More good news for the President.

Courtesy of Bizjournals:

Gas prices have been dropping steadily in Florida since April, and according to at least one analyst, that may just be the tip of the iceberg.

Energy analyst Philip Verleger told Bloomberg TV that U.S. drivers could see $2.50-a-gallon gas prices by November, the Boston Business Journal reports.

The cause is two-fold, he said: The price of oil has fallen sharply recently due to overproduction in Saudi Arabia, and falling demand due to Europe’s economic slowdown is also a factor.

The Republicans have been attempting to hang the high gas prices on the President, in an attempt to drag down his popularity, for months now, if the prices are indeed dropping this quickly watch for the Right Wing to start throwing everything but the kitchen sink at him as they become more and more desperate to find something that will stick.

In fact the Romney campaign has already asked the Republican governor of Florida  to stop talking about how well his state is recovering:

Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign asked Florida Governor Rick Scott to tone down his statements heralding improvements in the state’s economy because they clash with the presumptive Republican nominee’s message that the nation is suffering under President Barack Obama, according to two people familiar with the matter.

Scott, a Republican, was asked to say that the state’s jobless rate could improve faster under a Romney presidency, according to the people, who asked not to be named.

kind of sucks when the facts don't match your talking points doesn't it Mittens?

"You hang in there kiddo, I am doing the best I can to give you a better future."

Thank you for this positive post.

I am so soul weary of the negativity being generated against our President.

He is one of our greatest leaders, someone who truly seems to care about the average American.

That so many cannot understand that is beyond sad; it is tragic. That the wealthy can so saturate the media to skew reality makes me shudder.

I come to your blog to renew my faith that some of us can see through this sham. If only I had the money to donate to liberal candidates. Sadly, I am currently unemployed and on a restricted budget. I am doing what I can to volunteer to help make a difference, but I sometimes wonder if my efforts will make any difference.

Then, you remind me that I am not alone in my admiration of this good man. Thank you.

    1. Great, inspirational posts like this DO make a difference, 6:44! Thanks for your thoughts! And thanks to Gryphen for getting the word out -- a real Patriot our "G" is!

I think President Obama is the Best. President. Ever. At least in my lifetime.

Let's make sure he is reelected this fall. We can do it.

    3. If you vote and volunteer you're making a huge difference.

And talk to those you know. There is research that we all have a trusted source. We can hear the same thing over and over and not be convinced, but when that particular person says it, suddenly we're won over. You're "that person" for someone -- probably lots of people. And you may be influencing people you don't know, just by commenting on blogs.

      We can do this!

Our gas is down .50 in the past month here in MI...and we run higher than the national average. $2.50 would be amazing! Of course, can't you just hear the GOP...they want to blame him when it;s high, but it will be THEIR wisdom that brings the price down. Bunch of f******* hypocrites, every last one of them.

Knowing the Republicans, they'll just compare gas prices from the Obama Administration to the Reagan Administration.

Notice they always pick Reagan as their "go-to" guy... poor Nixon never gets any Republican love. I actually read a comment from a blogger who dismissed Nixon as a "progressive". Have mercy, they're trying to foist that turd on us! Give 'em a couple of years, and GW Bush will be remembered as a "Socialist Liberal".

Remember Michelle Bachman was running a few months ago and she said that when President Obama took office (2009) gas prices were $1.79 a gallon? In her dreams! Under the Bush Administration gas prices in MIchigan came alarmingly close to $5.00. Republicans do nothing but lie and hope that no one knows the truth.

Many of the republicans in Congress and in the country have a habit of running off at the mouth and not checking the facts on any subject. I had read in late April that PBO had spoken to the king of Saudi Arabia and asked if S.A. would be able to supply more oil because of the U.S. oil embargo on Iran. Republicans never give the president credit for being able to accomplish anything, but he accomplished this, and all we're hearing from them are crickets. I did read on Media Matters though, that the Fox news readers have begun asking if it's a good thing that gas prices are so much lower than they were a few months ago. The implication was that gas prices that are too low might threaten the president's chance of being re-elected in November. I'm sick of them. They accuse the president of causing the nation to be more divided than ever while they lie 24//365 about everything he says/does and do everything they can to promote an "us" vs. "them" scenario on the smallest, most inconsequential issue.

