To save face Fox News claims that journalist who outed them during interview as a "wing of the Republican party" apologized afterward. Journalist: "I don't remember any such apology."

Courtesy of  TPM:

Fox News Channel executive vice president Michael Clemente on Monday responded to the much-discussed interview with Tom Ricks, claiming that the Pulitizer Prize winner apologized privately for criticizing the network's coverage of the September attack in Benghazi, Libya. In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Clemente accused Ricks of using the interview to generate publicity for his new book, The Generals. Clemente also seemed to take exception to the lack of public contrition from Ricks.

“When Mr. Ricks ignored the anchor’s question, it became clear that his goal was to bring attention to himself -- and his book," Clemente told THR via email. "He apologized in our offices afterward but doesn’t have the strength of character to do that publicly."

But that's news to Ricks, who told THR in his own email that he never offered an apology to Fox — privately or publicly.

"Please ask Mr. Clemente what the words of my supposed apology were. I'd be interested to know," Ricks said. "Frankly, I don't remember any such apology."

Oh, snap! That is going to leave mark!

Update: Mr. Ricks provided more information to Politico:

“Clemente is making it up, and it is sloppy of Hollywood Reporter to not ask him for specifics — what exactly am I alleged to have said? — and also to seek a response from me,” Ricks wrote in an e-mail. “Why are they doing this? Because their MO is that when the facts aren’t on their side, they attack the person.”

However don't think this clearly coordinated attack against Susan Rice is over. Just a little while ago Ambassador Rice met with Senators John McCain, Lindsey Graham, and Kelly Ayotte.

This was their response afterward:Three Republican senators who met Tuesday with U.N.

Ambassador Susan Rice say they are more troubled now over her initial explanations about the deadly Sept. 11 raid in Libya.

Let's face it these people are still butt hurt that Obama won the election, and THEIR candidate and policies were rejected. The only hope they have left, considering how squeaky clean Obama has been during his first term, is to manufacture some distracting scandal they can use to turn the public's attention away from their own failures and inability to compromise for the benefit of the American people.

Personally I believe that the ONLY way you would still consider this Benghazi thing to be a scandal is that all of your information comes solely from Fox News and Right Wing radio.

I think that Fox News is still reeling from their election night coverage with Karl Rove making such a fool of himself and from the fact that those moments have been repeated ad infinitum on MSNBC, the Comedy Channel and on the internet ever since.

Of course the three stooges are more troubled then ever....one of them forgot why they were there, one fell asleep, and the third was just really impressed with how well-informed Ms. Rice really was. :-)

I think they are drowning...I can see Grover Norquist swirling down the plug hole...followed closely by McCain and Fox News.

Mr. Clemente's running to the "Hollywood Reporter" to cover the collective ass of such a "reputable" news syndicate is at very minimum, laughable.

    What a gutless maneuver.

I heard Ayotte doing her best 'horrified' impoersonation on NPR. What bunch of whining, lying SOBs are now at the head of the GOP. And after their 'shellacking' on Nov. 6, one would think they MIGHT become interested in governing rather than tearing down this country. Of course not. They don't govern when they are IN power, why would they start now?

      Sally in MI:
these people have no interest in governing, tearing is what they do. What really gets me is: the Republicans and the Tea Party call themselves Patriots. I sometimes wonder just where they all learned their history? If the truth be told, the real Patriots(of the Rev. war and the founding of our nation)if this truth was told, a number of real patriots used there fortunes during this process. They came out of the war with nothing, died pennyless. The new patriots, will not give one cent, to the welfare of their country, (like paying a larger amt. to taxes)nor do they send their children to fight. It is the ordinary americans who are left to give, life, jobs and health for the good of country.
while people like Mccain pompously and prententiously pretends, he is a pure patriot. we all know, this to be a lie,his days as a hero were finished when his days as a prisoner were revealed.Yet, everyone listens to him.. UUGH!!

Holy Dinosaurs! The Wasilla Wingnuts are going to lose it.

Robertson tells Christians: Radiocarbon dating proves no dinosaurs on Noah’s Ark

Televangelist Pat Robertson says that radiocarbon dating proves that the Earth is older than 6,000 years — and he’s telling Christians not to “cover it up.”

On Tuesday’s 700 Club, a viewer wrote Robertson that her “biggest fear is to not have my children and husband next to me in God’s Kingdom” because they question why the Bible could not explain the existence of dinosaurs.

“Look, I know that people will probably try to lynch me when I say this, but Bishop [James] Ussher wasn’t inspired by the Lord when he said that it all took 6,000 years,” the TV preacher explained. “It just didn’t. You go back in time, you’ve got radiocarbon dating. You got all these things and you’ve got the caucuses of dinosaurs frozen in time out in the Dakotas.”

“They’re out there,” he continued. “So, there was a time when these giant reptiles were on the Earth and it was before the time of the Bible. So, don’t try and cover it up and make like everything was 6,000 years. That’s not the Bible.”

“If you fight science, you’re going to lose your children, and I believe in telling it the way it was.”

Fox needs to bring back Sarah Palin. Give her a show of her own. She will make everything better and believable. Restoring trust while entertaining.

They have enough comedy shows, why add Palin? None of that family adds a thing to any entertainment channel.Let them freeze in Alaska, or roast in Arizoina, just stay off TV.

Watched Rachel Maddow yesterday who reported that many states governored by Republican governors and holding the majority in their state legislatures, are STILL doing the anti abortion stuff! The 'belt way' Republicans (McCain, etc.) have no friggin' clue what is going on outside of Washington D.C. They are friggin' idiots!!

Well, the thing is, Bishop Ussher was a Catholic. Catholics are not Christians, according to evangelicals, so it's okay to criticize something one of them said..he is rather putting himself out there with his scientific belief, though.

I love that Tom Ricks wasted no time bursting the "Apology" bubble.

As for John, Lindsey and Kelly, so nice of them to admit they were disturbed before this meeting, but now are "more disturbed". Guess they'll be "most disturbed" when President Obama picks Susan Rice, because you KNOW he will!

Lieberman decided to skip this horse and pony show, and defend Susan Rice's appearances and what she relayed on those Sunday shows.

The REAL bee in their bonnets is they want Kerry to be SOS so they can gain another senate seat. But you won't hear it on Fox.
