Mitt Romney's "business experience" in a nutshell.

See image larger here.
I keep hearing Romney says that he can turn this economy around and create jobs for Americans significantly faster than President Obama. But that is nothing but political rhetoric, and not backed up by a single piece of evidence.

In fact the converse is likely true. That Mitt Romney would do a far WORSE job at creating employment opportunities than President Obama.

Really the only way to measure his potential impact is to look at his time as Governor of Massachusetts, and statistics show that during his term in office the state was 47th out of 50 in job growth.

Here's more:

The Republican contender was the governor of Massachusetts from January 2003 to January 2007. And during that time, according to the U.S. Labor Department, the state ranked 47th in the entire country in jobs growth. Fourth from last.

The only ones that did worse? Ohio, Michigan and Louisiana. In other words, two rustbelt states and another that lost its biggest city to a hurricane.

The Massachusetts jobs growth over that period, a pitiful 0.9%, badly lagged other high-skill, high-wage, knowledge economy states like New York (2.7%), California (4.7%) and North Carolina (7.6%).

The national average: More than 5%.

I know that Republicans hate facts because they tend to have a liberal bias, but there you have it.

Based on actual data, Mitt Romney has NO FUCKING IDEA how to create more jobs in this country.

Just thought everybody should know that.

We all know that when repubs. talk about "liberal bias"it means "some SOB on the other side is telling the truth" "Lamestream media" equals the same conclusion. Plastic man Romney is as fake as anyone who every ran for the gop. He is a "self made man" just as W was a successful "awl", man Daddy's money took them far.

"He’s like Reagan, if Reagan were about to lose California by 20%.

If you’re wondering what kind of governor Mitt Romney was, just look at the polls in Massachusetts, the only place he has ever held elected office. The President leads Romney by an average of 18.5%. These are the voters who know Mitt best.

Steve Benen examined Mitt’s unpopular tenure as governor yesterday and offered this gem:

Thomas Whalen, a Boston University political science professor, put it this way: “To know Mitt Romney is to dislike him. That is the moral of the story.” "

For your next Q&A session can you please instruct your students to not ask the same questions week after week?

Maybe you can give them a list of new questions to choose from.

Prediction: the day after Rmoney is inaugurated he will make the following statement and never ever mention jobs again no matter how high unemployment rises. "The purpose of business is to make profits so the Mittens Administrator will focus on ensuring that business can be as profitable as possible. And if business chooses to spend their profits on hiring people that's up to them. Now stop pestering me about jobs or I'll have you deported."

Why is it that Republicans seem to compare running the government to running business in the private sector?

The government is NOT operated in the same manner and citizens are ignorant and/or not paying attention to the facts!

Romney would be the worst person in the world to have leading the United States of America. President Obama IS well regarded across the world even though the Repubs say the opposite.

Pay attention to their lies folks and vote in November for President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden! They are a hell of a team and have proven to work hard for us.

"the day after Romney is nomninated" LMAO Good one, Beldar!

Mitt doesn't have a clue that without the Government Sector jobs, businesses would all fail. Who enforces laws? Builds and maintains infrastructure? Collects Taxes? Enforces Building Codes? Cuts the checks? etc etc etc?

Thank you. Glad to see this information is getting out.

OT - did you see Lawrence O'Donnell's brilliant presentation piece on Paul Ryan last night? Paul has been forced to renounce his love for all things Ayn Rand by the Catholic church. So cool.

Paul has always mandated that everyone on his staff read all her work. He said she was the reason he got into politics. The church looked at his budget which reflects her teachings and went wild - said it was against the teachings of Christ and all about selfishness.

So cool. Romney has embraced the Ryan budget so I guess it is clear now - as if we had not noticed that he, too, embraces selfishness and the form of capitalism that says "fu@k you" to everyone but himself and the one percent who are like him.

I am so glad people are finally doing deeper research into the smoke and mirrors that comprise Romney and the GOP.

While it's all well and good Ryan is (now) denouncing Rand's philosophy, I find it extremely disturbing the Catholic Church has such power in a secular nation. If they can push this type of thing, they should be TAXED since they are meddling in the governing of the country.

ha ha, so it's called "equine influence" these days? I call it horseshit from a clueless one percenter snob with two degrees from Harvard.

You're right, though he is a one trick pony, but the trick changes according to his audience.

Not a problem, I found it easy to follow what you were saying, and can't agree more. It will be interesting to watch those who were so focused on his religion as "not Christian enough" find their footing while backing him as their candidate.

