You know Rush Limbaugh's days as a Right Wing radio shock jock might finally be coming to an end.

"Does anybody out there still find me relevant?"
Courtesy of the Daily Kos:

The Rush Limbaugh Show is distributed to 600 radio stations via several radio industry networks. The show is syndicated by privately-held Premiere Networks, which contracts with Cumulus Media, Dial Gobal, and other networks to secure broad access in as many media markets as possible.

On Friday, November 16, Dial Global took a huge financial hit, resulting in the company voluntarily de-listing from NASDAQ. Dial Global's stock dropped by nearly 77 percent. The company identified three causes for its troubles, including "advertisers' response to controversial statements by a certain nationally syndicated talk radio personality in MARCH 2012."

Now, it is becoming apparent that Cumulus is also a troubled company. Dial Gobal appears to be on the ropes; Cumulus is, so far, failing to thrive. Both companies have publicly blamed Rush.

You know one of the most persistent themes circling the internet these days, ESPECIALLY on the conservative side, is that the Republicans need to create some distance between the party and its more fringe, and batshit crazy, elements.

Right now they seem mostly focused on taming the Teabaggers, and making sure they don't have any more Todd Akins, making their party look like a bunch of ignorant, anti-science, woman haters in the future.

However I have to imagine that they are also VERY upset with big mouth pundits like Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh. Let's face it, THEY have actually done more to damage the GOP brand than even Sarah Palin managed to do back in 2008.

They are constantly pouring verbal fuel on one conspiracy bonfire after another, and while that often blows up in the faces of whichever dimwitted candidate carries the message forward, THEY remain relatively unscathed.

I would not be at ALL surprised that in the near future we see the Republican party take a huge step away from the Rush Limbaughs, Sean Hannitys, and Glenn Becks of the world, and start to try and put forward their message through more palatable conservative voices like.....uh..like uh...well I'm sure they will come up with somebody!

But until then I think I will enjoy watching these brainless windbags continue dragging the name of the Grand Old Party through the gutter with them until there is nobody of conscience left that would dirty their hands voting for ANYBODY on the Republican ticket. You know in a way, as disgusting as they are, these idiots really DO kind of perform a public service.

Don'tcha think?

I can still remember hearing Rush say in 2004, "Democrats, it's over!" alluding to the fact that Democrats were dinosaurs and the party was finished.
    Ha!

I don't think they do a public service at all. Look at all the terrified, anxious sheeple who have bought into their alternative universe and believe it truth. Not only are these "celebrities" making these people miserable, they are making everyone who has to deal with them miserable because they are totally brainwashed. And more to the point these sheeple VOTE!

The operative word here is "old". It has a defunct ring to it. It's hard to market anything in today's society with the word old in it. Even if you try to hide behind the acronym GOP. KFC tried it. Doesn't work. Ask GM why they dropped Oldsmobile.

Limbaugh is on his way out. People are waking up and smelling the coffee.

Please go click on this article at Daily Kos and help Flush Rush with their database of sponsors, many of whom don't even know their ads are being played on his show!

"Rush Limbaugh's talk radio career is in a slow downward spiral in part because of the activism of consumers, volunteers, and activists who seek to hold Rush accountable for his hate speech. One very active group in this cause is Flush Rush on Facebook. Flush Rush and other, similar groups use the StopRush Database to inform advertisers about where their ads are appearing."

Besides calling Sandra Fluke a slut on national live radio, Rush did two other truly despicable things back in the 90's"

    1) On his TV show, early in the Clinton administration, Limbaugh put up a picture of Socks, the White House cat, and asked, 'Did you know there's a White House dog?' Then he put up a picture of Chelsea Clinton, who was 13 years old at the time

    http://mediamatters.org/research/2008/09/02/hannitys-memory-lapse-i-dont-remember-chelsea-c/144737

    2) Around the same time, maybe a bit earlier when she was 12, Rush did a parody of Chelsea rummaging through her purse to find condoms, and made some other nasty comments about her.

I have to say, that though I am a peaceful man, I sometimes indulge in wishful thinking about Rush.

