Courtesy of the LA Times:
Pretty soon, the only songs Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan might be able to play will be the collected works of Hank Williams Jr. and Ted Nugent, at least judging by a statement Dee Snider made Wednesday morning.
After learning that Republican vice presidential hopeful Ryan had been warming up crowds with "We're Not Gonna Take It," the lead singer of Twisted Sister requested that the song be pulled from Ryan's playlist.
"I emphatically denounce Paul Ryan's use of my song 'We're Not Gonna Take It' as recorded by my band Twisted Sister. There is almost nothing on which I agree with Paul Ryan, except perhaps the use of the P90X."
This of course comes after Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello also denounced Romeny's VP pick after learning that the candidate was a Rage fan; and after L.A. band Silversun Pickups complained about Ryan's use of their song "Panic Switch."
Look SOMEBODY needs to tell Ryan that if he is looking for a band who will NOT complain about his use of their songs, he needs to start checking out honky-tonks and redneck wedding receptions.
By the way for those who may not have ever heard Twisted Sister, below is their video from "We're Not Gonna Take It." You tell me if Ryan does not seem to have much more in common with the father (Played by Animal House alum Mark Metcalf), than he does with the young protagonist.
God that almost makes me miss the 80's. (Yeah, not really!)
Paul Ryan, I oughta slap your fat face...
ReplyDeleteSarah would want to be on your tag-team against Lyin Ryan if she could punch him in the neck. She doesn't go for the emasculation until round 2, which Ryan might not even last past round 1.
DeleteRyan is a nerd. He wants to be included, but they don’t want him.
ReplyDeleteNormally, they would preserve his feelings, but THIS IS TOO IMPORTANT!
Since when is not telling the voters what you stand for something to be prideful of? "We're not going to talk" might be altogether appropriate for their campaign, but good for Twisted Sister for saying "Hell to the no!"
ReplyDeleteSince he was named 'the biggest brown noser' by his graduating class, it's clear that his peers hated him. He surely qualifies as the biggest nose in the class but it implies that he was a back stabber as well. The women will send him back to the last century where this total misanthrope belongs!
ReplyDeleteWhat is it with Repub1%can'ts and their inability to ask for PERMISSION to use songs?
ReplyDeleteI think they should just as Ted Nugent for a playlist of his songs and stick to that.
I'm not sure the heirs of Hank Williams Jr. would allow his songs to be used either.
In the voice of Hank Williams Jr: "Are you ready for some Flip-flops!!"
DeleteI know, right? Why don't they ask first? They act like they are "entitled" to them. Assholes.
DeleteFuck those intellectual-property-stealing bastards! They don't wanna pay for jack-shit, do they? Bunch of assholes. All of em. Any of em.
DeleteWhile Twisted Sister can REQUEST they stop playing their music, they don't own the rights. The record company does. Ryan got permission from the record company and will continue to use the music.
DeleteLink?
DeleteIt's incredibly obnoxious of him to ignore the request of the artist. What a jerk
DeleteThey can use My Name is Luca, Voices Carry, Janie's Got a Gun, Runaway Train, Skin Trade. . .any of em, all of em songs that speak for the millions of people used, abused and neglected by the system of which they rule.
ReplyDeleteAnother Day in Paradise should be played at every GOP event.
DeleteBut knowing the GOP, it'll play Rock and Roll Part 2 by Gary Glitter right before a Ted Nugent medley.
How about "Paved Paradise"?
DeleteFuckin' A, G-man.
ReplyDeleteWhere's the beef in the GOP, dude? I pity the fools. The repugs can kiss my ass and while they're down there, they can say hello to my little friend!
I love the 80's. Farm out! Right Arm!
The Vulture/Voucher 2012 ticket should play songs about the one thing that matters to them most...money!

bad photoshop
DeleteOh my, Brisket's face is misshapen. ***
Delete*** Vocab word of the day for the baggers:
Misshapen- (adj.)
1. Badly shaped.
2. Deformed.
3. Legitimately Fucked Up.
I think Beefy was attempting a pout...but the chin implant was not cooperating!
DeleteShe still got those tree trunk legs though! LOL!!
I've come to the realization that are ZERO talented actors, musicians, bands or comedians that consider themselves republican. It's the party of losers.
ReplyDeleteSarah is Creepy Chucky Junior's Legitimate Twisted Sister.
ReplyDeleteHypocrisy, they name is Sarah Palin
ReplyDeleteWatch Sarah Palin condemn Biden for his “in chains” remark then one week later use the same remark herself and say Obama is putting children in chains. Sometimes I’n not sure she even hears herself.

I hate to be a buzz kill, but I have to share this article:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.dailycamera.com/news/ci_21372873/cu-boulder-study-predicts-win-mitt-romney-general
I have not had any doubts President Obama would win another term, but this has me worried.
Thoughts?
Still buzzed here, Cheryl. I'll take Nate Silver's analysis of polling data in his NYT 538 blog. I'll review the CU study later when I can take time toook at all of the assumptions, sampling methodology, etc. CO is definitely a tale of two strong personalities of conservatives and progressives, not entirely divided geographically. Similar in that regard to NC. Either or both could go either way in this election without affecting the overall outcome. Their electoral votes are important to Obama but absolutely critical to Romney.
DeleteThere has been no appreciable movement in the gap in "polls of polls" between Romney and Obama for the past 5 months. For Romney to overtake Obama, something heretofore unseen must happen. Possible, but not likely. R/R have nothing to draw the Independents and Blue Dogs toward the GOP this election.
With such strong appeal to Hispanic, A/A, and now solid majority of Women voters, the GOP can only hope to win by having a huge Rep turnout, an artificially low Dem turnout, and beating Obama between a 3:2 and a 2:1 ratios. R/R will approach 3:2 with white men, but will fall short of covering the gaps in the swing states needed to win an electoral majority.
Strictly my opinions based on my own analysis, not emotion or magical/wishful thinking. In the end, I might be wrong, but as of today, there is a preponderance of evidence in the statistical data that supports Obama leading outside the margin of error in all but a handful of outliers. If these are early changes in trends and not anomalies, these outliers will begin to show up in all of the other polling data. We'll see what happens.
Nate Silver totally called out that CU study tonight on Twitter, said it was off. Did it on a series of 5 tweets. Check out his feed.
DeleteThanks, anon. Too many variables in an isolated study to assign meaning in a dynamic situation like a campaign conducted over a fairly lengthy period. Using scientific method alone to check to see if similar results are achievable using same techniques disqualified results in many studies because of unrecognized bias, poor control or filtering of outlying data, sampling errors, or weak construction of questions relative to evaluative criteria.
DeleteI read somewhere that said Ryan was good looking! Sorry, but I think he looks goofy! And, he is proving to be a horrid liar just like Romney. They will NEVER be elected!!!
ReplyDeleteOBAMA/BIDEN 2012
Brown-nose Lyin' Ayan Rand Paul Ryan looks just like Eddie Munster, who was cute but he was also like 10 yrs old on Rhe Munsters. Siince he's 42 yrs old, the only adult that thinks he's cute is Todd Palin. It's no coincidence that Sarah's ass is about as flat as a 10 yr old boy.
Deletethe caricature makes him look like Reagan.
DeleteHow is it that the business does not understand copyright laws?
ReplyDeleteMake that party of business, sorry.
ReplyDeletewhy is it that the repubs are repeatedly told not to use the artists songs? is it the whole idea that repubs think they can use anyone's art for their personal gain or they're just too stupid to know better? either way, it demonstrates that they're fucking STUPID and have no place to be governing over the lives of others.
ReplyDeleterepublicans are ignorant fucks!
May I suggest "This Ones For The Girls" by Martina McBride?
ReplyDeleteRyan looks like one of those little Troll dolls.
ReplyDeleteSomeone earlier pointed out how few artists of ANY kind seem to support the rightwing extremists who have taken over the Republican Party.
ReplyDeleteI really noticed this in the case of comedians. I used to find Dennis Miller quite brilliant, and loved his "rants."
Since he became a shill of the corporatists, nothing he says even brings a slight smile to my face, anymore. How truly sad.
Others who try to sound funny as they spew hatred for minorities, women, smart people, and young people, are even more pathetic.
Republicans cannot seem to spell, cannot sing worth shit, and have zero sense of humor.
Love it! Dee Snider went to my high school on Long Island. Go Dee!
ReplyDeleteI think that The Osmonds' "Just Like a Yo-Yo" is the quintessential Romney/Ryan campaign song. I'm sure they'd have no troubles getting the rights to it.