Mitt sure is a stinker of a candidate. I will enjoy the next few months, when all of my annoying, rabid wingnut friends are forced to hold their noses and pretend to like Meh, the boring "liberal" they've been trashing all along.
Hoping for a Democratic landslide (h/t DKey) this November!

1.) You all have probably heard the joke:

A Liberal, a Conservative and an Independent walk into a bar. The bartender looks up and says: "What'll you have, Mitt?"

2.) Have you heard Part II of the joke?

Mitt then buys the bar, claims bankruptcy and fires everybody.

I'm sure we'll hear her crowing about keeping that mean old government out of our lives. Hey, Sarah, if you really cared about that, what about the vaginal probes?

I've really noticed tthat these so called religious politicans and religious leaders who want to tell everyone else how to live and what to do, lie lie lie. Trith has always been important to me! i want someone to tell me what I'm up against. These idots can't tell the truth and just lie about everything no matter how big or little. For those so called believers- God hates liars =it's one of the ten commandments. Thou shalt not lie. How come they eant the bible teaching on certain things but not this They are not God's people.

    1. Technically, I think you're referring to "though shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor", which is lying with the intent to make someone look bad, or to save yourself from being found guilty, like, oh, for instance, implying that your mayoral rival is not a real Christian, and only living with his significant other, not married to her, or saying that a next-door neighbor is peeking into your daughter's bedroom, or saying that the media's comments about your crosshairs on Rep. Giffords et al amounted to a "blood libel" akin to the lies told about Jewish people through the ages.

Sarah is EXCELLENT at bearing false witness. God must be so proud of her!

It is amazing to me that the media plays along w/this - in indicating that President Obama shouldn't be allowed to tout his accomplishments 'in spite of' the asshole Republicans in the House of Congress!

Mitt Romney is a proven liar and appears to be getting away with it. (Even though they have him on video saying the exact opposite of his current bullshit!) He is a Mormon and the men in the Mormon Cult are proven liars....in the work place...having affairs on their wives, etc.

I sincerely want religion out of our governments (all levels) and workplaces. Enough is enough!!!! Look at the ones pushing their religion on us - they have been proven not to be ethical and certainly don't act as the christians they profess to be. Most don't even attend weekly church services if you fact check them!

Get the Republicans out of office this next election cycle (on all levels of government - national, state and local!) and move the Dems in folks. THEY are the only ones that are going to save us - both economically and in kindness in thought word and deed.

Watch President Obama - he is the finest example of keeping things on an even keel even when responding to the lies the Repubs put out there! He is kind, steady and always on point. I can hardly wait to vote for him AGAIN!

Watching Romney take credit for things President Obama accomplished is beyond me! The guy is such a fucking, blatant liar of the worst kind!

You might want to look up the profile that either the NY Times or the Washington Post did a couple of months or so ago about Romney's Governorship. Two things really stuck out to me: that he took an elevator that everyone was using and laid claim to it, so that no one else could use it anymore - it was behind security truncheons after that. By the way, he had piddling little to do with his state legislators, wouldn't socialize with them, even if that meant just walking down the hall to say hi. AND that he destroyed his records when he left office so that no one could see what he was doing as Governor. That says a hell of a lot about him: superior and secretive. We don't want this corporate oligarch anywhere near the White House.
We need to send him and all those like him running off with their entitled tails tucked between their legs. This is supposed to be a democracy, right?

I'm with you, Gryphen. The man reminds me of "Max Headroom", he's boxed himself in, and the etch a sketch reset button doesn't exist.

Today, he derided our Commander in Chief for "politicizing" the death of Osama Bin Laden, then showed up at a firehouse with three plain pizza's and Rudy Giuliani - politicizing the death of Bin Laden.

On the news radio station 1010 WINS, budget cuts at the firehouse that he visited has 18 firefighters compared to 24 pre-911. There are eight slices per pizza times three, so there was exactly one slice of pizza per firefighter, hand delivered by Mitt and Rudy. WTF?

And Our Commander in Chief made a surprise visit to Afghanistan, in person, to work out an exit strategy, not perfect, but a brilliant move. Laying this on the table early on is sheer brilliance, it's success will be on Congresses ability to fund the pullout. A lot needs to be ironed out, but I was so proud to see him thanking the troops, and effectively neutralizing what Romney managed to bungle up on his own.

Wow, now that is the epitome of the Republicans' generosity. I'm surprised that R'Money did not tell the fiefighters to go get the pizza from their parents.