It looks like Rush may be getting the Game Change treatment that Sarah Palin so deserved.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Actor and outspoken liberal John Cusack is developing a movie about conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh, Cusack's production company said Friday.

The working title is "Rush," Cusack's New Crime Productions confirmed, offering no other details.

The Rethugs can step away from the 'outside packaging' all they want but until they fix the 'inside' -- won't do a damm thing.

Akin was as in past tense now that he has lost, on the Science Committee. They have just appointed new 'stunned and stupid' to the Science Committee. Until they fix these 'inside Washington issues' -- the outside fixes mean absolutely nothing.

  11. O/T but so damn cute I had to comment! I just saw the cutest video on Sunny's PUBLIC FB page! It was a video of Tripp chasing after Levi with silly string! That kid is so dang cute and he acted NOTHING like the monster he was when he was on "Life is a Travesty".

There's also a beautiful picture of Tripp holding his sleeping baby sister and her little hand is in his mouth! ADORABLE!

Oh shit...I think I was gushing! LOL!!

Not to be outdone, beefy has a new post with two grainy cheap ass photos of her, trig version 2.0, and Tripp - the heading is "Fun with Fam". Guess this got to her and she HAD to post SOMETHING. Epic Fail

There are a few distinct camps of folks who listen to this right wing stuff. The true believers, who run to it for information and who can't form an opinion of their own practically on anything until they are told what to think about it. Then there's the people like most of us in this thread who just tune in for the insanity, the comedic value of it all and to generally keep tabs on it and the occasional listener who generally can't be bothered with such things that tunes in once a year and is shocked at what's being said and that so many people believe it.

I hope this isolation of Rush spreads to the other loudmouths, especially the vile Michael Savage, and that Levin guy. My fear/hope is that the Republican Party will turn to David Frum for help resetting their agenda. Frum is the most reasonable person I disagree with in that party.

I may not like what he has to say, but at least he is intelligent and pragmatic with his approach.

    2. I'm glad you mentioned Savage. Vile is right and I don't see him mentioned as much as the others.

    3. Frum fits right in with today's gop ideology. They have to start with all new ppl to come up with a viable party. No christie, rubio, jendal. A fresh batch...good luck with that. They can run but they can't hide.

gop said if we don't start lowering our standards there won't be any candidates to run. WRONG! There won't be any gop candidates running.

The GOP deserves whatever fallout they get. Silence is consent, not ONE spoke out against Rush out of fear of disturbing the disturbed lily white racists.
Not ONE in the GOP stood up for Sandra Fluke, Chelsey Clinton, the Obama girls, as he verbally assaulted them over and over with his bullshit.
I'm so glad I signed every petition I could find and those left in the comments here and on other blogs. Hard to boycott something you don't use, watch or listen to, but those petitions let the advertisers know how people REALLY feel.

I disagree with one part of what you said, Gryph:

NO ONE has done more harm to the GOP than Sarah Palin.

I personally know several life-long Republicans that walked away from the party because of Palin's hate-speech during the McCain/Palin campaign.
("...pallin' around with terrorists", et. al.)

NO ONE delights more in getting right down into the gutter muck than Sarah Palin.

They will still try to placate the mouth breathers. The trouble with Akins, Mourdok, and Ryan is that they are TRUE BELIEVERS. They're going to have to figure out that you CAN NOT placate the pro-life crowd with someone who will compromise. We now know that the teabaggers and mouth breathers are an "all or nothing" kind of group, and if the R's don't want to cast their lot with them, they're going to have to start their own new arm of the party and run against them. They let the lunatics run the asylum, and the lunatics are releasing them. I think we will see more of the same in one last stand in 2014.

Eisenhower (Ike) kicked all the John Birchers out of the party back in the 1950s. Told them he didn't want their kind. As far as I can tell, folks like Rush and Sarah and Sean are John Birchers with a different name. The R's would be smart to kick them to the curb.

Ike built our Interstate system. Today, no Republican will even vote to fix a road. A very sorry state of affairs - when did fixing roads and bridges become political?
