Fuck that I'd rather walk.
Well at least they got rid of those ridiculous prayer cards. Though to be honest perhaps their passengers would feel safer if they put them back if this is the extent of their attention to plane maintenance.
You can read more about this over at Reddit.
I hope Sarah uses them on her final trip home after Tampa.

But think about it -- Ballas too was calling people 'Haters'. He's an adopted Palin. He didn't learn the first time but a second go -- he's desperate to tank his career for spewing 'hate' -- Just like them!!

DeleteI've always been fairly well-satisfied with my trips on Alaska Airlines. I live near Seattle so I've flown many times with them.
ReplyDeleteMy personal favorite is Hawaiian Airlines. They're generally on time, the planes are clean, plus you get free food. Or maybe I just like them because I board one, sit for 5-6 hours, and then step out into the beautiful sunshine of Honolulu. It's great therapy for my seasonal affective disorder when my light-box isn't enough to counteract our dark winter days.
Yup, me also, too. I flew many years with them, always a pleasant experience.
Deleteuhm...this is maintenance's way of telling ground crews at the destination that this has already been noted and is scheduled for repair. Each flight crew inspects the plane and the paperwork of duplicate 'gripes' creates a roadblock to getting things fixed.
ReplyDeleteYou're blowing this out of proportion....it wasn't intended for passengers.
Seriously dude, I like it better when you focus on what you're good at, pulling the curtain back on the sideshow that is Palin.
Thank you for posting this Anonymous 8:16. Normally maintenance crews will put a post-it note on items that need to be repaired or have been repaired. This is just an unfortunate fluke.
DeleteG, you have your own opinions about Alaska Airlines but putting this obvious low-intelligent rambling about them is not your best genre.
Keep to Sarah Palin's misadventures and you will keep people keep coming back to your blog. Also, keep in mind, many people earn their living with said airline, including this one.
Just sayin'...not your best post.
They should color code it. It´s a good thing passengers don´t know how to read, because this sort of thing could easily be mistaken for apathy and ¨don´t give a shitness¨ to what the public may think.
DeleteOkay, calm down. That is the repair. See how smooth the edges are? See the discoloration of the metal where they welded the fill-in along the inside of the curve? The repair has not been painted yet. The note was to other ground crews that the aircraft log already contains notes about the repair. The note is to stop other airports from wasting time reporting this over and over again. It's comparable to driving your car with a bent bumper with a piece missing. Flying is still the safest way to get anywhere.

DeleteShe'll be front and center at her mall rental space -- close to the convention and accessible by the media.
They can fix the wing ... but they will never get the stench of Sarah out of the planes she has been in.
ReplyDelete8:16 if you were trying to be helpful it didnt work . There should be a hell of a better way of ground crew and maintenance communicating with each other to make sure they dont miss problems. As someone once asked AA: if they miss SarAh being Gusty size pregnant post 9/11, what the hell else do they miss? They need to weite each other notes to point out the obvious?
ReplyDeleteRe: DWTS pairing:
ReplyDeleteBallas did a good job compensating for Bristol's lack of improvement and creatively compensated with gimmicks (monkey suits, stripping his shirt, lame ribbon dancing etc.). Ballas choreographed around her which made her look better. He kept Bristol's steps simple while he performed almost enough for two dancers. As a partner Ballas appeared to be sincere that as partners Bristol experience success and their dances provide entertainment despite little improvement in her part.
They capitalized on SP's popularity and Bristol as a victim which I found to be an unfair advantage to the contestants. That golden child bashing Levi video was nauseating and unfair advantage also manipulating she got knocked up and she is not to blame, how she suffers now, special unlike any other pregnant teen or young single mom (cue
violins).
Ballas is a hard worker and manipulating people while obviously doing the least due to entitlement, gaining massive weight whining about haters works. Others go above and beyond overcoming obstacles Bristol created. Afterward Bristol paid a surgeon to fix her. I expect a repeat, doubt she will prepare, practice prior, her family and employees will be her attendents while she whines and lies how independent she is alternatung with how she suffers.
Hope Ms. Victim gets what she earns and deserves like any one else.
I fly about one a year Outside for our early spring vacation to the Islands. Always have flown AK Air, and I've really noticed the downgrade in comfort, percs, personnel, etc. in the past 15 years. I recently had to go Outside to a place that AK Air doesn't service and flew Delta instead. Wow! What a difference. I was seriously surprised by how much more comfortable and better run Delta seemed to be than AK Airlines.

