And here's some more 'extremely satisfying' stuff. What's that you say, Gryphen, 9th Dimension Chess?

The Myth of the Obama Cave-In

Obama didn't surrender in 2010. He turned a face-off over the Bush tax cuts into an opportunity to enact a second stimulus that he otherwise could not get past Senate Republicans.

Obama's 2010 Lame Duck Tax Deal Was a Triumph, Not A Sellout

So Obama secured a deal that extended the middle class tax cuts (which he and the GOP agreed on), extended UI benefits, created a stimulative payroll tax holiday, cleared the legislative decks for Don't Ask Don't Tell repeal and the passage of the New START arms control treated, and in exchange he gave up nothing of any real substance. Republicans got two more years' worth of high-end tax cuts at a time when deficit reduction wouldn't have helped the economy, and House GOP opposition would have prevented any new revenue from being spent. Whatever formal leverage he had two years ago still exists today, except now he gets to play that leverage from a somewhat stronger economic and political context. It's totally solid legislative dealmaking, and not any kind of cave-in or surrender.

  2. Actually, you know, I was contemplating going to the petition website and adding my name to those who want Texas to secede. I'd kind of like to give them back to Mexico.

I like this cartoon a lot.

Sidenote: You need a 'home' button on your website. When I click on stories I have to press my web browsers back button and sometimes I lose your site and have to type the address to get back in.

Conflict of Interest charge has cost the Mayor of Toronto his job!!

Now that's how charges of conflict of interest charges should be handled. The Judge found him guilty and he's now toast!!

This in regard to just $3,150 he solicited using his office & letterhead while a City Councillor for his football foundation which provides equipment for underprivileges high schools. He also coaches a football team.

He received 6 letters from the Integrity Commissioner regarding his repayment which would have cleared the issue up but he ignored the requests and did not respond. He thought himself above the law and his arrogance & stubborness has now cost him his Mayoral seat -- all for $3,150. For such a small amount -- his stupdity is front & centre.
