Picture(s) of the day.

President Obama attending the 21st Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Cambodia.

Great picture don't you think? However the last few days have been filled with great opportunities for photos.

The President also stopped by Myanmar to visit with activist Aung San Suu Kyi.

The Mayanmar people were, to say the least, VERY excited by his visit.

It appears that while the President is still experiencing angry blowback from the defeated Republicans in THIS country, in other parts of the world he is a virtually rock star.

(Most of these pictures are courtesy of the Obama Diary.)

When I leave the shores of the USA, and visit other countries around the world, many people have asked me if Americans are insane.

They want to know how it's possible that a man like President Obama can be so despised and hated.

They especially want to know when and if America will ever put an emphasis on education and health care, instead of war and weapons.

The people I meet are incredulous that so many Americans are just pig ignorant, uneducated, uninformed people, who are so arrogant as to think that the USA is better than anywhere else.

And as a perfect example, the craziest of the ultra right wing lunatics are now plotting to try and stop the Electoral college from ratifying Mr Obama's re-election.

Apparently, if 17 states refuse to allow their electors to vote for PResident OBama, the election goes to the US house, and they can then elect Romney.

All that in spite of the 3 million vote edge Prez Obama won by, and the 120 point spread in the electoral college

This article just betrays the same type of thinking that Mourdock and Akin had: delusional and dead wrong.

The C4pee bots are even more delusional in thinking that the House could elect Palin, and all their prayers would be answered.

And I hear my friends from Germany, France, and Japan saying again,, " how can you Americans be so ignorant"??

    1. The pig ignorant and uneducated didn’t have much competition for many years.

Their parents and grandparents (surprisingly well-educated) had put a lot of fat into the system, and that was greasing the skids, for the kids, until foreign competition finally took off.

Add Spain, Portugal, Italy and Switzerland to your list. My husband has business dealings and visits, he gets the same attitude and questions. He feels awkward responding to them because it's kind of embarrassing.
I have family in Argentina, they have framed Photos of Jesus, Mary, The Saints and Popes interspersed with photos of President Obama in their Dining area, THAT's how much they respect him.

VERY loud too. And always very large, and apple shaped. But the loudness is what baffles me. Are Americans hard of hearing? Why do you talk so terribly loudly? Whenever I meet an American I have to take several steps back, just to save my ear drums from being blown out of my head! And they look at the even the most western modern countries like mine, and stare at the inhabitants (like me) as though we are so exotic and strange, and how they wish they could package us up and open a museum full of us for entertainment! Lol, it's so funny! And I suppose in comparison we are tiny stick figure type people that can easily be smuggled down their pants or in their luggage. I just want to say loudly back 'this is Australia. We are a modern, first world country, do you SEE?' and then there are locals that love nothing more than stirring them up and inventing horrific murderous animals that take you when you least suspect. Oh dear.

  3. Are we really a Pacific nation? I don’t quite know all the ins-and-outs of that. I don’t mind, however…

    3. Whether they like it or not, American policies can have huge effects on Southeast Asian nations (see Vietnam War).

For good or ill, the US is a major country with a lot of power and working with the US and even more important, convincing the US to work with them, on the many economic and political issues facing us all is a wise strategy.

I LOVE how he is wearing similar clothing to the others in the first photo. It is a nice touch to show commonality with the people he is visiting. But I supposed to tiny warped minds, it just proves he is a Muslim.

I'm so jealous of the President being in that region. Seeing the silk shirts on the men in the pics. Makes me want to go back and get more silk suits, dresses, shoes, etc. made.

I so love the fact that our President is so well regarded outside of the USA even though the Republicans have constantly tried to sell the fact to all of us that he isn't.

Once again, they have been proven to be the bullshitters they are. No wonder their party is so disliked within the USA!

Lawd have mercy, have mercy lawd. The President is rocking that shirt.

I love how other countries treat the President with love and respect.

It's unfortunate half of this country hates him & can't see that he's a good man who only wants the best for the people this country.

If the rumors are true, Anonymous stopped Karl Rove from cheating and rigging the votes in Romney's favor.

Again if these rumors are true, and evidence is turned over to the proper authorities, Karl Rove and friends will be sitting out the next couple election cycles in federal prison.

I had the good fortune to catch the end of Alex Wagner filling in for Lawrence O'Donnell showing videos of President Obama and Sec Clinton in Burma. I was so touched, I cried. I've read about the decades of horror the people here have suffered and this is really a big deal. President Obama has such compassion. I was proud of the President and Sec Clinton.

ANyone can claim a hack, but even if ORCA had worked perfectly, there is no way the Rmoney bots would have won that election

Look at the wonderful signs by the other countries! POTUS must just shake his head in sorrow & shame for all these ignoramuses in the USA, USA!

It is a shame but somehow I think Obama himself doesn't have time to think about teabaggers (he has teams for that) just like he doesn't think of Sarah Palin either. Ever. Onwards & upwards - the POTUS looks forward not backwards and always inspires.

The arrogance of some in the US to keep pounding the drum of how exceptional we are,

He's representing! I saw footage of him visiting a buddhist temple, he took his shoes off before entering, after he emerged, he spoke with a monk who asked if it was appropriate to pray for him. He smiled and said something about the fiscal cliff and how he appreciates any and all prayers the monk could offer.

What I love most is how he's trying to open trade with them, kind of a subtle message to China.

It makes you beam with pride that our country has elected this wonderful human being twice after suffering thru 8 years of that idiot. Obama is truly a man of the people...the rest of the world listens when he speaks, the speech he gave in Burma was so full of hope and inspiration, everyone should listen. The comments made above when people travel just shows how backward so many of our citizens are. I chat with people around the globe on a few sites and it started with Clinton and the Lewinski bullshit, then with Bush and his stupidity and the wars...finally we have a smart, courageous man that lives with peace in his heart for all human beings. It is hard to believe how he maintains this ridiculous schedule being so focused whatever he does....I imagine he lives everyday filled with so much love from and for his family he floats above the hate. He and Michelle glide and dance with rich or poor and every culture...it is amazing.