While its obvious that a LOT of the misinformed public gets its marching orders from the Fox network, it still had me scratching my head in wonder, at how completely BLIND a person would have to be, to not see what all is going on.

Everyone agrees that congress is awful, but many do not see the obstruction of the Republicans, as the root cause. What can explain that?

While any savvy adult can watch Romney for two minutes, and deduce the guy is a total slimeball, how is it that millions are considering actually voting for such an obvious liar and cheat?

I think I got a hint of an answer to this mystery, just a few minutes ago.

I was reading the comments section of a nice, uplifting video about a professor who offered coffee to his visiting students, and put out a variety of cups. All the good, expensive cups were grabbed for, so his point was that the reason they are finding life so stressful and not at all fun, is that they are forgetting its the coffee that was to be enjoyed, not a contest to see who could grab the best cups.

So, some jerk sees that as a political commentary, and calls the professor a typical liberal who is anti-American, citing the drive to bash the crap out of all other people in order to horde the riches of the world, as the true meaning of life...and to hell with the stinking coffee.

And I realized that this love for money has taken on a RELIGIOUS aspect for such deluded people...while at the same time considering their stance to be Christian-like. The first Commandment is the most important one, about "having no other gods before me."

If you ignore that one, the rest don't even matter. Your faith in earthly riches as the only thing to strive for, is what drives you to evil actions, and there is little hope for your soul.

Such a cult-like take on things, is to show that you didn't get the ending of "Wall Street" (that the Gordon Gekko character was JAILED) and instead thought of him as the freaking HERO.

No wonder you see Romney in a good light, and figure anyone not like him is weak, unpatriotic, and asking to be bullied.

And to think that I used to scoff at the saying, "Money is the root of all evil."

Don't forget China, too, which is struggling with recession in its own economy. This is world-wide, folks, not just in our neck of the woods.

The demand for oil simply is not there right now. That should put a dent in "drill, baby, drill" adherents, too, and ramp up more interest in alternative energy sources during this lull.

President Obama has the right ideas--clean energy absolutely must replace dirty, carbon-based energy if we are to continue cleaning up the planet and our place in the universe.

Remember, voting is like driving a car.

If you want to go forward, shift the gear (vote) into D.

If you want to go backward, shift the gear (vote) into R.

Do this--next time someone mentions how much gas prices were in November of 08, or January 09, tell them to go to Google Street View & drop the little man in front of some gas stations. If the photos were from the summer of 08, you'll see $3.95+ up prices at most stations. Idiots are always pulling that shit about the November 08 prices Paying $3.00 a gallon now is entirely different than $3.00 4-5 years ago.

I just always remind them that we have a free market society and that I am NOT against the government taking over the privately owned oil companies but that most Americans seem to object to the idea, All of a sudden they think that the oil companies have the right to charge what they want.

According to Republican-moron-logic if gas prices go up it's 100% the president's fault.

If that's the case, then the president gets 100% of the credit if prices go down.

    Republicans = Hypocrites

I live in Pennsylvania, and took a trip through New Jersey this weekend. We're usually 20 cents higher than the prices in Jersey. Gas in my area went down from 3.89 two months ago to 3.23. The gas in Jersey was higher than my state for the first time in ages, the cheapest we saw was 3.39.

I know a lot of graphs we see are aggregates from all states, but I haven't passed a mall or shopping center that didn't have a 3 quarter to full parking lot on weekends, so, at least in my area, people are still out shopping, yet all we see on the local news is gloom and doom, and how it's Obama's fault.

There is no choice in this election, it's Obama or oblivion for the middleclass, working poor, unions, and "life as we know it".