Paul Ryan traded on insider information to avoid 2008 crash
ReplyDeleteIt should probably come as no surprise to anyone that someone like Paul Ryan would trade on inside information gained through his position as a congressman to line his pockets, but this particular instance is especially egregious. Ryan attended a closed meeting with congressional leaders, Bush's Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke on September 18, 2008. The purpose of the meeting was to disclose the coming economic meltdown and beg Congress to pass legislation to help collapsing banks.
Instead of doing anything to help, Ryan left the meeting and on that very same day Paul Ryan sold shares of stock he owned in several troubled banks and reinvested the proceeds in Goldman Sachs, a bank that the meeting had disclosed was not in trouble. This is the guy Republicans want one heartbeat away from the presidency? He seems more than a little shady to me.
Have a look at Ryan's financial disclosure form for 2008--you can click on each page to enlarge them. The "Transactions" section begins on page 12--scroll through and look at all the trades Paul Ryan made on "9-18-08":

I never fly in and out of Juneau on Alaska Air unless I have a free ticket. They have been ripping the people of Southeast Alaska off for years so they can give the good fares to the people down south and still brag about their bottom line. The ferry trip is long and fairly boring, but that's what I do.

What other airline flies out of Anchorage with any regularity?
ReplyDeleteAlso, technically AK is not "their" state. Alaska Airlines/Alaska Air Group is based out of Seattle.
Obviously you don't know the history of Alaska Airlines. It is a consolidation of many ALASKAN-BASED bush airlines throughout the years, specifically starting in 1932 - and it is a wonderful history of how ALASKAN PILOTS made the airline to what it is today.
DeleteThe reason Alaska Airlines is based in SEATTLE is simple. It's easier to manage as say if it were based in Anchorage; it saves money by training flight crews in one central location, not to mention maintenance costs. Think how much is would cost to constantly transfer pilots, heavy maintenance checks, and a million other costs entailed if Anchorage was their main base of operations.
It's a good airline. It has survived de-regulation for one thing of which two other airlines I worked for - didn't. To those living in the 'bush' and complain about air fares, you have other options for smaller (bush) airlines - but obviously you knew that when you moved there, right? I thought so. Also, Alaska Airlines has instituted a program specifically for Alaskans who travel by air within the state. Club 49 - check it out.

Obviously you don't know the history of Alaska Airlines. It started in 1932 with the consolidation of many ALASKAN-BASED bush airlines flown by ALASKAN PILOTS.
DeleteThe reason the airline is based in Seattle is simple logistics. It is much easier to operate from a central location at their biggest hub (Seattle) and saves untold costs in flight crew training and heavy maintenance checks for starters. Think how much it would cost to continually transfer these crews and airplanes scheduled for maintenance constantly to Anchorage. So Seattle is where its corporate and other main facilities are located. Makes sense.
Alaska Airlines is a great airline if you think about it - it survived deregulation in 1978 of which the other two airlines I worked for - didn't. It never laid off one employee after 9/11 when tens of thousands of other airline employees were given the boot. Yes, it has had accidents - name me ONE U.S. based air carrier that hasn't had an accident.
To those who live in the Bush, you DO have other options flying - but you knew that when you moved there, no? And BTW, Alaska Airlines has a program specifically for Alaskans to help save money. Here's the link in case you're interested:

FYI - Paul Ryan Facts:
ReplyDeleteHe is a Rep in Congress representing a district of very small proportions. The population of his district isn't much different than the population of the State of Alaska. Also note the population of the 'Major' cities in his district!! Yea -- Really. Also note the voting numbers -- You can get elected as a Congressional lifer aka Washington Insider with 179,000 votes and expect to be VP of USofA. Not in my books.
Wisconsin 1st Congressional District
Population (2010) - 728,042
Ethnicity:
86.8% - White
5.4% - Black
1.7% - Asian
9.0% Hispanic
0.4% Native American
Other ????
These are classified as the 'Major' Cities in the district (2010 Census population). I call them 'don't blink or you'll miss them':
Kenosha - 99,218 (grew 9.8% from 2000)
Racine - 78,860 (decreased 3.7% from 2000)
Janesville - 63,122 (pt.)
Greenfield - 36,705 (pt.)
Franklin - 35,451
Oak Creek - 34,451
2010 District Election History
68.2% - 179,819 votes - Paul Ryan (R)
30.1% - 79,363 votes - John Heckenlively (D)
1.6% - 4,311 votes - Joseph Kexel (LIBERT)
2008 Election History
64% - 231,009 votes - Paul Ryan
34.7% - 125,268 votes - Marge Krupp (D)
1.3% - 4,606 votes - Joseph Kexel (LIBERT)
Not to insult anyone in a small district but I say this in the sense of 'true experience' as 728,042 is not experience enough to be on the national stage. To a person in a heavily populated city of millions (me) is that Ryan is not someone experienced or worthy to shine my shoes in that he's a rep in what we would can a 'blip' on a map with that population. Group together some condos/apartment buildings and you have his whole district population!! It's only the size in area of the district that keeps him in there - 1,679.95 mi².
Ryan talks big like he's from a 'big' district -- Truly -- He's a hick!! In size -- he's no different than Palin!!!
Good information.
DeleteYes, I was always amazed at McCain acting like Sarah had experience. When you looked at the numbers, she was mayor of a very small village..hardly big enough to be a "town" in the lower 48... and then went on to be governor of a state with fewer people that a huge number of cities. She was an unqualified hick and look at what a great pick she turned out to be for him.
Until people look at the numbers like the population and size of 'cities' -- they would have no idea about his district size. These numbers sure shed a different light on Ryan as he 'talks a big game' but comes from a 'little baby' district!!
DeleteIf you based 1 rep on every the same population as Ryan - just in NYC, think of the mega number of Reps needed for NYC alone!!
Thanks for the info. Save for use elsewhere as in 'passing it on'!!
Build That...I'm Mitt Romney

