The Obama campaign's response to lies and attack ads is both appropriate and about damn time!

Clearly the Obama campaign has decided to take these attempts to misrepresent the President's record, and lie to the American people, head on and shove them right back down the Romney campaigns throat.

Which by the way is exactly how I would respond to this bullshit if I were running the Obama campaign.

These SuperPACs are going to throw truckloads of money at destroying Obama's reputation, and obfuscating the truth, so the best tactic for dealing with them is to aggressively fight back with the truth.

I found this website, recovery.gov, by accident: I was looking for Edward Tufte, the famous (in a small circle) authority on how best to present info visually. He participated in designing this site, which has a ton of great info on it. I've never seen it advertised.

Republicans (actually, extremist rightwing woman-haters and homophobes) have found a way to deal with those pesky things known as FACTS:

Ignore them...the mouthbreathing fans of such radicals have shown they'll believe virtually ANYTHING that the unelected drivers of the "conservative" movement toss their way.

When caught lying like crazy, they simply pay no attention to that...confident that none of the braindead followers will notice anything negative uttered by those who seek the truth.

So nicely done, stellar production quality. I agree, it's a perfect recap of the stunning steps forward that this president has taken and progressive results achieved, even with the wall of opposition he's had to endure. It's impressive for me.

Now, when I put myself in the right wing, conservative viewing position, it's another story all together, so I think this video was made more to fire up the Obama people than any else, and in that context it really does inspire.

I can't wait to have this election be over so that President Obama can get back to doing the great things he is doing for this country. When he will be able to finally REALLY do what he wants, without the idea of a re-election hanging over his head.

o/t but I never saw this article:

    excerpt:

High School dropout Levi Johnston, 18, is known in Wasilla for being a ‘big kid’ who loves parties, hunting moose and playing hockey – and is far from ready to settle down.
But he has made one commitment to 17-year-old Bristol Palin: having her name tattooed on to his ring finger six weeks ago.

Clayton Halfhill, of Wasilla’s AK-Ink Tattoo parlour, said: ‘Levi came in because Bristol’s older brother Track came in a year ago to get a tattoo of a fish on his leg – with Sarah Palin.

‘It’s unusual for a mother to come in with her son. She was Governor, too, so it was even more memorable. But I don’t remember much about Levi. He’s not a memorable kid.’

But those who do know Johnston, who appeared at the Republican National Convention alongside his five-months pregnant girlfriend last week, are hardly more flattering.

One friend said: ‘Levi doesn’t want to wed and everybody knows it. He parties hard, boozes and likes the girls.
'When Bristol got pregnant, he was in a daze. The marriage was the idea of Sarah Palin and her family.’

Kerry Marcott, who works at Wasilla’s ice arena, said: ‘Levi is a prankster. He’s a big kid, more comfortable in jeans and stained T-shirt than a suit, who enjoys the attention of girls.

Dwight Probasco, principal of Wasilla High School, which Johnston dropped out of, said: ‘School might have interfered with Levi’s moose-hunting, so he did a home-school course.

'He continued to play on the ice hockey team, even though he stopped coming to classes two years ago. I understand he is now out of work.’
Levi has also had run-ins with the law: fined twice over illegally fished salmon, and once for speeding.

    - - - - -

That sounds like the stories I heard from summer 08. Levi was forever with friends living in denial and Bristol was constantly away. Sarah was all for the wedding until (probably Todd) easily convinced her it would be a giant mistake, so Sarah offered to adopt Tripp.

Thanks to Obama, Nation and the World a Safer Place

I’m glad we have a president who has his eyes wide open and is intelligent enough to figure out what we need when it comes to security. If our nation was left in the hands of Republicans, they would have us fighting a war in every country they found to be a threat and many more of our young men and women in uniform would be paying the ultimate price with their lives. Along with that, our nation’s treasure would be depleted even more.

We’ve all heard Republicans criticize this president over everything, even foreign policy, always talking about how they would do it differently and how much safer we would be under their watch. The problem with that scenario is that they’ve never proven it to be true. Instead, they only seem to know how to start wars and hand out huge tax cuts for the wealthy on top of the wars they start. Then in the end game, they blame a Democratic president for all our troubles. That’s like the bad kid on the block does something bad like trash someone’s flower garden and then blames it on the good kid who helped plant the garden in the first place.

