Really? THIS is the choice?

You know the thing that REALLY pisses me off about this kind of thing, is that there are low information dipshits who will totally be swayed by something like this.

I think I will just sit here cradling my head in my hands for a few minutes if you don't mind.

Once again, the chuckle whacks on the fray make those of us who love Christ AND President Obama look as dumbassery oriented as they are. Gross.

Better yet, donate some time on an Obama/Biden 2012 phone bank, or, if you have it, some cash to the campaign.

The fact that the Pbots and other religious folks mockingly call Mr Obama the "messiah" or think that others worship him is detestably stupid.

Reminds me of how prejudiced and ignorant Palin and her type of far right Christian Taliban crowed really are.

Gryphen, I expect things to get heated during the campaigns but why do politicians sink to this level of attack?

I end up shaking my head and asking myself how low they can go and if they're elected to office, what kind of leadership will they present after using such vile tactics to get into office?

I'm disqusted with the outrageous, unfair and sick attacks on my president. I'd like to hear about policy, how they plan to improve the country, why they're running with specific goals.

Instead, we're subjected to this type of disqusting attacks that border on treason.

The republican party has no where to go but up. They've hit rock solid bottom in the past few years and they've convinced me beyond doubt that they are anti-american and have no respect for this country or we the people.

Whoever printed those cards for their church members are a pretty sad bunch who know nothing. These scribes and pharisees of our day are as deceived as they'll ever be. These use an election to scare their people into thinking that a vote doesn't only count on earth, but it counts to their ticket to heaven? These are truly deceived.

They never read Jesus' words. "Woe to the Scribes and Pharisees:
For they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men's shoulders, but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. But all their works they do to be seen by men. They make their phylacteries broad and enlarge the borders of their garments. They love the best places at feasts, the best seats in the synagogues, greetings in the marketplaces......"But woe to you, scribes and pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the Kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in. For you devour widows houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater damnation.

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves.

And a few more to add that Jesus declared to the hypocrites: For you pay tithe of mind and anise and cummin, and have neglacted the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone. Blind guides! Who strain out a gnat and swallow a camel. For you cleanse the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of extortion and self-indulgence. Blind Pharisee, first cleanse the inside of the cup and dish, that the outside of them may be clean also. For you appear like white-washeded tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men's bones and all uncleanness. Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness."

As disgusting as it is, a very Xtian acquaintance of mine claims that her pastor has been telling his flock that Pres. O. is the anti-Christ since he's been elected. And of course she believes him, then offers the explanation that this, that and so on happened in the order described by the Bible, and Obama is the final sign of the Apocalypse. So I asked her, "Well, if you're anxious to get to Heaven, wouldn't you look forward to the Rapture?" Funny that she doesn't have an answer for that...nor will she give me the name of her church...

I'm old enough to recall other decades of their failed anti-christ predictions.

A whole crowd of whom the religious right say they determined is/was the anti-christ have come and gone.

Wasn't there to be just one? And, if they mucked up their past predictions, they're probably still mucking up their current predictions.

Of course, to really see the anti-christ, all any of these rabid Christnutters have to do is take a good look in the mirror and see themselves. Yes, they are the anti-christ.

  25. What is the story of this card? Where was it handed out? Just curious.

  26. Part 1 of 2

Sigh. A great majority of the people of any faith would disagree vehemently with this type of rhetoric. And I hope every one of those good people will speak out against this type of crap as they see it being distributed within their camp, but not seek to blame anyone until it is conclusive who is responsible for that ‘propaganda’.

But on our side here, let's not throw the baby out with the bath water and paint all "Bible-believers" as being pathetically like-minded with the group who produced the inflammatory card (or tract or whatever type of document it is). There are a few people who probably don’t know any better, but by no means is this the sentiment among MOST of the evangelicals on the far-right, because it is not even consistent with their doctrinal beliefs.

Also, these bigoted materials are not coming from anyone who is actually trying to sway independent voters to their side. And I don't believe for one minute that it is representative among any recognized religious groups. This is merely a Molotov cocktail that an extremist or "rat-fucker" is tossing into the crowd of "average" Americans--- Democrats, Republicans, Independents, Libertarians, and individuals with every other personal political ideology. The purpose is to divide groups that can reasonably be expected to coalesce during a national election based on their common ground, not their differences. Someone is sowing seeds of hate in order to create dissension and polarity among Christian and non-Christian groups, and perhaps free-thinking ‘Atheists’ as well.

Phase Two of this type of ruse is usually to point the finger of blame at an unaffiliated group which is not even responsible for the bad act, in order for them to be offended for being accused of harboring people who produce this type of bigoted propaganda, and then suggest the group who would be victimized in this case "planted" the material to blame someone else.

