"Shut up 99% and do my nails!" Just a peek into the mindset of those that donate to Mitt Romney's campaign.

"Then what did that nasty old bitch say?"
Reporting on the long line of expensive cars that were arriving at a Mitt Romney fundraiser at an East Hampton estate the LA Times reporter reported this exchange:

A New York City donor a few cars back, who also would not give her name, said Romney needed to do a better job connecting. "I don't think the common person is getting it," she said from the passenger seat of a Range Rover stamped with East Hampton beach permits. "Nobody understands why Obama is hurting them.

"We've got the message," she added. "But my college kid, the baby sitters, the nails ladies -- everybody who's got the right to vote -- they don't understand what's going on. I just think if you're lower income -- one, you're not as educated, two, they don't understand how it works, they don't understand how the systems work, they don't understand the impact."

Well I guess that could not be more clear now could it?  If you are rich you should have the right to elect this country's leaders, and if you are not, well fuck off!

And the sad thing is that with the Citizens United Supreme Court ruling that is exactly who might be deciding who gets elected from now on.

Unless of course those of us who DON'T get invited to a fundraiser at Revlon Chairman Ronald Perelman's East Hampton estate get out and vote that is.  Remember THEY have the money, but WE have the numbers.

Yes, many of the super rich are pissing down their legs at the indignity of it all. They just don't understand why so many of us don't want to elect a robot of a billionaire who cares NOTHING for anyone outside his own rich buddies, church and scary ass family (At least that is what John Boner says).

Rachel did a hysterical piece about this last night.

I've said it before and I'll say it till I'm blue in the face (a nice shade of blue, however--one that matches the Rolls!)--Koch Enterprises, et. al., are prepping the lo-info, undereducated, Bible-fearin' masses to be the new serfs in their fantasy fiefdom. Unfortunately, this will take the rest of us down with them if we're not vigilant come November 6th. Can puppetboy Mittsy make this any more obvious by flaunting his Thurston Howell-esque social "set"?

Yet some of the Rill Patriot dingalings who populate PalinWorld and sites like it tend to feel that they'll be as rich as a Koch progeny in the future, because they--and not them lazy Libruls--deserve it! One winning Lotto ticket, one shot at a reality show, one really profitable lawsuit, and they're in. Keep their heads in the clouds and they'll submit to a nickel an hour, lousy working conditions, the company store, etc.

Now that Obama has tapped out all those poor and homeless movie stars his best fundraising days are behind him.

The only way he can keep up with the GOP money machine is to cut campaign costs which has already begun.

He has the power of incumbency with the media covering for him and he can't pull away from Romney in the polls.

Obama is petulant and snippy and we will be seeing more of that in the next four months.

You really should be wishing Palin was the nominee.

    Too late for that huh?

I wouldn't be so proud of his fund-raising if I were you. It doesn't mean a thing other than the "Have Too Much"'s want him in office.

So glad to know you think we are "poor and homeless", and that your President is "petulant and snippy". Why don't you just say "uppity nigger" and get it over with. You KNOW it's what you feel and mean.

Snippy and petulant, huh? Nahhhh thats Mitten's bio.

Palin as the GOP nominee? Yeah that would have been fun, but we love our country too much.

GOP money machine. Don't you mean the billionaires club?

Of course its not too late for anything. Last time I checked- polls
aren't votes, hundreds of millions of dollars aren't votes, billionaires and even the homeless get one vote. AND---no matter how much money Mittens seems to get, the majority of people in your beloved polls don't seem to like or trust his ass.

      Hmmm.

Of course the ones who love their money and not their country folk will vote for him as will the idiotic people who just wanna see someone a bit paler in office. And I'm sure there are some bitter idiots who thought Obama should lay heaven at their feet who will look to a third party in anger.

But,other than that . . . . Eat some vegetables. You seem constipated.

As that's what I see many of his spokesmen doing for him, creating myths about Mitt. I was reminded of that when I hear my state's ex-governor, Tim Pawlenty* talk about Mitt and lying about Mitt and his qualities or qualification for POTUS.

(* Pawlenty is also great at pandering, flip flops and his own myth creation. He did an excellent job of doing any of these (his) skills previously in elected office and long before he started to work for Mitt).

