A final thought for today.

A truth spoken so many years ago, yet one which is still ignored by those who could take it to heart and change the world for the better by clothing the naked, healing the sick, and feeding the hungry.

How much do we spend to improve our ability to take a life in relation to how much we spend in order to save one? And recognizing that incredible disparity do we still dare to call ourselves humane? Or evolved? Or Christians?

All of us in this country should look to our past in shame and resolve to move forward in peace and brotherhood.  If not now, when? And if not us, then who?

And there has been yet another shooting, this time at a busy mall in Portland. Where is the Dwight Eisenhower of our time? It could have been Colin Powell, but Bush ruined his credibility forever.

relative to the opening line in the D. Eisenhower quote, it's ironic as i just read about some camo wearing tea_tard with automatic weapon opening fire in the clackamas town center mall down in portland oregon taking at least two lives ...

It is very sad here. Two dead, one injured, the coward took his own life of course. So many tear-inducing interviews of those there. My daughter and I had thought of going and would have been there.

Gryphen, don't miss Leah's new article:

Navy Seals Are Not Dominionists’ Rescue Squads

As a Board Member if the Military Religious Freedom Foundation I am more acutely aware than most Americans of the breadth of influence being insinuated into our military on multiple levels every single day. In addition to the mandatory attendance requirements at events sponsored by, and performed on, military campuses everywhere – there are commanders and Pentagon level top brass that intentionally use our presence overseas as a federally funded missionary project. This flagrant misuse even leads to senseless deaths such as the one that took the life of Nicolas D. Checque this weekend when he was sent in to rescue Dominionist missionaries working as “economic development” professionals in Afghanistan and took a fatal bullet to the head as a result.

One of the Dairygate bunch has been indicted on 6 counts for embezzling grant money from the USDA. Interesting that Sarah has been so quiet lately.

    Christians?
    CHRISTIANS???

The "Christians" in this country support torture!!!
The "Christians" in this country don't support food stamps - or subsidized housing.
The "Christians" in this country want to do away with Social Security for the elderly and health care for the poor (Medicare, Medicaid, Obamacare).

    ... "Christians" my ass.

How brilliant was this man? His warning about the "military industrial complex" came true to the point even he couldn't imagine, how scarey is that! When you read about the facts in expanding Medicaid, it is such a no brainer. I hope the hospitals use their political power to expose this horror to the public and where is the media in all this? The fed is paying 100% for 2 years, creating thousands of jobs, thousands of lives to be saved....WTF? I can imagine a time when people compare the state to live in like choices on a menu..and it won't be in the south.

Oliver Stone's history presentation ("Untold History of the U.S." -- unfortunately only on the rarely seen SHOWTIME channel) has been exposing some VERY heavy behind the scenes stuff.

Such as how Truman had no real reason to have the nuclear bombs dropped on Japan, other than to scare the rest of the world (making HIM a more severe mass murderer than even Stalin).

And, in the last episode, how Eisenhower quietly enabled the military industrial complex to turn the United States into the meanest imperialistic nation in history.

I wondered if there would be anything told about the kindly, grandfatherly looking President who mainly seemed to be playing golf all the time, that would alter our view of him.

That he seemed to come to the conclusion that his actions were completely foolhardy, by the time he LEFT office, did not, in Stone's eyes, excuse him in the least.

The next episode is about JFK...boy, will it be interesting to see if Stone and his producers, do a scathingly rough look at his time in office, as well.

Everyone who likes finding out what is REALLY going on, HAS to find a way to view this series!
