Romney camp claims that President Obama does not fully appreciate the relationship between "Anglo-Saxon" countries. Hmm, I wonder if that could be code for something?

"Isn't it time you gave the white guy a chance to run this country?"
Courtesy of the Telegraph:

As the Republican presidential challenger accused Barack Obama of appeasing America's enemies in his first foreign policy speech of the US general election campaign, advisers told The Daily Telegraph that he would abandon Mr Obama’s “Left-wing” coolness towards London.

In remarks that may prompt accusations of racial insensitivity, one suggested that Mr Romney was better placed to understand the depth of ties between the two countries than Mr Obama, whose father was from Africa.

“We are part of an Anglo-Saxon heritage, and he feels that the special relationship is special,” the adviser said of Mr Romney, adding: “The White House didn’t fully appreciate the shared history we have”.

In other words the President is not  "Anglo-Saxon" enough to appreciate the relationship between the white folk. Oh, well that explains the problem.

The President is too black.

Well just when we thought we had FINALLY figured out the platform that the Romney campaign was going to run on, they walked it back:

Andrea Saul, Romney's press secretary, disputed the comments and emphasized that they did not reflect the beliefs of the former Massachusetts governor.

"It's not true. If anyone said that, they weren't reflecting the views of Governor Romney or anyone inside the campaign," she told CBSNews.com in an email. Saul did not comment on what specifically was not true.

"Wait,...who....what did they say? Well THAT is not something we want to say publicly. So...never happened. Next question."

Look I think that most of us are already pretty sure that the Romney campaign is going for the racist vote, and I have little doubt that many in his inner circle are closet racists, so personally I think this was an example of somebody finally getting caught telling the truth.

That is why he referred to him as "our corrupt President" in this Hardball clip from yesterday.

By the way, and I know I have been saying this a lot lately, but Matthews REALLY did a good job here, and was quite aggressive in going after Romney's war mongering and insulting attitude toward Obama. I am beginning to gain some of my respect back for the man.

Chris Matthews is pretty good about calling out the GOP/Tea Party's racist dog whistles and "othering" of our President. I give him props for that. You can tell it pisses him off.

    Dear Mitt:

    1) give minions list of talking points
    2) give media list of valid minions
    3) have minions log who talked to which media

Voila! You control of your message.

The "we don't know who said what to whom" meme indicates a campaign tail-spinning out of control.

  7. So many oops-we-did-it-again moments that "don't reflect Lord Romney's attitude" or that "wasn't said" or "nobody can remember" or that were "taken out of context" but just wait to see what they have in store for us tomorrow and the next day. The man and his submissive wife are repulsive from their smarmy smiles to the things they say.

Oh, it's not just his wife who is submissive. Romney toes the line and does exactly what "The Brethren" (the higher-ups in the 'church') tell him to do, even down to what words to say.

Mitt is a puppet; there is absolutely no doubt about that. An evil puppet worthy of a Stephen King novel.

I'd like to know why he calls cutting military spending "taking the easy way out"? That's the same thing he said to that unfortunate woman who had to have an abortion in order to save her own life when he was governor. The day she was scheduled to have her abortion he showed up at the clinic and told her she was "taking the easy way out" too. Yeah, Mitt better she should just die and leave her other children without a mother to raise them.

What about your fuckin' wife? Why does everyone else with MS have to struggle when she gets to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on dressage horses? Maybe you should give her a lecture about the moral depravity of taking the easy way out?

This made me cry, Gryphen. What makes people hate like this to take such a horrific action. I'm stunned.

Hate Crime: ‘Fag’ Painted On Gay Man’s Car Then Blown Up In Front Of Him

Jon Ferguson, a 25-year old gay Oklahoma City man Saturday morning saw his car spray painted with the word “fag,’ then blown up feet away from him as he approached. Ferguson was rushed to the hospital with 1st and 2nd degree burns as the flames from his Camaro rose ten feet into the air. Oklahoma City Fire Department and local officials are treating this only as a case of arson, and not as a hate crime, for now. No, seriously. Arson. Not a hate crime — yet. (The New Civil Rights Movement called the Oklahoma City Fire Department and we’re awaiting a call back — we’ll update you when we get a response.) And sadly, the vandals may have won. “It’s almost not worth being proud of who you are, and trying to show that you’re gay, because stuff like this really does happen,” Ferguson tells local Oklahoma City News 9 TV. ”I’ve always seen it on the news that kids are dying and stuff because they’re being bullied, and you’re 25 years old and something like this happens to you. It’s almost not worth it, and you understand why kids don’t come out of the closet.”

