Perhaps the strangest, and ridiculously funny, video I have ever posted here.

Okay so now that you are stuffed full of turkey, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce I thought it would be a great time to share with you a video that I stumbled upon yesterday, and which made me laugh so hard I almost cried.

Before you click play I must warn you that this is extremely silly, but I defy you not to laugh out loud as you watch it.

I actually had NEVER heard of this Mr. Blobby character until I saw this video so I looked him up on Wikipedia. And what I found was also very silly, not to mention kind of surprising. Such as this little tidbit:

The Mr Blobby spoof theme song "Mr Blobby" was released as a single, and hit #1 on the UK top 40 charts. On 11 December 1993, it hit #1, replacing Meat Loaf's "I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)" which had been in the #1 spot for 7 weeks.

I swear ONLY in England.

P.S. By the way don't you love the hose Jimmy Carr? I watch clips of his all the time when I am in a foul mood. ALWAYS cheers me up.

Jimmy Carr is a frequent guest on the great QI - a show worth checking out if you haven't.

  3. Well, Gryphen. . .that was- something.

I concur with the scared guy- that thing's allowed near kids?!

Also- seeing this makes me think Jenny McCarthy modeled her "annoying party guest" character who is always honking boobs and stuff, after this guy. (Thing?)

    I watched about a minute and a half. Hmm...I guess it's a "guy thing."

No, it's a 'has a sense of humour' thing. And I'm a woman. Please don't speak for all of us, when all the women I know appreciate British humour and aren't mindless bores! Good god.

I suggest 'According to Jim' or another laugh-tracked piece of American non-humour would be more to your 'taste'.

We are just resting our turkey and finishing up the gravy, deciding how much of the drippings we want in the gravy. Turkey was wrapped with a few slices of thick sliced bacon and stuffed with asian pears and granny smith apples, then basted with real vermont maple syrup and bourbon. Stuffing is cornbread with wild rice and sage sausage with a bit of drippings from the turkey and butter and stock from the giblets. Chocolate Mousse for the ending with orange and dark chocolate zest on top. Been looking forward to this all day! We usually dine at 9pm but are doing it a little earlier since "the chef" was home for the holiday.

Almost Live is a riot! They were the first to do the "Sofa King" commercial- They remind me of the old Second City TV clips.

I'm a huge fan of Brit Coms and British humor. I have all the "Monty Python and The Flying Circus" series transferred from betamax to dvd, a lot of SCTV, especially Andrea Martin. Dame Edna, Phoebe Bucket... I've seen Jimmy Carr before and loved him, but I'm scratching my head at Blobby.

Guess it's an acquired taste, but I'll have to check him out on You Tube.

Have you ever caught Mrs Brown's Boys?

  9. Doesn't Rowan Atkinson reference Mr. Blobby in the Blackadder series somewhere? Or maybe it was Hugh Laurie? I seem to remember something about it.

Haha. Had never heard of this frolicking and at times quite lascivious Mr. Blobby, but agree, it's the British comedy way, and uniquely very funny.
