"This is how we feed animals" RNC attendee throws nuts at black CNN camera woman. Update!

Last night this tweet showed up on David Shuster's Twitter account:

So TPM decided to check and see if Shuster was accurate. He was:

The CNN official declined to confirm specific details of the incident to TPM but generally confirmed an account posted on Twitter by former MSNBC and Current anchor David Shuster: “GOP attendee ejected for throwing nuts at African American CNN camera woman + saying ‘This is how we feed animals.’”

It is not clear whether the alleged culprit was a delegate or attending the convention in some other capacity.

In a written statement, CNN addressed the matter but divulged few details: “CNN can confirm there was an incident directed at an employee inside the Tampa Bay Times Forum earlier this afternoon. CNN worked with convention officials to address this matter and will have no further comment.”

TPM’s calls to RNC and convention officials were not immediately returned.

Good to know that all of those accusations of racism within the Republican party are unfounded, don't you think?

Update: The RNC has issued a statement:

“Yesterday two attendees exhibited deplorable behavior. Their conduct was inexcusable and unacceptable. This kind of behavior will not be tolerated.”

Yes "not tolerated" just actively encouraged through subliminal, and not so subliminal, messages right?  Assholes!

It sure sounds good, but is there a built-in mistrust factor for undecided(???) viewers simply because it IS a fictional TV show? Where are the credible Obama supporters and surrogates making the same points?

      Thanks for sharing the link.

10 Best Quotes From Chris Christie’s Keynote Speech
Bert Atkinson Jr. August 29, 2012 9:56 am

#1 – Our founding fathers had the wisdom to know that social acceptance and popularity is fleeting and that this country’s principles needed to be rooted in strengths greater than the passions and emotions of the times. Our leaders today have decided it is more important to be popular, to do what is easy and say “yes,” rather than to say no when “no” is what’s required.

#2 – Their plan: whistle a happy tune while driving us off the fiscal cliff, as long as they are behind the wheel of power.

#3 – They believe in teacher’s unions. We believe in teachers.

#4 – It’s the power of our ideas, not of our rhetoric, that attracts people to our Party.

#5 – When there are people in the room who care more about doing the job they were elected to do than worrying about winning re-election, it’s possible to work together, achieve principled compromise and get results.

#6 – Mitt Romney will tell us the hard truths we need to hear to put us back on the path to growth and create good paying private sector jobs again in America.

Mitt Romney will tell us the hard truths we need to hear to end the torrent of debt that is compromising our future and burying our economy.

Mitt Romney will tell us the hard truths we need to hear to end the debacle of putting the world’s greatest health care system in the hands of federal bureaucrats and putting those bureaucrats between an American citizen and her doctor.

#8 – Our problems are big and the solutions will not be painless. We all must share in the sacrifice. Any leader that tells us differently is simply not telling the truth.

#9 – What will our children and grandchildren say of us? Will they say we buried our heads in the sand, we assuaged ourselves with the creature comforts we’ve acquired, that our problems were too big and we were too small, that someone else should make a difference because we can’t? Or will they say we stood up and made the tough choices needed to preserve our way of life?

I don’t know about you, but I don’t want my children and grandchildren to have to read in a history book what it was like to live in an American Century. I don’t want their only inheritance to be an enormous government that has overtaxed, overspent and over-borrowed a great people into second-class citizenship. I want them to live in a second American Century.

#10 – We have never been victims of destiny. We have always been masters of our own."

Overtaxed? Who exactly? Corporations, like the Romneys, often pay no tax, and get big refunds AND subsidies. If anyone
is paying to much, it will be the poor and middles after the GOP completes their tax reform. Mitt would LOVE to end capital gains, as that is ALL the tax he pays already. Yeah, let's let the millionaires have a free ride to their tropical islands. Where, Mr. Christie, is the shared safcrifice in that?

I don't know about you, but I don't want my children and grandchildren to read in their history books that a morbidly obese entitled new joisey governor used taxpayer funded State Police Helicopters to attend his son's pee wee league game, and only reimbursed the money because someone filmed the incident, and other parents filed complaints.

      12. I don't know about you, but I don't want my kids and grandkids to read in their history books that their morbidly obese Governor Daddy, when asked a question by a concerned female citizen, went on a diatribe which ended "If you need a job, I got your job right here" while he attempted to grab his crotch, for emphasis.

  10. This relates to welfare, even though that camera woman wouldn’t be on it:

When I was still a kid, I saw then-Governor Ronald Reagan with Johnny Carson, and they were discussing welfare. Reagan said if welfare was reformed, we could “wash the world.” I specifically remember “wash the world.” Since EVERYONE watched Johnny, and Johnny didn’t argue, this became settled fact.

President Bill Clinton reformed welfare (mothers and children), and I learned that it was never even one percent of the budget. I was stunned. After that, I stopped being a low-information voter.

  13. GOOD NEWS FROM PALIN'S ARIZONA: 2 Baggers Gagged

Here's a couple of tidbits that should make some folks around here smile this morning:

In AZ-6 US House race for GOP nomination, Ben Quayle, a freshman TeaBagger, was defeated by David Schweikert.

Quayle began was running ads in which he declared, "Two years ago I called Obama the worst president ever. I overestimated him."

Well, that's one first-term Teabagger that's "one and done" in Congress. Hopefully, the first of many.

Also, on another good note in AZ politics...

Russell Pearce, the racist bigot who while serving as AZ State Senate President, pushed through AZ 1070 Immigration bill and was later recalled, lost his primary to Bob Worsely in Mesa's AZ Dist 25.

The mostly male, ALL white contingent of silver spoon fed brats made it clear what they thought of a black woman from 3W taking one of "their" spots. Never mind that I graduated sixth in my class and put myself through school- they viewed me as inferior.

I wonder if this poor camera woman's eyes brimmed with tears as mine did, tears I willed to not spill down my cheeks because they weren't going to get the satisfaction.

I have strong emotions of empathy and sympathy for this woman, but my STRONGEST emotions are ANGER and DISBELIEF toward CNN. Who are they to PROTECT this racist SHPoS?

I wouldn't be surprised if CNN purposely stocks the camera crews with minorities just to get "good tv" when the inevitable conflicts arise as the delegates and hangers-on get more riled up and out of control.

If CNN doesn't make this right REALLY quickly, I will be done with them. DONE.

    2. Thanks, pol. It was a horrible moment in my life. I turned around before I got to my desk, knowing they were watching me, and went to the faculty lounge to call my mother who was still alive at that time. (how I would LOVE her commentary on this story)

I expected tea and sympathy but it wasn't what I got- she told me to march my ass right back in there, start packing the bananas into a bag, and as I was doing so, wave and smile at the perpetrators and shout "THANKS, you guys! Every little bit helps your grocery budget when you're a lowly intern, right?!?" And she told me I was to take the bananas home and make the most delectable banana cream pie. Then bring it back to them the next day as a "thank you" for helping with the "groceries". My mother said just as the last piece was being consumed, I was to make an offhand remark about how "they keep us SO busy here, I hope I wasn't too frazzled to read the recipe correctly! I mean, what if I had done something like melting ex-lax in the chocolate topping?! WOW, would I be embarrassed!"

Now of course I DIDN'T spike the pie- but I had a nice afternoon watching them nervously think I did.

      God, I miss my mom!