I absolutely detest this shithead, Mitt Romney!

Why didn't the media cover the fact he called President Obama 'corrupt' yesterday? Romney should be confronted by our journalists and lies pointed out when he states them. No journalist seems to have the balls to do it and as far as I'm concerned they are not doing the job they are suppose to.

I think our media is doing nothing more than playing games w/this election process. And, I think President Obama is going to win.

Sincerely hope Romney doesn't do something overseas that screws things up for policies of the Obama Administration. If he does, he should be tried for teason ASAP. Remember that President Obama is well liked in Europe in spite of what asshole Romney says.

Why hasn't it been brought out that he deleted all proof of 'anything' when he ran the Olympics? Can you even imagine this jerk as president of the USA? We'd never know what he was doing and he assuredly wouldn't be up front and transparent w/the citizens of the USA.

What a load of crap comes out of Romney's mouth every single day. he isn;t even a closet racist. Nope, he might as well wear his pointy hat and robe from now on. I think Europe is pretty confused to hear that our President has no respect for them. That he doesn't 'understand' our shared history. I bet the President's ancestors have been here longer than Mitt's, and they don't even believe in turning people into Mormons after they die. But Mitt, you just earned yourself the KKK vote. Goody for you.

And I don't want to let go of the Mormon thing, either. Romney says he wouldn't consider putting a Muslim in a cabinet position because he felt there wasn't a large enough percentage of them to warrant a cabinet level position. He does feel howeve, that they might be entitled to a lesser position.

Do you think there is a large enough percentage of Mormons to warrant having one as president of the United States?

  20. Romney may not have meant to refer to PBO as corrupt in his speech, but I think he said what he was thinking. He can read a TelePrompTer, so I think that he actually revealed what he thinks about the president. The Anglo Saxon comment is a dog whistle that the Romney campaign is now trying to walk back. I believe that the only reason Romney is trying to walk back the comment is that he knows it's offensive and racist. One of his campaign surrogates was speaking on his behalf, so I find it unbelievable that Romney and his advisers hadn't thought of what they would say about U.S.-British relations before the comment was made. I believe it was another attempt to portray the president as being different because of his race. Even some Brits were offended by the comment. Many of them were commenting on the "Think Progress" site, and they were also calling the comment racist. I have noticed a pattern with Romney. He and his surrogates will say things that reflect how he really feels, and once they get some push back on it, they'll back pedal and say they meant something else. In the case of the Anglo Saxon comment they're saying that whoever made the comment wasn't representing the Romney campaign. It's a lie. I don't believe that any member of the British press would have gone up to the first American he/she saw and asked him/her a question about Romney. Romney has made many blunders, and I always notice that it's someone else he throws under the bus.

We already have a Republican state house and state senate majority and then add in we probably are going to replace Dick Lugar, a true bipartisan statesman with big teatard Richard Mourdock. Also, if you don't follow politics much, we in Indiana actually had the Secretary of State prosecuted and convicted of voter fraud last February. The guy got a divorce for a newer younger model (He definately was NOT a looker, more like a two-bagger!)and continued to vote from his ex's resdience cause he wanted to keep his high paying job on some council, which he would lose if he was honest with his new residency and anyway the guy voted from the ex's residency in two, not one, but two elections. But the guy who he defeated couldn't become the new SS because the Republicans had changed the rules when they had a sneaking suspicion that the guy would be found guilty. Nifty isn't it when you've got Republicans running things? AND YOU DON'T THINK THAT ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES!! Listen to Gryphen and DO NOT sit this one out! Vote all of those Repubes out!
