Now for something completely different.

Last week as I was internet surfing I came upon this rather extraordinary young man with an incredible voice singing covers on You Tube.

I had bookmarked the link as was planning to post it at some point, even though it is not usually the kind of thing that I post here, but then somehow I closed the link and forgot the boy's name.

This morning I woke up to the Today Show and lo and behold there was the gifted teenager right there in front of me. Apparently even though I never got around to posting his video, it blew up anyhow and has now received over two million hits on You Tube.

The eighteen year old simply goes by the name Noah, but there is nothing simple about his talent. He has his own You Tube channel and you can hear his work for yourself by clicking here.

Below is perhaps my favorite of his many covers.  Take a couple of minutes and see if this does not impress you as much as it has just about everybody else who has listened to this young man.

    This is great.

Damn, I wish I could play guitar. And sing.

    Thanks for posting.

  4. You gotta hear his "Ain't No Sunshine"......

  5. Make that "Ain't No Sunshine/Harder to Breathe"...

It's so nice to hear something that is not massively overproduced....just a guitar and a soulful voice.

What a great unique voice this young lad has. The girl too. How could this kid NOT get famous with his natural talent. Thank you for showing us this as I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Gryphen have you seen/heard of Maddi Jane? She is equally a wonder at 12 years old here singing "Price Tag" with a guitarist. My son showed me this yesterday and I was blown away. If you liked Norah you'll probably enjoy this as well. Such talented young people they are. Such hope!

  8. Loved both voices. Her dramatics were a little over the top, but they're both pretty talented kids.

Thanks for sharing. I do not watch the morning 'news' shows so I would have missed it.

    Very talented young people.

Wonderful. Thanks Gryphen. Though I have cable (via my housemates, I only use it for Internet), I don't watch TV.

I appreciate your post, then I'm less culturally and socially out-of-it.

    Thanks.

Also, thank gawd, no frigging autotune in their song, his voice, her voice. I hate autotune in music, for voices, for songs.

Unless it's used for comedy, Gregory Brothers and others.

Dueling covers: This version of "Somebody That I Used to Know" has had 106 million views.

A band of five -- called Walk off the Earth -- plays the same guitar. It's amazing.

My teenage daughter and I went to see Selena Gomez in concert and her opening act was Christina Grimmie. She was very friendly when we met her. She was better in concert singing her own songs but she is still very talented. Thanks for sharing.

The video I saw on a show this morning was Noah singing LMFAO's 'Sexy & I Know it' which is the one with millions of hits on youtube.

My problem with showing this video on TV and all the appearances and promotions of LMFAO doing the song on shows and award shows, on radio -- It was only a few weeks ago that a 6 year old boy in was suspended from school for 3 days for quoting the words "I'm sexy and I know it" of the song. He was suspended from school for sexual harassment. WTF?

When the media whether radio, TV etc. plays, and re-plays the song, then a 6 yr old who truly has no understanding of what it truly means -- and he's suspended.

Those same TV shows and radio stations reported the story but never questioned it or their actions for playing it when it's because of their actions of embedding it in his brain.

O/T... Brancy is now making up fake death threats so she can get more victim attention on her fake blog.

What a sick girl. I feel sorry for what her mother has turned her into. Can't she just get a job and live a normal life like the rest of us?

Even his whistling is superb. Whistling, like singing, is not something everyone can do.

Good on him, glad he's discovered, alas without a title. But I'm sure it'll change. For the girl also too.

What great videos to see w/ my morning coffee!

Oh, and anon 9:41.... WOW! Simon’s under the breath snarky comment when they walk out was a predictor to me that they would be great..

Those Brits always seem to have a totally unexpected moment on that show.

Wow...not at all what I expected to hear from such a young man. That's the voice of an old soul who's lived life and experienced much.

He's got such a unique sound that he won't get lost among all the typical singers hoping to get discovered.

Want to see how powerful this arrangement is?

Listen to both Christina Grimme's solo version and to the original. I like them both, but Noah's arrangement and presentation blows both of the others away.

I love them BOTH! The kids are alright!

You Tube can be a catalyst, it got them on tv.

I hope that something good happens for them, like a contract and tour.