No one who would ever consider voting for the Democratic ticket would be sympathetic to this type of nonsense, because it is so 'over the top'. Likewise, no one who would subscribe to these beliefs would ever vote for Mitt Romney, either. But no one who is a member of an Evangelical or Christian group will take kindly to being accused of this type of smear tactic, either. In fact, no one likes to be falsely accused of something when they are not responsible, and would naturally be offended by an unfair accusation.

But I can imagine that the dirty tricks gang at Breitbart & Company might farm out something like this to the James O'Keefe-type operators to maintain political cover, with the objective of shifting the appearance of "Obama's people" being the culprit. Their goal, in my hypothesis, is to put this stuff out in order to make people think that the Obama campaign is trying to make Evangelicals look foolish. It is about as unsophisticated a ruse as there is, but that's the kind of tripe they deal in. We’ve seen the videos that O’keefe cut and spliced. He’s a penny-ante operator, and while I’m not blaming him specifically for this stupid ruse, it is his TYPE of operator that runs these unsophisticated cons. Romney's getting his ass kicked in the polls, and the TeaParty/extremist wingers (who, as a reminder, hate Romney) just want to piss in the punch bowl because they know they aren't going to the dance.

I apologize about the length here, but I think we're going to see much more of these underhanded political dirty tricks, and I don't want us to fall victim to being duped.

    Continued on next comment.

It's race-baiting, and it's designed to offend every reasonable person on both political sides, but the likely culprit is more concerned with getting the blame assigned to the Obama campaign for secretly using the "race card" to generate sympathy. There's going to be a lot of these unsophisticated types of propaganda produced by various 'shit-stirrers'.

Unfortunately, I've seen much worse mass-copied at Kinko's and then distributed under windshield wipers of all the cars at WalMart and in certain ethnic neighborhoods. In fact, when I was in graduate school in Nashville, someone had left their originals of some racist anti-Semitic literature on a copy machine, and it was just a cut-and-paste job where they cut the logo off of a pro-Palestine group's letterhead and pasted the P.O. Box address onto the bottom of the flyer, so it would be traceable to the pro-Palestinian group with minimal effort.

When I found the mock-up of the flyer, I called the Post Office to see who had the mail-box and found out it was a pro-Palestinian group. One of my classmates from Tel Aviv recognized the name of the group and said that they were very moderate and wouldn't produce anything like that, so we took it to a representative of the group. We found out that it was being produced and distributed by a very aggressive pro-Zionist group of students from Israel, which was also producing and distributing simultaneously anti-Palestinian flyers in Arab communities that could be traced back to a moderate Jewish group, who were actually quite sympathetic to the plight of the Palestinians. The pro-Zionist group wanted the two moderate groups at one another's throats.

Fortunately, in the case I described, both groups were well aware that they were being pitted against one another, and they had agreed to let the other group know anytime anything like that surfaced so each group could communicate with the temples and mosques in the area, so they would understand that it was just rat-fucking being done by those who didn't want them to get along. The Arab gentleman informed us that the problem was that sometimes people outside both of the groups wouldn’t know anything about the “real” people in the groups, and they were both stigmatized in the eyes of some as being “radical” or “terrorists”. This was right before 9/11/01, so I’m sure that the seeds of hate and doubt had been planted among many who had inadvertently been exposed to the racist flyers.

In the end, the students who were actually putting the flyers out were just kids who doing the legwork for someone who had advertised jobs for Jewish students in a local Hebrew-language community paper. They got tickets from campus police for littering and some other small fine for distributing the flyers, but claimed that they didn't know the mad who had hired them and met them in the areas to distribute the flyers. The number in the ad was a disposable cellular go-phone, and it was disconnected a few days later, I guess once that little "hate project" was completed.

There has been a concerted effort from the usual slimy suspects on the right to accuse the left of worshipping President Obama as a messiah. Sadly, their deluded sheep have come to believe this, which is demonstrated by crude, ignorant cards like the above. I'm sure you'll find these cards being handed out in fundagelical churches all over the USA to thrill the simple-minded and terrify them into voting for Romney.

If it sways one low information dipshit, it's one too many, but then that's the whole point. As much as I'd like to think society had evolved beyond this and race and or hate is no longer an issue, it always will be because the law of averages states that there always has to be the most ingnorant, most stupid, or the worst.

Steven Wright has a skit. "The law of averages says that somewhere on the face of the earth is the worst dentist in the world- and someone has an appointment to see them tomorrow morning"

    Sickening, but true.