Mitt Romney's Blind Trust Not So Blind

When Mitt Romney faced questions on the campaign trail four years ago about investments in firms engaged in embryonic stem cell research, the presidential candidate had a ready explanation -- he was unaware because his vast financial portfolio was under the control of an independent trustee. Last week, Romney's campaign pulled out the same explanation when ABC News sought details about the candidate's holdings in the Cayman Islands, a notorious offshore tax haven.

"We remind you that Gov. Romney does not choose anything; these are BLIND TRUSTS," a campaign official wrote in an email.

But government ethics experts and election lawyers told ABC News that Romney's trust might not be quite as blind as he has long maintained. That's because Romney placed his quarter-billion dollar family fortune in the hands of his personal lawyer and longtime associate Bradford Malt.

    Just for everyone to know:

*** Romney’s fundraising asterisk: Although we won’t learn all the details and apples-to-apples comparisons until the FEC reports are due on July 20, here’s what we do know about the presidential money race: For the second-straight month, Team Romney (campaign/RNC/victory fund) outraised Team Obama (campaign/DNC/victory fund), $106 million to $71 million. But there’s an important asterisk to some of this money that folks are forgetting. Romney can’t spend any campaign contributions earmarked for the general election until after his party’s convention in late August. So if one donor gives Romney the maximum contribution to the campaign ($2,500 for the primaries, $2,500 for the general), Romney can spend the first $2,500 now -- but can’t spend the second until September. The Romney camp even admitted this in a memo it released yesterday morning. “[W]e are only allowed to spend primary dollars from now through the convention,” the memo stated. So if you want to know how Romney could be raising more overall money but still be outspent in advertising, here’s your answer.

*** The danger of jumping to conclusions: We want to make an additional point about the money race: Way too many people are jumping to conclusions right now. What appears to be going on is that Romney -- since becoming his party’s presumptive presidential nominee -- is grabbing the big checks from his party (up to $75,000 per donor that goes to the campaign, RNC, and victory fund). If he can keep up this pace in July and August, then we know he has a financial juggernaut on his hands. But if the pace slows down, then you know that his campaign has picked all the low-hanging fundraising fruit. Another thing to keep in mind: While the Romney camp controls the RNC and victory-fund money, there are strings attached to those dollars. (For example: In this presidential contest, coordinated party expenditures are limited to $21.7 million.) And here’s one other point to make: It’s likely that Obama’s June campaign-only haul isn’t far off from the $54 million it raised in June ’08. Those comparisons for the remaining months will be important. Both campaigns are pursuing DIFFERENT financial strategies. Team Obama is going for maximum spending FLEXIBILITY and because they didn’t have to spend primary money on a primary, they have that luxury. Team Romney is looking for maximum fundraising capacity, but it comes with more strings on how much of the money they are raising can be spent on TV advertising.

I have lately -- the past year or so -- participated in a GroupOn deal offered by a salon in Portland that was for a mani/pedi for only $38.00. We signed up, and the salon agreed to continue asking for that reduced rate when we indicated we wanted to come back for repeat visits.

Ordinarily a mani/pedi is closer to $65-$75 in Portland, probably MUCH more in the tony places in LA or on Long Island in the Hamptons.

So, since we've been paying only $38 each visit, we've been tipping our manicurists $20 each instead of 15-20%.

Madame Range Rover should be tipping her manicurist at least $50, but I'll bet it's a LOT less than that.

(If he'd done it just once, you could write it off as just the disrespectful prattling of a little man some describe as "a cocky mosquito buzzing confidently amongst a herd of elephants". But when he makes the claim twice, it simply must be taken unquestionably as fact. Otherwise, why else would he say it?)

Before you dismiss this assessment, consider the following: Ben Quayle, in addition to being the heir to the long reigning, mighty Quayle Political Dynasty, is the author of a critically acclaimed, unprecedented 44 volume exhaustive history of each of the American presidents in graphic novel format. (I personally re-read the entire 32 page collector's edition of "Buchanan! The Man And His Nation" every year on the anniversary of our 25th president's birth sometime in August or early March.) Quayle also wrote "Dog Catcher, The History of Municipal Animal Control" and "Great Caesar's Ghost! The Invention of Tongs and the Tossed Salad Revolution".

