Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey

A little something for the Teabaggers to keep in mind.
Here's something interesting I learned recently from Harry Shearer...the Iraqi constitution, which I believe America had a hand in crafting, includes all kinds of wonderful rights and freedoms that seem to be slipping away from us on a daily basis: universal healthcare, free education, religious freedom, minimum wage, the right to join labor unions, even the right to work, etc.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraqi_Constitution
I wonder how the Teabaggers would spin this if they only knew. Since they're too uninspired to look beyond their own backyards, they'll probably never know.
Ummm, no. Not unless people in the middle class suddenly have the funds to live off investment income and can benefit from the capital gains tax. Which they can't. Learn how the system works (for the rich).
Obama is not forcing poor people to pay for healthcare. The ACA provides affordable (see, the first "A" in "ACA" stands for affordable) healthcare. Now, if you're really that destitute, you'll probably be able to get Medicaid or end up paying very little for your HC insurance. Protip: Go read about the ACA and turn off FOX News, Limbaugh and stop visiting WND.com & the Breitbart sites.
Don't rely on what anyone TELLS you what to think, go research and read it yourself.
Now, would you like to talk about Obama's citizenship and whether or not he's a Muslim Socialist Marxist Communist Dictator set out to impose Sharia Law on the US?
By the way... weren't we all supposed to have been indoctrinated into Obama's "brown shirt militia" by now? And living in FEMA camps? Whatever happened to those big plans?
Awwww... damn....I see Baldy was hitting that bottle as Lionel Richie said..."All Night Lonnggg"!
Listen alkie...take your METH pipe and stick it where the sun don't shine and then take a swig of your vodka... and while you're at it STFU and go sleep it off!
Most Americans continue to disapprove of Obama's handling of the economy. More than half fault him on health care and immigration. Sixty-three percent say the country's headed in the wrong direction. He's losing swing-voting independents by a record 14 percentage points.
Now let's finish that little tidbit of information, shall we?
According to ABC News pollster, Gary Langer, 63 percent of Americans say the country’s headed in the wrong direction. Nevertheless, Americans by 58-34 percent margin predict that President Obama will ultimately to defeat Mitt Romney in November.
But nothing is set in stone.
–”One in five of Romney’s current supporters, and one in six of Obama’s, say there’s a chance they could change their mind and support the other candidate. Very few, though, say there’s a ‘good chance’ they could shift — a mere 4 percent of Obama’s supporters, 8 percent of Romney’s.”
–”That suggests that more than changing minds, the contest likely is to be about motivating turnout — and here Obama has an edge. Among registered voters, half of his supporters (51 percent) are ‘very’ enthusiastic, vs. 38 percent of Romney’s.”
There, feel better?
It's an ABC News/Washington Post Poll that came out today, and is being "cherry picked" for talking points, like our friend Einstein here is doing. Link: http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/07/a-midsummer-races-theme-dead-heat-the-note/
2:39 and 3:49 WTF do you get to go out to the day room on the hour?
give it up of you skinny emancipated queen of DUH or is this TAWD--the soon to be gay divorcee on 'break' from getting his ass kicked by some 'real' soldiers
Anon at 5:49 am. Thank you. If the anons at 2:39 and 3:49 am had any sense, they would have read the post and agreed that President Obama has nothing in common with either the Communists or the Fascists, both groups he has been labeled as by the ignorant Republican and Teabagger masses. Anyone want to contemplate fascism here in the US: just think about what the Koch Brothers are spending so prodigiously to produce. If the infamous Koch brothers wanted to have political power, they should have run for office. At least then, they could not be faceless and the public would have some idea of what nastiness they truly want for this country.
What's very interesting -- and the saddest thing of all -- is that the people who argue that the rich pay higher taxes, that poor people already have health care, that there's nothing wrong with out health care system, that President Obama represents communist government, are NOT the rich, but the middle class.
People who know nothing about _Stalin_, don't even really know who the historical figure is, talk as if they do.
Ordinary average people talk about the ACLU, when they've never even heard of it outside of a slanted church sermon, much less know what it does.
Ordinary average competent employed Alaskans who drive nice vehicles, hold good jobs, homeowners, talk about everything under the sun, when they have no formal knowledge of any of it. Never looked it up on the computer or read a book on the subject.
That shocks me. This is a lesson I would rather not have had. As a group, as a society of adults, we are woefully and dramatically ignorant. Lacking real information about the world.
This week we've been talking about Jim Thorpe and the fact that he remains the only American in history to win both the decathalon and the pentathlon. NOT ONE person KNEW who Jim Thorpe was. No one had even HEARD of him. How is that possible. We're not talking about athletic scores or knowing who Olympic athletes are; this is about being familiar with historical figures and critical events that shaped our country.
Global warming? Not a new concept. My science teacher schooled us on it in 1973/74 in an Alaskan elementary school. Does anyone remember the alarm in the 70s about the 'hole in the ozone layer' and why CFCs in spray cans of deodorant needed to be eliminated?
Maybe quit with the "ignorant Teabaggers" meme. It's _everybody_. This isn't about having strong political opinions. This is about having INFORMATION.
Everybody, check yourself. >> Do you know who Jim Thorpe is? >> Do you know when, where and why Custer's Last Stand happened? >> Do each of you with an opinion here today, actually know what time period Stalin was in power, what the government was, and how it came to be? Do you know who the Russian leader was before and after Stalin? >> Do you know what happened to Hitler? >> Do you know what years World War I and World War II happened, what year they ended, and how they ended? >> Do you know what four faces are carved into Mount Rushmore, and why?
These are simple easy historical factoids that require no thought. If you don't know, you should.
In the mid 70s, there was a rock band that did pretty well. EVERYONE has heard their Top-Forty song, "Come and Get Your Love." It still plays on the radio. It was on American Bandstand and Soul Train - http://youtu.be/bQon0twgIio
They had another hit song - #1 on European charts. The U.S. music industry withheld it from release and then radio stations banned it. http://youtu.be/LwQ-y47ROaU
It's about having the information. Actually knowing.
I love the graphic, it has Stalin on it, and we all know how much they love to drive the "President Obama is a Socialist" meme, and we know they're fed the rwnj pablum from Fox etc, but the difference is obvious.
I caught this on Reddit, and it leads me to believe that real working class people are "getting it" as more and more information about the AFA gets disseminated.
"I am a registered Republican, and never voted for a Democratic president. I am prepared to vote for President Obama for his reelection and here’s why"
snip
"I support Obama in his efforts to change this about our healthcare system. I have had insurance, I have not had a period of time over the last 10 years where I have not had insurance. I have been with BCBS for at least two years, and now they are writing down that they will not cover “any disease or disorder relating to a thyroid gland”...
