Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey

Picture of the day!
I have never been more frightened of an 86 year old woman in my life!
Now that made me laugh! Sarah having her Daddy reload her gun for her wiped away any credibility that she had as an outdoorswoman in my eyes. Thanks for the great start to the day!
I would bet that Queen Elizabeth can hit the target (moose/caribou) over the "Tea Party" queen. Plus none of the men around the Queen look particularly scared or want to take the gun away from her -- like Scarah's dad wanted to!!
When it became known that Prince Harry was in Afghanistan, there was agitation that he be sent home as his presence might create an increased risk for his unit. That is, once the information came out of his presence, the enemy might deliberately increase their attacks on his unit. Eventually he was sent home, over his objections, because he wanted to share the risks his unit was facing. And then everyone in his unit put on a t-shirt that said, "I'm Harry."
Most people forget that Elizabeth served during WWII--first training as a mechanic and then working as a driver. So of course she learned to shoot as well as load, disassemble, clean and reassemble her own weapon. England suffered actual attacks during the War, and the Royal Family was instrumental on keeping morale up at home. They refused to shelter in Canada where they would be safer.
In spite of the unbelievable luxury the Royal family live, in I have to admire the Queen because she has literally sacrificed the last 50 years of her life in service to the nation.
Being THE Royal can't be easy. You have to live a literally cloistered life in a social sense, and you are always on the minute you step outside your castles :)
Elizabeth is the rill dill, unlike the Witch of Wasilla who asked "does it kick" and couldn't even work a simple bolt action on her daddy's rifle.
I agree. Being a royal is more difficult than people realize. Tabloids are full of instances of what happens when one makes mistakes under the pressure.
Many years ago I read a cookbook written by the chef to the Royal family. Since it was a cookbook and not a biography or "tell-all" her stories came from a more personal, everyday viewpoint. Bear in mind that her family never had any intention of inheriting the throne - it was to go through her uncle's line, so they were raised a little differently. When her uncle abdicated, her father (who had never desired to be king) was thrust into the role, and as a teenager, Elizabeth had to suddenly deal with the fact that she would one day become queen. She accepted her destiny and began her life of service to her country.
One experience I remember the cook related - Elizabeth was dressed and prepared for an event and looking so "royal" and all. She said to the cook "you've never seen me in my work clothes before", smiling.
I think Elizabeth is a remarkable woman and has done an excellent job fulfilling a role she never intended to have. It was an immense job and she has been doing it for 60 years. Remember, when she started the British still had quite a sizable empire. Think all the changes we (Americans) have gone through as a nation over the last 60 years. She had to usher her country from the Cold War through decolonization into globalization. It has been a huge responsibility and she has done a good job with it.
Sarah Palin isn't even in the same class as this woman.
Elizabeth was born as the Third Lady of the Land- after Queen Mary and her own mother the Duchess of York (later known affectionately as the Queen Mum). Elizabeth has spent her entire life in the public eye, the last 60 years as Queen Regnant, and never once made herself look a fool, through intelligence and discipline.
Truly an incredible record. I can't think of anybody else who has managed anything near as much.
I am in England at the moment and pictures of the lovely and gracious queen are everywhere. Unlike the quitter queen who is lucky to get her mug on a tabloid cover.
My money's on Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen is one remarkable woman. Her entire family's lives have played out on the world stage, and through it all, she's held herself with steady grace, remarkable inner strength, and resolve.
Sarah Palin, not so much, every year is an "Anus Horribilus" (the spelling is intentional)
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go study "Syria"...

ReplyDeleteThe queen is the real deal. She was even an auto mechanic. Her sons and grandsons are IN the military, not posers.

ReplyDeleteKeep Calm and Carry On.
Watch those pointless apostrophes and watch that spelling!

Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II ROCKS.
ReplyDeleteHer Majesty has more class in her pinkie than Scarah's entire useless family put together.