So you can see, this guy isn't just some rich douchebag. He's got serious political, historical and authorical credentials. (Ironically, tho, he did publish an early memoir entitled "I'm Just A Rich Douchebag: My Life So Far" but supporters and detractors alike acknowledge it was a youthful indiscretion best left unread and unheralded, much as it was by virtually everyone at the time of its publication)

With the election now handily won by Amercia's lovable mega-rich merry prankster, Mittens Rmoney, I hope everybody can stop worrying about politics and enjoy the rest of the summer and coming autumn. I, for one, welcome our new Mormon overloads.

    1. Beldar my love, I hastened to Amazon to see if there were any penny copies of "I'm Just a Rich Douchebag" to add to the Casa Biscuitbarrel's "Worst of Washington" shelf.

Curses! No! There are, however, penny copies of Dan Quayle's "Standing Firm," for anyone with an annoying brother-in-law to remember this holiday season.

However! Fifth on the page with "Standing Firm" is a book entitled, "Justin Bieber: Test Your Super-Fan Status" by Gabrielle Reyes and Zoe Quayle. I don't know if Zoe is a member of the Hoosier Hotshot's family, but my eyebrows went up (if she is) that her family let her collaborate with a Hispanic person and let her name go FIRST.

      Faithfully yours, MrsTBB

MrsTBB, first, two thumbs up for an outstanding nomme d'blog and B, I've read "Standing Firm" and I assure you, 'it's not what you think and it's NOT for the faint of heart. Look, I'm no prude and I congratulate the author for rising - so to speak - from the depraved life of a male prostitute with history's worst case of priapism - hence the title - to the semi-heights of a laughingstock political career but really... talk about too much information. Shudder...

No BIL could be so annoying as to deserve this book as a gift. As an alternative, may I suggest the leg lamp from A Christmas Story or a World's Stinkiest Cheese of The Month Club subscription.

"Would it be in poor taste if I put it on my front bumper?"

Personally, yes, I like that look, but euphemisms aside, really, who am I to tell you how to dress?

Gryphen, hey, yeah, we are the LITTLE GUYS who don't have BIG MONEY, but we have BIG HEARTS and love our country, the good ole USA!! Yeah, we have our problems, but we're ALL in it together and need to look out for each other. These guys with BIG MONEY don't give a rat's butt about us little guys, and it's about time that we little ones start getting out there and show those stinking idiots that they will NOT be able to take over the USA, and that their puppet, Romney, is not getting into the White House! Elect Romney, and you will elect the wealthiest, the Koch Bros, Karl Rove, Grover Norquist, and huge corporations that have sent US jobs overseas! They made their money here, but they say - screw you - we can make more money overseas and screw America! Find out what products they make and don't buy them!

Romney stinks, and would never look out for US! Don't elect him and put him in the White House!

I have to wonder why Romney is unwilling to produce his tax returns now. He gave the McCain campaign 23 years of tax returns when they were vetting him for VP in 2008.

And they went with Sarah Palin.

I keep going back to something Lewis Black said in one of concerts back during the Bush years: he said that he didn't used to understand how something like the French Revolution could happen, but after what began to go down with some of these 1 percenters and their fraud at the time - and this was before the bubble burst - he understood why. He just didn't understand what no longer kept people from rising up to deal with them.
I'm having one of those feelings these days too.
What we are witnessing is an absolute coup d'etat of what is left of our representative democracy by corporate and conservative interests. The Republicans keep accusing us of waging class warfare, but they've been waging a war of attrition on us for well over a decade. One of their key, early successes was the de-regulation of banks. If we don't keep Obama in office AND put more progressives or genuine Democrats in office nationally and locally, we're in BIG TROUBLE, people. I am very worried about our fate as a country. The rich don't care about us, except in how we might be exploited.

Ladies! (and gents, not that there is anything wrong with that) Don't buy anymore Revlon products. We'll show Mr. Hoity Toity Ron Perelman who's boss!! He'll be begging in the streets when his income dries up from loss of Revlon sales.

Yeah, he pals around with "Elites", This publicity was perfectly timed, after his "Vacation" with "The Watercraft" last week.
He just doesn't get it, and he never will.

Thurston Howell and Lovey, at least, had personality, were characters on a television show, were entertaining and could look directly at the camera while delivering their lines.
