49% of Republicans believe that ACORN (Yes ACORN!) stole the 2012 election for Obama. I'm not sure WTF covers this!

Courtesy of Raw Story:

Nearly endless gobs of misinformation spewed from partisan media outlets in recent years had resulted in an astonishing achievement: 49 percent of Republicans now say that the disbanded community organizing group ACORN stole the 2012 presidential election for President Barack Obama, according to a survey by Public Policy Polling (PPP) released Tuesday.

The finding is especially stunning considering that ACORN, which stands for The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, filed for bankruptcy and disbanded in 2010. The group was targeted by conservative media prankster James O’Keefe in a series of intentionally misleading videos that purported to show employees explaining how to force children into prostitution. Then-Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) sponsored a bill in 2009 to pull all government funding of the group, which passed and led to their collapse.

Following Obama’s successful campaign against Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) in 2008, PPP found that a whopping 52 percent of Republicans said that the loss was ACORN’s doing — meaning 2012′s figures are only a marginal improvement.

The apoplectic response to Obama’s win over former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney doesn’t stop with feeling robbed. PPP also found that 25 percent of Republicans said they no longer want to be American and would rather their state to secede from the U.S. than take orders from President Obama.

You know I don't usually agree with that whole secession idea but just imagine how quickly the median IQ would go up in this country if they DID secede. It has got to be worth a half dozen points or more, don't you think?

I mean these people are unbelievably stupid, on a level that is really concerning. How in the hell do you reason with people that are gullible enough to believe that an organization that did nothing more than register potential voters, and has been disbanded for two years, could steal an election?

And the ironic part is while THEY are buying into THIS bullshit in reality their side actually DID try to steal the election.

This might be a good thing. We may be able to leverage their fear to pressure Congress to actually change our campaign and election laws to eliminate the possibility of both voter suppression and vote stealing.

I hadn't realized that the C and O in ACORN stood for Community Organization. That explains everything--all the carrying on about our President being a (said with a sneer) Community Organizer. These rwnj's are losers.

I agree about letting them secede. Texas is big enough for all of them - I'd even be willing to help some of them pack up and move there. So much ignorance!

  4. Exasperating, isn’t it?

Stay well-informed and don’t be afraid to debate. I had to nail an elderly fellow when he tried to claim Clinton was responsible for the Marines dying in Beirut. He was supposedly intelligent (now deceased), but was stuck in some sort of republican echo chamber and wasn’t inclined to fact-check. He got recalibrated that day.

  8. This is a great idea! They need to secede and all move to Texas! What will they do without their social security checks, their Medicare, their highway money to repair their roads? Oh, and if they happen to have a natural disaster, who will give them help? They won't get it from FEMA. They need to try this out and see what happens. I read somewhere that many of think that selling Texas oil will be their prosperity. Don't they know that Texas oil is pretty much gone as those are very old oil fields? The life of a field is usually 30 years and it gets too expensive for oil companies to lift the oil out of the reservoir. These people are nuts and they all deserve each other! Stop complaining and whining and just go ahead and do it already!

One of the consequences of racism is the necessity to believe unsubstantiated lies in order to maintain some semblance of superiority. In other words, racism depends during the era of Fugitive Slave laws and Black Codes, and when it was illegal for African American slaves to read.

It's very enlightening and mind-blowing to see such unabashed ignorance. We're supposed to accept that secession is sensible. Why? The reason doesn't matter. If we're white and we say something, no matter how ignorant, then it's true. If we say that Acorn, a defunct social service organization, is behind President Obama's reelection, then, if we are white, then it is true.

This is the same boneheaded mentality that enables McCain to call Susan Rice "not too bright" and "incompetent" when he's the one who foisted the most incompetent dimwit in history on us. If I'm white and I say ignorant, wrong, unsubstantiated things, then those things are true. Only in America.
