Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey

The Power of Hope, and Dreams Now Realized.
Now THIS is the American dream.
I thought this would be a nice video to share as we prepare for our night of slumber.
Just beautiful. I know a Somali woman who came here in 1999 with 5 kids and no English skills. She worked up to higher and higher paying jobs, while learning English and going to school herself. She put all her kids through school and now has a very good job in a school district office helping others who are new to the country. We can learn so much from our new citizens.
I really need to add: Thanks so much for these positively wonderful nightly posts, Mr. G. As much as we need to keep hammering on the Palins, we also need these uplifting messages to make us remember why we must keep pounding out the message.
It's a great story, and many congratulations to this beautiful young woman.
That being said, her scholarship is only made possible by the generosity of the college, and the wealth of our once great and prosperous country, the USA.
We still have a vestige left of the wealth left from our more prosperous economy from the years following World War II.
That is fast being eroded by taxes that are too low, titanic debt levels, a bloated military budget, and policies that have eliminated import tarrifs and court rulings that favor the multi national corporations and the ultra rich and powerful.
Irresponsible policies implemented by our Congress and Presidents Reagan, Clinton, and both Bushes have pushed us near the edge of ruin
The Teaparty, and know nothing fools like Scott Walker, Palin, Demint, Romney, Boehner, and Mitch McConnell will continue favoring the rich and powerful, to the detriment of everyone else.
It's nothing short of a miracle that there is still residual wealth left so that this deserving young lady can fulfill the elusive American dream.
I see life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness for her.
Thanks a lot, Gryphen, for making me cry first thing in the morning!
What a beautiful story and what a wonderful young lady who is sure to do great things with her life. I work in a city school and there are many immigrants from other countries, many in war-torn parts of the world. Their appreciation for the better - and safer - life they have found here, and their determination to make the most of their education is inspiring.
Best of luck to this young lady...I am sure she'll go far in her life and touch many others.
Just beautiful.

Beautiful! Sometimes you forget what you love about this country. Opportunity. I hope it stays this way for my Grandsons.
