Woman calls President Obama a Communist outside of VP debate. Then cannot explain what she means.
You know I think that THIS lady is very representative of the low information Fox News viewer.
She hears these words, she believes these words, she fails to understand these words.
The gold standard here would be the (probably apocryphal) election campaign of Florida's George Smathers: "Are you aware that Claude Pepper is known all over Washington as a shameless extrovert? Not only that, but this man is reliably reported to practice nepotism with his sister-in-law. And he has a sister who once was a thespian in Greenwich Village. He has a brother who was a practicing homo sapiens. And he went to college where he matriculated with coeds. Worst of all, it is an established fact that Mr. Pepper, before his marriage, practiced celibacy"
Especially MATRICULATED!!! Trying to get the child suppor judge here in MA to understand the concept that mandatory child suppor for college should include MATRICULATION!!! Been paying for three years and nothing. No Associates not even close. Court review is Nov 15th. Wish me luck. Sacrifice for your kids education is one thing but basically becoming impoverished for nothing is a damn shame.
The sad thing is when I bring up the word MATRICULATION they look at me like I'm speaking a foreign language. I don't even think they know what it means!!
Hmmm, people would have to be pretty stupid to not know the word, but I do think it's used more in British empire English rather than American English. At least, I've never seen it used in US media, but finishing year 12 a lot of older people refer to it as 'the matric' or used like 'when did you matriculate?'
US media dumbs down its consumers so much that many people seem to be like this woman, just not even functioning on a level that they can have proper discussions or really, give any sort of input into a topic being discussed. I work at a traffic court in a very liberal western city.
