Both sides spin the upholding of the Affordable Care Act, but Mitt Romney's deceit is especially egregious.

Courtesy of USA Today:

Obama reiterated his "if you like your plan, you can keep your plan" refrain, despite the fact that at least a few million workers won't keep their employer-sponsored plans, according to the Congressional Budget Office. (Essentially because there is nothing to keep employers from changing their health care plans, which of course they can do now as well. And those with private insurance may find that it does not meet the minimum requirements of the new law, and have to change it or instead choose to opt into an employer based health care plan.)

The president also exaggerated the benefits of the law, such as the number of young adults who were able to join their parents' plans, thanks to the law, and the number of individuals who will receive rebates issued by insurance companies that didn't spend enough premium dollars on health care. (The White House has been touting a 6.6 million number for young adults that are now able to remain on their parent's coverage when, according to the HHS, the number may be closer to 3.1 million.)

Romney repeated a number of distortions, saying that the law would "cut Medicare" by $500 billion and that it "adds trillions to our deficits." That's a reduction in the future growth of Medicare spending over 10 years. And CBO says the law would reduce the deficit.

Romney said the law is a "job-killer." But CBO says the law would have a "small" impact on jobs, mainly affecting the amount of labor workers choose to supply. Those getting subsidies, for instance, might work less hours since they're paying less for health care.

Romney claimed the law "puts the federal government between you and your doctor." The law would set minimum benefits packages, but medical services will not be government-run, nor does the law allow for rationing of care.

As we all know in politics the costs and savings of new policies are often exaggerated, and there is certainly evidence that the President is guilty of some of that, but what Romney, Palin, Limbaugh, and the other Right Wing mouthpieces are doing is to outright lie that this bill does incredible damage to the deficit, jobs, and Medicare. And essentially they could not care less if they get caught, because if they can't poison it in the minds of Americans enough to get it repealed before it becomes fully implemented, they are screwed. Something of which they are painfully aware.

And it is getting harder and harder for them to hide it.

I find Sarah and Fox far more disheartening than Rmoney. She is encouraged to name call, tell even more lies (yes, accroding to Sarah, the 'death panels await') and sit there with a straight face and make things up. And the morons who watch just eat it up, nod, and are certain that this President is bad news for good ol' Amurica. And Hannity just eggs her on. At least Greta Stoneface steps in and tries to correct the Wasilla Witch occasionally.

Sarah is getting hers--that is why she is such a rotten person. She is a bitch because her children are nightmares. Were any of her grandchildren born in wedlock? No. Her kids are/were druggies, dropouts and vandals. Her husband visits hookers (that speaks volumes). She is an international laughingstock who is trotted out on Fox "News" to spew some hateful gibberish. She is almost 50 and all she's had going for her is going (she'll go too far with the surgery one of these times). She isn't our Vice President. She was too dumb and lazy to finish out her term as gov. Sarah Palin got hers already, that is why we have to put up with her. Take all that disappointment and failure and tack on menopause, and you have a psycho shrew, that's Sarah!

Sorry, but we have to put up with her because the truth has not been told about this women. Even her "followers" will shun her if the real story of Trig's birth birth is finally revealed. Even FOX News would shun her then and it would be a black mark against them for having this liar on their network for so long and allowing her to spew her hatred and insanity. NOW is the time to get this truth told to give us at least some peace from this witch.

    4. For those who don't remember, Sarah's "Death Panels" does come from something. The brother of one of the members of the Administration is a Bioethicist. He was part of a group of folk in the field who took on the task of providing guidelines for those making decisions regarding organ transplants. In other words, guidelines for how to decide when you have one organ and 10 possible recipients. In this particular case, you really are deciding who lives and who probably will die. Oh course, Sarah took this little germ of an idea and blew it all out of proportion. But there are "death panels" and that is their purpose.

Sarah's issue wasn't with organ transplant issues, Sarah's problem was with including coverage for "end of life counselling" in medical plans under Obama Care. A valid service and source of comfort and information to make informed medical decisions.

She HAD to twist it on her prop son, Trig, falsely claiming that one day, the "less than perfect" will face "government funded death panels" who decide who lives and who dies, to cut the costs of health care.

Snopes has a version that doesn't mention Sarah Palin but used the falsehood to scare senior citizens on Medicare.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. That awesome shot of Nancy Pelosi and John Boner reacting to the SCOTUS health care decision is worth a lot more than a thousand. Pretty much says it all.

Meanwhile, Loosiana Gov. Bobby "Bobby" Jindal has declared he has no intention of obeying the ACA requirement to establish a state insurance exchange because, and I paraphrase here, "people dying from a lack of affordable access to health care is an honorable and welcome sacrifice made at the altar of severe conservatism. Fortunately, most of the martyrs will be inconsequential lower middle class and poor people, so let's not get our collective panties in a twist".

Someone needs to tell Jindal to slow down his speech when he rants on and on. He's not enjoyable to watch or listen to when being interviewed.

He is going to hurt people within his own state by his decision on the insurance. I'd suggest a 'recall' because he obviously isn't looking out for his constituents. What an ass!

    6. The governors who are saying they will not implement the insurance exchanges have a nasty surprise coming. Apparently the law contains a statement that if the state fails to comply according to the timelines, HHS will do it for them! Nasty ol' Federal Government will provide them with a plan! The SCOTUS said they could refuse extended Medicaid for the poor, but it didn't excuse them on the insurance exchanges.

BTW, in defense of the honorable Rep. John "Boner" Boner, let me point out that the look of abject despair on his face results less from his disappointment that Obamacare was upheld by the Supremes and more so from his embarrassment at wetting his pants at work. Again. At least we can admire his quick thinking solution to position himself strategically within a shadow so as to minimize the telltale signs of an 'accident'.

Although Obamacare contains some good provisions there are a number of insidious taxes that will affect the middle class in particular.(Maybe that is the reason that the whole thing ended up being called a "Tax"-LOL).
Examples:1. If you itemize your income tax deductions the medical expenses threshold is going up from 7.5% to 10% of adjusted gross income.
2.If you have health insurance that is considerably more generous than a bare bones policy then the employer portion of that policy will now be subject to tax.
    3. Other odd taxes (exp: Tax on wheelchairs.)
(There is more information at the Americans for Tax Reform website-www.atr.org).

Conclusion: Taxed Enough Already. Vote Romney.

  12. Nancy Pelosi (a.k.a. Sarah's Dingbat)is dressed impeccably in the photo with Boener who is also well-suited. Nancy Pelosi pushed the ACA through the House. She is also responsible for a great deal of legislation getting through the House during the first half of the Obama administration before the teabaggers took over. Hers was one of the most productive congresses on record.

Sarah? Hardly showed up during her two years as governor and then she quit. She was and is NOT an energy expert as McCain promoted her and Alaska now has nothing but trouble w/their pipeline, the oil industry/leases and current gov Parnell (who Palin hand picked prior to his being elected gov!). Alaskans obviously never learn when electing their 'red/Repubs to that office. Perhaps it is time they change their state back to blue/Dems as it was for a number of years?!!

Yeah, both sides are spinning, but the Democrats make more sense. I watched the main stream news while reading the New York Times, and the democrats all seemed calm, rational, and prepared with the facts. The Republicans had veins popping out of their foreheads, red faces, and kept repeating that health care costs will rise (duh, they always do), and repeatedly used the word "Tax".

Love the photo of Nancy Pelosi and Boehner. Melissa Harris Perry did a great two part interview this weekend. Shes smart, savvy, and speaks the truth. She opened so many doors for women, especially in politics. She's one person I'd love to talk with over dinner.