Obama is a man of action and a man of his word. He said he’d go after Osama bin Laden even if he had to cross over into Pakistan to do it. The Republican nominee, Mitt Romney criticized him for saying that and claimed that he wouldn’t cross over into Pakistan’s sovereign territory like that. His story is different now of course, as he claims he would have done the same thing President Obama did by sending in a special operation to take out Osama bin Laden into Pakistan, which is saying that Obama doesn’t deserve any credit for what any president would have done.

Romney’s words back in 2007 during his first campaign to be the Republican nomination were:

“I do not concur in the words of Barack Obama in a plan to enter an ally of ours… I don’t think those kinds of comments help in this effort to draw more friends to our effort,”

His words now, during a campaign event with Rudy Guilani, when asked by a reporter if he would have done the same thing Obama did by going after bin Laden in Pakistan:

“Of Course, even Jimmy Carter would have given that order.”

    It’s Etch a Sketch time!

President Obama has found a better way to root out Al Qaeda terrorist from wherever they’re hiding; with smart intelligence and drones and small teams of well-trained soldiers like the Navy SEAL team that went after Osama bin Laden in Pakistan; surgically removing them one by one and saving our country from having to send thousands of troops and billions of dollars.

Tuesday night President Obama showed up in Afghanistan unannounced, to mark the anniversary of the death of Osama bin Laden by speaking to our troops about their end mission ahead. He made it clear that the war wasn’t over but it was winding down and our troops would be out of there by 2014, leaving only a small contingent of special operatives to continue to train Afghanistan forces and to root out Al Qaeda terrorist.

Obama made it clear that we were reaching our objectives to destroy Al Qaeda. Here’s an excerpt from that speech:

10 more years of useless war can't be spun in Obama's favour. The up side of it is that Romney wouldn't oppose ten more years either. It's what Americans are. You will buy into any war if it's your favourite party pushing it.

Anonymous at 10:35 pm. Listen or read President Obama's short speech from Afghanistan. Most troops are out by sometime in 2014 (that's not ten years) and then ten years of international commitment to help the Afghans if they need/want it. But no American troops patrolling streets or mountains. It looks like a good way to help Afghanistan stand on its own.

ANd because the GOP will attack Iran the first chance they get, hiding behind their faux concern for Israel. And we support him because he ended torture, which the GOP thinks is just a fine way to show our 'exceptionalism." And because this President has created jobs, not shipped them overseas like Romney did. And because he cares about the middle class, and actually knows what it is like to be poor and struggling, not struggling with an income of $57,000 a day. Poor Ann.
And because he doesn't call people names to make a point, unlike the liars of the GOP and their mindless supporters,

As I wrote above it is not "ten more years of war." Most American/international troops will be out by sometime in 2014 (that's not ten years) and then continuing help to Afghanistan if the country needs/wants it for a further ten years. Watch or read President Obama's speech from Afghanistan. It seems to be a reasonable approach to help a shaky Afghanistan get ahead on its own.

I like this new ad...to the point, specific against each lie. Its true the people that hate the prez just hate him, no matter what, but we hope this influences the on the fence low information voter. I watched the special on 30 Rock about the raid on Osama...it was really good, I feel so damn lucky we have this amazing man running the show, nerves of steel. BTW, I also watched your buddy's Nick movie
"Sarah Palin, you betcha" today on Netflix. Very well done, loved your cameo Gryp..Wasilla looks like a rugged place to live (compared to Las Vegas)I enjoy the warm weather too much. He did a good job at reporting and was quite funny. I can imagine if anyone put together every lie about that family, it would be thousands of pages or a 6 hour movie. Just following newspapers and articles, there are a million things he didn't include. I am more worried about getting rid of congress now, they are gonna double down on keeping the house as they know they lost with Mitt. I hope they keep reminding voters how truly horrible they are and their plan since the beginning to stop everything Obama wanted.

Obama Campaign Slams Lie Filled Koch Funded Ad

Both PolitiFact and the Washington Post gave the ad their worst rating for falsehood. The ad is so full of distortions and lies that the Washington Post wrote, “The erroneous assertions emerge yet again, without any shame.”

The Koch brothers are backing Mitt Romney because Obama wants to take away billions in tax breaks (subsidies) for the oil companies. The President’s been fighting to do this for a while now, to no avail because of the Party of No and the oil Dems. The Koch brothers spent 6 million dollars on the attack ads against Obama.

Six million dollars on an ad full of lies. Why do they need to lie so much to get people to vote for Mitt Romney (or rather, voting against Barack Obama since no one but the Kochs seems to care for Mitt Romney)?

Stephanie Cutter, the Deputy Campaign manager for Obama for America sets the record straight. Watch here:
