Let's start this beautiful morning with a victory speech from our President shall we?

Damn, can that man give a speech or what?

For the second time I got to share an historic election with my daughter by my side. For that alone I will be forever in this President's debt.

Update: Here is the text courtesy of the Huffington Post.

    The Mayans were right!

The end of the old world and into a new age.

I couldn't be prouder!!! Thanks to all who voted, poll watched, took others to vote, helped to allow Sandy's victims to vote in areas where power was still out. We drove 320 miles round trip to vote and unfortunately couldn't poll watch as we had planned, but DAMN it felt good!!

And thanks to Gryphen for his hard work in toppling the Bewigged Cretin before she even had a chance to infect this country with a run for office a second time, and for getting the Progressive word out.

It'll be interesting to watch Bagger heads explode over the next few weeks. Believe me when I tell you that the whiny, overfed toddlers will not go quietly. The dingbats at the Asylum are ripping their skulls off about their "lost freedom" and pushing for their Queen, Ann O. Rexia, in 2016 with a vengeance (well, it does keep the PAC going, eh?) Keep exposing her and she'll be a tiny blip on our radars in no time.

    Thanks again and congratulations!!!

Quote of the morning from Joe Scarborough about the Teaparty nutcases losing the US Senate for the R's:

    "Lunacy doesn't get elected"

He's right. Paylin, and the Teaparty lost over the last 2 years by letting extremists into the primaries like:

    Todd Akin
    Richard Mourdock
    Sharron Angle
    Joe Miller
Scott Brown (although he's not a nutcase, he was funded by the Kock's and other monsters)

By letting extremists into the nominating procss, they lost the Senate TWO ELECTIONS IN A ROW>

    How's that strike you $arah?

Gina, she's got to keep the ATM going.
Except she won't last that long.

Even if she started to eat healthy and got off the speed chances are her heart is so damaged not to mentions all her grifting and lies catching up to her.
2016 is pipedream. If she didn't run THIS time...why do those idiots think she will run in 2016?

Good morning Gryphen! It truly is a great day, knowing that the American electorate has re-affirmed its faith and confidence in their President! As a Canadian, I was overwhelmed by the display of support towards President Obama; however, as the man stated in his speech, there is much more work to do. I must concur with your observation - yes, the man knows how to galvanize a crowd! After hearing Rmoney's concession speech, I also wished he would have shown the same grace and dignity during the campaign. I was somewhat concerned during the first two hours as the EC votes had Rmoney in the lead; the fear of that dark money behind the scenes coming into play at the last minute had me really worried. Also, the reports of vote machine irregularities, line-ups and delays at polling stations had me thinking of the fiasco that transpired 12 years ago. But, in the end, as the West Coast results came in, with California putting the President over the top, I truly felt a great sense of relief! Four years ago, when I first discovered your blog, and I was alerted to the true agenda of the screeching harridan and her ignorant base, I must admit it has been a real eye-opener for me. However, your mandate of alerting educated people to the dangers of such rabid right-wing extremism has helped immensely, and I am truly grateful for all your efforts! The wisdom and wit of the many regulars who post here, has been very beneficial as well! In summation, seeing that vile woman and her enablers answering for all their vitriol towards President Obama and his wonderful family, and answering for their fraudulent and criminal activities is the ultimate goal!

  8. from BUZZFEED, the most satisfying observation:

The Tea Party is a memory, an embarrassment to a party that didn’t even mention it at its national convention in Tampa.

And the network that led the conservative resurgence, Fox, suffered a sort of televised meltdown as the results came in, with Karl Rove berating host Megyn Kelly for calling the election, he said, prematurely.

Republicans have warned of a more liberal Obama over the coming term, an outcome Democrats hope for and consider likely.

But the scale of the decisions facing the country will create an intense pressure for compromise, and now on Democratic terms.

  9. ANOTHER beauty, from the NEW YORKER:

The gamble was that by denying Obama any support, they would render his presidency wholly partisan at best, and a dysfunctional failure at worst.

They would increase their own chances of denying him a second term, and that their return to power would allow them to claim a full and absolute break with the past. They shoved all their chips onto tonight’s election. When the networks called it at 11:15 pm, the totality of the right’s failure was clear.

And because they bid up the stakes as high as they could, their loss was unusually devastating.

The gamble was not totally crazy, I have argued, because 2012 may have been the last chance to enact an undiluted conservative agenda.

The electorate is driving steadily leftward, with the oldest voters representing the GOP’s strongest constituency, and the youngest voters its weakest.

Every four years, a new 18-22 year old cohort arrives that is more liberal than the one that has died off in the interim.

The Republicans face a double peril with the youth vote. A far lower proportion of young voters are white, and those who are white are far less likely than their parents or grandparents to vote Republican.

White voters over the age of 65 selected Romney by a 20-point margin. White voters under 30 split evenly.

Wow, even a last minute endorsement from Sarah just the day before the election still carries the kiss of death.

    Hahaha...

Thanks and virtual hugs to all that waited in long lines to vote!

Have the C4Pee Paylin bots learned nothing?

They are all saying it's 2016 now, and $arah will save the country.

I have to gloat just a little this morning because of how irrelevant she is now.

Hey $arah, you lost in 2008, you QUIT in 2009,
    you quit running in 2011!

    How in hell do you
think in 2016 that ANYONE would vote for the most polarizing idiot who ever saw Russia from their back yard?

I was so wound up, didn't sleep at all Mon. night & went to vote as soon as the doors opened yesterday. Thought I would sleep for awhile when I got home, but was just too wound up to sleep. I finally crashed around noon with MSNBC on the TV. I woke up just as Ohio was announced for our President, didn't have to go through all the nerves & heartburn I've been having about the election for almost two years. I just couldn't believe we had actually done it and so swiftly. It was only 7:00pm HI time.

Congratulations President Obama & the American people. And special thanks to you Gryphen for keeping our spirits up, the information flowing & for sharing my vision for our country. Thank YOU and thank everyone across the country who voted to bring us this fantastic win.

I have not had a chance to listen to this yet, but my understanding is that President Obama says the "best is yet to come" for America. When I learned of this, I wept.

Our president's faith in this country has simply never wavered, ever. Even though he has been the target of some of the ugliest political mudslinging I've ever witnessed by other Americans.

I will take his example and keep trying to forge a path of understanding with these people, even if it seems impossible. It's the right thing to do, I believe, if one truly cares about keeping this country strong. Obama has proven this. God bless you and walk with you Mr. President.

    Thank You!
This is one for the history books, and President Obama has made history.

Reading the transcript was even more moving.

I watched it unfold on msnbc, I expected it to take longer for the numbers to come in because of the voter id laws and New Jersey extending the date to friday in the news, and long lines of people waiting. I just thought it was going to be a long, drawn out election.
I made more popcorn waiting for Romney to say "You won, I lost, Toodles!" than I did watching the election.

What struck me most was his words to his daughters and wife. The look of pride and strength as they came onto the stage.

We haven't seen the kids much, and when they came out on stage- I couldn't believe how much they've grown! And I got to thinking of their sacrifice as he was away campaigning. These young ladies are so lucky to have a father who respects women and all people.

The best is yet to come!
