Here is that enthusiasm gap we keep hearing about.

Click image to visit panoramic image and then use mouse to move left and right.

6,500 stood in temperatures that reached the high 90's to catch a glimpse of our President.

Okay so HOW big was the crowd that came to see Mitt Romney bullshit about his ability to create more jobs in this country again?
"How many showed up to see the President? Really, in all that heat?"
Yeah, that's what I thought.

No way was there 65,000 people there today. 6500, maybe. 65,000, no way. I was there.
Great to see those United Steelworkers of America in picture 2. They work very hard to help get this president elected .

I hope he's safe. Does it appear as if the bald security guy to his right is wearing a vest while the president does not? He looks so vulnerable. It is great to see the enthusiastic crowd, tho.

For that many people to be out there in the heat tells you he is very much appreciated and liked.

Oh, Beldar # 5:09, I share you concerns.

No, hero worship is not my bag, but ever since I watched, in real time, Candidate Obama's speech in Berlin in the summer of 2008, I have admired this man's fatalism when he walked that long, lonely walk down the stairs from the Victory Column to the podium from which he would address those who had assembled. There were an estimated 250,000, not only on the ground of Kurfuerstendamm, but hanging onto light posts and climbing trees trying to get a better look. With a crowd that large, there is no guarantee of goodwill, and he was merely a candidate with minimal security.

This slender man walking alone down those steps on that sunlit day showed a fatalism, an obvious understanding of what he was doing and a willingness to accept consequences, that set him apart.
As far as I am concerned, it still does.

      diagonal-

again, very nicely said. But Martin and Bobby were fatalistic and willing, too... so let's not go there. Some consequences are just too horrendous to contemplate.

      Diagonal,

I, too, share your fears. I am not a pollyanna or a chickenhawk. But I am very leary of all the misguided hatred of him in our own country.

For the first time in my life, I would defend this president with my own life. He is that important, and that includes all the policies that I disagree with him on. Because I truly believe he will change this country for the better in his 2nd term.

      Keep the faith!

If you think about it Gryph, there is an enthusiasm gap from 2008. We would see anywhere from 20,000-100,000 people attending candidate Obama's rallies back then. 6500 is a drop in the bucket. That's why we cannot give up the fight to re-elect him. Too many people are disappointed that he didn't snap his fingers and all he promised would be done. The slimy Party of No had a lot to do with that.

On another note, I can't see Rmoney with even 1000 supporters at his rallies.

Get out and talk to your friends and neighbors. Vote!

"Trifle digits?" Mitt Romney can't even get 1,000 people to show up at one of his pathetic little rallies. Mitt Romney only gets hundreds at his rallies.

I think Michelle's cookies look so much better than Ann's. In fact Ann's cookies look like 7-11 cookies that have been left on the shelf for too long.

  14. Seeing the President in person is different from going to the voting booth and taking the time to pull the lever (or fill in the scan-tron like I have to).

It is imperative that all of you reading this get your people out to vote!

For example in Florida the Governor is trying to get tens of thousands of eligible voters removed from the voter rolls because the are supposedly illegal aliens (the list is 98% wrong!). Florida decided 2000, and the difference was less than 1000 votes!

Please! Make sure your progressive/liberal/moderately liberals friends take time to vote!

I am from Utah. We have a group of 50 people (so far, hopefully more in the future) who have been traveling 5 hours to CO to canvass for Obama once a month in May and June (we'll go twice in July and months in the future). We are doing this because CO is a tossup between Obama and Romney. It is virtually impossible for Obama to win Utah. We drive down on Friday, and are given free housing by other Obama supporters living in the town we are canvassing in - we work all day on Saturday and return on Sunday. This election is critical. So many people used to think it really didn't matter who wins--but the GOP wants to take our country back to 1776.

  15. I was half way listening to MSNBC yesterday, don't know who the substitute host was but he showed President Obama at one of his speeches in Ohio and said "here he is with a couple of hundred supporters". I think it was the one shown above. I thought at the time that the host's estimation of the crowd was inaccurate. Propaganda even from MSNBC?

I found myself watching the background of one of PBO's Ohio speeches yesterday. There were trees, people walking by not too far behind him. That scares me. I remember the hate expressed about JFK and MLK - even that wasn't as bad as what people express these days about President Obama. BarackObama2012

About Barack Obama's crowds being in the hundreds in Ohio, a few days ago:

Barack Obama's campaign only gave out a certain number of free tickets. His campaign probably only gave away hundreds of tickets. I heard they ran out of tickets. It was first come, first serve. He can easily get crowds in the thousands in Ohio. He did when he was in Ohio, last month.

As suggested above, place the cursor in the top photo and you can see the extent of the crowd. Remember this has been beastly hot weather in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Also remember that some of the towns President Obama has been visiting are very small. I'd love to see him her in northern Michigan!
