Paul Ryan to young man asking how deregulating business will help create jobs: "Would you like some candy?"

Look I am going to give Ryan a little bit of a break here.

It must be a HUGE pain in the ass to have somebody confront you like this while you are with your family and not expecting it, however his response was SO arrogant and dismissive that it is hard to feel TOO sorry for him.

There are a number of ways in which Paul Ryan could have handled this more effectively, and asking this young man if he wants candy is certainly not one of them.

This is a little off topic, but it is interesting how much the media is going after Paul Ryan for his lying. They even nailed him on his marathon time lie. Why did Sarah Palin get such a pass? Did they learn from that? Why is it different this time?

Sara has breasts (or rubber padding at the time) and a vagina they all think they can get into (and who knows how many have as she made her way to the top?). Ryan has neither of those attributes. And he can't tongue flick either.

I think it's a few things. First, once people really understand the Ryan plan, they hate it. Most people. People with any soul to them.
Second, Sarah belittled any journalist that dared to ask any question. Her nutjob fans would also go after people with insane comments and even death threats. There is no excuse for it, but it seemed only a few were brave enough or could handle dealing with psycho Sarah and her truly ignorant fans. That's my take.
I'm GLAD they are going after his dishonesty. He disgusts me as does Romney and his wife.
Also note that we have no info really about the Ryan kids, as it should be. Compare to Sarah who used her kids as political props. Most of Romneys kids stay out of the limelight as well...

We need to keep exposing their dishonesty and how extreme the GOP platform is. Their damn plan increases the deficit and doesn't balance the budget for 20-30 years. Despite hurting EVERYONE but the wealthy. Why don't people know this?

Because nobody thought McCain-Palin had a snowball's chance in hell of winning, that's why. Sarah's purpose was to get the GOP's juices flowing, if you get my drift. She was a pole dancer of sorts, and nothing more. For some reason, Paul Ryan has the patina of braininess and expertise. This is unproven and we should not take the Tea Party/GOP's (one and the same) word for it. He just an opportunistic lucky rich guy who looks like a cartoon and even lies about his marathon skills... not to mention all the vicious lies he peppered his acceptance speech with the other night.

Chapter 5: Sarah goes to school

We were all excited, it was Sarah's first day in first grade. Sally got her up and dressed her in her best walrus skin outfit.

I cooked Sarah a hearty breakfast of eggs and moose eyeballs. Sarah ate them with a glass of fresh squeezed reindeer milk.

Sally and I shed a tear as Sarah climbed aboard the short bus.

As much as I dislike Ryan, his lies and his condescension, it seems to me that this young man's behavior was inappropriate for the venue and bordered on harassment. If it had been at a political rally or in the workplace or even if he was alone on the street then badgering would be fine, but this was while he was participating in a Labor Day parade with his family. The young man posed good questions and we all deserve to hear Ryan answer them, but not while he is walking in a parade line with his family.

      @anon 10:56: I agree and also disagree.
The young man posed good questions, he spoke politely and even his plaintive NO when asked by the arrogant man if he wanted a candy was touching in its quiet, polite sincerity and frustration.

Yes, to ask this during an ongoing parade was probably not the wisest choice, but then again, Ryan could have very easily said something to the effect: let's not hold up the parade. I will talk with you for a few moments at the end of the parade.

Please remember that politicians do not join a parade for their own enjoyment. They do it for the exposure it gives them. On Labor Day, they would join to convey the point that they care for those who fought for the workers, and he failed! The young questioner did his homework and deserved to be heard without prejudice.

      Think about it.

Ryan makes it plain that he does not give a (fill in the blank) about the "lesser citizenry". This shows just how ill equipped this socio/political climber is to serve the nation.

But he perfectly fits into the mold of those arrogant regressives who become politicians as a means of expanding their own wealth exponentially, be it by hook or by crook.

Some people have a problem walking and chewing gum at the time. Maybe we should all have to submit our questions ahead of any public appearances in order to avoid any GOTCHA questions, Sarah. Personally, Labor Day has always meant a day off, spent with the family out picnicking or in the back yard barbecuing, not marching down the middle of the commercial part of town in some politically sponsored demonstration.

Todd Palin: He's doing good. When we were filming, he said his first words. He told his older brother to quit picking on him, or something like that. And when J.W. went back to New York on one of the dark days, he said his name, so that was pretty exciting.

THE FIVE REASONS WHY ROMNEY/RYAN MUST BE DEFEATED IN 2012 – AND WHY CONSERVATIVES SHOULD HOPE THEY ARE.

The GOP must be stopped in 2012. The future of America’s ideals of democracy – and of the Republican Party itself – could well be at stake.

Contrary to how it might seem, I am not a partisan bomb thrower. Throughout most of my adulthood, I have been just as likely to vote for a Republican as for a Democrat – in local, state and national contests. I have cast my ballot in presidential races for both Republicans and Democrats. But in the last four years, the GOP has transmogrified into something ugly and vicious and, more important, something wedded to the politics of fantasy and ignorance. It has rushed so far from its moorings that I cannot conceive of voting for members of this party until, hopefully, they pull themselves back from the precipice of self-destruction, paranoia and delusion.

Today, for Republicans, up is down and front is back. Lying has become so ingrained into the conservatives’ national dialogue that they are now dangerously demagogic or, worse, severely unhinged. Blind rage at the election of Barack Obama has wrecked a once great political party. Its leaders have made so many deals with the devil in their almost pathological obsession with unseating Obama that they have pushed the GOP into its own version of political hell – unable to speak truths to their now-rabid and conspiracy-addled base and unable to right the party back onto a path of responsibility.

Only through the disinfectant of defeat can the Republicans, and the two party system, be preserved. And so, the campaign of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan must be consigned to the ash heap of history. Defeat must not only be decisive, it must be crippling. Here are five reasons why:

I don't give him a break at all. He is running for VP and he is obligated, IMO, to engage the voters and answer questions. If he wants to left alone, while running for office, then he should stay home or not run for office. In the video's I have seen of him, he always handles people that don't agree with him like the arrogant asshole that he is. I never see President Obama act this way, he is always considerate of differing views.

Madeleine Albright: 'I Can't Understand Why Any Woman Would Want To Vote For Mitt Romney'

"I'm not sure I'm going to state this exactly right," she said, sitting amidst a sea of convention-related activity and daytime wine drinkers in the Westin hotel Lobby in downtown Charlotte. "But I think there are some who believe they are actually protecting women, you know, and that it is better for women to be taken care of. I think women want to take care of themselves, and I think having a voice in how that is done is very important. And frankly, I don’t understand -- I mean, I'm obviously a card-carrying Democrat -- but I can't understand why any woman would want to vote for Mitt Romney, except maybe Mrs. Romney."

No slack from me, it's in his job description, he's in a public venue on labor day and should expect his constituents to ask questions.

I don't know when this rabid divisiveness started. Years ago, we had a property dispute with a neighbor, and my democratic reps dismissed me out of hand. The man who took the time to not only listen, but resolve the minor issue was Arlen Spector, a Republican. He didn't ask my party, he simply listened to my grievance, took my name and phone number and spared me the expense of getting a surveyor, lawyer, etc.
