)

The older of the two daughters, to whom I think you are referring, I most readily agree! When I first saw her I thought she could have been his wife. The way she continuously looks at him with such complete adoration, hanging on his every word, actually to me is kind of creepy. I thought she was behaving and looking too wifey. Made me uncomfortable.

    He's my hero, too, Gryphen.

Jon Stewart can be hit and miss, though I love his show, but Colbert knocks it out of the ballpark time and time again.

He is much more the activist in educating people, much more the risk taker, and truth teller. May The Colbert Show be on the air for decades because we need his courageous voice and his sharp intellect spearing through the crapola curtain that the Kochs and others would draw to hide the truth.

And I still wish he would run for Congress or the Senate. Heck, he should run for President. 2016. Or maybe Hillary's VP? Then on to eight more years as Prez.

Can you imagine? Four more for Obama, 8 for Hillary, and then 8 for Colbert. The Republicans will be extinct by then. Thank the Gods.

I would have loved to have seen Koch's face during Colbert's slam. I doubt if many people have slammed the Koch's out of fear for what they may do in return. The fact they were both humiliated nationally was great, but I wonder what they may try to do, if any, in their efforts to ruin Colbert.

Whoa, baby, Colbert is my kind of Catholic! He is brave. He is kindhearted, and tough where he needs to be. He represents the very best of humanity and activism.

    Love him!

    Colbert is the man!

Standing up to the Koch's, even using his satire and wit, takes cajones.

  20. Here is how stupid the GOP really is. Stephen was invited to be the guest "roaster" when Bush was President and Stephen made his first big hit. The president's people actually thought he was a right-winger not just playing one on TV. I bet the genius who made that decision is not serving burgers at a McDonald's somewhere in south Texas.

  21. Just think it was the GOP who paved the way for his stardom. They invited him to be the guest "roaster" when Bush was president thinking he was a right-winger instead of a comedian playing one.

A million high fives to Colbert. He has guts. Love him.

  23. Wow. He said all that right in front of David Koch? He's lucky if he doesn't wake up with a dead horse's head in his bed. Or his turtle, Terrance.

I so want to win the sterling silver Terrance the Turtle antique bell and have Stephen come to my school. But I fear I won't be able to afford the plane fair to find the final prize. I'm going to go ahead and create my own SuperPac though. I've always wanted a SuperPac.