Paul Ryan pick is less popular than Palin, Cheney selections, poll shows
ReplyDeleteRep. Paul Ryan starts his vice presidential campaign in not-so-great territory, with Americans rating his selection more unfavorably than any pick since at least 2000, according to a new poll.

Romney Picks the One Guy Who Most Wants to Lower His Taxes
ReplyDeleteIn the Republican presidential nominee, Democrats have the embodiment of the rich guy who pays lower taxes than you, and in the Republican vice-presidential nominee, they have the face of the plan to let the rich guy pay even lower taxes than he is already. Mitt Romney gave Paul Ryan a funny look when Ryan started talking about closing tax shelters during their first interview as running mates with CBS's Bob Schieffer. When Schieffer asked whether their budget plans would tax wealthy people at a lower rate, Ryan said, "What we're saying is take away the tax shelters that are uniquely enjoyed by people in the top tax brackets so they can't shelter as much money from taxation, should lower tax rates for everybody to make America more competitive." He was sitting next to the most famous employer of tax shelters in America.
Of course, Romney wasn't looking at Ryan like that because he was uncomfortable with the thought of losing the ability to store money in the Cayman Islands (for the record, the Romney campaign says Romney did not lower his tax bill by putting his money in the Caymans or Switzerland). Under Ryan's plan, Romney's tax rate would go down to less than 1 percent. In one of the primary debates, Romney said he paid all the taxes he owed, and not a dollar more. By picking Ryan, it's like Romney was again shopping around for the best way to pay the least amount of taxes.

Nine Nobel Peace prize winners said Monday that NBC must “immediately” drop a planned “reality” show called “Stars Earn Stripes,” where former four-star general and one-time Democratic presidential candidate Wesley Clark sends celebrities on military-style training “missions” to entertain viewers.
ReplyDeleteSigners of an open letter to the network include Nobelists Desmond Tutu, Dr. Shirin Ebadi, Adolfo Perez Esquivel, Jose Ramos-Horta, Jody Williams, Mairead Maguire, Oscar Arias Sanchez, Rigoberta Menchu and Betty Williams.
“That might seem innocuous since spectacular, high budget sporting events of all types are regular venues for airing new products, televisions shows and movies,” the Nobelists’ letter explains. “But ‘Stars Earn Stripes’ is not just another reality show. Hosted by retired four-star general Wesley Clark, the program pairs minor celebrities with US military personnel and puts them through simulated military training, including some live fire drills and helicopter drops. The official NBC website for the show touts ‘the fast-paced competition’ as ‘pay[ing] homage to the men and women who serve in the U.S. Armed Forces and our first-responder services.’
“It is our belief that this program pays homage to no one anywhere and continues and expands on an inglorious tradition of glorifying war and armed violence. Military training is not to be compared, subtly or otherwise, with athletic competition by showing commercials throughout the Olympics. Preparing for war is neither amusing nor entertaining.”
The Nobel Women’s Initiative added that the group is supporting a protest in New York City on Monday night at 5 p.m. outside the NBC building in Rockefeller Plaza.
“The long history of collaboration between militaries and civilian media and entertainment—and not just in the United States—appears to be getting murkier and in many ways more threatening to efforts to resolve our common problems through nonviolent means,” they wrote. “Active-duty soldiers already perform in Hollywood movies, “embedded” media ride with soldier in combat situations, and now NBC is working with the military to attempt to turn deadly military training into a sanitized ‘reality’ TV show that reveals absolutely nothing of the reality of being a soldier in war or the consequences of war. What is next?”
